It really worked in our favor that the two biggest ice cream shop competitors to Halo Pub had been closed, because when we had a hankering for creamy ice cream, Halo Pub did not disappoint at all! Besides the vibes and ambiance being very relaxing and cool (part ice cream shop, part coffee shop), there were no shortage of flavors and toppings to choose from! I was also super lucky that the staff member who scooped my cone gave me a hearty amount! Certainly do recommend Halo Pub if you're in the area! read more

From the outside this does not look like a icecream shop so it's easy to be missed. This is your typical go to spot for classic icecream flavors. I would recommend. read more

Unfortunately my son got food poisoning from a milk shake. He was the only person in the family that ordered a shake instead of ice cream so I'm assuming the milk used in the shake had gone bad. Service at this location is mediocre and does appear very clean. read more

We decided to come in on Labor Day since our normal go to spot, bent spoon, was closed for the holiday. I'm actually very glad we got to try Halo Pub. I had it many years ago and this really reminded me how this old school looking ice cream shop has so much character. We got strawberry amaretto, which was very unique as one scoop and our bottom scoop was cookies and cream. Very solid. I'm also very glad that there is a location in Hamilton as well. Will definitely check that out. read more

Very busy and ice cream is overpriced. The one flavor I like the lemon flavor was removed and there's nothing else really there that's worth the money in my opinion. read more

Visited the Halo Pub for the first time the evening of Memorial Day. I came here on the recommendation of someone, and also because we were nearby for dinner in Palmer Square. This shop has a lot of character and charm - the details and exterior are from a by-gone time, but in the best way. The shop's decor is a lot of rich wood details that are rich in history. It is located in Palmer Square, and there is a private parking garage right next door, in addition to limited street parking. As stated, we visited here on a Monday night, but there were quite a few people out due to it being Princeton's graduation weekend. There was a little bit of a line that stretched onto the sidewalk, but it was nothing crazy or out of the ordinary for an ice cream shop. Once inside, the time was nearing 9:45 PM. The store closed at 11 PM that night. An employee took time to come out from behind the counter and walk through the line to inform everyone that they would not be making milkshakes past 10 PM. If you were in line at this time, you were fine to still order one, but I suppose if you came at 10 or after, you would not have been able to order one. Personally, and as someone who has worked in ice cream, I think this is a bad look for the business when you do things like this. I am assuming this was done in order to save time at the end of the night, but realistically, how much time does this save? I think it would actually take more time considering you take an employee away from the counter to make the announcement, and have to deal with disgruntled customers for the entire last hour of the shift. This is a main reason for my missing stars in this review. If you are open until 11 PM, you should have all of your offerings until then. If not, close at 10 PM. When it was our time to order, I was able to sample a few flavors before making my choices. They had some unique flavors that I had never seen before. I personally got a two scoop dish with the Amaretto Chocolate Almond and the M&M flavors. Both were interesting, and flavor combinations I had never had from an ice cream parlor before. The staff was friendly, especially the girl who waited on us. I thought the pricing was fair, and not too crazy for what you receive. The ice cream itself was tasty, and I enjoyed the flavors I got. However, for this being a hard ice cream store, the flavors were both softer than I would have liked. I asked my recommender if this is how the ice cream always is here, and they said it is usually on the softer side. That is a bummer, considering it is hard ice cream. Overall, this experience for me was fine. The product is good, and the location is nice. However, for the reasons outlined above, I am not sure if I would recommend this place. If you are in the area, for sure make a stop. But, since they pick and choose what menu items they want to serve, you might get there and they are choosing not to make the item you were looking to get. read more

There is no better ice cream! Fresh fruits make seasonal flavors like Peach Caramel really pop.

Blatant Negligence - A Health Hazard, Not an Ice Cream Shop I've never been more disappointed in a local establishment. Halo Pub could've been a real community gem, but instead, it became a textbook case of how to completely ignore public health responsibilities. The shop was recently shut down by the city health department, and frankly, it was long overdue. From visibly dirty conditions to a roach infestation and staff who clearly lacked basic food safety training, it was obvious management had no interest in maintaining even minimum standards. What's worse is the constant excuses from ownership--refusing to take accountability and ignoring warning signs that any responsible business would have addressed immediately. Serving food to the public is a privilege, not a right. This wasn't just poor management--it was willful neglect that put customers' health at risk. It's sad to see a place with potential be destroyed by such blatant disregard for safety, cleanliness, and community trust. You can't fix problems you refuse to acknowledge--and Halo Pub is a perfect example of that. read more

Definitely a great place to pop in to warm up on a cold night or cool off on a hot summer day! I came in and got a double scoop of chocolate and cherries and chocolate health bar and another with vanilla heath bar and vanilla praline pecan. Both were delicious. Only qualm is it is quite expensive so definitely not your daily ice cream shop, but perfect if out getting dinner in the town! Staff are mostly teenagers, so service can be varied, but the establishment itself is fantastic! read more

My all time favorite is their chocolate heath bar!! Definitely worth a try. Plenty of space to sit and chat as well.

