I do not recommend this company. I moved from AZ-CT March 2025 and paid over $4,000 plus additional $200 in tipping movers just for multiple items to be delivered damaged, including my $2k mattress arriving completely soaked. Movers didn't shrink wrap the mattress, didn't unscrew nightstand legs which are now broken, and the tv stand is damaged because movers asked to add items inside even though I had it empty. Their way of helping was refunding $150 to get a temporary mattress from Walmart and told me the claims department would be in touch in 3-5 business days. In the end they only compensated me $900 despite the thousands of dollars of damage. In addition to the damage, one of the movers the company set up for the CT delivery made inappropriate sexual comments to me while I was alone (I'm a young female). Do not use them! read more

Recently I had to make a pretty quick move from Scottsdale, Arizona to Austin, Texas, but since I had no furniture and only boxes, it was tough to find the right movers. I put in an out-of-state moving project request here on Yelp, as well as on a few other moving websites. A lot of the movers responded to me, but the majority of them pretty much told me that my move was not worth the time and effort since it wasn't a full house with furniture. Many of them told me it would be best if I got a U-Haul, packed it myself and drove it to Texas. Considering the fact that I was a female moving on my own, that wasn't an option. I wasn't willing to drive a truck that I have no idea how to drive to a faraway place I've never driven to before.... And alone! Luckily, NorthStar Moving Company reached out to me through Yelp, and when I called them, I could immediately tell that they were different. I initially spoke with Valery, who ended up working with me throughout most of the moving process. She was really kind, listened to my situation and quoted me a reasonable price. She followed up right away with an email outlining everything. I called a few other movers after, but no one gave me the good vibes that she did. I'm really glad I listened to my gut! My situation was a little tricky because I was going to Austin and didn't have a place lined up yet. I was not coming back to Scottsdale, so I would have to sign off on someone else being present to release my boxes. NorthStar was able to work with me on this, and I signed a form that allowed the other person to be there when my boxes were picked up in Arizona. Once I found a place, I contacted Valery and she completed setting up the move. I signed everything and we set a date for the boxes to be picked up in Arizona. She explained the window of time that it might take for them to get to Austin. When the day came for the mover to pick up my belongings, it was even quicker and easier than I imagined. Although I was not there, I had packed all of the boxes on my own and had them waiting by the door. The person who was present for/signed off on that day even commented to me how quick and professional the movers were. Now I just had to wait. Alejandra was assigned to the next part of my move, and she let me know every update right away. I was really impressed by how communicative everyone was that I worked with at NorthStar. The day my boxes were scheduled to leave Arizona, there was a small mechanical issue with the truck, but they had it fixed quickly, and it didn't even delay the delivery. I was quite stressed out about a lot of different things during the whole process, but the fact that everyone at NorthStar kept me informed of exactly what was going on allowed me to worry about one less thing. It can be very nerve wracking to not know where all of your life's possessions are, but Valery and Alejandra put my mind at ease the whole time. The day of the move-in went flawlessly, and I appreciate that the movers were able to work with the desired timeframe of the building that I moved into. The movers were very friendly and it was quick and painless. Right away, I noticed the boxes were in the same condition as when they had picked them up. During many moves in the past, I've had boxes show up all dirty and smashed up. And once I unpacked everything, I was happy to see that there was not one item that had broken! I can't say enough about what a dream it was to work with everyone involved in my move. I'm also happy to know that they have a location here in Austin, so if I ever need to move again in the future, I can work with them. These guys are very sketchy. First I reached out to them to get a quote but apparently they didn't want the business and after a while they responded that they can't do my move. Next, I was moving my stuff and I saw them at the self storage facility where they had parked parallel the gates and had blocked all the entrances. When we asked them why they responded in a very aggressive manner. A minute later, I was pushing my cart and the only way to go was between their truck and the curb; however, they had blocked the path and didn't want to move. The whole time they were staring at me like animals and while we were passing each other one of the guys kept staring at me like he wanted to fight. Pretty alarming that this guy is going into people's homes. I would never allow these guys in my house or let them touch my stuff. read more

