Food was fine. But $36 for this setup is a bit much. The meal was $20, and I suppose the beer and cream soda was the other $16. I was OK paying the posted price for the food - although I think a little more meat would've been better - but there's no way the drinks should've cost that much. Prices aren't posted for those, so it was a surprise. This is a tourist stop, and I'm assuming they're not counting on anybody coming back so they charge as much as they do. Goal achieved; I won't be back.

This is a very popular restaurant. It can get very crowded, but the service goes fast. The owner has won many awards for his bbq. You can see his awards around his restaurant. The bbq is very delicious. It is a casual restaurant with good food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great spot in Silverton--it's been featured on the Food Network so it's quite popular, be prepared to wait in line. Pulled pork was juicy and delicious and the fries were great!

I had the pull pork sandwich with onion rings . You order at counter and deliver to table great sever needed knife to cut in half side I picked was coleslaw and also got Dr Pepper. The place had aprons hanging of the competitions they enter and plaque that they won with ceramic pigs everywhere . The pull pork was very good and so was the onion rings with ranch dressing

This comes from a Texas boy. This was good BBQ. Damn good BBQ. After a 3 hour ride on the train from Durango to Silverton, the wife announced she had a surprise from me. She had apparently seen an episode of DDD where Guy visited this humble establishment. I wish I had been there when he was there. We only had about 20 minutes due to the train being late. We dashed in, ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and sausage platter. Sides? Coleslaw and mashed taters. As I said, really good BBQ. The coleslaw was a little dry. The mashers were a hit with the wife considering I got NONE. OK. just a little taste. All in all, DO THE TRAIN RIDE...then eat here. You will not be disappointed. Rock solid 4 stars.

The food tasted good but our bill was $51 for a very small portion ( 3 meat platter), baked potato and two soft drinks. The 3 meat platter is pictured. Everything else was fine...literally quarter cup portions.

Don't believe the bad reviews... We just had a great experience here during a busy...busy lunch time rush. Ribs were moist, bbq sauce was great...just right. I had the Pork Sundae...unusual, but great. I ended up dumping it on my plate and attacking it! Service was awesome!! Guy at counter was positive and calm, even though it was a packed house. It was standing room only, with the line out the door. Well done, especially during a difficult time.

After a full day of activity, we were starving! Stopped by this local eatery for dinner. The gentleman at the counter greeted us with a howdy. I ordered one full dinner for hubs & I to share. He said what I ordered was enough for 1. Let me tell you, it was just right for 2! Food came out quickly (very quickly.) My only complaint was that it was lukewarm. Not overly hot. But, it was enjoyable. BBQ was good. Enough of a bite, not too sweet. Overall, yummy food stop.

Light meal, Beef Brisket, mashed potatoes/gravy and corn bread. It was just ok.

I see a constant theme in the reviews, "Good value". I can agree with that. It is a good value. Good BBQ? Umm....It's ok. I ordered the light meal which included beef brisket, side of mashed potatoes/gravy and piece of corn bread. Brisket already came covered in BBQ sauce. I got the light meal because I just are breakfast an hour earlier, but decided to try this place that's DDD (Guy Fietti) approved. Overall experience.....eh.

It's good to make friends on a road trip. Someone insisted that I should go to Silverton and eat at Thee Pits Again. I love BBQ. What can I say. So while I was road-tripping in Ouray, I headed to Silverton and looked for a pink structure in town. Yup, just like the dude told me. You can't miss the place. It was late in the afternoon. They sold out of the brisket. I settled for the ribs. I can't believe how much food they gave me for a little bite. And the food disappeared quickly. The ribs were falling off the bone. It's juicy and tender. Their BBQ sauce was a hit. It was so worth the trip.

