Absolutely horrible and a complete rip off. They have the nerve to charge the customer a fee to use their card reader. On top of another fee when you pay by any credit card. So why am I charged to use their equipment? 3% charge to use their card reader then another 3% charge for the credit card. Place smells like an airplane bathroom too. Food is bad and overpriced. This restaurant has more restrictions than any other restaurant I have been to in my life, and I have been to the good ones. I received 2 text messages and a phone call to confirm my reservation and reminding me all the restrictions: you cannot arrive early, after 10 minutes you lose your reservation, no valet parking, no more than 2 hours at the table, after 11 PM minimum consumption, elegant/formal dress code, and I can go on. Honestly, I was about to cancel my reservation but decided to go to see what is all the fuss was about. I dressed up "elegant and formal", and to my surprise, there were people dressed almost in gym or house clothes. Another surprise, the menu is very simple, the typical dishes from any Cuban restaurants in Miami. The presentation of the food was very nice, and all the food items we tried were delicious. The prices and the food portions were fair. The service was good, not formal but very friendly and fun, cuban style. Lazaro and Amanda did a good job. The food was always on time, drinks took little longer. I liked the drink menu; it was interesting. The drinks were good, unfortunately all on the weak side. It would be good if they include some straight up cocktails as well. The wine list, irrationally expensive and all from California. The place is pretty, and I loved the vibe. I missed the latin music, I did not understand why all the music was pop or house. I had a great time, I see myself coming back, I just think they create the image of a high-end restaurant, and it is not. read more

The most beautiful restaurant with amazing food and unbelievable service. We tried the three different soups that they had and they were all delicious. We also tried the lobster enchilad and the pork tenderloin. Everything was exquisite. Great ambiance. The food was good nothing out of this world. The service was not very attentive or professional, mediocre at best. We spilled a drink infront of a server and he just acted like it did not happen , we had to ask for napkins and a clean up ourselves. Drinks were strong so that's a great thing. When the bill came we had to review it as there were extra drinks charged and sides that were supposed to be included with the dish. FYI the "happy birthday" tiny flan is $100. Recently, my family and I dined at lo de alex with high hopes, but unfortunately, it turned out to be just mediocre --nothing special. We were a party of eight and felt quite rushed during our meal. After just two hours, we were asked to pay and leave because the tables were only available for that timeframe. Ironically, other tables had been seated before us and were not asked to vacate. To make matters worse, when we were asked to leave, I was still enjoying my glass of wine, and some of my family members were sipping on their drinks. It seemed like we weren't consuming enough to meet their standards, despite our bill totaling $860! As for the food, it was decent but nothing to rave about given the prices. We were also looking forward to a show that was advertised to start at 9 PM, but it didn't begin until 10:30 PM. The table itself was very small, making it difficult to move around, and we could hear every word from the conversation at the neighboring table. Lastly, the service left much to be desired. The servers seemed untrained and, to be honest, a bit rude. We went on 1/1/2026 to celebrate my son's 12 birthday for dinner time. First, I called to make a reservation and specify to the hostess about the special occasion. She tried to sell me $100 happy birthday sort of mini show they do, which is ok, but I was not interested in that. I told her just wanted to do typical celebration that is done in many restaurants by ordering desserts and surprising him with a candle and sing birthday song. When we arrived to the restaurant I reminded her again about the birthday and again she tried to sell me the $100 show. I told her to let the waitress know about special occasion. Clearly, she didn't. Well, the waitress service or attention was very mediocre and poor. She was barely at the table giving service. We had dirty dishes on the table for a while. When we finish eating apps, which were about 5 total, I ordered another app and main courses, but specify to bring me first the app, which they did, however we had to wait 5 min to get sharing plates and cutlery, and the waitress was talking on the corner with another coworker, and I just was ordered with her all food, so I guess she was aware that we needed plates and cuttlery. I had to ask for it to somebody else since the waitress was lost and careless. What bothered me the most was that my son told her that it was his birthday, and she replied with a cold and emotionless happy birthday comment. Long story short , we went there expecting very charming treatment as us cuban's usually are recognized for, especially when you are celebrating something, and left with huge disappointment. When the busser( he had blonde hair and was skinny) brought us the dessert, I told him it was a birthday and his replied was giving excuses about it, like implying look you did not pay for special $100 mini show, so this is what you get, some mediocre treatment birthday celebration if so because not even that we got. At least for his answers this is what I interpreted he meant. We spent $600 for party of 3 adults and 1 kid and they could not even sang happy birthday song and make my kid's night special. Things to notice: They charge you 'Service Charger' 3% on the bill( I do not know what is this)? They include the tip or gratuity 18% and of course at least my waitress did not mention it. But not only this, also they give you a tip suggestion based of the total bill meaning that if you are not aware of this you ending paying two times the tip whatever it is. I do not like shady and hidden things. Why would they be posting total tip suggestion of the bill after