I've had several moves in the last few years and Northstar has been the best. The communication was fantastic from start to finish. My first contact was emailing the customer service rep. Every email was answered within minutes. When we spoke on the phone, she was very courteous and followed up with a phone call to confirm every detail. I had a window when the movers would arrive. I got a call way before the deadline letting me know that they would be arriving late, but within the window. That was a nice surprise as usually when movers, etc. run late, I have to call to see where they're at. Then they said they would have 3 movers instead of two, but I would only be charged for 2 movers. So really good news! They did arrive within the original time. And the movers were fast and handled all my items with care. Nothing was broken, damaged, etc. I wasn't sure where all my furniture was going, and they worked with me as I tried to figure it out. And the three movers were polite, friendly and great to work with. They packed fast and unloaded fast. I was paying by the hour and in no way did they try to slow down to increase the bill (like other movers have done). The movers did lots of extras and I was surprised at how inexpensive this move was. I 've paid a lot more for a lot less quality. The entire move from start to finish was impressive! I hope I don't have to move soon but if I do, I certainly will use Northstar as my moving company. I highly recommend! read more

Let me state first off, the Northstar Moving Company is the ONLY moving company I will use from now on. From the office to the movers, I can't recommend them enough. I had to cancel and reschedule my move twice due to misinformation from the apartment complex I was moving to and everything was handled with a very high level of customer service, care and professionalism. I'll save you all a bit of legwork. From my quote: "Our standard moving package is 3 movers and 1 truck at $199 per hour. There is a 3-hour minimum charge. This includes all the loading and unloading so you won't have to lift a thing. Plus, we also include moving blankets and up to 8 free wardrobe boxes. (that is over $200 worth of value) Of course, any non-reusable supplies are at an additional charge. You can always provide your own as well. We also have moving insurance to help protect your valuable belongings, and we can also pack and unpack for you - replay back with "pack" and the best number to speak with you at for a list of items and sizes. There is a $150 travel fee." They were higher than other quotes on Yelp. Others were not tacking on a ridiculous travel fee. Isn't that the cost of doing business? Movers have to come to you so that fee should be built into their bid. This is especially true if you are looking in their service area. Outside that you can understand the fee, but inside ... robbery. It's that travel fee that prompted me to write the review and give them 3 stars. read more

From the fast quote response from Gabriella who was prompt to return my call and explained every detail possible to ensure I understand each process. Her follow through and check in prior to the move was right on time. She was even easy to accommodate a last minute change in schedule due to my move out day being pushed back. Johnathon was the lead mover for my two man crew. He was professional over the phone and extremely friendly in person. He walked me through the process prior to moving anything. We were very happy with Northstar Moving Compay. I called for an estimate and David came over, went through our house noting every piece of furniture, and gave me an estimate. He was very polite and knowledgeable. We accepted. 4 movers showed up as planned the day of our move. They were very professional and all wore masks. Kyle confirmed the few things we were leaving and they got to work right away. They wrapped up the furniture that needed to be protected and nothing was broken. After my Yelp review below, I was contacted by a Senior Manager to discuss a possible settlement, I was asking 3200$ for the value of the damaged/destroyed antique dining room set, insurance deductible, and appraisal costs...counter offer was possibly $2000...but would relay to the CEO for decision... after waiting over several weeks for the CEO to come back for vacation, the CEO's decision was only $250, the insurance deductible. The CEO Ram Katalan is not an honorable man. He would not honor any offer from his senior manager, basically threw her under the bus. I cannot stress enough my disgust with this company, their poor service and lack of respect for our belongings. Original review...Buyer beware The company will not stand behind their product but leave you to either collect .60$/pound standard move coverage or an inadequate outside insurance coverage. Needed to move in town Phoenix from townhouse to new home with approximately 40 days storage at Northstar facility. I picked Northstar based on reviews, however my experience was not satisfactory. The folks on the phone are friendly when scheduling and relatively efficient but that ended except for words of sorry and they were totally ineffective handling problems with the move. I bought extra insurance $437 to cover my high value items (16000$)but was not offered the proper insurance for the dining room set, which resulted in the valuation of individual pieces vs as a set ... this cost me an extra 2000$ that the insurance would not pay. Several other items broken but at .60 cents a pound, so buyer beware, industry standard is not sufficient. I also had to pay for two appraisals, one for repair and one for total valuation along with a 250$ deductible...so about $900 out of pocket for a 1700$ settlement. The moving crew was inexperienced and the person assigned to my dining set was brand new and not supervised properly. They did not have sufficient inventory forms on arrival. The packing which I paid extra for was not professional nor sufThe offload was hurried and rushed. Don't trust your valuable furniture with this company...I should have used United or another major moving company. On the day of delivery with all the damage, no supervisor or manager would take the time to come out and see the issues with poor box packing by the original crew. Absolutely disgusted with the management response. The CEO Ram Katalan is not an honorable man. First CLASS from start to finish.I was scheduled with a different moving company who cancelled on me literally 18hrs before the move.Thank