Water down Americano with a side of attitude
Carmiña C.

We came on a Sunday Afternoon and I ordered an Americano and the water to espresso proportion was completely off. It was basically coffee tea. When we politely mentioned it, the girl told us with an attitude that, "that's what an Americano is, expresó and water" and did nothing about it. The scone was doughy... very dissatisfied with the service, drink and food.

Cookies and cream blended with peanut m&ms.

Thomas Sweet, to put it lightly, is the greatest ice cream place on this planet, and we are blessed to live in NJ and be within 15 minutes of two locations. I don't want to tell you how to order, but if you order anything other than cookies and cream ice cream blended with peanut M&Ms, you are not achieving your own potential in life.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

The service here is amazing. The person at the counter gave the best recommendations and let us try so many flavours (and even encouraged it!!! We love an ice cream place that isn't stingy) I'd 100% recommend the chocolate chip cookie ice cream. As the worker there put it--it's like the dough parts of cookie dough ice cream, but the flavor is entirety of the ice cream itself. Definitely hard to find a flavor like this elsewhere. I wouldn't really recommend Jersey Shore (vanilla with caramel) though, it was definitely too sweet and I couldn't get through that scoop.

Chocolate chip cookie on bottom, birthday cake in the middle, and Nutella on top

I love how large the space is and how much seating there is. A+ for space and ambiance. Much nicer vibe than a normal ice cream place, and it was so refreshing not to have to fight for a table (cough cough like at the nearby Bent Spoon where you feel like a burden to everyone for just being there). Also, ice cream places are often freezing inside but I was quite comfortable, so my friend and I were able to stay and chat for about an hour before we realized how much time had passed. The ice cream flavors I got were chocolate chip cookie (which is the best ice cream flavor ever to be invented anywhere), birthday cake (which was phenomenal), and Nutella (which was great, except that the lady gave me about one bites worth so I really didn't get to experience this flavor at all...) The ice cream quality is awesome, the flavors unique (though not as many fun flavors as other Thomas Sweet locations), and the setting is chill. My one complaint was that the server gave me such a minuscule amount of the Nutella flavor that it truly was only one bite's worth. Also, they don't have waffle cones, just cake and sugar. Overall, good experience. Definitely better than the Bent Spoon in Princeton (whose serving sizes are all child sized despite the high prices, and where you will never sit because they have one single table), but I think I might still prefer Thomas Sweets in New Brunswick.

I just paid $35 for 4 large??? Sundaes. The container is large but the actual contents is SMALL at best. What a total Rip off! I'd really like the owner to contact me. My Response to the owners response. I did in fact "engage" with him. He quickly decided that the customer is always ...wrong. That's bad business to me. Exact Same order at Uncle Ed's in Pennington a month ago was $28 for much more ice cream.

Mediocre/disinterested service, open/closed sign not in sync with actual store opening. Y'all need to clean your bathrooms too

Coffee is awful, place needs an update, treats are even worse. Seems like they just stopped caring.

Blawenburg Bistro - Vanilla frosted French cruller

Blawenburg Bistro

Had such a wonderful experience at Blawenburg Bistro!…read more I ordered the pesto egg on sourdough with homemade pesto, a perfectly cracked egg, fresh greens, and balsamic sauce -- and honestly, I was blown away. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavors came together beautifully. It's one of those dishes you instantly know you'll come back for again and again. The greens on the side were fresh and complemented it really well. My wife had the mushroom + Gruyère omelette with shallots and garlic, served with sweet potatoes -- and she absolutely loved it. She's already a fan of anything with mushrooms, but this one, with the Gruyère, took it to another level. It really hit the spot. And the coffee -- freshly brewed and full of flavor -- was the perfect finish. What truly stood out was the serving staff -- warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. They made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. Warm, cozy vibe, great food, and definitely a place we'll be returning to!

I went to Blawenburg Bistro for the first time on a weekday for lunch. The parking lot was packed,…read morethankfully we decided to carpool and there was a spot we could pull into. There's not a ton of seating inside- it's first come first serve. You pretty much just order at the counter and they will bring it to you if you have a seat or they'll hand it to you at the front. A waitress there was nice enough to separate a big table so we could have a table for two. We got the chicken pesto sandwich and the turkey club and I got the Blawenburg latte with mocha and coconut foam. I've never had a latte with coconut foam so I wasn't sure how it would taste but it was really good! It's not a super strong coconut flavor. The chicken pesto sandwich was really good but kept falling apart since it's on a croissant. I think it would've been better on sourdough. My favorite part was the truffle kettle chips- they were SO good and addicting. Would definitely come back here to try some other items especially the bakery stuff.

Pastiamo Pasta Bar & Cafe - Special (goat cheese, mint, figs, pistachio, honey)

Normally we stay away from pasta restaurants unless there's something unique to it. However, Pastiamo hit a home run immediately. From Chef Francesca being ever present in the restaurant - from serving to seating - to the homemade focaccia you receive as a starter, it was an impeccable dining experience. Then you add the nice plates and simple, yet warm decor. You just can't go wrong. We split the forza Italia as an appetizer to get more of a focaccia kick. We loved the homemade bread. The three cheeses were a nice and complimentary touch. Also, dousing this with some freshly squeezed orange juice didn't hurt. For the main course, we split a pesto gnocchi and a tagliatelle alla Norma. The pasta was truly homemade. Felt super fresh. The sauces were great and not too oily or salty. It was so good that we decided to bring some home to my parents. We will be back again!

TLDR: delicious foods with quality ingredients…read more Pastiamo is a cute little sit down restaurant with bright decor and a modern, casual feel. I tried the burrata dip and lasagna, which were both beyond my expectations. The burrata dip was milky and rich with sweet / umami bursts of tomato. Paired with thin focaccia and savory crisps, the appetizer made for amazing bites that I still think about. The lasagna was rich and flavorful. Layers of rich meat sauce, cheese, and bechemal were savory, nutty, hearty - a satisfying bite on the colder days. The casual appearance had me fooled me a bit on the price, especially the burrata dip. I definitely had some sticker shop. The dip was $18 and the lasagna was around $24. Both these prices are reasonable for the area but were more expensive than I would pay for a casual lunch. It's also a bit too casual for me to consider for a nicer dinner, so Pastiamo falls in a gray zone for me on the pricing. I loved the food here and would come back more often if there were lunch deals or cheaper options I loved the food and would come back more ofte
