I received a referral to try Thompson moving company. I'm so glad we did! Frank was there on time and his crew even got there before he did. The company came completely prepare for everything I had to move. Frank pulled out: Shrinkwraps, pulleys, throw covers I mean they were completely ready... Shrink wrap? Absolute worse experience. This company was forced on us due to renovations and we were given less than 12 hours before our items were being put into pods for storage. Everything was fine during the pack in, but the pack out was where things went wrong. The pods were delivered 3 hours before the movers in 116* heat, so things were damaged just from being in the heat that long. Ceramic heirlooms were wrapped together without bubble wrap, wood furniture was scratched and dented. I sent Frank Thompson, the owner, photos of the damage and asked what the process was. That went unacknowledged. After 3 weeks (I travel a lot for work), I reached out again to find out what the process is to make things right and get the run around on scheduling the owner to show up to our house. Another month later and we're still getting the run around from Frank. We're filing a claim through our insurance and letting them deal with the restoration company, which is unfortunate because they were generally great during our home repairs. Thompson Moving were AMAZING!! Frank and his crew are the MASTERS of professional movers. Frank was in the area and stopped by our house to give us a proper quote of what we we'd be paying. Plus, once our 16' POD got delivered I suddenly became nervous if our whole house could fit in there! Frank said, no problem! We were able to be scheduled quickly. They showed up on time and also received a message of an exact time of arrival. They placed mats throughout the house and even doorways. Everyone worked very fast and effectively with properly securing/wrapping bedroom furniture, televisions and other fragile items of ours. I didn't order enough moving blankets but Frank had a moving trailer with any other additional supplies that were needed. Definitely took the stress out of "moving". Worth the money!! We hired Frank and his team to move us locally. Unfortunately it has been the worst moving experience of our lives, and we have moved a lot. We had him move our belongings into pods to store for 3 months, and then move them to our new home. I was in the hospital during the first part with preeclampsia waiting for the arrival of our twin boys. He took advantage of the situation and overcharged us for materials. He makes everything sound like he is doing you a favor, but in reality his ethic is shady. He double charged us for tax (which he ended up reimbursing us for AFTER I caught him). He also says he will "do you a service" and if you break down your boxes, he will pick them up and charge his next customer for used boxes astronomical amounts. He charged us thousands for boxes that were used probably 4 times already due to the labeling from other moves. He charges you for every single material that most movers include in their cost. On the second part of our move the pods arrive and he acts like he had given us the keys (he never did). So he has to cut the locks. The move started at 8am and at 9:30am he asked my husband if my husband could figure out what to do about lunch (since he did it last time) and go to in and out to buy everyone lunch. We always buy lunch for the crew, but not at 9:30am!!! One of his guys dropped a weight on our brand new tile and shattered it. Frank had the audacity to DENY they did it. It took my husband screaming at him for him to finally admit. Then frank stopped the entire move (still charging us hourly) and went outside (we are in a new build community that is still being worked on). to find a tile guy to fix it so he didn't have to pay us to have it done for cheap without proper disclosure and steps that would void our warranty. We obviously didn't allow that so got a $300 credit (which didn't cover the cost to fix) . We had to yell to even get that. We had paid ahead for 4 months of storage and he had said he would reimburse us for any time not used. Well we only used 3 months and he tried to be shady on our refund at the end of the move. He kept trying to make it sound like he was loosing money, when in fact he was the one who charged us and set it all up. In the end we ended up paying $9,000 for a local move and 3 months of storage in 2 pods. We used Frank Thompson and his team twice in the past month and could not be more pleased with their work. First they loaded everything into the Unit we had rented, and the night before I was so afraid they wouldn't be able to fit it all into that "tiny" container! These guys are great at the Tetris skill of using every available space, and protecting art, TVs, and furniture with lots of blankets and packing tape and material. These guys did an amazing job, and I did not make it easy on them!! We used units AZ for our storage container, and they recommended Frank and his team. We moved from a four bedroom house to a two bedroom condo and had to fit everything into a 16' storage container. They were flexible with the load and unload dates, as our schedule changed. I had them moving a grill, tempurpedic bed, fire pit up and down stairs. They use runners to protect the floors and made sure I knew what was going on at all times. Worst move of my life! I told Frank up front that I would need help packing. Each time he showed up, he never brought enough materials with him. And he kept cutting the amount of work he did on any given day because he had run out of packing material. It took him 5 weeks! He cancelled my extra container without discussing with me then when down to the last day, left me with so much stuff, my neighbors had to help me move a heavy dining table and my heavy iron patio furniture and barbeque, garden hoses etc to their houses. He was supposed to pack the kitchen but on the last day before I had to turn over the keys, I found whole cabinets he hadn't packed. He yelled and screamed at me that "I" hadn't done enough myself! He destroyed my furniture with large gashes in my wood dining console, my white leather office chair was shredded in 3 places and has a permanent indentation in the back. He said it was my fault because I didn't provide him with enough packing quilts. I had 2 professional packing quilts. Things are missing- one expensive thing worth $899. He threatened to not move take my plants last minute and so much more. And this is my first container! The 2nd one hasn't been delivered yet!! I can't even express my horror at his behavior telling me I had too much stuff!! He stayed in the garage, set himself up with a chair and drink and when I looked for him, he had disappeared