Where do I even start?? I had the most PHENOMENAL experience getting my 2 dresses altered for my wedding. I had a fitted Chinese qipao and a sample A line dress with beading to alter. I had work cut out for Thao! My sample dress had a broken zipper and I had aspirations for more boning, beaded off the shoulder sleeves, new cups, and shortened length. SHE DID IT ALL. My dresses turned out even better than I could even ask for. The pricing was very fair for the amount of hands-on work required for my very particular vision. It was quick, neat, and absolutely stress free. Even though my qipao was custom, the fit wasn't great. My mom bought a dress for my wedding and the sleeves were sooo oddly loose and not fitted. The first place we took it, the lady refused to touch the sleeves and she'll "never touch the sleeves" and "it will ruin the dress". However I knew there had to be someone actually good who could do it. My SIL recommended Thuy after fixing her dress and she is truly a miracle worker! The seams on the sleeves ended up being so stubborn with horrible stitching from the manufacturer, but she still worked on it and did an amazing job! For all those alterations that you think would be too difficult, Thuy is the one to go to! I would trust her with any dress of mine. Thao is amazing! My sister-in-law referred me to her, and she was so accommodating with everything I needed. My wedding was in February 2026, but I was still in the process of losing weight. I initially reached out to her in December, and she recommended that I contact her again in January since I was still working on losing a few more pounds. By the time I saw her in mid-to-late January, I brought in my ceremony dress, reception dress, wedding event dress, and even my mom's dress for alterations. She offers great pricing and gives her honest opinion about what looks best. She is super responsive, professional, and incredibly understanding. Just a heads up--she works out of her home. I got my wedding dress at Anthropologie in Walnut Creek and Thuy's Pro Bridal Alterations was actually on a vetted list of bridal seamstresses in the area. I picked them because they were the closest ones to me geographically, but in hindsight I'm so grateful and feel lucky because it ended up being a wonderful experience. It takes a lot of blind trust to leave your dress with a complete stranger to cut up, only picking it up in the final weeks or even days before your wedding. I called the # listed and was connected with Thao (whose mother is Thuy) and immediately I loved knowing that this is a family business. Thao is very responsive and if she misses your call, you should leave a voicemail and she will get back to you in a timely fashion. Thao got me scheduled in right away for my free consultation within 48 hours of me reaching out. This was in November 2025 and the consult took us about 25 minutes. Initially, we just discussed what alterations needed to be done and we calendared a time for me to come in again for another fitting (closer to my March wedding). We agreed for me to come back in January 2026 after the holidays, to see if my body had changed at all. At the time, in November, my dress was a "perfect fit" and only needed some hemming and a bustle. In January, she quoted me and I paid at my final fitting pick-up. When I returned in January, thankfully, my body had not changed at all. Thao was actually the one who told me that my dress was a perfect fit in a November so beyond my regular diet and exercise, I did not make any major lifestyle changes so I wasn't too surprised when my dress still fit great! She pinned up my dress to prepare to hem four layers and we scheduled out another fitting for the first week of March 2026. This appointment took about 40 minutes. In March 2026, I came and the innermost skirt was a little too long at my second fitting when I tried to practice some moves for my first dance. Thao said she was able to fix it- no problem. She even steamed my cathedral veil for me. I returned a week later for my final fitting and everything was perfect. She sent me off and I got married later that week. I felt wonderful and beautiful on my wedding day, and I wore my gown for over 15 hours. Just this past weekend, I connected with her again to schedule out dropping off my dress and veil for dry-cleaning and some minor repairs. My dress had a few tears and the outer skirt was torn. Thao was really honest about her approach and shared how she planned to repair it and quoted me on the spot. She is really transparent and fast, and her prices are very fair. You can spend hours comparing quotes in the area, or you can just trust me - a really happy bride - and know that depending on how much work has to be done on your gown, you may be quoted somewhere between $200-650 here and her work will leave you feeling like you have -1 major thing to worry about. I