This'll be short and sweet because you can't argue with perfection. I was grabbing lunch for my crew of six, including myself, and the staff could not have been nicer, more patient or helpful. Fantastic service and then that food by God... Their menu is apparently seasonal - which you can't beat - and at the bottom there's a bit of text without a description that simply says, "Chef's Special." I'll tell you now, it was a winner. The Special was a perfectly prepared B.E.L.T. -yes folks, this BLT had a runny egg in it - on sourdough bread w/ avacado spread & truffle aioli and a side of truffle fries. My family (2 adults, 2 kids) enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Thyme on Section last night. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. My favorite part? The chef, at my request, converted the Seafood Nachos into a Seafood Taco Salad. In a nutshell, he put the nachos ingredients - mahi mahi, shrimp, queso, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa - on a bed of romaine lettuce instead of chips. This was, for me, a very healthy alternative to the nachos, and it tasted AMAZING! We will definitely return to Thyme on Section during our next visit to Fairhope! read more

Very early on after my wife & I moved to Fairhope we chose to dine here. While there was nothing that I could call out as bad here other than mediocre service, after having dined at the Wash House and the Fairhope Inn, both exceptional dining experiences, I can say I would never come here again. We spent $140+ on dinner and afterward said something like well we'll never get that money back lol. A completely unremarkable dining experience. We had the salmon & tile fish respectively and a chardonnay from the really-needs-some-work wine list that was right out of Wine List 101A territory where whoever is managing that either doesn't have a clue or the owners won't spend any money. The place was crowded but there's a small lot on the main road nearby. We had to sit outside and were freezing until a table opened up in the sun (gas heaters would've been great). However, this weekend we were attending the Craft Fair in Fairhope and walked by Thyme and saw our chance. We were quickly seated by a very friendly hostess and our waitress was at our table in minutes. She was friendly, knew the menu and was very helpful. My wife and I both ordered burgers, hers well donem mine medium rare. Both were cooked perfectly, seasoned well and full of flavors. The truffle fries were a treat and were excellent. The food was elegantly plated and delivered to our table hot. Overall a great dining experience, excellent service, the food an epicurean's delight, and although a bit pricey it was worth it. It was my first time visiting Fairhope (which is adorable), and we stopped in Thyme which was right next to our hotel. I had the harvest salad, and it was delicious. I'll definitely be adding roasted sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts to my salads from now on. My friend had the burger and said it was one of the best she has had. Man I was so excited about this place. A friend of mine was in town and we looked for a "new and different" place to try. We made reservations here....our party increased to 12 people but they more than happily accommodated our large group. My BF ordered their drink special which was titos, lemon juice, bitters and something else, he said it was once of the best cocktails he's had. $14 each though? I couldn't try it since I am pregnant so I stuck to water which hardly got refilled...lucky for me everyone else was drinking so when I ran out I got their water. On to the food we all ordered the tapas for appetizers. The stuffed peppers were amazing, pork confit toast was good but cold, cheese curds were just OK, pickled jar of veggies was OK along with the olives, crab toast was good and the pork belly was good just not really warm. For main entrees a few of us ordered the pork belly burger. I was SO excited about this and the burger was over done, was missing the cheese, flavor..and was not hot at all. Just a huge disappointment. The fries were good but again cold. My BF got the steak, he ordered he medium rare but it came out so RARE. A few friends got the pork cheeks? Which were OK, I tasted and just was not for me. Another ordered the duck and he really liked it. Not sure how the others felt at the other end of the table because it is a pretty noisy atmosphere. Maybe our party was too big for this place, I am not sure. The only reason I give it 3 stars was the service from the moment we walked in until we left. Being new to the area from San Diego, CA my husband and I have been excitedly trying wonderful new restaurants. After reading an article in a local magazine about Thyme by the bay, and coming onto Yelp to look at the reviews, we decided to travel over to Fairhope for the afternoon on a Saturday to enjoy lunch at Thyme who was praised for focusing on flavor and being "all about the food". Boy were we let down. Even though the restaurant is located in a picture-perfect location, and the building itself has character and is adorable, the food was anything but taste-y. I'm not sure if this was just a fluke in the kitchen for the afternoon because it was near the end of the lunch service or what, but we were extremely disappointed. I had the BLT soup with pecan and cranberry salad. My husband ordered the Gyro and sweet potato fries because they ran out of both the regular french fries AND famous truffle fries. My BLT soup had NO flavor and NO seasoning. It literally tasted like they chopped up some canned tomatoes, fried up some bacon, and chopped some greens and threw them into water and called it good. I had to ask for salt and pepper, and put more than 3 pinches of both in to make it tolerable. I thought the salad would bring nice refreshment, but I was let down again. I am not a picky person people!! I just enjoy flavorful food and this was not it. The salad tasted like it was dressed in plain olive oil. It was in dire need of an acid (lemon juice or at least sweet honey)! And it didn't stop there. Even though my husband's gyro had good flavor (I even tried it) his fries weren't even fried. They were soft and tasted like that had been sitting out for a few hours and were just heated in the microwave. I wish I could redeem this review by saying that the atmosphere of the restaurant made this entire experience better, but it didn't. The entire time we couldn't help but feel rushed and unwanted. The owner and his wife didn't smile at us once or make us feel welcomed. We hurried as quickly as we could to finish because we were so uncomfortable. I thought there was Southern Hospitality in the south?! Unfortunately, we will never go back again. I wish we had a better experience because I want to support "Mom and Pop" restaurants, but this was so, so disappointing. read more