Halo Pub elevates basic flavors with its wonderfully creamy texture! Any time I'm craving chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, this place is my go to. A Parisian Hot Chocolate is also divine as temperatures go down. The staff is always warm even when the outside is not, and during a busy summers they are very efficient with moving along a line wrapped around the corner. Halo Pub is an ice cream parlor on the corner! It has a vintage, dim vibe to it. Their flavors weren't too out of this world or unique, but they got the classics. There was surprisingly a line out the door on a chilly spring Sunday afternoon. They had a pretty good selection of flavors but I did notice that some of them had run out by the time we came. I got a scoop of coffee ice cream and my boyfriend got a scoop of chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. The scoops were decent sizes, but for the price I think that they were smaller than I would have liked. However, the ice cream met my expectations and was nicely creamy. Personally I think that The Bent Spoon is better but Halo Pub is still a solid Princeton ice cream spot! read more

Sold out of egg nog and hot chocolate. This location is poorly stocked. I have contacted management before about being out of strawberry chip ice cream most of the summer. Hot fudge was out because they had to clean the warming dispenser. Customers wait on long lines for the hot drinks advertised on signs, which were rated best in the area, only to find out they are sold out again. The Hamilton location is sometimes better stocked. The products are excellent if you happen to go when they are well stocked. read more

Came here on a first date, ice cream was good. My date left me a week later whomp whomp.

Everyone is always raving about the Bent Spoon and how good their ice cream is, but Halo Pub is even better! They have some of the best ice cream I have ever had! First off, they never have a line and when they do, the incredible staff works everything out for a perfect line. They take classic ice cream flavors and elevate it to a whole new level! And the shop is a community gem! The ice cream shop has such a good ambiance and vibe in the place and its like your classic vintage vibe shop. I don't know what to score this besides 5 stars! read more

TLDR: great quality ice cream at good prices with friendly staff. I would come here again for anything (probably the raspberry cream sorbet). I got a single scoop in a sugar cone: Tahiti vanilla bean and chocolate peanut paradise. Halo Pub is one of my favorite ice cream spots. The quality of their cream is amazing, which makes for even better ice cream. Their classic flavors are great (my go tos are raspberry cream sorbet and Tahiti vanilla bean). This visit was solid as well: the vanilla was delicious as usual, and the chocolate peanut paradise was dotted with tasty chunks of topping anchored by a rich chocolate ice cream. It's a challenge for me not to get something here each time I'm downtown. Tip: you can get two flavors for a single scoop serving. read more

Pretty Average Ice Cream Store Honestly pretty hard to review because we couldn't get the flavors that we were hoping to get. We wanted the coffee soft serve as well as the grapefruit sorbet. Both were sold out when we went on Memorial Day. We ended up getting the mango sorbet and the Tahiti vanilla bean ice cream. They were both pretty decent. * The mango sorbet was really ripe and it tasted pretty fresh, however the Tahiti vanilla ice cream was nothing special. * We had to wait in a line to get in. We probably waited for around 15 minutes. * The vibe on the inside of the store was pretty old timey but they were doing a pretty good job following COVID guidelines. All in all, I would say that this place is a pretty average ice cream store. I would like to come back here another day to try the flavors that we originally wanted to try and perhaps my rating would go up depending on how those end up tasting. Average, 3/5 Stars read more

Visited Halo Pub for some ice cream on a Sunday afternoon. Only 3 customers are allowed in the store at a time for now, and masks are required. The ice cream is homemade and delicious. I picked up a banana split, which got me 3 scoops of ice cream, 2 toppings, whipped cream, and theoretically a cherry. I say theoretically because many things were out, including cherry. I settled for pineapple and Oreo crumbles. Flavors i got were nutella, amaretto, and coffee. It was super good, definitely a nice treat on a hot summer day. read more

We were furiously directed to stop by Halo Pub while in the Princeton area. It was absolutely worth the slight detour. The "pub" is very old school with nice wood counters and some historic vibes. It's really rustic and doesn't ask for much in return giving you a wave of relaxation. Come as you are. There are a lot of ice cream flavors to choose from. I guarantee you'll find something you like or something new and exciting to try. They also have all the fixins to add on. There's also a variety of other options like shakes and floats and coffees. I chose the egg nog ice cream because 'tis the season! It was really delicious. The ice cream is very creamy and rich in flavor. It's also a bargain. They have really great low prices! Every time I come to Princeton, I have to drop by either here or Bent Spoon because of the wonderful ice cream and flavors Food: Huge variety of different ice creams. The ice cream here is more creamy based as opposed to Bent Spoon's gelato-style. I usually always go for Mint Chocolate Chip, and am never disappointed. Service/Environment: Nice shop with ample seating and some seats outside as well. The service was quick and friendly. Price: The prices are very fair for the portion they give you. The cheapest was one scoop for around $3-4. Overall: I love coming here after a nice meal and will continue to frequent this ice cream place in the future! read more

One of the best ice cream shops in Princeton along with the legendary "The Bent Spoon" down the block from here. Rustic look with all wooden fixtures and worn down tables completes the PUB atmosphere. Ice cream flavours and selection are great especially coffee ones. Very nice and helpful wait staff. Lines can be long because of popularity and the weather, so be ready to wait a little. You even get half scoop here! Coffee Heath bar crunch is phenomenal and hands down my favourite flavour from this place. read more

