So...SO good! My sister and I are both vegan, visiting from austin and stumbled upon this gem. From the soup to the sesame tofu and the portobello and tofu curry dish, everything was amazing! First time here and I must say the experience was great! The name fish cake factory never appealed to me. I didn't even know it was Thai food until I read the menu online. Shame on me for judging a book by it's cover because this place has great food. We ordered the Phad See Ew, Hawaiian Fried Rice, and Crab Cakes. Everything was very flavorful. I think my favorite was the Phad See Ew. The Crab Cakes were a good size. I was expecting smaller. You get 3 cakes in 1 order. The Hawaiian Fried Rice wasn't bad, but it tasted like any other pineapple fried rice you'd find at a Thai Restaurant. I think the pricing for the Crab Cakes were a bit high, about $12. The rest of the items seemed to be spot on with what other Thai places charge in the Seattle area. The place is smaller, but it's very cute. I loved the way they decorated it. Large windows so lots of natural light inside, which I love! I don't like dark restaurants. It makes me sleepy and I can't take good pictures of my food without using flash. (First World Problems) The waiter was VERY nice and SUPER helpful! He had a lot of input about what to order, what's popular, and provide a description of the food. FInally a Thai restaurant ABOVE THE REST Been living in downtown for about a year and half, and have been to plenty of Thai places. This one REALLY STOOD OUT. Fish Cake Factory captures full flavor across it's menu from appetizers like the Fried Spring Rolls, Tom Kha Soup and all the way to their entrees like Panang Curry. The depth of flavor was what really surprised me, and has kept me coming back for more many times over. I'm also one of those people that always orders 5 spicy at Thai restaurants and will ask for spicier if possible. Unfortunately Thai restaurants often sacrifice flavor when adding more spice to do a dish. But not Fish Cake Factory the 5 spicy dishes I've ordered have always been full of flavor but the spicy does not disappoint either. The decor is laid back and inviting, but both appropriate and acceptable for a lunch meeting or even a dinner date. Great cocktails and interesting food, but shortage of ingredients I was thoroughly excited to try the Fish Cake Factory. The reviews are great. I purchased a Groupon. I visited the restaurant around 5:30 pm on a Sunday night. The cocktails on the menu sounded amazing. Unfortunately, they ran out of several ingredients. The cocktail that I eventually ordered (cannot remember the name) was delicious nonetheless. My significant other's cocktail was equally delicious. I ordered the fried taro and red snapper cakes. They were excellent, but quite fried. My significant other wanted to order the pork cakes; however, they ran out of pork. It seemed as though we visited at a bad time. This restaurant is pretty interesting because of its name and its decor. I would have never guessed that this place is a predominantly Thai restaurant! The name and the decor scream Americana or something (fish portraits, lightbulbs for the lights over the tables, etc), but the menu is Thai food! This is also the first place that I've seen these Thai fish cakes, so if you're into fried fish cakes, definitely try their sampler platter (10 for $16.95). They come out with the cute toothpick flags indicating the name of the fish cake. I liked the "Indian" one, which tastes like Indian food in a fish cake. The trout one tasted EXTREMELY fishy (not to my liking - I actually do not eat seafood). I got the yellow curry with beef. The curry was actually really delicious. The flavor was good and the "mild" was actually a little spicier than I'd like. Some of the beef pieces weren't that great, but overall I thought the dish was good. I do find it strange that rice is not included though, since most places do have rice come with curry. The penang curry is also very good. There is that slight red oil coating on the top that helps to make penang curry so delicious! The curry is very smooth. I ate here last night with my husband since we live only a block away from it and we love Uptown Espresso right next door. I like the setting of the restaurant, it's roomy, nice furnitures and not too crowded. Food-wise: I had the fish cake sampler-- I'm personally not impressed by it. Out of the ten, the only fish cake I liked was the lobster and crab one. We also had vegetable eggrolls for appetizer- it was OK only, I'm Asian so I make my own obviously and has higher standards. My husband is Caucasian and he liked the egg rolls and his California fish cake. He said he liked his food. He said he would come back again. I on the other hand, I probably wouldn't, however, to make it fair, I'd come back again one more time to try the other dishes. For now, I'm only giving it a 3 star. read more

Ehhhhh we ordered take-out from Bitesquad. I was initially impressed with the size of the massamun curry...much larger than any other curry I've ever ordered. Unfortunately, as soon as I put my spoon in it I realized that it was very watery with little ingredients. The beef was sliced so thin that I you could see through it. The curry itself was very very bland. We also ordered the chicken satay which was $7 for 4 tiny, thin skewers of very bland chicken. The chicken Pad Thai was the saving grace for this meal and the only reason it got 3 stars. I'll probably revisit this restaurant to sit down and eat and hopefully it will be better. read more

