We used Not Your Husband moving co twice now. Once from a one story house to a three story townhouse. Second was from the three story townhouse to a two story house. Would highly recommend them to anyone, especially people with younger kids and is unable to physically move things when you don't have sitters. During our second move, I was literally one week postpartum so I couldn't have been more grateful that they squeezed us in with only a few days notice. When booking, they are communicative and were quick to respond which I liked. They also arrived within the time window that was promised and would call when they're on the way and would provide an ETA also. Overall, we had some hiccups but I would still say it was an okay experience. I chose NYH Moving because of the good reviews and got a quote for a 5.5 hour move. We were happy to support a family owned and operated business but I'm posting a full experience here because I would have wanted more honest reviews as a consumer. The good --the guys were super nice. They were polite and if they weren't sure about something they asked us. Our houses had pretty minor scuff marks/wall hits and we have some tricky corners to maneuver. The not so good -- our 85" $2200 tv was damaged sometime between being taken down and remounted by a different company. I can't prove it was NYH moving but they put our 85" and 55" tv in the same box with loose furniture blankets draping the TVs (did not cover the big tv completely) and our damage oddly lines up where a corner of the 55" tv would be. It is simply "he said she said" but TVs should never be packed in the same box. We received a $400 refund which they were not obligated to do but the loss still hurts from our end. I'm posting this here simply because I would have wanted to know --NYH does incentivize their employees to ask for reviews on google. Customers receive a small discount for writing a review on the spot and the guys receive a small bonus as well. Wish you were more honest from the time of making the appointment. Hyping up your team as pros is far from the truth. I gave them a 20 minute break to get food because they said they haven't eaten since the morning, I hadn't either, they needed to sit down at the end of the day to look at the bill, I was nice to let them sit on my new chairs but they should know better not to sit being all sweaty and seeing us your customers standing next to you, very disrespectful and unprofessional. Our culture lives around being super clean and respectful, this crew was not. I think a bunch of high school kids would have hustled harder and faster. How many times you need to move items in and out of the truck, my wife and I had to bring things out to the side walk for them. And you still round up and charged me more. Our last movers moved my whole home in 8 hours, you took 6 hours for 30% of our home. Very very slow. $205 for 3 man grew is the most expensive quote I received (plus needing to pay for all little materials that wasn't told, very cheap) but since a good friend recommended, I thought I give it a shot. BE WARNED, If I could put negative stars I would. This company offers price discounts for leaving high star reviews. Don't trust the rating. This may be the least professional company I've ever hired. And I will NEVER do it again. These men showed up late(and charged me for it) the required me to help them (and then blamed me for their damages to my home) they mislead and misinformed me into signing a contract(which the stated was "just permission to enter my home and move the furniture to the next house") and they lied about cost from the start(they stated on the phone that it was 150 an hour and 262 just for a flat trip charge rate. Which they changed and charged me more for). I asked them about extra insurance just incase they broke my tv, and then after not adding into a phony "contract" that some dude on a phone apparently handled. I'm hey may me pay them two different times because of their mistake. What should've been a simple moved turned into a nightmare. All of this I was okay with paying for and letting slide, as long as they fixed a small ding in my wall which they caused. BUT In fact that was too much of an ask. Someone named Chad then argued and nicked with me over email just for asking them to hold their end of the deal. And called my requests for help "threats". Very unprofessional and disorganized. They obviously "buy" glowing reviews by offering discounts for on‑the‑spot ratings, which explains why the positive ones are short and vague--customers haven't even checked their stuff! My wife and I started this move with a quote: $1,368 for 6,000lbs, three guys, seven hours. We expected three professional movers who'd show up, introduce themselves, and start loading the furniture we'd listed. Instead, untrained guys arrived asking what to begin with--despite us clearly going room by room. They started by snatching our sealed boxes--full of fragile glassware--rather than the furniture we prioritized. Forty-five minutes in and not a single piece of furniture was touched. They took unwrapped items like lamps and baskets we said not to move. It quickly became chaotic. The lead called their boss complaining the truck was half full. They asked if I wanted a second trip--unacceptable, since our agreement was one trip covering everything. I reminded them of the quoted list: all our furniture, no bags of clothes. Then they told us the truck was full--but reserved space for my DJ stand. In reality, the truck had tons of headroom. Couch was lying on its side, bike haphazardly on top, and a dolly thrown on top before they just drove off--cursing and arguing in front of neighbors! At the new place, five hours later, I asked them to put everything in the garage--not rooms. Two hours later, they left. What remained was a pile of black bags, clothes on hangers, and furniture shoved in the garage. When I inspected things: Boxes upside-down, totes collapsed Shoe rack emptied--the shoes dumped on the floor A chest of keepsakes tossed sideways Fragile boxes buried under heavy items Damage all over my old garage: family albums strewn, shredded trash bag, wood blocks tossed around Even patio furniture, dog houses, and end tables I explicitly told them not to take ended up taken--or just dumped. Meanwhile, heavy items I did pay to have moved were left behind in my garage. That was literally the whole point of hiring them. I contacted the owner, who responded...and I quote,"We are happy to assist you but unfortunately not for free. We are an hourly based service and our estimate was based on the inventory you provided. Clearly the inventory was way off when we arrived and all of that was discussed with you by phone. You chose to not have us take additional items and to keep it to one truck load. You said you would handle the rest. The threats for free service etc don't work with me. We would have handled it day of but you didn't want to pay to have the stuff moved that you didn't tell us about.Let me know if you have any questions." I was quoted for sevral items that were still in my garage, i said there was 40 or 50 large totes or boxes, thats exactly what there was only my bed frame, the surrey bike, dog houses, chairs, were part of my quotew but not the trip. instead i found every black bag of clothes, and evry hanging piwece of clother which is a lot, and something not inclusded in the quote and that i could take over in my car. All in all they moved less