Wow! This place is amazing from the setting to the accommodations. It was easy to find and tips for the ferry were very helpful. Upon arriving contact free check in was set up and very detailed information for the stay was included. We stayed at a resort down the road earlier in the year paid the same but this experience was so much more worth it. We felt safe and welcome the entire stay. Every detail is thought of and high quality linen and toiletries were provided, even wrinkle spray for your clothes. Breakfast was absolutely amazing you can taste the love of food in every bite and the special roast coffee was among the best I have had (I consider myself a coffee snob). The serenity you feel when relaxing pretty much anywhere on the property just melts the life stress away. Amanda is an amazing chef and so personable she helped make my mothers birthday special and I will be forever grateful.

We stayed at the Beautiful Bed & Breakfast Otter's Pond. The rooms are cozy, warm, and very comfortable. We stayed there for a couple of nights. It was warm and inviting and we all had a very nice time In the morning they served a five course breakfast which was very delicious. Sue & Carl are very gracious. They made our stay extra special. They truly have the Aloha Spirit Aloha & Mahalo, Cyd & Ernie Lewis

We stayed in the Swan suite for 2 nights and 3 days for our 15th anniversary. Otter's Pond is such a special place. It definitely left it's mark on us and we can't wait to return. Amanda has really created such a warm and tranquil setting. No detail went unnoticed. The furnishings were so comfy and soft. The clawfoot tub was amazing! The view from our room overlooking the pond and garden was such a welcome treat. We had breakfast every morning on the patio out back and watched the birds. Amanda's hospitality and food were such a warm treat. We had pastries, fresh fruit and a hot meal every morning. So delicious! It was nice that everything felt so private, However, knowing that Amanda was on site if we needed her or just a text away, was nice. Thank you for making our stay so very memorable. You inspired us with Otter's Pond. We can't wait to return!

Beautiful setting for a bed and breakfast. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Owner is lovely and affable. Unfortunately it was a whirlwind trip and the timing didn't work for us to enjoy one of Amanda's delectable meals that we have only heard about. We will be back again.

Goldfinch room

We stayed in the Goldfinch Room which is by far, my favorite of the rooms. If you are choosing between the Swan and Goldfinch Room, definitely choose Goldfinch. It's the only room with its own entrance seperate from the house and the only room with a tv. Since we are a little younger (at least younger than everyone else there; mostly by several decades), we like to watch tv and are a little louder so we appreciated the extra privacy. The only cons to this room is the small shower and there were a couple ants in the bathroom. Don't freak out though...I promise it wasn't gross. Very minor. All in all, the room was great. The breakfasts were nice, but we both like savory breakfasts so all the sweets didn't quite work for us. They always start with a nice sorbet, then some fruit, a grain and then a main dish. The fruit is just fruit...pretty uninteresting. The homemade granola was by far the best thing we had. The whole grain cereal with the brown rice was pretty good as was featherbed eggs with the spinach, cheese and salmon. The apple dutch pancakes were pretty good, but a little sweet. The bananas foster french toast was too sweet for me, so I couldn't finish that. My boyfriend had also called before and told them I was a pescatarian. Since the meals are served to 2-10 people max, I wish they had some substitutes for the sausages etc they served, but oh well. I know it comes with the territory. The property is nice with a nice pond and a hot tub we had to ourselves every time. The owners, Sue and Carl, are very nice . The first morning it was just us two so we got to chat with them and get to know them. I appreciated the little touches such as our names and where everyone was from on each days menu. They also left teas, juices and snacks out and gave us good information about the area. Plus they have a pomeranian and I love dogs! After our trip, Sue and Carl, even mailed us stuff I had forgotten (I'm not a very good packer...what can I say? :( ) which I thought was very nice of them. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast to those looking for a quiet, romantic escape. I wouldn't want to stay in the other rooms though because the other rooms are pretty close together and I just don't want to worry about keeping THAT quiet.

Looking out at the pond from the breakfast table.

