I came on a Saturday afternoon and was able to find a seat easily. The ambiance of this place is quite nice. They have free WiFi and the seats are comfortable. There is a WiFi limit of 3 hours and they will kick you off afterwards :( I ordered the strawberry matcha. At a steep price of $10, I had high hopes but was really disappointed. The cream top was lacking sweetness and the strawberry flavor. The matcha was not bold and was overpowered by the milk :/ I'm just glad they don't charge for milk alternatives. Considering the mid overpriced drink and limit on the wifi, I probably wouldn't come back :/

There's parking in the free city lot behind the coffee shop - if you drive south on Garfield Ave you'll see signs directing you to the parking lot. My friend and I arrived around 2:30 PM on a Thursday to cafe and were thankfully able to find a table. The large communal table also appeared to be pretty empty. I really enjoyed the ambiance here - the music choices provided solid ambient noise without being overly distracting as we worked. The cashier was friendly and was kind to share recommendations on drinks. There is free WiFi for guests (no password needed) and there are 2 restrooms for guests. You can order non-dairy milk options at no additional cost, however I do feel like the base prices are higher than some other coffee shops. My matcha black sesame (kuragoma) latte was $7.50. Unfortunately, I would not recommend ordering the matcha black sesame latte. The drink comes sweetened, however, the first sip was quite bitter, grassy, and watered down. I decided to mix everything together, and while the nuttiness of the black sesame started to shine through, I still found myself disappointed with the taste. The black sesame paste also had a somewhat gritty texture, which was a bit off-putting. Overall, I would return to cafe, but I'd likely steer away from the matcha and opt for a regular iced latte or something.

When I first went here, they were out of matcha. I wanted to choose something that only Three Fields offered. I ended up deciding on the Black Sesame latte. After grabbing my drink, I noticed that they do not put lids on top of the drink which was a first for me. However, they do have lids and other condiments near the counter. They also have free guest WiFi and plenty of seats available. The black sesame latte at first glance is a grayish type of drink with some sesame seeds sprinkled on top. After taking a sip, I could taste the sesame in the drink. The sesame was a good balance in the drink and wasn't too overwhelming. The flavors meshed really well together. I plan on coming here again and trying another drink.

$8 for a very mid black sesame matcha. I did finally try a matcha tonic for the first time here and I did kinda like it. I personally don't think their matcha itself is that good / it's definitely not better than other places nearby. So sad because it looked so promising.

Double Matcha here was solid, but I feel like the sweetener flavor overpowers the matcha flavor a bit. I also wish it were creamier. Still above decent nonetheless and I liked how I wasn't charged extra for oat milk. There's lots of outlets and wifi, but there's a 3 hour limit to the wifi. Not sure if this place would be suitable for a long stay if you want to work/study here. Barista was friendly to me and there's free parking in the back or in the nearby structure. Overall, good experience here and a solid option if you're looking for a cafe/matcha in the area

Stopped by here in between my interviews and I made a great choice. This coffee shop is very spacious and cozy walking in, the barista is friendly and patient enough to give me time to order. It was a warm winter day, I needed something to refresh and clear mind, so I decided to go with the espresso tonic with orange juice. The best choice made of the day, it was so fresh and brain-awaking. The coffee was made elegantly and freshly. Here is perfect for study, computer work and friends hangout (maybe keep the noise down).

I came in on a weekday morning. It wasn't that busy. Some tables filled with people working on laptops or playing games but wasn't busy when I went in. The service was decent and the staff were friendly. Ordered a matcha latte with almond milk and a pistachio croissant. If you like a sweet pastry, then the pistachio croissant isn't a bad choice. They cut it up and filled with a bit of a cream inside. The matcha latte here is probably the clumpiest and grittiest I've ever had. I unfortunately didn't watch how they made it but every sip was very gritty. I unfortunately had left already by the time I tried it. Might come back to try a coffee but I wouldn't order a matcha here.

Been here when they first open. We got a matcha drink and a coffee drink (don't remember exactly which one). Thought it was alright at the time. Gave it a second chance since Uncle Fung was packed. I'm glad we came back. The service was good and whole experience was not bad. DRINKS: Iced Hojicha Latte, add agave & Sea Salt Foam 4.5/5 $9.25. Liked it, but slightly too sweet. It was okay after I added more ice later. Ended up combining leftover Hojicha & coffee together. Tastes pretty good. This drink got pretty expensive. Didn't realize the Sea Salt Foam was $1.25 extra. Thought it was free (came with the drink) when the cashier asked which sweetener & cold foam I would like. Hot Latte, Add Vanilla Syrup 4.25/5 $6.50. Solid/safe choice. Hot Black Sesame 4/5 $6.50. Not bad, but I may be like Da Vien and/or Lotus & Bean's Hot Black Sesame drink a tad bit more. PASTRIES/BAKED GOODS: $4.50. Chocolate Chip Cookie

My cousin introduced me to this spot since it's one of her favorite matcha places in the SGV area and I can totally see why. I ordered a regular matcha latte with oat milk and it was excellent. Perfect balance of smooth, earthy, and creamy. I got it sweetened with agave and it was exactly how I like it. I also tried my cousins go to drink, the double matcha, which had a strong matcha flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. Not overpowering at all. Also don't skip the chocolate chip cookie here. It's insane. Ask for it warmed up and thank me later. Great first experience overall and I'm glad this is on my radar now. Will def be back whenever I'm in the area.

