So, let's get into it: I don't know about you, but the one thing I do not enjoy doing is driving and circling around, being lost, just to find an establishment. So, I love that this restaurant is so easy to find with good signage, lots of nearby parking, both street and lots. Anywho, once I parked, the manager Judd was so friendly and kind and directed me to the table where my friend was seated. He overheard that I was kind of speaking loud over the music when I barely had a voice due to losing it from another event, so he kindly turned down the music for us. Once there, service was quick and attentive. I got a Fresh Paloma for my drink and the Seared Salmon for dinner. The drink was a good size and tasted good, no complaints there. As for the dinner, WOW. This was delicious, I would get this again. The flavors were there and the portions were just perfect (not too much and not too little, I usually never get enough or leave with leftovers). Also, not overpriced for Miami in my opinion. Aside from that, I did try some of my friend's off-menu pasta and it was really yummy. Furthermore, they have great weekly specials: (Note, subject to change. The service was fantastic and the restaurant was pretty enough (they didn't change much from Fiola's decor). But when Yelp starts off the review with, how you would rate your experience I wish it would break it down by category rather than overall. Because if I'm honest, I would rate my experience with my family five stars. I would say the service was five stars. I would say I had a five star time with my family. However, I think the review is more importantly rating the food because I think that's what people want to know when they look at Yelp reviews, I know I do. I'm sure I could've thrown some steaks on the barbecue, even some porterhouse steaks bought a couple of bottles of wine and I would've had a fantastic time with my family. That's not why we went though at least that's not why I went. We go for the food. That said, let me begin my review. The first thing that stood out was the amount of different kinds of cuts and meats on the menu. I felt like I had gone to a meat and steak workshop and I really REALLY wanted to make a good choice. I asked many MANY questions about origin, cuts etc and learned a lot. I had never heard of a lot of these types of cuts, some from Australia others from Japan, some local all sounded very exotic and delicious. After much, much deliberation, we decided to share the $435 porterhouse steak (pics to follow). I don't know if we had asked so many questions that by that point, we were all confused, but I do not think that the size of the portion was commensurate with the price. We had decided to share it thinking it would be enough for the price, but we were mistaken. If we had 4 to 5 slices each it was too much - I didn't count but not enough for sure. I have to say that was quite a disappointment because I was looking forward to the steak because it was the star of the night and I found myself thinking I had made the wrong choice especially because there were so many options, but for some reason, maybe because of the price we assumed it would be enough and the best. We wanted a wow experience and were willing to pay for it. I wasn't. Wowed I mean. By the way, this was one of the off menu items. I can't help but wonder if I would've been happier and more satisfied and would have had a better chance to relish in the flavor if I would've had more of it, or chosen something else. I mean, $435 for a steak? I don't know about anybody else, but that's a lot of money to me. What we had was certainly good and tender. Was it $435 good I don't think so. Fortunately, we had ordered plenty of sides which helped fill the gaps. Of all, I think the Sullivan Bakery Sourdough Bread with Sheep's Milk Ricotta, Honey & Thyme was the only one that made me go WOW. Photos to follow

To start when we walked up to the restaurant, there was a pretty lady wearing a club style red dress on the phone and didn't even bat an eye when we walked in, so we didn't think she was the hostess. When we walked into the actual restaurant, it looked cool however considering the owner is Alex de Gente de Zona, the music sounded like someone turned on 101.5 Lite FM. It took about a minute for the hostess to walk in and greet us (the lady in the red dress) and take us to the table. As we perused the menu, I got excited by the selections. The server Ashley (I think that was her name) was great. Extremely personable and loved her candor about our selections and making sure we ordered enough food. However she informed us that a few of the plates we were most excited for, were no longer available and they were redoing the menu. At the end of the night the food was mediocre for the price. I'm giving it 3 stars because I might consider having drinks there but may never go back for dinner. The music started changing slightly as we were paying our bill. could have been the night? Don't know but that doesn't excuse the food not being worth the price.

The service was efficient and friendly, Ken took great care of us and made sure everything flowed smoothly. The menu has a great variety and everything is beautifully presented. I started with the sweet-sauce chicken wings, perfectly crispy and full of flavor, followed by a round of tacos, some with beef, others with chicken, fresh and well balanced. I also had the chance to shake things up with an espresso martini or known as RumWake. It had all those rich coffee aromas and an interesting twist from a banana nut texture. It was good, but I still prefer the classic version. Their mojito, which I usually don't enjoy, totally surprised me, bright mint notes toned down the sweetness just right. At Mamey, they call it the "Mint Condition," and it's definitely worth a conditional try. The one drink I liked the least was the Serata, essentially an Aperol spritz with Asian gin blended with Prosecco. It felt watered down and the flavors just didn't come together for me. Overall, Mamey delivers a unique "island-minded" experience that blends flavors from the Caribbean, Asia, and Latin America. Between the beautiful setting, creative menu, great cocktails (with a couple of misses), and attentive service, it's a spot I'd come back to for both casual nights and special occasions.
