Just came from there . Food is to go only . Service is terrible the girl taking the cash is rude . I ask for 2 pound of mix carnitas . They gave me carnitas like a day or 2 days old .

Do you fancy yourself a lover of Mexican food? More specifically of pork? Are you of the sort that is a "foodie" (note, I am still trying to find a concrete definition to what that means) and is on the avant garde of food? You say you are experimental? OK, well come right in! This place is a true hole in the wall, blink and you will miss it. But, once you walk in, you are treated to pork heaven, and some beef products for you that are high maintenance. They have your typical fare: tortas, burritos (the american sort), and tacos. But, the goods are in what is offered. Back to my original question: are you on the avant garde of pork? Are you of the Anthony Bourdain sort and claim to love pork in its every essence? Care to prove it? Have you eaten trompa (snout), higado (liver), oreja (ear), buche (stomach), cuerito (skin), chicharron (pork rind), tripa (intestines)? S'matter, feeling queasy? Doesn't sound appetizing anymore? Wait, I thought you were a foodie? WTF, man?! I feel robbed, lied to even. So for those of you that are still standing and possibly having a rumbling of the stomach, you should definitely come here and indulge in your pork desires. I have had the following: carnitas, surtido, buche, chicharron, oreja, higado, and a couple of others. Price is definitely doable, $1.00 for a taco, $5.50 for a pound of pork of your choice, and about $8.50 per pound of asada and a couple of other products. The place is very open, you can see the "caso" where the pork is cooked, the grill for the other products, and the chopping blocks. Friends, you cannot go wrong here. If you feel brave, try the higado or oreja. I love this place and look forward to coming here on a regular basis, that and start taking Lipitor in the not so distant future.

Porklicious!! I could not believe I could get that much good quality carnitas by the pound. Why I'm I just finding out about this place? I was driving to a friends house and I saw the pork skins hanging in the window. I did an illegal U and parked. Once I entered the place I was met with a friendly staff and a up close visual of pork. Tip: they only take cash.

Disappointed today with there carnitas. I love these place been there a couple of times but today they really didn't do there best. I had more nerve than meat in my burritos. Honestly I was craving the burrito but now I am disgusted!

They're known for their handmade flour tortillas that have an amazing bite to them. They were just awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand award this week for their excellent, affordable food. One thing that I appreciate about their tacos is that their meats have varied textures. The costilla (rib meat) is a crowd pleaser as you get the taste of the grill/charcoal. They have tripe that is crispy with corn nut texture. Cabeza (face meat) has a stewed texture. Unlike most places in LB, there is two hours free parking conveniently located across the street at the Harvey Milk Community Lot. This is easily one of the best options for tacos in Long Beach and, if you haven't had it yet, then you really should! This is the type of place that we need to support!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Some places, they would just give you a tiny cup but this place is a complete opposite. For a party of 5, ordered our main entrees. Wet burritos, chilli rellenos, and assorted main dishes. Overall the quality of the food was superb. 90 percent of the food served was exceptional. The 10% is a different story. The chilli rellenos was not Mexican authentic. Who puts blue cheese inside a chilli rellenos. There is a hit and miss on their menu, this is definitely a miss on their restaurants. It tasted awful! Almost threw up. Two negatives that stood out. Chilli Rellenos and customer service. Our waitress will disappear for 10 to 15 minutes and we would have to constantly flag her down. I did not get her name, but she was young. She could of been alittle bit better to attentiveness. Overall I would come back. Depending what you order.. it is a hit and miss. Plenty of parking. Good location and nice ambiance. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH.