Kouign Amman and Black Sesame Latte
    Tiffany L.

Good matcha lattes. I tried the regular and the strawberry, and thought the depth of earthiness was adequate without tasting too thick. I tried their black sesame latte too, but wouldn't get this again. First, it had a really thick cream top that required a lot of mixing, and most of the sesame flavor was in the cream and not so much the latte itself. I really love black sesame flavor, and would have preferred this more if it was less creamy in texture and more sesame in taste. As far as their pastry offerings go, I really liked their guava cheese croissant. It was crunchy and flaky and the filling inside had a nice balance of tasting sweet and salty. I tried the kouign amann too, but wasn't a fan of the apple sauce filling inside, and it was too sticky on the outside and dry on the inside. I wouldn't come here to work because they have only a 2 hour limit to use the wifi.

I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and agave (no charge for milk + sweetener!). Matchaful's Hikari is one of my favorites, so the matcha here was very yummy for me! It was smooth and not too sweet. The agave gives the drink a mellow sweetness compared to adding honey. I took a sip of the strawberry lemonade and it was pretty tart/sour. I'd add a bit more sweetness to the drink!

I had a good experience at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra). The Iced Hojicha Latte ($7.50 - Whole Milk - w/ Strawberry Purée) is clean, fresh, and refreshing. I sipped happily. (Important Note: Cash is not accepted. This is a cashless facility.) I arrived at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) on Tuesday (around 12:47PM). Parking is easy if familiar with the area. This business is nestled between two parking structures. There's the First Street Parking Facility (behind business) and the large Mosaic Parking Structure (across street). Both parking structures state "4 Hour Parking - 8AM to 5PM." I selected the Mosaic Parking Structure which was a brisk three minute walk. Staff is professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Staff (receipt says Tonya) happily answered all my questions and gave informative recommendations. My drink took three minutes and three seconds. Fairly fast. As mentioned, I appreciated the Iced Hojicha Latte ($7.50 - Whole Milk - w/ Strawberry Purée). The caffeine was very mellow. Strangely enough, it took about 20 minutes before an uplifting perk of energy floated by. The flavors were not bold; rather, there's a thoughtful faint, lingering flavor. The initial sip is strawberry milk. After thoroughly mixing the drink, the main flavor was mostly strawberry milk. Fortunately, this time, the underlying essence of Hojicha shyly wriggled its head through. The Hojicha's roasted, woody flavor profile lingered like a ghost under a downpour of milk. Still, I appreciated the real bits of strawberries in the puree. Regarding ambiance, Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) bordered between hipster and ugly. The long cushion seating is worn-down with unsightly dark stains. The floors look beat up and worn down. And the exterior is very plain; its chipped, darkened paint makes the location appear abandoned. Shockingly, this small business is extremely busy! Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra) is filled with college students. There's a few electrical sockets hidden between those squishy, plush cushions' crevices. There's also a couple hidden electrical sockets embedded on the side of the long table. Thankfully, there's many tables and seats. When I'd arrived, Staff told me that their internet was not currently working. However, Staff explained that there's usually internet for customers; customers would get the internet information by scanning a QR Code on the counter. There's also a gender neutral restroom (...mysteriously with no sign) in the back. In addition, the audio's stereo system is fairly loud and crystal clear. I appreciated the quality acoustics as it played smooth music. There's also a small game corner on the cabinet. Some games include chess, dominoes, Chinese checkers, and others. The location is also dog friendly since there's a pet water bowl with treats near the entrance. Overall, I had a good experience at Three Fields Coffee (Alhambra). The drink has thoughtful flavors; staff is friendly; and this location offers a decent environment to quietly study/work. 4.5 out of 5