It took me awhile to write this review because I had to think about it and tried my best to create an exception. FYI the day I visited this place was on New Year's Day 2013, most recently. Took me till today to write this review and not to write it in anger. However, I can't neglect the fact that my family and I had to suffer from this place because of lack of customer service. Don't get me wrong their food is great and different but their service not so much. Here's what happen. 1) We waited nearly 1 hour to receive our food. 2) There was only 4 tables and one server (which is less than enough for one person to handle), no refills on our waters and no customer service at ALL. 3) They knew they did us wrong so they decided to tell us that some of our food was on "the house," yet they failed to deliver and still charged us. I'm sorry if you have that such a bad customer service then you shouldn't even be open on New Year's Eve. They should of been more prepared. I tried my best to like this place but ended up disliking it the more I try to like it. Due to the fact that they had misled us into thinking some things were on the house!!! Ridiculous!! Their food is alright though. One really good food on the menu was Pad Kee Mao, which might just save this review. If it wasn't so good I would of rated this place one star. Their orange chicken is also great! They are savory and crunchy to the taste. Last but not least their Sample plate with numerous different flavors, which by the way sounds like their signature dish; knowing that their place is called "fish cake factory." It was not as good as it sounds on the menu. If you're looking to explore, don't try it. I would try the Pad Kee Mao for an adventurous taste. read more

The food was of good quality and delicious, we enjoyed it but beware, even the level 1 spice level is SPICY! We ordered through an app and there wasn't a level 0 or an option just to have the base amount of spice in the curry. I am a curry lover and have had it all over the united states and this was by far the spiciest level 1, i've ever encountered. There were 3 of us, 1 couldn't take it so the other 2 scarified our delicate taste buds so we didn't waste. We also got the pad thai, level 1 and it wasn't as spicy so maybe there was a mix up with the curry. The spring rolls and crab puffs/ragoons were delicious! All in all a good take out experience but beware with the spice levels, maybe they can do 0 over the phone? read more

I've been here a few times and it is consistently pretty good. The atmosphere is great. They have modern, thought-out decor and it is one of the better looking restaurants on this end of Belltown. They deliver and take calls for pick up. Definitely useful if you live or work in the area. They are pretty fast -- usually about a 15 minute wait at most. With the exception of our dine-in wait today of 30 minutes. My personal favorites are the garlic and pepper chicken wings and the crab fried rice. All of the curry options are reliably good but not anything out of this world. The prices are avergage and the dining attire is pretty casual. Most importantly, the staff here are usually ALWAYS friendly and not over the top, which I appreciate. We frequent here at minimum, 4 times a month! I gave this place 4 stars for its consistency, reliability, and friendly staff. WELL THAT WENT SOUTH FAST We bought the AmazonLocal deal, $15 for $30 worth of food and they would not allow our 1 table with separate checks to use 2 separate ones. The waitress was very nice and was more than happy to accommodate. Afterwards, a man with glasses who works here, came to our table and said their computer system was unable to stack the AmazonLocal deals. We asked him why, since the bills were separate and he said we were unable to split bills (that can't be real). Afterwards he said we should have told him ahead of time that we had an AmazonLocal coupon. It was a really bad experience near the end and put a bad taste in our mouth for the first time receiving poor service here. He was pretty argumentative and yet at the same time, awkwardly passive about it. I wanted to give a 3 star review because of the experience but that wouldn't be a fair review to the full experience and to the other good experiences we've had here in the past. Our waitress however was great! She was very apologetic for her co worker and friendly. Nearby Petra was packed, so I ventured to the Fish Cake Factory for the first time. Seated and order taken with pleasant service. I had such high hopes for this place, smelled delicious! I wasn't able to bring myself to try any fish cakes despite its restaurant's name, however, I decided on one of the lunch menu items, beef panang curry - two stars. Granted it was ~12:30 pm and not all the tables full, but it literally took 35 minutes to get my order. Steamed rice with panang curry (coconut spicy sauce with tender beef, green beans, green peppers, and red peppers). By then, I was so hungry that I inhaled it within 15 minutes. I noticed three individuals who had it figured out - call ahead and pick it up as takeout. I've been to countless Thai restaurants and it just seemed a bit too long to have so-so beef panang curry. Came here for my last dinner in Seattle and was very pleased. I ordered the Panang Curry with chicken at a 5 spice level(the highest). The Curry came with a side of jasmine white rice. Also ordered the Satay Chicken as an appetizer. The appetizer and my entree were very tasty! It was spicier than I expected (although I wanted it very spicy), but still very good. Just hadn't expected Seattle to have so much heat in their food ;) The service was friendly and good, quality Thai food. I enjoyed my meal here and would come again. I saw this new Thai restaurant via Yelp's new business session. It is not far away from my workplace so four foodies decided to check it out. Upon openiing the door, I was drawn by the beautiful wooden floor, nice big wooden table, and the decor. Not quite like the typical asian place. Although most of the tables by the window close to the pedestrian walk, we didn't experience loud noise nor people watching you eating. From most the yelpers review, we decided to try the fish cakes sampler which has 10 different pieces of fish cakes. I love the variety of each, my favorite is the catfish and the one with crab meat. My least favorite one is the one with Salmon. I guess I just like Salmon alone by itself but not made as fish cake. Service is decent, our water got refilled couple times and the waitress checking on us from time to time. Oh, the peanut sauce is GREAT! The smell is hardly resistable. I put them all over my rice and they blend well with each other. Price is reasonable too. Not the cheapest you can get but with the quiet and well decor place like this, I don't mind to pay like a dollar or two more to enjoy. Street parking only. read more