think the key to the best experience is less on the seamstress and more on the bride: find a dress you feel comfortable in, one that compliments your body, and perhaps one that doesn't need a million things changed. Lastly, some personal advice: plan ahead- she is super busy and has tons of brides coming in everyday who already have an appointment. Amazing job on the dress! I didn't have a lot of time between the alterations being done and the wedding date, but she did everything very quickly no problem. There wasn't much that needed to be done, she did the bustle, hemmed a little, and adjusted the cups. Only complaint is that her young child was running all over the place in the room with a sticky lollipop (not exactly a good situation in a room with a bunch of wedding dresses!) as well as playing with the scissors right next to where I was standing in my wedding dress. I was referred from Weddings and Dreams where I bought my dress. I called Thao to schedule a fitting. You may have to call a few times to get her on the line. She's super busy. I brought my bridal shoes and wore the undergarments I was planning to wear on my wedding to my first fitting. My dress fit pretty well but needed to be hemmed, needed a bustle, and the bust needed to be made smaller. Not taken in, but the cups were overwhelming for my small frame. I dropped off my dress and the extra fabric for my filipiniana sleeves and Thao went to work. She gave me a quote and a day and time to pick everything up. A few months later, everything was ready. I brought one of my bridesmaids since she needed to learn how to bustle my dress on my wedding day. The filipiniana sleeves were beautiful! I love them so much. My dress was altered perfectly the first time. We needed to make adjustments to the fit of the sleeves so Thao took more measurements and my bridesmaid and I went shopping while we waited. We returned in the late afternoon and came back to perfect the fit of the sleeves. Thao worked her magic until the sleeves sat perfectly on my shoulders. Everything turned out stunning. Pay in cash when you're satisfied with your alterations and ready to take home your dress. Total for my alterations and my custom filipiniana sleeves came out to around $900. I'll be back to Thao when I'm ready to transform my dress into something I can wear every anniversary. I think my corset top and my removable sleeves could be turned into a top or something. Thao did an amazing job with my daughter's dress alteration and custom Filipiana sleeves. The dress had intricate details with lace, sequin and multiple layers. Thao was able to alter the dress bodice and length for a perfect fit. The custom sleeves were so beautiful, great design and execution. The sleeves were made from the extra fabric cut from the extra train. Thao also custom designed and handmade the Filipina sleeves for my dress as well. I didn't have extra fabric, but Thao was able to find a perfect match to my dress. She also designed and hand made the sleeves which looked like it came with the dress. Thao did absolutely an amazing job. My dress was so big on me when I got it from the bridal shop. She made my dress fit like a glove and I felt like a princess on the day of our wedding. At the last fitting, she even corrected part of the bustle so the length can be perfect. She fabricated a detachable sleeve and a french bustle. She made it so that the fabric can be folded in so it's not poofy, but for some reason we couldn't recreate that on the day of. It totally wasn't Thao's fault. She went over the bustle twice with us and we recorded a video, but it just didn't get folded in smoothly like she did. We secured the hooks on the bustle with a tool like she advised and they all held up except one hook, but I was also dancing around a lot. The biggest thing was that I didn't want a gap between my chest and my dress. I never had to pull up my dress during the whole night. Thao had personal things going on after my dress was with her, but she finished everything exceptionally well. She's a true professional. read more

Let me just start by saying--if you're like me and don't know much about wedding dress alterations, do yourself a favor and go to Thuy's Pro Alterations. I originally had my first consultation somewhere else. The seamstress there pinned my dress and showed me a very basic, simple approach to taking it in. It didn't feel quite right, so I decided to get a second opinion--and I'm SO glad I did. That's when I met Thao at Thuy's Pro. She was incredibly detailed and knowledgeable from the moment I walked in. She explained that because my dress was so simple in design, it actually required a very specific type of alteration to avoid bunching or creating unflattering lines. She pointed out how certain areas--like my waist--were sticking out because my torso was shorter than the dress was designed