then what was quoted, took longer then was quoted, cost more the was quoted, and still have a lot of things at old apreatment so much i need to rent a truck to move it all. The owner writes me back:"Definitely a 2 truck job possibly 3. You can't go pay for 1 tire at discount tire and expect 4 tires can you? This is no different. You want 3 times the amount of stuff moved for the same price it's just not going to happen. " No but generally when you speciifically lists items that you get a quote for that is what is the work that is done. What about the trashed garage, the boxes upside down, the things on their side the caved in totes..."Your Husband isn't helping your qualms. We charge hourly. We billed appropriately. Thomas called raising concerns in regards to truck volume, stated that you and your husband must dictate to the crew what is to go. You both acknowledged and agreed. You both stated 1 trip/truck was the choice, when we offered a return trip You signed pad waivers, mattress waivers, pre-taped furniture directly on the finish etc. We have pictures as well from the crew in regards to the garage content disarray. One truck load and the time billed associated per our signed contract and verbal conversations was your choice, not ours. Michael's continual rambling, verbiage and threats, it is obvious even if the opportunity to finish the job arose, we would absolutely decline servicing. At this point, further communication isn't necessary as I do not perceive any type of resolution would not only satisfy you or your husband, and I refuse to also force our crews into a hostile situation." We told them, told the owner on the phone, lead same time, then went to each guy said the only thing i want on the truck is furniture, no bags, no boxes just the furniture. I wish I could give it a negative rating. I read all the great reviews from Google and asked them for an estimate. They asked me what I was moving over the phone room by room and then sent me an estimate, claiming that they may not be the cheapest because they are extra careful when packing the furniture. I was ok with it. Then on the move day, one person was being trained on how to do the job. Then someone left. I did not worry about it since my expectation is that the price is set anyway. But in the end, they charged me more than 50% more than the estimate. I called the owner and got a price in the middle. I was not happy about it. Then it went worse, they charged me on my credit card without my authorization for the balance, adding a few hundred more than the cost when they finished. Now I am paying thousands more than the estimate. I don't know if the estimator is incapable of figuring out the right amount of time or the moving crew is bad at the job, but either way, I am not supposed to pay for their mistakes. I am disputing the cost on my credit card and may go to court if this does not settle the way I like. ------------------------- Of course, when they estimate 3100 and charge you 4800, it is all your fault and bad character. I have documentation what was quoted and what are in my house. Tell me what I added. By the way, did I mention multiple items were damaged during the moving and of course it was because my stuff was at fault, again. It's taken me over 6 months to write this review. I initially chose this company because of the reviews. I see now that many are not genuine. I truly regret the entire ordeal. The movers were not professional, breaking several of my items within 15 mins of starting the job. They didn't know how to properly assess how many boxes would be needed or how much time it would take. They gave so many different times and kept moving it back, had to bring more boxes, and clearly did not want to be there. The manager who had made certain promises in writing went back on those only after half our stuff was loaded putting us in a position of having to accept other charges. The dwelling was left damaged. My furniture and items were damaged and broken. I cry opening boxes because most are not labeled and are not loaded properly, random things they're in boxes, fragile items put with heavy items etc. We also had specifically set aside suitcases and other bags that were to be loaded last as they were our items for every day use. Twice they put these in the middle of the uhaul and the 2nd time couldn't recover all items as they had been buried. The moving company who unloaded our items was shocked and appalled at the state of the items and how the uhaul was loaded. They sent a complaint via their manager. Never ever would I use this company again in a million years. I trusted them with my possessions and they treated them like garbage. read more

I was a little nervous because some reviews are not wonderful and when you work hard for your things, putting trust in others is difficult. I will say, I was happy to be proved wrong. Did everything go perfectly? No, but moving is a very stressful and fickle time, especially when selling and buying homes. Jonathan was wonderful on the sales end. Chad was great working with me when I realized a few things were miscommunicated. We didn't have a single complaint about any of the movers. They were professional, kind and enjoyable to be around. So I needed a little time to digest my move. First I thought I went pretty heavy into the amount of things and sizes I had to move for the quote. As it turns out that wasn't the case. Garment boxes did not arrive that I ordered, it took tow trips vs one based on truck size and the bill was about $300 higher than expected. Several things have been found to be broken or damaged. They did catch breaking an older jewelry cabinet and took that off the bill. However, since unpacking Ive found damage on two book cases and items secured in boxes that clearly were labeled fragile. I had hung pictures prior to the move to make things easier. When assembling my bed, they didn't mention to me that the picture was too low and built the bed back up against it. I had to pull a heavy framed king away from wall to free the picture. As the move went eat later than expected and everyone was pretty tired, the last of May things in the garage were just stacked high and some of the bottom containers could not take the weight. read more

Well heck this is a bit overdue. Chad and his company moved me from Az to Mo in may of last year. They showed up on time and I was not ready. My anxiety was through the roof and I was about one second from tears. Chad is so calming and talked to me and calmed me down. He loaded my stuff from my home, garage, and two storages in record time being careful with my things. He hauled my whole life across country and unloaded it into each room of my new home. He even moved my safe! I usually have to have a separate company that only does safes but NYH had no problem doing it. I would recommend these guys to anyone needing to move. I have to say this company made our move a breeze. they called about 45 mins before arrival to let us know they were on the way with their eta. they had all the equipment and supplies to handle our move. they moved our large sectional couch, 2 large screen 70+ inch tv's and the mounting stands, and adjustable frame beds. they were versed in disassembling our furniture and everything made it to our new house without any issues. David and Thomas were our movers and they were efficient and extremely professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this business for any loving needs.
