I'm giving this 4/5 mostly because it is one of the... well... one decent coffee place in the sprawling metropolis that is Skillman, NJ. The coffee is pretty good, they have some decent breakfast sandwiches, and last time I was there I had a pretty killer macaroon. Very friendly people working behind the counter. So next time you're at Shoprite, skip the Dunkin' and grab a coffee from the local guy, Thomas Sweet's. read more

Very VERY filling!! Don't over-order ;) Unique flavors and mix ins. A favorite of the kids! read more

Zucchini bread with walnuts - OUTSTANDING!! Gotta get there early or they sell out. Ice Cream Sundaes are also VERY VERY Good!! Nice people, excellent service!! read more

Whenever I come to Thomas Sweets, I always leave content. Coffee is always great, sandwiches are made on home made whole grain paninis that have the perfect balance of soft and crisp, soups are delicious, and the bakery products are insanely tempting. I have to say, with the bakery products, as pretty as it looks, that's how great it tastes. They do not disappoint. And then there is the ice cream. Nutella is by far their best flavor. The blend-ins are fantastic. As far as ambiance, it has everything you could want for a nice place to hang out. It has Wi-Fi, comfy couch to sit on, etc. Definitely worth frequenting. read more

I was in a couple days ago and got some ice cream from this lovely lady (I believe her name was emma). She was very kind and patient with me and my two kids! I have had a great experience there and will continue to go back, I have told everyone about how nice and cooperative you guys are with kids. Thank you Thomas Sweet!!! read more

Good ice cream, especially the blend ins. Try the cafe affugato - ice cream in a cup of espresso. Coffee is good. I haven't had good experience with their cakes - frosting had so much food coloring it ruined the taste. read more

I absolutely love their ice cream. I've been going here since I was a kid and no place matches their quality. I really like the setting of the place and it's a great place to get some work done or just hangout with friends. read more

I was in last week and ordered a single twist soft-serve ice cream cone. There was a price list taped to the window by the cast register. Single was 4.25 and double was 5.25, I believe. The girl rang up the cone and said it would be 5 dollars and some odd cents. I said to her "I ordered a single." She repeated the price she told me and said that's what the cost is. I told her I was reading the sign in front of me. She then told me that there is a difference in price between the scooped ice cream and the soft-serve. I told her I understood, but was looking at the price list. She then told me that the price list was just printed recently and continued to argue with/doubt me. I removed the price list and showed it to her and I walked out. I wish I had asked to be refunded. I know $1.00 isn't a big deal, but it's the point. She argued with me and she was wrong. A business should post the correct prices. I will never go back. Her attitude was so bad. read more

Reviewed by a 3rd grader If you are looking for a great place to get ice cream, there is a great place called Thomas Sweet. If you've never been there you should try it! One reason Thomas Sweet is great is because they have a delicious treat called a Blend-In. You get to choose your own flavor and they will mix in any topping you choose. Another reason Thomas Sweet is great is because they are safe for people with allergies. If you have a food allergy you just need to tell them and they will clean off the scooper and open a brand new container of ice cream. You should try Thomas Sweet the next time you want ice cream! read more

Well... went in here for some good cupcakes thinking they would make them on premises or at least have fresh baked goods not the case at all. We ordered for cupcakes for 3.99$ each and everyone was inedible dry and days old for sure. When I went up to pay and mentioned it to the cashier she informed me that they come in baked and then they freeze them. They thaw them and then ice them there. Worst cupcake I have ever had would never go back and I still had to pay for all of them.. read more

great atmosphere, great cakes, great staff, BEST ICE CREAM EVER and a secret spot for amazing coffee and baked goods

Much like the Thomas Sweet I've enjoyed in New Brunswick, this establishment has some fantastic ice cream and a variety of options. This particular location also has different coffee brews and a really comfortable indoor seating area with a great atmosphere. It's like a classier version of Starbucks. If you catch a movie at the Montgomery Cinemas next door, drop in for some ice cream afterwards! read more

Best place in Skillman to get coffee or ice cream ! Always getting new flavors in and the blend ins of the week are super creative. Had one for Pride Month and I Love that! read more

Great ambience ! Live music . Good and comfortable seating ! Remember this closes at 10 on Saturday and not 11 as mentioned in yelp! read more

A nice little place for ice cream or coffee. This shop has way fewer people than the one in downtown Princeton.