I'm from Texas but I understand that other places have brisket too. I have to add my personal preferences, but the brisket and the meal was great and a a great value, more especially for the area. I've worked on my brisket smoking skills for many years. I would be happy with any cook that came out like the brisket here. The meat was standalone good and I mean it needed no sauce to be good without. The hot sauce I later tried was perfect, as it hit with some heat, then quickly retreated for a smoother finish. There was no smoke ring and I like a little hickory flavor in my brisket. The rub was indiscernible to the point I am not sure they used a rub. I only use salt and pepper like I picked up from Aaron Franklin, so I don't use anything heavy. The rub need not be the primary flavor in brisket. I don't care for sweet cornbread, but this only had a little hint of sweet and that went away. It was awesome! I like cole slaw a little creamier, but this was on point! I'd eat it any day with any BBQ. The potato salad didn't blow my hair back, but it wasn't bad. The fella that delivered our order was neither friendly nor unfriendly, but professional. The food arrived shortly after we were seated. The only negative review I saw was a gimme. "I should have known not to order vegetarian food at a bbq joint..." Right! Next time exercise better judgment. I read the first line about ordering vegetarian bbq and I knew that was a poor decision. I don't go into my garden looking for a steak, but then I listen to that little voice that keeps me from making similar mistakes. I guess my only criticism is they have vegetarian food items on the menu. Then again, that is more a business decision issue than a food item issue. Finally, with this covid-19 scare, there is limited seating. I saw a party of 2 in front of us taking up a table for 8. There were smaller tables open and there were a few couples at large tables as well. Good manners aren't common, but you should try to practice them anyway. Your egocentric behavior is abhorrent.

Came in a Thursday lunch at 1130. 6 of us walked right up to the counter to order. Place is fun to look at for kids. Hundreds of pigs and pics of pigs. Food was just mediocre. If they served it hot I Might have considered 4 stars.

They were in and out delivering food and cleaning up after everyone quickly. Drinks came quickly and were nice pours. For food, we ordered the steak fries, very good. Crispy outside, tender inside. Nachos were also very tasty. Real cheese not the sauce type fake cheese. Good toppings. The pork sandwich was a little dry and needed seasoning and sauce. The burger was a little dry as well, not cooked to order and the bun was dry and fell apart. But it came with all the toppings. Inside the restaurant were several families. Packed! Kids running around everywhere. It was way too chaotic for us personally so we sat outside. The patio was busy every afternoon with people and pups alike. I was sad to see so many people leave their dogs outside on the patio unattended, barking and whining looking for their person while they are inside drinking and dining. This happened every day so it seams normal. Telluride is a very dog friendly town. Overall good for after ski atmosphere. This review reflects our experience with them as a caterer. The food itself was decent--definitely not Texas-level barbecue, but for Montrose, it's what you'd expect. We ordered 90 plates with the intention of having leftovers (74 mouths fed), but there were none. When our coordinator reached out, Tyler (the owner) explained that he always brings extra food so guests can have seconds. That didn't quite add up--why would a caterer bring extra food beyond what was paid for? It left us wondering whether the portions were simply miscalculated. Another issue was the food temperature. The small burners used during setup weren't effective at all. We were among the first to eat, and our food was already cold. I can only imagine how it was for guests at the later tables. One of the biggest disappointments was the trailer. We had a lot of family traveling in from Texas and were thrilled about the idea of Tyler's trailer, which has a big Texas graphic on the side. We mentioned this during our initial meeting and were quoted for 80 plates. Later, when we increased to 90 and asked about the trailer again, Tyler told us he doesn't bring it for larger catering events. That was a real letdown--not just aesthetically, but practically. We suspect the food would've stayed much warmer had the trailer been used instead of the burner setup. Overall, while the barbecue was okay, the experience didn't meet expectations--especially given the excitement and planning that went into it.

Overall we loved our sandwiches even though they were a little on the pricey side...two sandwiches (15.25/each) which included a small bag of Lays Potato chips. Plus a 20% tip...of course that was at our discretion. Bottom line, was it expensive? Yeah, but the food was great and I will never stop supporting our local food trucks and businesses!