This level of uncheck quality is DEFINITELY not acceptable!! How could they serve burnt fish cakes to a customer? We happen to stumble upon this place walking back from the Space Needle and am I glad we did! I love good Thai food and this place was fantastic from start to finish. We were greeted by an extremely friendly waiter, sat and served lemon/cucumber water (which my wife loves). We ordered the lobster Pad Thai, seafood fried rice, a salmon dish and chicken Panang. The Panang was the best I have ever had and was perfectly spiced and my wife and kids loved their meals (which I of course sampled all of and thought all were delicious). For the seafood and quality of food we got, this place is way under priced. I wish we would have had room for dessert as they have coconut ice cream, which is a favorite We are visiting from Colorado for 5 days and this has been the best food we have eaten yet. Only downside is that this restaurant isn't in Colorado, otherwise I'd be there every week. Update: We went back two days later as my family wanted to enjoy this place one more time before we leave for home. Not only did the waiter greet us, but remembered we were leaving for Colorado AND remembered everything we ordered last time! My family all ordered the same meal they had last time and it was delicious again (great consistency), I ordered the dish that almost always falters at Thai restaurants...the Tom Kha soup. This was a decent thai place. I was visiting from California, where Thai food seems to come straight from the heavens its so good, and Ti22 did a good job of keeping up. It's cute and cozy indoors, and the staff is attentive and quick. I had ordered pad kee mao, and I told them I was vegetarian but I didn't realize it came with eggs. When I let them know I don't eat eggs, they were quick to replace it for me, which I appreciated. The dish was tasty! One thing to keep in mind is that their spice level is not that intense.. It's unfortunate that this place doesn't seem to be doing to well. I haven't been here enough times to make any guesses. But my experience was great. First, the ambiance in here is amazing. They really have done a fantastic job with the interior decor--it's like a vintage chic. As for the food, so far I've only tasted the curry. I got take out and it was delicious. I personally like my curry a tad bit sweeter/creamier so I heated a cup of sweetened coconut milk to it. But mostly because I ordered a three heat and it was much spicier than I expected. I would DEF DEF eat this Curry again though. I loved it and they give you a great portion. My only critique, and its a tiny one, is that they only give you a build-a-bear size box of rice and it's def not enough for the portion of curry they give you so order extra--it was an adorable box though. :) Cant wait to try out some other item next time I go read more

I tend to judge a Thai restaurant on how well they do a simple phad thai. This has to be the first phad thai I've had in Seattle that does not taste like ketchup was added, but actually tamarind. If they did add ketchup then they fooled me. The color was not a horrid orange, but a nice golden color. I order spice level 3, which had the perfect amount of heat. Nice amount of veggies for crunch. The only downside was that the pork was a little dry. If they used a fattier cut of pork, this would have been the perfect phad thai! The place is cute, the lady sat me at the bar and said "oh just for one" (ok burn) which I was kind of hoping to sit near a window so I could people watch and read my book. But instead she sat me looking at the bar seated next to the speakers for the music. Which was pretty loud, loud enough I got a phone call and had to ask to call them back because they couldn't hear me. The service was pretty quick. The food was alright. I asked for 2 stars for spicyness, and it was more like 6 stars of spicy! My eyes and nose were watering! And I love spice! I was able to eat my leftovers cold later which helped with the spice, but if I go back I will ask for no stars! Wow! The ambiance is beautiful and location is prime. However that's pretty much the best part about this restaurant. The crab cakes had maybe 2 tiny strings of actual crab meat. I'm from Maryland and grew up in crab cakes. These were simply balls of breading with an extreme amount of Panko crust on the exterior. The lamb was too cooked, making the meat rather dry. Same thing with the chicken skewer. The shrimp were also over cooked and consequently rubbery. However their salad was super fresh and the dressing was great. The sauce for the shrimp was pretty tasty but on the sweet side. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT!!! I'd like to come back for a round 2.
