Stayed at the inn, was quite as the restaurant was closed for off season so missed out on experiencing the food. We got the Spruce suite which was downstairs located behind the restaurant. Very nice and cozy with a great view of tue water. Everything was clean and abundant of extra supplies. Although the water pressure in the bathroom was less desirable so took forever getting ready while staying there. I'd still love to come back and experience another time in this lovely place!

Overnight visit. We checked into the Pine Queen Suite. The restaurant was closed so we couldn't enjoy that piece. Location has a great view of the water. Peaceful area. Contactless entry we got a text when our room was ready with instructions on how to get into our room. Nice postcard on the door. Room is set up for comfort. Complementary snacks, coffee, tea, chips and oatmeal. Host left a print out of places to eat in the are with wifi information etc. very helpful! Bed was comfortable. Roomy area for spreading out. Perfect little setup. We really enjoyed our stay. Hopefully next time we book when the restaurant is open.

This is a review of the restaurant. New chef as of Summer 2024. The menu is highly curated. I would have liked a few more entre options. The food is excellent. I had the lamb and potato cake as my entre and the lemon shortbread with berry jam for dessert. The service is excellent.

So cool - enjoyed our time in your place

Charming. Super staff. Fantastic shrubs and get the Burger and house cut fries. Perfect stop on our island hop

What a fantastic meal! Chef Raymond greeted us with fresh rolls with olive oil and balsamic on the side. We started with the beet and heirloom tomato burrata salad. The fried beet leaf was a big surprise and tasted amazing. My wife had the pasta with ragu and bolognese. I had the bouillabaisse. Both were amazing. I couldn't pass up the dessert, so we split the apricot and berry crumble with homemade ice cream. Amazing meal from start to finish.

We were visiting the island for our honeymoon and pleasantly surprised to discover that King Fish is now allowing indoor dining by reservation. We snagged up the only remaining time (8:15 pm), and we were excited to dress up and have a little night out. We ordered 2 entrees with the plan to get dessert. We started off with drinks - an amber ale for my husband and a glass of the orcas project Tempranillo for me. I got the last glass of it and was happy to get to try it after we had a nice experience at their tasting room earlier. For dinner, he got the pasta with smoked salmon. He thoroughly enjoyed this dish and was hyped over the generous amount of smoked salmon on it. In fact, he convinced me to give King Fish 5 stars instead of 4 because of how much he enjoyed his meal. I opted for the za'atar spiced cauliflower (just a touch undercooked). This dish came with pearl couscous (my favorite grain, theirs was buttery but otherwise needed salt), asparagus (taste and consistency seemed like it was steamed, needed salt), and some sort of purée/sauce mixture on the side (which was by far the best part on the plate). Every bite definitely needed some of that sauce on it. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed but still had a pleasant dining experience and feel that this place should be on your list of places to go when on the island. Just order something different than me. For dessert, we went with the chocolate torte. The blackberry sauce and creme was delectable! The consistency of the torte was more like a cheesecake than a cake. We were happy with our choice, but the apple crumble sounded great, too!

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

We loved the hot tub, the breakfasts, the dogs, and the welcoming people. We were celebrating our 10-year anniversary and it was perfect. We were unfortunate to be there when the water pump for the property broke on our second evening. We had been out cycling all day and desperately needed showers. So this meant no showers, no toilet, no hand washing, etc. etc. They gave us a pitcher of water so we could brush our teeth and a bucket of water to do 1 toilet flush. They were super nice and apologetic. They gave us a bottle of wine and a few pieces of nice soap as a consolation. That's the disappointment and why I knocked them down to 2 stars (it would have been a 1 star had the rest of the experience note been so nice). I know this was an unexpected event. And they should have refunded part of the not-inconsequential price for that night or offered a discount on a future stay. A bottle of wine did not change the fact that I went home from my birthday weekend filthy and dying for a bathroom visit. Running water is expected when you've spent $500 a night for a room.

I think I offended the hostess and waitress after having trouble with their "ring bell for service" bell. We waited a short time in the small entrance and noticed the bell.... Several light taps produced no sound and a more unreserved tap sounded like a fire alarm. The hostess and waitress arrived wide-eyed and I apologized and tried to make light of the awkward meeting... they weren't having it. We were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We stated that in our reservation and were given a half hearted "happy anniversary" after being seated in the middle of the dining room, without any view. Several couples after us were seated with views to the water. It was our first time there and we didn't know to ask... In any case, we loved the food when we finally got it - but it took over an hour and a half after ordering to receive our meal. The waitress, Countnee (name on receipt), couldn't have been less interested in serving us. I guess she never got over the bell incident??? She seemed overly nice to others... even comping a bottle of wine for the couple next to us. We didn't even get the short spiel about how the strawberries in the sorbet were grown in their garden.... she told other people, we heard her- but she couldn't be bothered to take the time with us. We spent a lot of money on what could have been an amazing celebratory dinner for our anniversary had the service been even a little better. Get over yourself and have a little fun. The hostess was wearing jeans, this shouldn't have had such a pretentious, snooty vibe. We had friends recommend dinner here and we were disappointed, will never be back.