Great place to grab an ice-cream - they specialize in blends - think Dairy Queen Blizzard, but better - and hang out w local musicians before stepping out next door fro a movie at Montgomery Cinemas. Great atmosphere, & efficient, friendly service. read more

So disgusting. Place was filthy and horribly disorganized. I so seldom get an ice cream and half way through I found a giant hair. Awful.

I knew Thomas Sweet was in Princeton, but didn't realize there was a cafe in this small strip mall. was ordering Chinese food in the plaza, and saw the familiar logo so decided to drop on by. The cafe looks like an awesome place to do work, and the barista informed me that they do have free wi-fi (+1 star). The baristas are extremely friendly and advised me that their house coffee (medium size is $1.90) was always a good choice. while the coffee was nothing special in my opinion, so i'll have to give their mochas and/or ice cream a try next time around. Elizabeth B noted their stamp card deal, which also applies to their coffee, so buy 9 cups and your 10th is free. read more

Ok, I literally come to this place 3-6 times a week. All of the pastries are PHENOMENAL. Joanne is literally the best chef. I have tried every cupcake: Oreo, mint chocolate chip, red velvet, vanilla, chocolate chocolate, salted caramel, funfetti, strawberry, pumpkin, and peanut butter. I recommend them all! If you like cream cheese frosting, go with the red velvet. I've tried the chocolate croissant. When you rip it open, you will find a brittle chocolate center that is absolutely delectable. The almond croissant is AMAZING. The almond paste that is in the center of the pastry is gooey and the outside crust is light and flaky; it's a perfect combo. The apple cake has a fresh, soft apple center, and you can actually see the apples in it. The pumpkin muffin has a crumby powder-sugar dusted top that is hardened just the right amount, so when you finish that, you can eat the soft muffin underneath. The brownie is DELICIOUS. It was the absolute best brownie I've ever tried. The outside is flaky and the inside is rich. I ordered a latte last night with skim milk and sugar-free caramel, and it was fabulous. Everyone who works here is exceptionally cordial and quick. They have an array of super interesting artwork on the wall, and a couch where you can lounge in. All I can say is that I LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

Love their coffee, and their barristas are as friendly and helpful as they come. Obviously being Thomas Sweet, the ice cream is awesome, love the Chai personally. I absolutely love going there, and try to hit it at least once a week when possible. read more

Loved the selection of ice cream & gelato. I had the Apple turkey panini there which is pretty good. The indoor seating is big big so it is good to come with a group of friends to catch up read more

Why have there not been more reviews of this place? Wonderful, delicious coffee with friendly barristas. A great place to pick up a latte in the morning or in the evening. Haven't triend their ice cream yet though. Next on the list! read more

A great place for treats for both the kids and grown ups. The almond croissant is my latest crave. This place is definitely a local family favorite. The cafe now carries Hale & Hearty soups, which are also very good. When I am in the mood for great fudge, I have been caught taking the extra drive into downtown Princeton to Thomas Sweet Chocolates. read more

Service is fast now! They have great staff and it looks like they have found a system that works!

A good place to come for ice cream or coffee -- just don't go on a Saturday night. They always have a combo playing who occupy 1/3 of the space and are so loud that you can't possibly carry on a conversation. I don't understand why they do this. There is no need to attract people on a Saturday night because they get all the post-movie crowd from next door. All it does is turn people like me and my friends off because there are never enough seats and, having just come from the movies, we want to discuss the film we just saw. It would be more to their advantage to have the band on an off night like Thursday. I don't know why these combos think they have to blast the place out. read more

I come here for coffee and to hang out on their couches for a while. The location is great as they have tons of parking and the inside is spacious with a lot of seating. Their ice cream is pretty good, a little on the pricier side. Haven't tried any of their food yet, but the menu and lunch specials look pretty good. read more

To me, this is the ideal cafe. It is big and inviting, with lots of tables and space to spread out. They serve enticing-looking baked goods, coffee drinks and sandwiches, along with the famous ice cream and blend-ins. There is music on Saturday evenings and a general nice vibe. Definitely a nice place to meet a friend or just relax. read more

I usually like their blend in ice creams. Their coffees are also good. A place not to miss.

