Was totally expecting standard bar fare, and was pleasantly surprised. We split a Reuben Sammy and Wedge salad that were reallllllly yummy. We had actually planned to just catch a round for happy hour at this place but when we looked at the menu (and saw our neighbors' orders around us) we decided to eat here. Best decision ever! Mad props to the bartender (can't remember her name, but curly auburn hair). It was my friend's birthday and she mixed us some delish chocolate cake shots! And when we said we wanted to sing karaoke (I know) she personally called around to some local joints to see if they were holding it that night. Above and beyond service, really was the icing on the cake for this place! read more

Stopped into the pub while visiting orcas island last week, beautiful view, food was great, I had the fish and chips and chowder! ( yum and yum!!) The Bartender was very sweet, I met a couple locals , learned the story behind the beautiful hand made walnut ? Bar ! The front entrance was under construction , other then that , the place was hopin'! I Can't wait to come back this summer ! read more

Good Irish pub. And good Guinness flavored food. Hubby got the stew, me the chicken sandwich. Oh so good. And the poutine was so good to. Took home leftovers. Prices were normal for what we have seen at a the pub chain we have back in Portland. Service was ok, but it was a slow night, and there was only one on, who was focusing on the bar. read more

During our Christmas vacation, we ended up in Eastsound for lunch and decided to try the White Horse Pub based on recommendations from a few locals we met along the way. This was such a quaint little place with a wonderful view of the water. The staff was very attentive from the moment we walked in. We both had burgers and beers which were great, exactly what we were hoping for. By the time we left, the place was packed and seemed to be family friendly for those with children. Thank you to the staff for such a great experience. We will definitely be back! read more

I was thoroughly unimpressed with White Horse during my visit. The service was not the best (not the worst. the waitress wasn't outright rude or incompetent. just not good) the food was pretty bad (my dijon chicken and potatoes consisted of a tiny piece of fairly decent tasting chicken and three massive, flavorless potatoes) and the atmosphere was uninviting. It HAS got a great view. I can't eat that so it really doesn't do much for me but it's worth pointing out. After about 9 when everything else on this little island closes, this is the only place to eat. Next time, I'll hop a ferry to another island or just starve. read more

The view is spectacular. The floor heaters are heavenly. The food is neither. We ordered Irish spring rolls and the lamb sliders, and all we could taste was salt. The spring rolls were burned in spots. Overpriced, and not recommended. read more

Clam chowder was very thin, lacked flavor, and the highlighted ingredient of clams were almost missing. Our waitress took our order, brought the food out, and then brought the check. She didn't check in on us or provide refills. Some of the other food looks good though! read more

First time being here 7/09/2021 and had an awesome time. Food was great!! the view was amazing and what made it all come together was our waitress Maddie. Thank you read more

We only ordered three items: Irish skins, cod fish & chips and the chocolate cake. Everything was very good. The only short coming was the tarter sauce which had a lot of dill flavoring and no pickle. The skins came with sour cream (or ranchl and were very cheesy. The cod was beer battered and crispy while the fish was moist and flakey. read more

Pricey but what a great view, and friendly service Pros? -Nummy soup -Nice bar options -Great view Cons? -Pricey -Average bar fare read more

I was skeptical after seeing yelp reviews, but my hubby wanted to watch the Hawks game, so we chose this place. We both were seated promptly and our waitress visited our table quite a few times to refill drinks. She was very friendly and helpful. Yes, the tables are all scratched up, but I really don't go to a bar to be concerned with that anyway. The view is AMAZING! Burgers were very thick and fresh. Best restaurant we went to on our trip to Orcas Island. read more

Really good burger and service. Great view! I thought the prices were reasonable for the great location. It's pub food, so it's going to be pretty simple. But it was exactly what we were looking for, so that amounts to a great review. read more

The White Horse Pub - Great View! - Irish Near Me - Eastsound, Washington

Had a small salad that was very good, fresh and big. Chicken pot pie was yummy, as well as the Shepherd pie.