We got this with a black sesame flavor and just the standard milk that it came with. -Not too sweet, but the taste of the sesame or even the hojicha can be a bit stronger as we've had similar drinks to this that were more appealing. 2) Iced Chocolate Milk: -I mean you can't really mess this up to be honest. It's mixed well and doesn't taste scathingly sweet like a bottled chocolate milk. My boyfriend got a no sugar coffee here and it still tasted pretty sweet (like unadjusted Starbucks sweet) and it was just tossed into my chocolate milk because he couldn't stomach it. You can taste the taro on top and the salted egg yolk on the bottom when eaten separately. But when eaten together, depending on where your tongue hits, you get more taro or salted yolk. Choux pastry is crunchy. This was delicious and definitely a repeat order too! I asked the owner and they will continue with this new flavor for now. They did not have the Koyamaen Matcha, when I purchased it via HotPlate. They ran out of it when I went to pick-up at the bakery, so they offered a refund or to replace with another mini choux. They brought back the Maple Pecan with Dark Chocolate Coating as a temporary replacement for the Koyamaen Matcha. But I opted for another Taro Salted Egg Yolk. Classic 64% Chocolate, Lemon Delight, Signature Biscoff Crunch were my other mini choux orders. All consistently delicious and done well. Please see my previous review on these flavors. RASPBERRY, ROSE & LYCHEE CROIFFIN This new edition was not part of Hotplate. I had to order it separately in-store. But wow, this was absolutely delightful! The cream had a pink color with swirls of raspberry compote and there were pieces of real lychee inside! The rose flavor was not overpowering, but complemented both the raspberry cream. The croiffin was flaky, crispy and buttery! This is my new favorite, very good and well done! I will continue to order this as long as it is available! JAPANESE BLACK SESAME CREAM TOP Love all things black sesame. So had to order this! This took a bit of wait time, much longer than expected. This was a simple latte style iced coffee with black sesame cream top. You can taste the coffee, but there was also milk in it, so it was a milkier coffee. Once you mix the black sesame cream top, all you can taste is the black sesame. So yes, it is a strong black sesame flavor in this drink. It was good, but not great to order for the second time. ONLINE ORDER Ordered via Hotplate.com. This has been the easiest way to order and pick-up. Super easy and not fussy at all! Once you order once via Hotplate.com, they give you the option for drop alerts via text when Browned goes live for future orders. You can also order directly via website as well. Make sure you have your confirmation email and order number ready for pick-up. CUSTOMER SERVICE Excellent service! They forgot to give me part of my online order and immediately called me and texted me making sure I won't leave without it! The owner and patisserie chef apologized, yet so relieved I did not leave without my order. She was so sweet and kind! I chatted with her as she was packing up my order. INDOOR + OUTDOOR SEATING AVAILABLE No seats for large groups. PARKING Free parking is available at The One Residential in basement P1. You can see Browned straight ahead as you arrive from the parking elevator. Personally, I recommend street parking. If you arrive before noon, there is free street parking right outside of The One Residential. It is much easier to drive out and also the parking garage is very small, dark and very narrow to drive through.

I found Browned tucked inside a mixed-use retail apartment complex. You really have to know it is…read morethere or you might walk past it! It is a bakery from Macau that focuses on crispy cream puffs that aren't too sweet. They come in unique flavors like Earl Grey, green tea, blueberry, and Dong Ding Oolong. I grabbed their six piece cream puff set for my first visit, as I wanted to try out more flavors at once. Luckily for me, I got some of the last few items as the owner explained that they tend to sell out. The puffs run a bit smaller than what you might expect from other competitors; however, it didn't deter me. The spot does not have a lot of seating aside from a few barstools, so you might have to plan for that. Once I got my cream puffs, the texture is what got me. The crispy outside gives a nice crunch when you bite in, then you get hit with soft cream filling that is "not too sweet". With clean flavors that come out without any artificial aftertaste, I really enjoyed what I had. The owner comes from Hong Kong as she used to run a bakery there as well before this. If you have the chance to talk with her you'll see how much she loves what she does. She lit up when asked about the flavors and shared a couple quick stories about her time there. Super friendly. Overall, I left happy and already thinking about when I should visit next. If you have been searching for a cream puff done a little differently, try Browned. You'll be surprised.

Very cute little shop. The shop was clean and ordering was easy at a stand/kiosk…read more The drinks were tasty. We ordered the coconut latte. The coffee flavor wasn't overpowered by the coconut milk. It was nice that there is the less sugar option, so the drink wasn't too sweet. We also ordered the coconut watermelon drink with lychee jelly, no sugar. The drink was delicious. The coconut milk was surprisingly good with the watermelon. The lychee jelly was mixed with crystal agar boba. That would be my only aspect of the drink I didn't like. I wish it was only lychee jelly, as that's what I chose on the menu. I'm sure the mix is popular, but I don't like crystal boba.

A small tea shop in Monterey Park. With such a unique name, which compliments their cute cup…read moredesigns and floral teas, it's a very underrated spot within SGV. Parking - Medium size lot but not many spots to be honest, there's also a 90 minute time limit but that shouldn't be a problem when visiting. Interior is very artsy style, modern but stylish. Plenty of tables inside and free Wi-Fi included. Seem like a great spot to hangout or study. There's a self ordering kiosk which is always a nice sight to see at a tea shop, my partner and I both ordered the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea on Uber Eats which was ready quickly after arrival. Cute cup design, refreshing drink and very floral flavoring. It was the perfect drink on a hot day. Overall, a very underrated tea shop, seem like they have plenty of online orders, friendly staff, and good quality drinks for the price. Not too expensive nor cheap. Highly recommend checking them out.
