Shuu Cafe is a small Asian style dessert cafe that offers Asian styled drinks, desserts (soft serve, waffles, cakes, and puffs). When you enter there a few areas to sit around and up at the front you can see the menu on the TV and through the glass you can see the puffs that they have available. I've only ever gotten the puffs and the cakes. They have a few different flavors (matcha, black sesame, Biscoff, oreo, etc.) and I've tried most if not all of them and they're all fairly good, not too sweet. In my opinion they taste a bit better once refrigerated for a few hours. The tres leches and strawberry matcha cakes are good as well, again, not too sweet. I'd like to try the soft serve sometime. A bit on the more expensive side so I only go there when the craving for the Asian style puffs are there. The service overall was good as the people working the front don't mind explaining the flavors of the different types of items they have for sale. read more

I got the matcha latte and lemon black tea! They were great, definitely ask for more sweetener if you like your matcha sweet because it doesn't come sweet. The black tea was super refreshing! They have a big variety of the cream puffs, and they also have bubble waffles, which I tried and really liked! The service here is great and my drink was ready and under five minutes, both of them combined! The place is very calm and a lot of people are sitting here and they were working so it's not very loud at all. It's a perfect place to come and study. read more

Heaven in a box. My son raved about this place and brought me a vanilla cream puff. What a delightful taste experience! It came home in a super cute box. I opened it and it looked great. Place was relatively empty and the guy that took my order was super friendly and answered all my questions patiently The soft serve was huge, I'd definitely recommend sharing with someone but it was really refreshing and delicious. Cute little Cafe in a strip mall along with an Asian food market, pho today restaurant, pizza place, and much more. I was excited to see that they had black sesame soft serve as that flavor is hard to find in NJ. They also have cream puffs!! Firstly, the cream puffs are amazing! We tried the matcha flavor and the strawberry flavor. The cream is light and fluffy, which reminded me of cool whip consistency. Also not too sweet either which I loved. The matcha flavor was light and could be a bit stronger. The strawberry one was my favorite. Strong strawberry flavor that kept you wanting more. The cream puff itself was also very light and not heavy so you weren't left with that uncomfortable feeling afterwards. Moving onto the black sesame soft serve. This was a bit too sweet for my liking. It was like eating a spoonful of sugar with every bite! It might go well with the bubble waffle though, but by itself was definitely too much. Had a delicious matcha cream puff here which was really refreshing and fresh. The shell was crispy while the cream was not heavy but very refreshing and tasty. My son wouldn't let me get a taste of his ice cream but his youthful lingo was that it tasted spectacularly OP. The prices are not bad too. My son had a large chocolate soft serve ice cream. When I am in the area this is my go to for something sweet but not too sweet. I love the strawberry puff is so light. I usually bring some back home and they get eaten in less than 1 hour. Cute little dessert spot! We hit this up after lunch at Pho Today, which was a perfect ending to our meal. We ended up hanging out for another hour or so here, which they seem to welcome. Everyone working there was friendly and sweet. We had the black sesame soft serve - my first time trying the flavor. I'm not quite sure I'd get it again but I did enjoy tasting it. They have some other Asian-style flavors that I'd love to try another time, like taro and matcha, in a bubble waffle. I ordered the lemon cream puff and it was so good! The filling was perfectly lemony and the puff had a nice crunch. It was a good size and there's a lot of filling inside too. It's a great stop for a snack or a post meal dessert, especially if you want something mostly light, and not super sweet. Good new Asian dessert spot in the heart of Plainsboro. I already know this will be a popular hang out spot in the area for young people. My friends and I went late (8:15pm) and they were sold out of a lot of things, but that's to be expected at that time of day. We ordered the matcha soft serve on the bubble waffle and a strawberry shortcake. They said it would take 8 minutes and then forgot about the soft serve, but we're very nice when we asked them about it and got to making it right away-it was late and the spot is new so I feel like some hiccups are to be forgiven, especially considering how busy it was too at that hour! The shortcake was very good, aesthetically pleasing, and exactly what I wanted out of a strawberry shortcake. When the waffle did arrive, it was very yummy-the waffle was bouncy and eggy and the ice cream was good too. Definitely will be back if I'm craving a dessert or just to catch up with friends! I finally got a chance to visit Shuu and I was not disappointed! The inside is very neat and aesthetic, and the bathrooms are very clean as well. Bubble waffles. Somehow, I had never heard of such a thing just a few short months ago. Now, they're seemingly everywhere, but maybe that's just because now I know to look for them. Bubble waffles are absolutely delicious, and Shuu Cafe has excellent versions of them. On my visit, I was slightly overwhelmed by the numerous choices, so I asked the very friendly employees behind the counter what they'd suggest for someone who isn't a huge fan of chocolate. Their consensus choice was the Strawberry Delight: a bubble waffle "cone" filled with vanilla soft serve, whipped cream, crushed graham crackers, strawberries and condensed milk. It was a good suggestion. Trying to eat it without a spoon and napkin is definitely a fool's errand, as it is as messy as it is delicious. After finishing it, the staff asked me how I enjoyed it and seemed to be genuinely interested in my opinion. I enjoyed my dessert here, not only was the food delicious, the space itself was bright, welcoming and exceptionally clean, and the employees showed a great deal of pride in their work. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is that the prices are a bit high for what you get.
