Well, that was a gem. We're staying at Purgatory for the week and saw this place on the way up. We walked from our Airbnb because the reviews sold us. I NEEDED that grilled cheese and soup. One teen, one tween, two adults, and hungry bellies. We order 4 cups of soup (that "crouton" is a half sandwich and LEGIT). Do not sleep on that soup. The soup is equally delicious. I could've had the bowl (with the crouton) and been fine. Also a steal at $5 for a cup and the half sandwich and $8 for the bowl and half sandwich. We also got a kid meal (plain cheeseburger slider and kid sized fries for $8), veggie zucchini slider, filet slider, and regular fries. Somewhere around $50 for stuffed bellies. $7 beer draft and they sell local rootbeer in bottles for kids. Live band was great on this Friday. Seating is a bit sparse but possible. Upstairs was closed for a bachelorette. Would definitely return. This was a highlight. Only negative? Mosquitoes. Bring some spray if you're outside.

Are here yesterday and it was so good we came back today. Might have over did it. Ate enough for 5 people, but it's that good. Had two orders of grilled cheese and soup. The grilled cheese is Texas toast filled with cheese and pesto, then fried. Got 3 filet mignon sliders with blue cheese. And tried the shrimp tacos. We will be back tomorrow lol

Let me start by saying that we had a massive group of 27 people when we went to this restaurant. So we completely took over the outdoor tented area because it was raining. Out of our group of 27, 10 were kids, and there were so many fun activities in the tent and outside near the sandpit that were able to keep our kids happy and entertained, which was a huge plus for all of us. We ordered every single type of slider and all of the different varieties of fries. We also enjoyed the bar. I had the crabcake slider while my husband had the traditional beef slider, and the quality of food was so good. One of my friends had the zucchini slider and said it was incredible. You go up and order and then get a buzzer for your meal which you go collect when it is ready. It is super casual and so fun, I could've eaten here multiple nights.

The food truck is legit like a legit stop get away from the resort food. Parm truffle fries killer, chimicurri fries dope. Fresh made crab cake sandwich excellent, and that's seafood in Colorado lol. Drinks are cheaper than the resort

You've probably passed by this place on your way to Purgatory ski. Do yourself a favor and stop by. This is total mountain vibes. The bar is small but there's 2 levels of seating. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The real gem is the food truck inside. Here's what we had: Bbq bacon cheeseburger slider- Grass fed beef with topped with bacon, cheese and an onion ring. Very filling! Garlic fries- garlic was too heavy but the fries were fried perfectly. Tomato basil bisque- Get this now! It was amazing. The best part is the deep fried grilled cheese crouton. I don't know who thought of this but you're a genius! I highly recommend stopping by

Sliders, truffle parm fries, tomato soup with grilled cheese, and tap beer were all excellent. They had a tent set up adjacent to the food truck with a video game to keep the kids occupied while we waited for our food. Excellent find. Small interior for seating.

This place rocks. You always search for the hidden gem, and we found it. Food was excellent, ambience was right on time. The service was kind and hospitable, patrons were excited to be there, prices were good. It is discreet driving by, and with recent bad local restaurants like old school pizza, the bar was set low. Yet, this place impressed us with gourmet sliders and good drinks.

So, food, (food truck is dope), ambience and service are all top-notch. If you are a skier and [definitely a huckster], you should absolutely visit The Nugget. Don't spend any time in Purgatory Village drinking $12 beers. The food and the ambience, the 80s/90s ski furniture and a constant playlist from the 70s and '80s are worth everything.

We've driven by this bar countless times on the way to Silverton from Durango. It's just 2 miles south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The place always looked super packed. Never stopped, until today. They had a live country singer from Fort Worth, Texas playing. Bubba Bellin sang some covers and did a few of his original songs. He definitely had some energy and easily electrified the crowd. This bar has magnificent mountain views (8,804-foot elevation), a food truck, spacious outdoor seating and two-story indoor seating. My wife and I ordered a Colorado Kolsch from Steamworks and a Mexican Lager from Ska. In addition to these, they also had the following beers on tap: Elevated IPA from La Cumbre in New Mexico (by far my favorite IPA), PBR, Mountain Standard Juicy, hazed IPA from Odells, Coors Light, and Fat Tire by New Belgium brewing. The outdoor seating area contained gas firepits, Jenga, cool benches made from old skis and snowboards, and they were pet friendly. Some of the seating had shade canopies as well. Staff, customers, pets, and guest singer were all in a great mood and joyful. I don't remember how much we paid for our beers, but I know they were reasonably priced. A great atmosphere to enjoy some pints and/or eat some gourmet food from the Backcountry Gourmet food truck.

The only…read morereason I didn't give 5 stars is bc check in was a bit confusing; when I arrived there was no staff at the desk or in the lobby, and I didn't receive any info about how to check in. However, when I arrived I hunted down a phone number in an old confirmation email and got directly in contact with someone (David) who told me exactly how to find my room key and explained where everything was. The whole place is fairly spacious! There are three floors (my room was a 5-bed dorm style room on the third floor), and the main bathroom is on the third floor too. It had two very clean shower stalls with plenty of toiletries for showers, and 3 bathroom stalls. The whole vibe of the bathroom was old Victorian rustic - very cute. The 5 bed room was shockingly comfy too - there were at least 3 other people in my room (clearly all hikers as well, very friendly), and I was bottom bunk. The beds themselves were super comfy, the pillows seemed like memory foam or something similar, and each bed had a fan and wall outlets. There was enough space under the bunks and on the little desk that the room didn't feel overcrowded with luggage either. And there was a small movie theater area in the basement, kitchen behind the lobby desk that is for everyone to use, and some little tables and chairs around including on the second floor which is where I ate dinner. Ngl, I actually appreciated that there were 3 others in my room and clearly several other people also staying in the Avon because it has a "haunted" feel to it, but having so many other happy/friendly hikers and travelers around just makes it feel cozy and safe. Overall: this place is in silverton, a super cute little Colorado town near tons of awesome hikes and gorgeous million dollar freeway! It is cozy, clean, and has plenty of resources. I didn't feel crowded at all.

To her credit, our kind waitress had the kitchen quickly make me a new one, but honestly it was still borderline inedible. This time, due to the salt. Not only was the meat heavily salted, but the breading was overly salted as well. I couldn't even taste the meat or the breading (or even the potatoes) because it wasn't a giant plate of salt. I ate all the broccolini, a few bites of potatoes, and a few bites of steak. I hate that all restaurants, because of patrons and their salt-conditioned palates, serve the most sodium-laden monstrosities possible. I didn't feel good eating it, I didn't want to eat more than a few bites, and I left the restaurant full of regret for the bites I did take. On the plus side, the beer is exceptionally tasty, and my kids both enjoyed their meals. We are leaving tomorrow and so we won't be back, but I wouldn't be back otherwise as well.