While visiting Fairhope, by chance I happen to see this restaurant. I quick check on Yelp made me go ahead to have brunch at this artistically decorated restaurant. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was not too busy and I easily got a table for brunch. They had a September brunch menu which featured only a few selected dishes. I chose to have the oyster Rockefeller Benedict along with orange juice. The dish came with a side and I chose hash brown!The taste and flavor was fantastic and the portion was decent. Went to Fairhope for my annual visit with my wife and 2 daughters. We Ate out for every meal. Over the years, I've been to just about every place in town but never been able to get into Thyme because it's always too crowded. It's a small place and because their food is good, it gets crowded. After a drive over on Friday we stopped in for a late lunch and we got seated immediately. Mostly locals having drinks and enjoying the view of the bay. We kicked back and started ordering. i ordered the Korean BBQ with gazpacho to start. My wife ordered Fish Taco. My daughter ordered Pork Confit sandwich and my other daughter ordered Chicken Caprese flat bread. All got the truffle fries. Without reservation, I can say that this was the best meal we had amongst all of the places we went. It really isn't even close. The food is 5 star. The menu isn't overdone. The waiter knew each dish and gave good guidance. For dessert, we got Coconut cake and Key Lime pie. I hate key lime pie but this was really good. The coconut cake was the best I've had and that's saying a lot. I love coconut cake and have had some very good samples. This one is outstanding. I know they're moving into town and hope it goes well. Typically, when a restaurant moves, it's the kiss of death. I have a feeling though, with this food, it wouldn't matter if it were served from a truckstop. Good food is good no matter where it is. I'll miss the old spot but look forward to visiting the new one. The location with the view is hard to rate. It's small and a bit rundown but it has a ton of character. It's rustic and it fits with this coastal town. Some might consider the atmosphere otherwise and rate low. Combined with a priceless view, I have to go 5 star on the location. read more

This place is exceptional! Very small and unassuming facade from the outside. I showed up as a storm had just begun bearing down on the area. I quickly ran through the downpour inside and was greeted by the service staff. They told me that the power had just gone out. I assumed that this meant the kitchen was closed. I was pleasantly surprised when they told me otherwise! The cook prepared me one of the best filets I have had in quite some time (in the dark with no fan going nonetheless). I went their to specifically try one of their lunch items I had seen on Yelp which I was told was only available at lunch but the experience was such that I will certainly be going back to get that item in the very near future. read more
