This place feels exactly like going to your/my tio or tia's house when they're having a party. You can bring your own beer, unless you want to pay for soda or horchata. It's definitely super family business ambience. To my understanding they do have a dude come play music or a band or something, but while I was there they had one of those classic Swap meet party speakers with the flashing lights y todo jamming out to cumbias sonideras. It no joke reminded me of my tio and tia's house parties for sure! Need a place to have a party? This place is it! Especially if you show up on early and take over the tables. I saw a dude show up with a 12-pack and claim the table and him and his homey's planned to just chill for a while. Puro Pinche Parry! The menu is a little confusing. I've seen pictures on here and Google that have pretty legit chalk work and others with markers. We got the yellow poster board with black marker. One side says "menu" and the other "meats". Some who showed up who were not familiar with the menu, all had the same questions, but others who have been here before knew exactly what to order. To me, it was pretty standard and straight to the point. So no problem there, but for a place that has been there for ... I'm guessing 3 years (based on posts) or so as a legit business on Friday's and Saturday's only, I think they could have something more established, right? My homey answered: "I know right." As for the food, according to my taste: The pollo (chicken): very bland and needs more seasoning. The Gobernador taco: it was just okay. It has enough seasoning, just not to my liking. too much garlic. The adobada tacos: same as the chicken - a little bland. it has flavor, but it's a different flavor than other adobado tacos from other Mexican joints. (Maybe it's their adobada from whatever region in Mexico they are from...). Gobernador Burrito: I think this is supposed to be their specialty... i don't want to say it was bad because it wasn't, but it wasn't great either. It's a mixture of Carne Asada, Shrimp, special sauce (chipotle and sour cream???...) I think, cabbage and onions with a lot of garlic. It's okay sized, but the flavor was odd. Carne Asada: these are good. I would get more of these. By far the best on this menu. (For me). We didn't try the alambre or the vampiro ones because we were going with the base meats to get the baseline flavors and I think that's good enough for me get the info I needed, then again maybe I should've got them.... Maybe next time. Price point: for the price I think it's worth it. We got a lot of food and it was only $25. Oh yeah, the tacos are prepared plain - so just meat and tortillas (2). It's up to you put the onion, cilantro, salsa, and lime - just like at my tio's house. The tortillas are probably the big bag from Northgate Market - based on flavor and texture. Overall: The staff is really nice and you can tell they're all family which is awesome to see. Parking is horrible because this part of town has really narrow streets and it's all residential. Actually, this place is a house. It's the front yard of the house. Props on the yard, it's very well maintained. So again... just like my tio's house. I get that it's a local spot and yeah this place is kind of cool and makes you feel at home ( a Mexican home), but man, I'd hate to be their neighbors. Which funny enough, as I walked here one of the neighbors looked at me and gave me the OJO! Ay Guey! Cool little spot in the hood though. read more

I did not believe this place existed. I thought it was a joke. However, we went, fully expecting to walk into some kid's birthday party. But it was wonderful. I loved the Alambre with chicken, chorizo, and steak. My wife had the governator, with shrimp and steak. They are open Fri and Sat, but they have more options on Friday. Seriously loved it. Left after waiting for 30 min for a burrito! How long does it take to make a burrito? They said they had "two big order before me"..... then tell me that when I first order not after im all kinds of mad and turned into a popsicle! Órale! Let me speak on this. Best Mexican food this side of the border. The cabeza, lengua, and sesos always bomb. They got a torta called the Fiber Optic, ask for it by name, you won't be able to eat the whole thing. My buddy had the XPON burrito. He said it reminded him of something his abuelita made, and I swear I saw a tear in his eye. The atmosphere is really chill too. Everything here tastes great. You can't go wrong with the gobernador (shrimp and carne asada with their homemade sauce and cabbage, AMAZING), that can be made into tacos, burritos or quesadillas and all of them taste delicious. I haven't seen any other taco place make this, it's unique for sure. Their alambre is also really good, it's melted/grilled cheese with meat of your choosing in the inside, and a side of tortillas. I think I've tried pretty much everything on their menu and it's all very tasty, you can tell they put a lot of effort into their food and making sure it's top quality. Tried this place tonight and they were really good. The gobernador tacos were bomb. I also tried the asada tacos and quesadilla(yeah I like to eat). Prices are really reasonable. If I remember right I think it's $1 taco and $1.25 for shrimp. Drinks are also sold and are very refreshing. There was also live DJ playing some good music, even my 1 1/2 year old approves of this spot. Parking can be a bit hard to find because of the narrow street but overall a great place to eat on Friday nights. Will be here next Friday for sure. read more

It is actually difficult to convince me to order "asada" (because why would you when you can get something less boring).... but this place has the best asada Ive had in ages. All I order is asada. Also, if you like hot but delicious, please try their habanero salsa. I cant get enough of it!!!
