Had the brisket sandwich and we also had a pulled pork. Onion rings and fried pickles. Potato salad with both sandwiches. All of the food was great, potato salad was killer good, as was the brisket and the BBQ sauce. Nice place and tasty food! read more

Prices are a little high, but given the location it's understandable. My gf and I tried the pulled pork sandwiches -- nothing too remarkable, neither good nor bad. Their standard BBQ sauce was likewise bland and inoffensive. The "hot" BBQ sauce is a little hotter, but still pretty meh. I would have liked the pork to be drier and more finely shredded. Decent beer selection for the locale. read more

Very poor quality food with low standards. Beef brisket was not fresh and tasted like beef with nitrates. Macaroni and cheese is literally a.50 cents box of Kraft. Yes. Kraft Mac n cheese!!! In a restaurant. How embarrassing. I was completely shocked. I don't know about you, but when I go out to eat at a restaurant I expect that they might actually cook up something creative or original. Not open a box, mix some water, microwave, throw it on a plate and hand you a plastic fork and spoon. That is the summary of this place. I wouldn't be surprised if the "baked beans" were simply a can of bush's best beans. None of us, including my 2 year old, could finish eating our meal the food was so bad - despite the amount of money we spent. I would have had more fun taking $50 and setting it on fire. Actually after leaving this restaurant I had to stop at the gas station to get a bag of peanuts and chip's, both of which were better food than this restaurant. Update from the Owner: You have a lot of nerve writing the review you did on Yelp. I have been in the resturant business for over 40 years and have won over 300 awards on our BBQ BECAUSE we use only quality meats. And there is always one or two family members in our busineess to make sure our quality is kept high. You oviously do not know much about smoked meats, so you should not do reviews on them acting like you do. You said our beef was not fresh also tasting like it had nitrates in it. For your information Friday (5/22) was our first day open for this season. The beef you had just came out of the smoker FRESH, we had opened at 11 an you came in at 2. Three hours you can not get anymore fresh than that. As far as nitrates; nitrates are used to in competition cooking to enhance the flavor for the simple purpose off winning, not in our resturant. Yes we use Kraft Mac and cheese and NEVER had an issue with that. We used to have both Kraft and homemade Mac and cheese and the kids have always chose the Kraft. The Mac and cheeses are specifically for children as stated on the menu. I had came to your table and talked to you stating at least five times that I would gladly replaced our food as well as your child's, and you had refused. The other table that you had made a negative comment to about our food summed it up very well. " A person buys a product or service and is not happy with the outcome they should tell the business. If the business offers to correct the problem (as we did) and the customer refuses to except, then problem is no longer the business, it is with the person. You had also stated tha the four of you could not finish your meals, because it was so bad. Why would you make an commet like that when clearly your wife and her father had finished, and you had ate at least half. You also stated that your two year old did not finish, a lot of two year olds do not even eat a third of their food. Yelp can be a good tool for people who are looking for services they need. It is people like you that screw it up by not giving correct or false information on a business, to make them look bad. Roger l. Wagner (owner). My response: Just because you do no like the content of my review does not mean I should not write one. I felt your restaurant deserved special attention because; honestly, it is quite especially bad. As far as the quality of your food. The quality of the food in your restaurant can only be as good as the worst dish you may serve. In this case. Kraft Mac and Cheese. I have been eating out in restaurants for over 30 years, and I have NEVER seen a restaurant be so lazy as to just serve noodles out a box. Your host explained to me that this is because Children "do not like regular mac and cheese" I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS for one second. Take any child and put a hot bowl of noodles dripping in quality cheese and another bowl of KRAFT with watered down sauce with food coloring. I know exactly which one the children will eat. The truth is more simple: Children do not complain about their food and are easy targets to rip off, and you are too cheap to serve real mac and cheese. The fact that your Host offered to replace my food and I turned down a new dish goes to show that I had very little faith that the next dish would be any better; therefore, why should I bother? If you serve Mac and cheese from a box in the back, why should I expect that you might have a higher standard of food service to show me? You just showed me your best effort! I even asked my fellow diners what they thought of their meals, so as to make sure I was not being unjust or harsh. They agreed the food was not good. We all ordered a different dish. Brisket, Mac n Cheese, pulled pork, and sausage links. So we had a variety to see. One bad dish is understandable, but four bad dishes and this is no longer an anomaly - it is the norm. read more