more than once.Because he got rid of the 3rd container, there was no place for the clothes in my closet so he told me the only way he could pack them was in black plastic bags! Everything is so wrinkled, I will have to iron everything from my walk in closet. I haven't found my iron. It is so overwhelming after moving. He charged me the full rate for the time he didn't work, but his billing for packing materials wasn't detailed on the invoices. He slopped his food on my white office cabinet which was inside in my office clean until he used it for a lunch table, but instead of cleaning it up, he shrink wrapped the cabinet with the stuff under it so now it has stained my white cabinet. I have tried cleaners, but it won't come off. It was sealed in during the summer heat. When I told him I would write this all up, he threatened me saying "I know where you live" which I reported. He underestimated my move, never showed up with the 2 guys he promised- not once. When I kept reminding him how little time I had left he became angry and said it was not his fault. That's the answer to everything. And, he constantly said he would walk off after he had eaten up any time I had to find someone else. When I would ask him why he was charging me for him sitting out in the garage talking on the phone, he turned his back and went outside. I had a box marked personal my bedroom with lingerie in it, but he took it and opened it and now I'm missing something of value. I can't prove he took it but who else could have? He wasn't supposed to take that box marked specially by me. I guess it made him curious. I'm appaulled at his behavior and the amount he charged me. I paid $3000 when I moved in with packing and this move ended up costing me over $6000. He has an excuse for everything and no doubt he will answer this review by blaming me! He says I can't prove he did the damage, but how else would it have been damaged when he was the one who packed the container! Then he said he couldn't be held responsible for the damage because I used another company (because why would I use him after this awful service) to unload! So he said I can't prove he did it. I was standing right there when they unloaded this container and of course they didn't ruin anything! Like I said he has an answer for everything! Never had a "crew". He brought one guy, a different one every time. I hired him in May when we did the walk through and this was the result July 6th! We used Thompson Moving to load a 26 foot U-pack trailer to move across the country. Frank and Gabriel were on time, friendly, communicative, and very professional. I had expected our stuff to fill one and a half trailers and was ready and expecting to pay for that much. (U-pack charges by the foot used.) These guys were concerned with saving us as much money as possible and they packed our stuff from floor to ceiling SO meticulously that they only used a half a trailer for all our stuff! Their amazing packing job saved us $900 on the first trailer and now we don't even need the second trailer saving us another $2300! They wrapped everything up really nicely to keep it safe and made some good recommendations on how to unload it when we get across the country. Buyer Beware!!!! Frank at Thompson Moving was suggested by a driver for Pack Rats storage units. He arranged 2 more storage pods from "Units". Frank ended up charging exorbitant charges for straps, and blankets as well as other materials, fuel surcharges, hundreds of dollars in taxes, and extra surcharges for using a credit card. None of which were discussed beforehand, and definitely not at the amounts that he ended up charging us. A move that should have cost $2000 ending up costing close to $5000 (this being the added surcharges, crazy markup on materials, added cost for traveling , extra CC fees and taxes). Frank and his crew did an amazing job moving our 3 bedroom house this weekend. They showed up 15 minutes early and completed the move an hour faster then I expected. Their base rate was more reasonable then most but the service was outstanding. We put our belongings in a storage pod (Units and Storage who are also amazing). They managed to get all of our items totally protected in a very small space. They took apart all of the furniture that wouldn't fit and packed it safely. The crew was super nice and polite. Great movers! We needed dining room furniture moved the next day, from Goodyear, AZ to Fountain Hills. We called and they were able to do the move, the next day, and for a good price. The movers were not able to get their truck and trailer into our driveway, because of the steep entrance, from the road. I used Thompson Moving at the suggestion of the manager at Units. I was told he would have packing materials. I made arrangements with Frank for the move; his two employees arrived timely; worked very hard and and, in my opinion, were quite good. Frank showed up late and spent time going to pick-up packing materials. Overall, I thought Frank was a little aggressive on the hours he billed, but it was acceptable. However, the shock I received was for the material costs he billed. Certainly, I expected to pay a reasonable price for the boxes and packing materials, that is not what happened. Frank charged $1,005 and a whopping 1013 for materials and a "fuel surcharge. I priced the cost of materials from Home Depot and some online retailers and believe that the value of the materials provided could not reasonable exceed $300-325 including tax - less than half what he charges (he said he does not include a mark-up on materials). Frank then added another $263.25 for tax. Tax would only be due on materials and even at the amount he claimed for materials would only have been $55 (assuming 8% tax). Final Frank added a $70 "Fuel Surcharge". This had never been discussed. He did not bring a moving truck; he did not transport any goods -- what is the charge for and why was he not upfront about it. I addressed the charges with Frank and he indicated that he would make an adjustment to correct things. I never heard from Frank again. In summary, BUYER BEWARE! Most of us don't look at the material cost - we assume the vendor will be fair. I found this not to be the case read more

I contacted Frank the owner on Wednesday 2.28.19 about unloading my 26' Penske truck when I arrived in Glendale from Illinois. I found Thompson Moving on Yelp and after reading the great reviews I decided to utilize their services. I scheduled the unload for 3.5.19 and Frank and 2 more workers arrived at 7 AM sharp as promised, they placed cardboard and rugs on the floor and stairs to protect any surfaces. He also had ramps for over thresholds and elevation changes. My wife and I are very happy with Thompson Moving and highly recommend them.
