Big Doug's BBQ is the real deal. This little space puts out very good brisket, pulled pork and omg excellent turkey breast. When I asked Doug what I should I order if I could only have one thing, he said, "Turkey". I thought I heard wrong, but no; Doug was adamant about his turkey. I'm glad I took his advice as it was the best, super moist, smoked turkey that I've ever eaten. The brisket was well above average and the pulled pork, although very good came in 3rd, with the turkey the winner. I ordered the Cheesy potatoes and the baked beans as sides. Both were outstanding. The serving size was large and the price was very reasonable for the quality. Outdoor seating only or takeout as it is just a temporary building. Definitely give Doug's a try if you're in Creede, Colorado; you will not be disappointed. read more

Doug and Dusty a heckuva job. As I walk past a little container, smokehouse, I realized that it had to be a great place because the line was long. I stopped a couple people that were locals and they told me that it was incredible!.. On my way back from the visitor the line was still long, I patiently waited, I ordered a half chicken. I usually never order chicken. I'll tell you what, on my way back to town, l have to tell you how much I loved eating the chicken and I think I even ate some chicken bones, LOL. The smoke flavor was incredible while the chicken was so moist and tender. When I picked up my order, I told Doug and Dusty that I better enjoy their food. I went back to tell them that I did and there was a sign saying that they sold out. I realize they had just gotten another smoker delivered. So of course I had to help them get it assembled, LOL. They had a couple other fellows that we're helping them to get the smoker in place but I didn't get their names. They do you have picnic tables that you could sit down and eat your food but I was on a self-guided tour of the town. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE. DOUG WHAT KIND OF WOOD DO YOU USE? Thank you Jesus for finally blessing Creede with some bbq! I love visiting this little town, but options are limited. We stopped by on our way to a cabin and I was starving for some lunch. This was the place that fed my soul and as it turns out, they did it before they were officially open! They had jumped to greet us and take our order and put out "Open" sidewalk signs and other setup afterwards. On that note, phenomenal customer service. I mean every word. We were treated like royalty, received answers to every question, and checked on multiple times by 3 people. This is a food stand off Main Street with a lot of nice, shady picnic tables. I love their innovative use of a chain to keep the roll of paper towels under control! Their menu is typical bbq with plates, sandwiches and potatoes. They also have a Bahn Mi that's really popular. Chips and drinks are prepackaged. Prices are in line with bbq in general, portions are very fair and the people are great! We ordered a brisket bbq plate with potato chips (Miss Vickie's sea salt) for $12, a pulled pork sandwich for $9 and a can of soda. Service was genuine and prompt. The brisket had solid flavor! Very tasty. Though I prefer mine more tender, you could cut it with plastic utensils. :) The potato salad was a little short on the potatoes but tasted as expected for a mustard base. They provided pickles, onions and two slices of bread as well as a table with condiments. I was very satisfied with the meal and couldn't even finish half, the plate portions are seriously generous. The real star was the pulled pork sandwich! That container looked small when it was given to us but it was packed full of meat! The portion alone was worth the price, but it was soooo flavorful, juicy and delicious!! That's worth ordering again for sure! They are cash only so either come prepared or pay a ridiculous fee at the ATM. :) Also, they are closed on Mondays (typical of many bbq places). Coming from Texas we were concerned about "BBQ" in Colorado. We actually passed Big Doug's yesterday out of fear of disappointment. Today we decided we had to at least give it a try. Just WOW!! We are more than impressed. I had the 2 meat with sliced brisket and pulled pork along with potato salad and charro beans. The pulled pork was good but the brisket was phenomenal!!! (I'm a brisket snob, so high praise.) My wife had the chopped brisket sandwich and Cole slaw, she also was pleasantly surprised and agreed that Big Doug's is a MUST STOP for anyone visiting Creede. (I know this sounds like a paid commercial , but I assure you, we are just a couple Texans HAPPY to have found this place.) read more

I'll be honest - I'm not normally a huge BBQ fan... but my husband is so I went along for the ride. Best bahn mi I have EVER eaten, and I lived in Chicago's Vietnamese neighborhood for years (so I've eaten *a lot* of bahn mi :) All 6 people in the family raved about their selections (the 1/2 chicken, chopped beef sandwich, brisket plate, cheesesteak sandwich, etc). Impossible to describe the cheesesteak here. So heavy and flavorful and rich, almost like dark chocolate. Get pickles with it for some acidity if you want, but it will be good regardless. It won't be cheap ($14), but for a 10 inch sandwich that is LOADED with beef, it's a helluva deal. As a Texan, I have never in my life had better smoked Meat than here. Wow...Great BBQ! Great food, friendly and quick service and reasonable prices...what more can you ask for? The BBQ pulled pork plate was some of the best pork that I've had in a long time at a very reasonable price. The beans were spicy and delicious, coleslaw...so-so...I'm never happy with restaurant coleslaw. Brisket was melt in your mouth with that crusty pepper dry rub edge, but the big surprise was the Banh Mi sandwich.
