If it's not raining, the views are spectacular to enjoy a burger outside in the Colorado mountains! There is also ice cream on the other side of the wall that the soda fountain is on. Drove out to Freemon's yesterday to meet friends for lunch. They have a very limited menu consisting primarily of hamburgers. You can order with cheese and/or with grilled onions. You pick as much lettuce and tomato as you need. Dog friendly if you sit outside where there was ample seating. The cheeseburger I had and the waffle fries were very good. My wife also had onion rings with her burger and they were just ok. The store also offers ice cream, shakes, and malts. The only issue with the ice cream was a very limited selection of flavors. The unpardonable sin was no chocolate. How can you offer malts and not have chocolate? Also the store is cash only so no credit or debit cards. Overall it was just ok. read more

Wow! I can honestly say I would place this is my top five burgers. It may be because of the appetite I worked up prior to visiting by hiking, but I should not downplay how good this simple burger was. I waited about 45 minutes for my food, which wasn't great, but it was totally worth it. The flavor of the grilled onions was outstanding. I got waffle fries and my friend got onion rings. Burgers are fantastic. They are not "designer ", but instead cooked on a grill, and served on buns toasted on the same grill in the grease left over from the meat. This is not to imply there is a lot of grease because there isn't. The chili burgers are so juicy you must eat them using a knife and fork. We added waffle fries to our order. One order is enough for 2 or 3 people. They do have other items on the menu, so almost everyone can find something to eat. The staff was friendly and greeted us as we came in the door. They politely answered our questions about the food. Inside the store there is camping and fishing supplies and an ice cream shop in a room next door. There are plenty of tables and chairs both inside and outside on the porch. We made a special trip to eat here and I am glad we did. ONE THING TO NOTE: CASH ONLY. NO CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS. read more

Husband's family has been coming here since the 70s, every year. It's a must stop! They are a general store so if you ran out of a few items and don't want to go into town you can get some of it here. This includes general, limited grocer items and toiletries such as dish soap, milk, canned goods, etc. The real reason to come is the awesome burgers, very tasty! There's a variety of sides and the beer battered fries and Frito pies are good too! I love the ice cream parlor next door but be warned the servings are ginormous! I usually have to ask for a kid size because I love getting a cone but my husband will get a cup to go and it's pretty big. This is a very popular spot so sometimes there is a wait on food due to the line, but totally worth it. Very important: if you are hungry and get there, stop before you pass it up. This is the only spot in the area for food and depending on where you are travelling, it could be another 20 miles before you get another chance. By the way, no credit cards are accepted here so save some of your cash for this visit. read more

Have been coming to Creede for many years. Always stopped at Freemans for a cheeseburger and fries. Fantastic burgers. Went last Monday. What happened to Freemans ?? The 10 cheeseburgers we ordered were the pre made patties, 3/8 of an inch thick, kind of grey and dry as cardboard. Before they have always been hand formed patties, hanging over the buns. Great sides. Mine had two pickle slices and two slivers of onion. These burgers we just horrible. This is my last time there unless it was some kind of fluke. So disappointed. read more

Freemon's General Store is definitely the place to go for a burger if you're in or around Creede. I have been going for holiday the past two years and the vibes and the food just keep getting better. If you got a hankering for a made to order burger and chili dogs freeman is the spot to go. Creede locals love this place! It's a quaint little general store with a picnic seating out front and a flat top griddle I'm the back where they whip up a great burger in the back. It's almost gets me excited walking in the front then smelling some amazing food cooking in the back. A white aproned chef with a dozen patties sizzling on the stove top and smiling faces everywhere. They have fries, dogs, burgs, frito pie, chili cheese fries etc. If you step off to the left of the building they have a a little ice cream parlor. Be sure to get a double scoop and a malt shake to go! And don't forget to grab your worms from Freeman's before you head up fishing a the lakes. It's just on the outskirts of town but a perfect location to hit up right before you drive up to all the lakes. I was camping in Creede this past weekend. I met some friends (locals) who took us here. Freeman's has a lot of charm. ~ 70+ year old grandma slaving away at the flattop cooking all the burgers. ~ A very rustic / old west vibe to the place. In all, Freeman's is serving up some nice BIG burgers. I had a bacon, American, green chile double = a full meal after a day of hiking. read more

Great burger! This place was recommended by the lady at the Creede Chamber of Commerce and it did not disappoint. All burgers come with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and grilled onions. You can also get waffle fries, straight fries, beer battered fries, or onion rings. We sat outside (they also have indoor seating) and admired the views and the aspen leaves falling.