for. Thao was suggested by Weddings and Dreams in Fremont where I bought my wedding dress so I felt good knowing I didn't have to find an alterations person on my own since wedding dresses are so delicate and require a level of expertise. Making an appointment was easy enough - you give her a ring, tell her when you'll need your dress by, and then she'll give you a few times or dates and that's it. My dress has a lot of fabric to it - I needed the bust taken in, the dress hemmed, the bustle to snap onto my back - I mean, this dress needed attention and Thao delivered. I had no plans to try to lose weight before my dress so she took my measurements the first day I met her and I was able to pick up my dress 2 months later. The dress fit great, the price was pretty reasonable in my opinion and cash only. She does work out of her home so it can be off putting for some especially since you can hear kids playing and shouting, but Thao does great work and she's worth a visit. read more

Thao saved my wedding dress. I completed alterations at a different place and most of the alterations were fine except the neckline and straps were not how I envisioned or wanted. When asking the original alterations place if it could be fixed they said "No, that's just how your dress is." I took my dress and felt panicked for the next several days ruminating that this might be how my dress would look on the big day. I called Thuy's Pro Bridal Alterations and she was able to see me two days later. I explained the concerns to Thao during our consultation and Thao got straight to work pinning me and seeing if she could visualize what I had really wanted for my dress. In just a few moments, Thao had pinned up the way I wanted my neckline and straps and I felt a wave of reassurance. Thao explained the type of work that would need to be done to achieve the fix and how it could impact the line of beading on my neckline. I told her that was fine and I understood some of the risks. I needed my dress in about two weeks and she was able to work quickly to meet my deadline. When I picked up my dress, it was perfect. I found Thuy through a friend, I messaged her and got a response the same day. I sent her a picture and description of my dress, she was able to quote me over the phone and see me the next day to get my dress in! Got my wedding dress altered here, whom a few of my friends have gone to and recommended. I went in for a fitting knowing that I had minimal changes -- shorten the length of the dress and the straps of dress. After trying it on for Thao, she recommended that I shorten the torso portion of my dress to match my length of my torso, change out the clips/buttons on the back of my dress to make it more sturdy, on top of the minimal changes I wanted. The adds would definitely cost me more as it was time consuming to remove the floral/beads and put them back after shortening the torso. She wasn't pressuring me to do it, as I was being tight with money, but I knew she had a keen eye for it as she has alter many dresses. In the end, I went with her recommendation and loved it. She was totally right about the torso, it makes a huge difference. Timing wise, I'd recommend to come in early, maybe a few months to get a fitting as she is busy. After that, she'll set a time with you about a week or two before your wedding date to ensure everything fits. Tip: don't forget to bring your wedding heels so you get the accurate length! read more

I had a great experience getting my dress altered by Thao. I first came in with my dress to get an estimate on how much alterations would cost since I didn't want to go with my bridal boutique's in-house seamstress and ultimately decided to go with her after getting some additional estimates. I needed the front of my dress hemmed, the sides taken in and to remove the crinoline from my dress and the alterations were done 2 weeks before my wedding. Here are some of the modifications she added for me: - Open back keyhole design - Added puff sleeves - Took in waist and hip, wherever there was extra fabric - Hemmed to length - Shortened sleeves I want to point out the amazing work she did specifically with the open back design. She created that look out of thin air! Such a time consuming, intricate process. She had to take apart multiple layers of delicate lace in order to reapply the appliqués around the keyhole. I visited Thao on 10/16/2021 (less than a month away from my wedding date) and Thao was able to work her magic! I picked up my dresses on 11/6/2021. Thao worked on both of my ceremony and reception dresses and they fit so well! At first, my wedding dress was a bit tight in the back and my "back fat" was scrunched up lol...not a cute look. Thao was able to let out a bit of the dress, add a bustle, remove a layer of the tulle since it was too poofy, and hem it perfectly. Both dresses now fit my body so well!