So great to see this place was open until 10 PM on a Monday night when so much else in Princeton closes by 9. We walked in late and were met with friendly service- they were happy to provide suggestions and explain what some of the less common items were like the shakes and hot chocolate floats. There's additional seating in the back (not a lot) but enough for us that night and the place has a vintage look about it that I like. It was also nice that you could try two flavors for the price of one scoop (2 half scoops) so I got to try a variety when I didn't want too much ice cream. I got the chocolate with strawberries and the strawberry with chocolate and both ice creams were so creamy and delicious. read more

There's a reason why this is such a local hotspot, and how it stands the test of time! Came here on the fourth of July after dinner. There are so many flavors to choose from! And the pricing is so cheap! For ~$2.50 you can get a single scoop of ice cream, which was more than enough for me! Definitely much cheaper than the options you can get in the city. Cookie dough was very doughy, had big chunks of chocolate chip, and the vanilla bean base was very tasty! There are also seating areas next to the ice cream freezers, and they also sell an assortment of ice cream cakes. Definitely would check them out next time I am here! read more

Halo Pub's are a local favorite ice cream parlor. Having been to the other Halo Pub and Halo Farm in the area, the Princeton location is consistent in many aspects to the others. The rustic farm theme; the vibe, the furniture, and even the employees are common to both Halo Pubs and the Halo Farm. This Halo Pub does differentiate from the others in that there are some cafe options like expresso/coffee that are not present in the other shop nor do the Halo shops have ice cream cake, pops, and tartufo options. This location is very convienent after spending a day in Princeton and definitely so after sampling some of the fine dining options in the area. The service is indifferent at times, as is the case at all Halo establishments, but it is passable and efficient. read more

I love ice creams from Halo Pub for three reasons, the flavors, the quality and simple ingredients they contain and the price. Like most other ice cream shops they all sell one pint tubs, however they are much cheaper than their competitors. My personal favorites are chocolate with roasted almonds, chocolate with cherries and cashew caramel. Long lines outside the store in summer is a common sighting if you are strolling around in the Princeton downtown which speaks about their product. Highly recommended if you are in the area. read more

Halo beats Bent Spoon as far as my comparison goes... but they're not as good as Gil & Bert's in nearby Cranbury. $2 for a small scoop is a good value, and that was appreciated on my ice cream bender afternoon. I really love that they take pains to make the most natural product possible. That said, for me, the sweetener part needs to be tweaked. With so many natural sweetening options, it would make sense to experiment with what blends well flavor wise, and allows your ice cream to taste like good ole ice cream as opposed to honey + X flavor. I was doing a side-by-side comparison of chocolate peanut butter with nearby Bent Spoon, and Gil & Bert's in Cranbury. While Bent Spoon didn't even have the dang flavor, Gil & Bert did, and theirs allowed the headliners to shine, whereas my Halo version had a honey aftertang, that just didn't go down well. The mission is great, and obviously reviews show this works for many, but sweetener needs to be altered, IMHO, for the real flavors to do their thing. read more

Halo Pub is a Princeton icon as well as the only place I've ever been with strawberry chocolate chip ice cream. The ice cream quality is excellent. Halo Pub also makes both the milk and the ice cream and I think that really makes a difference. When I was there on Friday, I wasn't greeted at all which surprised me. They used to provide a laminated list with all the flavors which made ordering easier but it's gone. I asked for a two scoop hot fudge sundae but the server didn't hear the sundae part apparently and handed me two scoops. When I pointed out that I had requested a sundae she seemed nervous like she didn't know what to do. I ended up getting the two scoops with hot fudge on them but not the other sundae accoutrements (whipped cream, cherry etc.). Seating can be hard to find on a Friday night. Many of the seats are stools which may not be accessible for everyone. It also seems like it would be difficult to navigate here with a wheelchair since there's not a lot of space to move around. read more

Upon arriving at Halo Pub (or Halo Fête as some of their signs state) brought back nostalgia of Halo Dairy Farm. They are apparently under the same company. There was a short line when our group got there but it moved fast. Upon entering there were two huge cases of ice cream and a separate area for barista drinks. The signs had a cute play on words for a bar for instance a small serving of ice cream was referred to as a "small draft." My rating is 3.5 but bumping up to 4: -good selection of ice cream -fast service -some of the ice cream was just ok according to members of our group -the prices are reasonable for the area Good to know: -due to the wide selection, be ready for what you want to order when it's your turn -each case has different flavors -sorbet is available if you are dairy free -WiFi available -parking may be hard at times, if so there is a reasonable garage across the street -if the line is long, come back in a bit, it flows pretty fast read more

Halo Pub is a delightful ice cream parlor in the heart of Princeton (in Palmer Square) ... and my favorite ice cream stop in Princeton.  There typically are over two dozen flavors to tempt you. Its interior is reminiscent of a Victorian Era ice cream parlor.  Halo Pub serves Halo Farms ice cream, which is one of my all-time favorite ice creams.  I had a cone the other day of EGG NOG (5/5), which was awesome.