This place was awesome. We got the lite ribs dinner, and the ribs fell off the bone. We had the Cole slaw and bbq beans and both were amazing. Definitely recommend!!!! read more

A must stop if you're in town. We stopped by on the way in and it was closed, so double check before you go. The second time through we stopped and picked up the best BBQ ribs and pulled pork we had ever had. We took it to go and it was delicious! read more

Stopped for lunch after train ride from Durango to Silverton. Fantastic BBQ. Wife is from Tennessee and complains about lack of good BBQ in Colorado, but raved about Thee Pitt. read more

Oh my word, from the minute we opened the door and the most delicious smells enveloped us, we knew we found the right place for lunch. Easily accommodated a large party and their decoration was really cute. They had a pile of kids books for the kids to look at as part of the decor. Food was amazing, the dinner plates were big enough to share-great ribs and literally the best baked BBQ beans we've ever had. And we tried the fried pickles-tasty!!! Various bottled drinks to choose from. A great place to stop by while you're visiting Silverton. read more

I went to Thee Pitts again because I had seen them on the food network channel. The place smelled wonderfull, and a very charming decor to sit. I went there with my husband, and we split 2 entrees. My husband had the pulled pork sandwitch. He is from Texas so he can be a bit hard to please. When it comes to bbq. He loved his sandwitch and could not stop talking about the homemade be sauce they use. They also had some local beers from Durango that he enjoyed a lot as well. The entree I chose was the rib meal. The ribs just fell off the bone. They also had a tremendous amount of flavor to them. I had a side of cornbread with honey butter that absolutely melted in my mouth. If you EVER go to Silverton don't waste your time anywhere else and Ho to this little tucked away gem. read more

Just the sweetest little BBQ joint. Yes, there may be a wait - but it's worth it! Get the Pork Sundae. Yes, that's right. The Pork Sundae! That is BBQ heaven! read more

This place was amazing! The food, costumer service, pricing and ambience was perfect! The lady that served us was the sweetest. Would come back again! read more

Brisket was great. Three had the brisket lite menu and no complaints. One had pulled pork and loved it. Beans were fantastic. Highly recommend while in Silverton read more

3rd worst brisket I've ever eaten (Werner's at Jeffersonville, OH gets 1st place, Gallo's in Linworth, OH ranks 2nd). Dry as a bone, sliced paper thin, mediocre flavor overshadowed by texture and moisture issues. I was served meat from the flat (lean end), not the point (fatty end), and was not given a choice... typically a mix of the two is served, if they know what they're doing. Sauce was reasonably good, but nothing unique about it, just typical sweet BBQ sauce that has the textural base of corn syrup. On a brighter note, the potato salad and corn bread with honey butter were excellent. The employees were wonderful, very helpful, but I wish she hadn't recommended that brisket, major disappointment. read more

We had read some great and some less-so reviews for Thee Pitts Again so we decided to taste for ourselves. So glad we weren't led astray by some nay-sayers -- our pulled pork sandwich and smoked turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy were scrumptious. Large servings and friendly service. We will definitely go there again when we pass through! read more

Really yummy food! The onion rings are to die for! Pulled chicken was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals for lunch. We all recommend the lite eaters platter. Plenty of food. Enjoy this gem in Silverton! read more

If you find yourself in Silverton, perhaps you took my advice and rode the train from Durango, look no further than Thee Pitt's for your lunch. A generous serving of nicely smoked meats, wonderfully matched sauces, and good prices. What a pleasant surprise to find Q this good in a town as small and delightful as Silverton. If you take the train, you may want to head straight up the street and order first in order to beat the crowd. You can always shop after lunch. read more

This is a great BBQ place had the pork Sunday and it was very good wife had chicken and daughter had pulled pork sandwich. All very good. Topped it off with peach cobbler. All very good and would recommend to anyone going through Silverton read more

Don't believe the hype Just because this restaurant was featured on Tv. The food didn't amount to much. The staff said the brisket was smoked for 10hrs, it tasted like boiled saltless beef. Staff said their best seller was the pulled pork with Bbq sauce it was 2/5 star, no smoked flavor no taste and was soggy. They have the driest corn bread. Don't understand how anyone can mess up corn bread. The coleslaw was horrible it tasted of mayonnaise couldn't Eat it. The staff Was responsive but didn't seem too concerned that we were dissatisfied with the food/ how they could do better. Got refund. read more