Definitely the best ice cream I've had in a long time. I had Nutella covered with Nutella topping and homemade whipped cream. I went there once on a Saturday night where they had a jazz band play, and then for lunch on a week day. Got to say that it's a completely different experience. The first time the line was very long, but it didn't bother me much since the music was playing. The second, it was like a different place; the environment was very chilled out. I'm a big fan of hale & hearty soups so that's a pleasant surprise; the sandwich bread was amazing as well. And the staff was extremely nice and accommodating... I had this tall British gentleman help me and he really took the time to explain the menu. Would recommend this place to all kinds of people and can't wait to go back for more myself! read more

Ice cream is great. Regular food bland Wifi terrible and unusable about 80% of the times I visit. read more

Last night was the first time I'd been in awhile. The store was so dirty. If the public space looked that bad can't imagine what the kitchen looks like! Won't be going back until it appears to be cleaner. Which will be easy to determine as the front door is covered in smudge. read more

I enjoy this place they have Great ice cream, good quality of ingredients, friendly staff, good crowd of customers. I will come back when i would like some ice cream again.... read more

They sell sandwiches, soups, ice cream, frozen yogurt, coffee, pastries, and combinations of the above. The interior is spacious and there are even couches. They are one of the only places I have seen outside of New Mexico that serves Posole. The employees are particularly nice, and even let me receive a phone call on their phone. This establishment (as well as the other locations) are a gem in the Princeton area. read more

I've loved Thomas Sweets for decades! I only had some ice cream but it was yummy--though not as good as what I remember from the old North Branch place. Only frustration was they didn't have some of the flavors that they had written on the board. read more

Thomas Sweets not so sweet. The Skillman location was a disaster tonight. Air conditioning on the fritz, ice cream was melted, whipped cream machine broken. Clueless servers running around like a Chinese fire drill, contiuously muttering "im so sorry!" while dishing up puddles of warm cream and toppings looking every bit like carnival spin art. Adding to the madness were the life-taking sounds of yet another talentless Saturday night musician performing old sad chestnuts. Sweet times! With all the chaos, the place was packed beyond comprehension. I'm writing off this location. Too many management mistakes. Stores in New Brunswick and Princeton are far better run. read more

It was kind of cold outside the evening we went to Thomas Sweet Cafe recently, so I wasn't especially in the mood for ice cream (very rare for me to turn down Thomas Sweet ice cream) ... and, since it was a bit on the late side I didn't want to have coffee either. So I ultimately decided to try their hot chocolate. Wow, was that a great choice! It might be the best hot chocolate I've ever had! I highly recommended it. As an extra-added bonus tip, ask if James is around to make it for you! I watched him meticulously mix the ingredients together and prepare the beverage... and the result clearly spoke for itself. Yum! Well done James... read more

What a disaster! The most disorganized establishment of all. We had to cancel our order after a twenty minute wait only to find out they were out of our main dish! Never again... read more

Thomas Sweet has become our local since last year when we moved to the US from Europe. The staff is very courteous but I would like to single out Prachi. She represents what customer service should always be in my opinion. She is always greets me with me a smile, she remembers what I drink. One morning as I approached the till I saw that she had already my skinny latte ready. I was a bit puzzled at first until she told me that she saw me parking and started making my latte so it would be ready for me. This blew me away. She should really train other staff members because we need more people like Prachi in the service industry. Her attention to the customers is remarkable. read more

Enjoyed their zucchini pecan bread! Spacious and clean. Would like to come back and try the other menu items.

Good coffee, pastries, and great customer service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Adam helped me today and was great.