We got oysters on a half shell (neither of us had had oysters before, so that's on us), their shepherd's pie, and the bangers and mash. Oysters were served on a bed of salt with lemon slices and some tasty ketchup horseradish sauce. They were a little challenging to eat, but we didn't get sick, so... The bangers and mash were good, but that's just Irish-pub-speak for "two sausages and some mashed potatoes" - hard to mess that one up unless you've got some bad sausage. The shepherd's pie was passable, but not great. My wife felt it was very genuine (She points out that it contains lamb), but that just came across as bland to me. read more

We enjoyed our dinner here. Pub/tavern atmosphere but very open and comes with a wonderful view of the bay. Nice variety on menu ( seemed like trying to model an Irish pub menu a bit). We enjoyed our meal of fish and chips and a veggie burger, with a couple of Irish ciders. Delightful server and fairly quick getting our meal out. Perfect for a casual Lunch/dinner. read more

We stopped here on our way out to the ferry. View is great, service was fast and people were nice! Potato skins were delicious. Definitely recommend stopping in while you are on Orcas! read more

Took my family here in a very busy weekend. I think it had open tables because the food was definitely mediocre. However the view is nice. The atmosphere dark. I gave it three stars mostly for the location. read more

Great location but the food is just not that good. Hope they make some progress on foods.

Dirty!! They were out of half the menu, crab dip was cold, lemonade watered down and chowder was tasteless. Totally disappointed!

Worst music ever in a bar. Not sure if it was licked by a patron or what but annoying and bass is too loud. Hard to enjoy your food with horrible loud music. Bangers and mash were good. Guinness stew had chewy meat good flavor but poor presentation read more

Very mediocre food, But nice view. Clam chowder was thin and bland. Irish egg rolls interesting, salad ok. Fruit flies a little concerning. read more

The bartender Justin was attentive and knowledgeable. He was an absolute pleasure. My date and I enjoyed the Irish spring rolls. Classic spring rolls but with corned beef. What a clever twist! Delicious. Also enjoyed the burger and chicken sandwich. Although it was busy the food came out right on time. Hot and delightful. Also don't let me forget the view!!! Breathtaking. A waterfront view of majestic Eastsound. A real gem. Highly recommended read more

Went in the other night to grab a bite to eat, I walked in and i didnt see a server or bar tender as i stood there at the waiting area for 10 minutes. So i proceeded to check back in a few minutes so i played some pacman on thier arcade machine. I went back up to the bar and saw the bartender was finally there i waited for a few minutes i didnt want to bother if she was busy but it seemed she was on the computer. I called out to her politely and asked if i could order a burger when she gets a chance. She turned around and put her hand out in the most rude snarky way ive ever been talked to in a restaurant. and proceeded to say "ummm you can wait " as she rolled her eyes then she just turned right back around to the computer completely blowing me off. I left the building immediately and order food elsewhere it was the rudest thing ive experienced from a bartender/server. Ive been here before many times before the food is good but management needs to pay closer attention to the attitude of some employees It was pretty embarrassing seeing as how no one else seemed to get that treatment read more

I couldn't wait to get out of this place and it had nothing to do with the food. We went in one evening hoping for some warm food and a nice view. The host/waiter was busy talking to some friends of his for most of the night. I ordered the chicken pot pie and my husband ordered the guiness stew, only to be notified that they were out of both of those. We ended up getting the burger which was very tender but so greasy I couldn't finish it and my husband got the ruben which had delicious corned beef. The biggest problem this place has is the ambiance, mismatched furniture with beat up scratched surfaces, an electronic jukebox supplies the music for the whole place (irish pub with reggae music.... all night). Worst of all, only about half the light bulbs in the place actually work. This place really wouldn't be hard to improve and it would make a huge difference. If they ever class the place up, we'd be happy to give it another try. read more

Very bad experience at this restaurant. We had a reservation and they sat ppl in front of us who didn't have one. When we eventually we're seated, they were out of half the menu. After scouring the menu for what they weren't out of, the food came out very slow. Took about 45 minutes for 2 burgers, 2 salads, and 1 appetizer. They got two of the burger orders wrong, they forgot avocado on one and cheese on the other. They did not even ask what temperature to cook the burgers they just came well done. 2 of the dishes came to the table cold as well. If you are looking for very below average bar food and a slow pace and poor service go to the White Horse Pub. read more

View is spectacular, the ambiance of the place was great but the waitress was SUPER unfriendly! Would barely talk to us, acted like it was such a pain waiting on us. We were surprised! We are really friendly and easy going, just ordered an appetizer and a drink but left because she made us feel so unwanted. Too bad :( read more

This place is aweful. Period. We called in an order for take out. Just so you know it'l cost you $10.00 for 2 chicken strips, also they charge you $1 per item for take out. My burger patty is BURNT. Also they will charge for for extra bacon and defiantly not put it on there. After being extremely rude to my boyfriend, and everything else we will never go back here. Which is sad I was looking forward to a delicious bacon cheese burger and fries. read more