Not fine dining, but really, really fine B BQ. We had the pulled pork and a half slab of ribs. Both were great! The slaw, fries and beans were stellar. The com on the cobb not quite so much. All together a delicious meal. read more

For some reason, I always think small mountain towns should have good barbecue. Silverton in particular needs it, as there's really not much going on there in the way of food. Thee's, with its historic digs with an eye-catching pink exterior, seemed like it should fit the bill. They have another location in Glendale, AZ, which was featured on an episode of Diners, etc. (more on that later). The interior has the appropriate rustic, mountain town feel that most Silverton restaurants have. The food, however, was very hit-and-miss. I liked the pulled pork. That was the big winner for me. It was not oversauced like a lot of places tend to do, which is especially good considering their sauce was way too vinegary for my taste. The potato salad was also pretty good, and the baked beans were tasty. The ribs, on the other hand, were some of the worst I've had. They were tough and dry, not fall-off-the-bones tender like ribs should be. It was an ordeal just trying to get the meat off my plate and into my mouth. They also seemed like they were overcooked, or possibly even reheated. It was actually a bit of a shock how bad the ribs were; I was just not expecting that. Now, for hit-and-miss food, I'd usually give a place three stars, but what killed it for me was Triple D. You see, they have a television in the restaurant which has episodes of Guy Fieri, blathering on with his usual obnoxiousness, on loop. The last thing I want to hear when I'm eating is that blowhard, whose Times Square restaurant is one of the worst I have tried (and where, incidentally, I also had some really bad, possibly reheated ribs). This is the guy who visits a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant in Phoenix, and lauds its authenticity ("If a place serves menudo, you know it's authentic!" - no, Guy, even the least authentic restaurant in the world, the one next door to Thee's in Silverton, has menudo on the menu) in one breath and mentioned in the next that they serve chimichangas. Idiot, chimichangas were invented in Arizona! A bit of a tangent, but my point is, I cannot stand Guy Fieri, and plastering his stupid name everywhere is a good way to ruin a place for me. So, really, this place is one I'd probably visit again in Silverton (for lack of better options) were it not completely ruined by the show. It's one thing to be proud of the fact that they were on the show, but it's now basically a Guy Fieri-themed amusement park ride. read more

We were the first customer for the season as we drove into town before the train arrived. I had the brisket while hubby had the ribs. We shared and enjoyed both. I do wish the had the option of a spicy BBQ but the one we had tasted great. Cornbread with honey butter was fresh and great flavor. Not cake like in some places. Hubby had the strawberry shortcake made with the cornbread. It was surprisingly outstanding. I had the bread pudding. #2 of all time that I have had. Very moist and delicious. Same great flavors of their AZ store. read more

We stopped for lunch after driving down from Ouray. The pulled park was ok but for the price it was way over priced. I know it's a tourist town but you could give a little more for less money. I would say the food was average at best. read more

Came here with jeeping buddies in late August, it was delicious! Got the two meat plate with pulled pork (a must) and beef brisket (delicious) with baked beans and cole slaw! Everyone in our group (7 adults) was very impressed and felt this was the best place in Silverton, CO. read more

As a Texan and BBQue expert, I can truly say I was disappointed in the food - but the service was great. The brisket was dry and tasted old, actually trashed about $25 worth of the $40 of the two meals we ordered. Ribs tasted old and overcooked, pork was OK but dry. The bread, beer, beans and cole slaw were excellent but will not go again and the DDD hype came from Guy's visit to Phoenix - not Silverton - lest they would not have gotten such a review - which they play continuously on their TV! read more

A nice bbq joint with good food and service. The servings were small for the price, but satisfied with a house salad and brisket.

This is a wonderful world of smoky deliciousnus....the chop sandwich is a total yummmmmmm! Also try the BBQ beans....

One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had. The potato salad was quite good -- not what Iexpected but very tasty.