goodness for Yelp & NorthStar.I called last minute & spoke with a very kind lady name Gabbi who got me back on schedule for my move which was scheduled the following day.She took my info, emailed me some paperwork to sign & confirm & the next morning my moving crew,Austin,DeonTRE and Bryce showed up with mask,gloves and hand sanitizer, on time with a truck ready to move my things out of my storage facility. I even received a phone call letting me know they would arrive at the storage facility in 1hr.They worked well together, very organized, lots of communication & loaded the truck quickly.I was totally impressed.Nothing was dropped, broken nor scratched.I had nothing to assemble but they did ask.They even found & fixed my broken wheel on a box that the previous movers broke & I thought was lost :) They were patient with me while I directed them where I wanted everything & didn't complain at all when I changed my mind a couple of times :) Thanks guys you were truly awesome & the move was a great. I previously wrote about how the move did not go well and that I felt as though I was overcharged while also getting a bad experience. Wendy with NorthStar reached out to me and was the sweetest person. She empathized with me and offered to correct the situation with a partial refund to show how much they value their customers. I wish I had reached out to her/management during the move so that things may have gone differently. They seem to truly care about their customers and I was just unlucky with the one crew I got (hence why I left it at 4 instead of 5 stars). I hired NorthStar moving company for a short distance move (6 miles) on August 7th. The team offered to do the move a day early but I kept my scheduled time. They arrived within the window and notified me when they were on their way. The team was professional and friendly, however my property was damaged during my move. I kept basic coverage because of the short distance and lack of valuables. They scuffed the wood floors and took a chunk out of a bedroom wall when brining my furniture in, and chipped the corner of my dresser drawer. When I showed Johan he said the best he could do was give me $25 off because I didnt pay for additional coverage, however it was recklessness and rushing that caused the damage. On Friday, May 20th and Saturday May 2, 2022. North Star Moving Company has overwhelming succeeded again where no other movers would willingly do for us! This is our third move using them and I'm happy to say they continued to exceed our expectations. I must mention their names because they are the best group of guys. Austin came to our old place first to look over all the things we would take and pack. After he looked and gave us an estimate, true to his word, North Star never exceeded the rate. Our one day job turned into two days and one, very late night. We were blessed to get Noah (the team lead), and his team: Grandville (G), Jose and David-who helped on Friday but not able to come on Saturday with the rest of the crew which returned for both days. Anyhow, this group of guys were honest, reliable and careful, not just of our stuff (prescriptions, gold & silver collection, jewelry and money) but of their time as well. I asked Noah why he kept looking at his watch and he told me that they were taking a five minute break and then get back to work! I was blown away! Truly, they looked out for us in other ways as well. They made a total of six trips back and forth from our old place to the new house. They set up all the furniture that they took apart too. They stayed with us until midnight. They would not leave us high and dry by stopping off furniture and leaving. They placed down carpets, made sure all beds were put together so we could sleep on our own mattresses, put their own carpet runners being respectful of our new flooring. They even opened one box because my son forgot his medication and they knew exactly where it was since they labeled the boxes for us! This was no ordinary move either. We had so much furniture, and I am older so I needed the help packing as well. This group of great guys went out of their way to make sure things were done right. Our breakable items and furniture arrived in perfect condition too. We bought them food and drink. They never asked for this, but we felt compelled because of who they are. Wow! I'm so happy I went with this moving company! Kyle, AJ, and James were awesome! As soon as they got to my apartment they asked a few quick questions and got right to work! Wrapped up/covered the furniture that needed to be protected, was careful with all the furniture while carrying it through narrow spots, they were very gentle with the boxes labeled "fragile" (and respectful towards all the other boxes as well..they weren't just throwing them around or dropping them on the floor), and most importantly they were very very professional and trustworthy. When they first arrived not everything was fully packed (because I planned on just carrying over some stuff myself later on). I had some jewelry sitting in a jewelry box out in the open and some designer purses and shoes, etc laying around still needing to be packed up. I was in and out of the apartment several times and felt completely comfortable leaving my expensive things inside the apt while one or two of the guys were still inside (without me inside with them) taking apart furniture. Overall, they were fantastic and I highly recommend! They were quick, but did the job right and not half-a$$ed, made sure all the furniture and boxes were placed exactly where I wanted them, friendly and professional, and the price wasn't bad at all especially considering the quality of service. I was so pleased with how the move went that I gave the team a very generous tip and I don't regret it one bit...and hopefully future customers will do the same because these guys were awesome and deserve it.