Food is blah, especially for the price. Good place for a beer and waterfront view and the classic Reuben sandwich. Burger and chicken pot pie are blah (see photos of "chicken pot pie"). Staff was nice and view was beautiful. Didn't try the chocolate cake but it looked amazing if you're looking for a beer and sweet tooth fix. read more

Other reviewers seem to be tough on the White Horse Pub, but it was exactly what we were looking for during a super rainy day on Orcas Island. We ordered a clam chowder and fish and chips and both were really delicious. The fish was in a really light batter, and it tasted fresh. The best part was that it wasn't oversalted, so you could really taste the seafood. With a sprinkle of lemon, it was perfectly light and paired with delicious fries. The view of East Sound is unbeatable, too. read more

This is place is a great little pub. It has that cozy pub atmosphere, complete with Guinness on tap and dim lighting. The food was great, typical pub fair mixed with seafood. I had a wonderful cup of clam chowder and some pretty decent lobster dip. The service was fine, no complaints. If you're looking for somewhere casual to grab a bite and a pint, this is it! read more

Good service. Really busy on a Saturday night in January, which surprised me. Despite the crowd we got a drink right away. Strange entranceway. Not very inviting. Karaoke started at 9 but we left before that. Fun easy going place! read more

Reading the other reviews, (see, e.g., Nick P., who had the same experience we did) reveals a chronic problem. The place is severely understaffed, and not just off season. As a result, service is called poor, but these are just nice gals doing their best. Blame the owner. We had a chance to meet her, and we can assure you she deserves it. read more

This place was amazing. The food was spectacular! We had the Manhattan clam chowder and a Ruben. I can't express how fantastic the Ruben was. The roast beef was so tender!! The chowder was one of the bests I've ever had and I'm not a real fan of Manhattan clam chowder. The service was great and we got to play pool!!! read more

The food was ok. But very disappointed in the service. We had to wait a good long time like 25 minutes and then we had to go ask for the appetizer to even get there. Merrill was our server and she wasn't very good., I realize they might've been super busy, but at least apologize or hire more servers. She never came back and asked her if we needed more water and we were completely out. For some reason which she didn't explain to us or burger came out 20 minutes after the other couple got their order. They were completely done eating by the time we got ours she did however bring out a plate of fries in the meantime on the house. Once we did get our food our burger was very well done and there was no mayonnaise and no extra plate which she knew we were sharing. Wouldn't recommend or go back. read more

The good: The view, fries, and beer. The bad: Take one piece of fish that you would find at any other pub, cut it into four, batter it up to hide that fact, then under cook it. Also the smallest $10 burger I have found in the Western Hemisphere. Stick to carbohydrates in this place. read more

Full disclosure: we didn't eat at White Horse. We arrived when it was crowded and left before being seated. My review has zero to do with the food. We were second in line when the young greeter gave away a 6:30 reserved table to the walk-in party in front of us -it was 6:25. When the greeter returned, the party behind us said that was their table that had just been given away. The greeter replied that they'd have to speak with the manager -who was clearly in no hurry and finally walked over a few minutes later. No apology. No, "Can I buy you a round at the bar?" Just a shrug and a "we're very busy, so you'll have to wait 'til a table's available." Like I said, I don't know if the food's any good, but I'm sure I'll never find out. Update: The owner very nicely replied below. But, I take exception to the statement that they do not accept reservations. The greeter clearly said, "there's a 6:30 reservation for that table" and then gave it to the party in front of us. The party behind us equally-clearly said, upon walking in, "was that our table you just gave away?" The greeter acknowledged that he had and said there was nothing more he could do. The manager was in no way helpful. I understand having a no reservation policy in the height of summer when every seat will absolutely be filled. But, if you do take reservations -which you clearly did- honor them. And, if one of your staff screws up by taking a reservation when they shouldn't, own the mistake and make it right with the customer. read more

Absolutely terrible service. Server going from table to table with food asking if it was ordered there. Didn't know menu. Seems like the C team is working. Took forever to take our order, check in, and present bill. Food mediocre. Never coming back. read more

I wanted to give this place a better review because of the great view and the good food. That said the dog eating off the table next to me after being served was enough to ruin the experience. The staff brought meals for the two gentleman and a seperate burger pattie for the dog so it is pretty clear they are fine with this. Not sure about health codes but I'll never return read more