I'm from Texas and eat a LOT of BBQ. Ribs here were quite tender, but not best I've had. Still, there were legit and very tasty. The chop (mixture of brisket, pulled pork, and ham) was super delicious. Great idea to combine the three meats. Also really liked the pulled pork on its own. They have two choices of sauce -- regular and hot. Regular was too sweet for my taste, but the hot was really balanced and good. read more

When in Durango make a trip to the cute old mining town of Silverton. However you get there, train, car, jeep, just be sure to get there! While in town we knew we wanted to have lunch and remembered DDD's Guy Fieri had been to a great BBQ place so we hunted it down and it was worth it. GREAT food, pulled pork is the best, tasty cole slaw, fries and fired pickles. If you are looking for good food, plan to eat here! We are glad we did. read more

Not sure what the deal is with this place. I read the reviews and dropped $60 for the 4 of us. Food was meh and the service was good. I would have stopped somewhere else for lunch. read more

The food here is incredible! Seriously though, their beer battered fries are the best fries I have ever tasted! The service was awesome! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the price. It's a little steep for the amount of food you get. Especially when the food is this good and you don't want to stop eating!! read more

I had the brisket. I've had some really good brisket in my day. Smoke ring. Moist. Flavor. Then I've had some really bad brisket. Dry. Flavorless. Hard to tell it's even brisket. Unfortunately Thee Pitt's Again is in the second category. Don't bother. read more

This place blew me away. I am from Texas and love BBQ, but I did not get my hopes up because nothing is better than Texas BBQ. Boy was I wrong! All the meat we ordered was delicious and the BBQ sauce was amazing! The honey butter with their cornbread was like cake and so yummy. Totally recommend everyone visiting Silverton to check this place out! read more

The food was delicious and the service was fast. However, when I ordered the dinner brisket plate hoping for a lot of food, the portion size was on the smaller side. Myself and a friend experienced some unsettled stomachs after eating there as well. read more

One of the better restaurants to eat BBQ in this area, including Durango, Ouray area too. The pulled pork was great, slaw pretty good, onion rings hand dipped and good and beans were acceptable. We also had the bread pudding and it was good too. If you are in Silverton, it is a must try but I think it is only open May - October. Enjoy! read more

This is the reason to visit Silverton--GREAT BBQ!!!! The chef-owner has won a gazillion awards for his Q and you'll understand why. Why the restaurant is here (rather than Durango, Denver or Telluride) is beyond me but boy were we happy they are. Stepped off the bus part of the Durango-Silverton rail experience at 11:00 AM and my family and I walked directly into the restaurant (only 2-3 blocks from drop-off). Yes, we were probably the first diners there--but the staff were warm and welcoming. The pulled pork and sliced beef sandwiches on a Kaiser roll with 1 side were heaven--moist, flavorful. I had chips which I regretted after I saw and tasted the seasoned fries. These fries look like they were cut from a churro making device. Husband had a rack of the pork ribs with 3 sides. The ribs were so succulent and yummy. BBQ beans were excellent. Cornbread was like cake (but not thick like Marie Callendars)--a great sub for dessert. It has a sister restaurant in Phoenix---now I have 2 reasons to visit Phoenix: this restaurant and excellent Navajo tacos from Arizona Frybread. read more

Good pulled pork. I liked the chop sandwich best (pork, brisket, ham chopped together). Had a mix of the sweet & hot bbq sauces. The beans were right from a can, not even doctored with smoky meat bits. Slaw was odd - more of a butter taste than a mayo or vinegar. The peach cobbler & the bread pudding were pretty good. Stick with the sandwiches & desserts - skip the sides. read more

Great little place, good service, tender brisket and pork ribs.

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Just about as good as BBQ here in Texas and that's saying a lot. I'm always skeptical when it comes to BBQ in other states because it's usually horrible. I wish I could eat at this place every day. Was completely blown away by how good it was. Will be coming back when I visit Colorado again. read more

I am from Texas and am pretty particular about my BBQ. I have to admit this is some of the best BBQ I have eaten anywhere. Prices are vacation prices for food and should be expected. You will not leave this place disappointed at the end of the meal. There is good sized portions of fabulous food. We come to Silverton regularly and always make it a point to eat here. read more

Not the best BBQ I've had, but for Silverton it most likely won't get any better. Had pulled pork sandwich (4*), the beef brisket (3*) and the ribs (4*) The sides are what dragged the score down. Beans tasted like something out of a can. And the mashed potatoes tasted like KFC But in Silverton, it would be one of my go to places read more