charging you 18%? Why not just extra 2,3 or 5% for instance? That is not right in my opinion. I give you 2 start reviews, so you can improve these things in your restaurant. By the way this was my 2time visiting your restaurant. The first time, you just were opened it. I did not celebrate anything but everything was on point, attention, service, food, ambiance, from the hostess to the waiter, busser, but not this 2nd time unfortunately. Food and ambience was great, fantastic by the way. I still would recommend this restaurant to people because it is beautiful, cozy and food is great. Service was attrocious. Stopped in Saturday night for snack, drinks and a good time. Sat at table, asked multiple servers for service, they all said one sec and never came back or got us the server. Ended up walking to the bar twice to get a round of drink becuase servers seemed un-interested in helping. Finally complained another server who took over our table and helped us out the rest of the night. Place was fun but a bit over rated and way overpriced. Hookah for $150! Well , let me start saying that I love supporting local businesses, but they need to earn their clientele as well and have respect for the business you're bringing to their establishment. I really can't say what this is? If is a restaurant , a bar or a nightclub... definitely none of them,,, food is awful, cocktails are beyond bad , service is extremely mediocre and then you have a super loud music in a place that it's set up as restaurant, where, you're having dinner and have no space to dance at all. I highly think they need to rethink their concept... Is overpriced as well for what you can expect, you're having a La Carreta style quality dishes but paying the prices from Brickell, it really doesn't make sense to me. I came to Lo D Alex for brunch expecting a nice atmosphere, but at 3:30 they turned off the music and put on a soccer game that wasn't even important. When I asked if they could leave the game on the screen but bring the music back, they refused. The frustrating part is that no one was even paying attention to the game -- there were only two people at the bar and they weren't even consuming anything. I would not recommend this place. It's very overhyped and you can tell people only go here because of it's name. You receive very little food for the amount that your paying. Furthermore, the food isn't that good. I personally ordered the lobster and shrimp risotto it had 3 shrimps and the lobster was very salty. The service was horrible, the workers are so rushed that it looks like they re racing to not see you, you try to order and it's impossible because they are doing god knows what, I wanted an arroz con leche and couldn't even get it because they kicked us out since they had "another reservation" , why would you kick eating customers ???. The ambiance was pretty, but it's super crammed and you can barely walk with those big home chairs that make you constantly bump into others, it's more looks than good food, matter fact the food is 99.9% plate and 0.1% food, and please fire the Dj or whoever was putting those old gacha life 2014 songs. . Worst place ever! From the start we were seated without a reservation but from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a disaster. The food was horrible--overcooked, bland, and clearly not fresh. I've had better meals at a fast-food joint. But that wasn't even the worst part. The service was beyond atrocious! The staff seemed completely uninterested and unfriendly, as if we were a burden rather than customers. We could barely get their attention, even to place an order. To top it all off, we were kicked out because we didn't have a reservation, even though the restaurant was half-empty! I have never felt so humiliated in my life. I'd like to start by saying the service was excellent! Our waitress was phenomenal!! Upon entering, the esthetics are wonderful! One drawback is that there is not much of an entrance if you are with a larger party. Another drawback is the gentleman seating guests had an overwhelming amount of cologne on! The menu has some unique offerings, so we tried 4 different appetizers. We had croquettas de bacalao, frituras de malanga, chicharrones, and totstones relleno de camarones. All was good except for the chicharrónes. Main Courses: we ordered the ropa vieja, camarones enchilados, and a lamb dish. It was ok, nothing spectacular. We asked if we can swap out tostones for maduros (same price) and we were told that substitutions were not allowed!! It's not a huge menu so we found that a bit ridiculous! Finally we ordered 2 cafecito bonbon and an espresso because they don't make Cuban coffee (weird, right?). The cafe bonbon was wonderful and beautifully presented. Now the annoying part... there is an 18% "service charge" added to the bill, but that is not your servers gratuity! It was explained that the service charge is for the restaurant to cover the staff's salary!!! What?!? Anyway... that was a guarantee that we won't be returning. And before you ask, yes! We tipped our waitress a generous 20% on top of their ridiculous service charge! read more

Driving by and decided to give this place a try early Friday... immediately greeted by some arrogant bouncers saying we needed a reservation to even go to bar. Sorry, so many options in Miami, will not be coming back! This place is very nice but the service was not very good, they also added two water bottles to our bill when they brought them on their own so we thought it was included and they were $6 each. The food took very long to come out, they also started cleaning our table while we were still seated making it very uncomfortable. I just felt like the treatment was not very good. Terrible, my family and I switched our minds from Isla del encanto to trying out this place - terrible mistake. The service is subpar, you have to remind your waitress for water and utensils. To mess up a churrasco order that says a lot for a restaurant, we originally ordered a filet mignon medium cooked but was well done so we changed it for a churrasco and it was so rubbery. I mean you really had a jaw workout, you had to chew and chew so much that everyone at the table gave up and just decided to get up and just pay.