We stayed here 11 years ago when my husband proposed and he surprised me with another trip here for our tenth anniversary. I didn't realize it had a new owner but was so pleasantly surprised with Amanda. She was so warm and inviting and the food was AMAZING! The experience was even better than our first time. We honestly didn't have a bad meal on the whole island and Amanda was a great resource for where to go and what to do. On our way home we were talking about when we can go back and what friends we should convince to come with us next time. Our only regret was not taking advantage of Amanda's cooking skills for another meal or two.

We rang the bell, looked around, called their number, but could not locate anyone. My wife and I decided to use the time to explore the island. Charles called, he had been out back doing yard work. When we arrived the second time, we were greeted by Charles with an apology and a tour. The home is tidy, eclectic and quirky. Our room was wonderful. Plenty of space, comfortable bed and charming. Another bonus of staying here was the breakfasts. The food is delicious and unexpected. I did not anticipate seared sushi grade tuna or oat pancakes that rival the best buttermilk pancakes. And the beauty of breakfast times is sitting with other guests along with Jill and Charles discussing everything from how it all began at the Kangaroo B&B to activities to do on the island. I have to say, with the exception of the amazing views from Mount Constitution, the water views from almost everywhere on the island and celebrating my wife, this B&B was a highlight of my trip.

They have a hot tub which is perfect for relaxing in during nice days and a working fireplace that feels cozy on the not-so-nice days. Jill and Charles were attentive to our needs in all the right ways. I was there for a trail running race and have celiac and they took extra steps to make sure I had gluten free options for food. My husband had their normal breakfast and said it was amazing. He hates pancakes but said the ones they made were incredible. Additionally they were very friendly and inviting to an LGBTQ+ couple staying there which made me feel safe and welcome. I look forward to going back in the future!

In order to deal with Covid19, Riley has an ozone machine that runs for two hours to clean the rooms.' The cleaning wasn't done when we arrived (check in time is 3pm, we arrived slightly after that), so we wandered the far. We got to hold a chicken and pet a rooster, and then we tasted a few lovely ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse. We were excited to see a fig tree, although none of the fruits were ripe. The farmhouse was perfect for us as a couple. Lovely comfortable bedroom, mattress and pillows, with thick and soft sheets. The bathroom was large. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking. We made pizza and plum jam while we were there. The farm eggs were great, as was the local yogurt and bacon, Dave's organic bread, and freshly roasted coffee. We didn't get any jam or granola (which we read about in other reviews), but we made our own. We loved being able to explore the garden. The kale was sweet and the basil was fragrant! Things to note: I had been really excited about the "soaking tub" but it was a little grimy on the sides. Though I suspect it was because the water there is hard, and I didn't feel comfortable filling the tub to soak in. I had also expected the pizza kit to be a rolled out pizza dough that you just put topping onto. What we got was pizza dough that needed to be rolled/tossed/shaped. The pizza oven also came with minimal instructions so we had to text Riley about it and then google how to make pizza. (450F, precook the crust, then cook the crust with ingredients). The pizza was very good though. We loved the black garlic and the tomato sauce. Riley was generous about sharing the bounty of the land (and sea!) with us, and we loved his hospitality.

Breakfast was made at the prearranged time convenient for us (so appreciated!) and was delicious and abundant. She sat and chatted with us during breakfast and is so personable. We had to depart on a jet plane that afternoon after our 4-day trip to the Evergreen State and had a few bottles of wine that we hadn't enjoyed so I offered them to Betty and she even suggested she could take their value off our bill, although I refused because they were a gift to her for our lovely stay. My friends also had difficulty sleeping due to the bed quality and the cold from the thin walls as well. Room quality: I got upgraded from the Lighthouse room to the Oar House which had two beds to choose from. It also was missing the main blind facing the outdoor seating area. Even with the thermostat at 70, I found myself shivering in the middle of the night due to thin walls (I could hear the cars zoom by from the back of the house in the room and the windows were single paned). The bathroom wasn't connected to the room, rather it was across the hall that required stepping outside into the cold, though still under a roof. There are no channels to watch, only DVDs which I counted there were 36 to choose from. There was no VCR to use but a bunch of videos to choose from. WiFi is not accessible in the Oar House so I was told to go to the room where breakfast would be served to get any internet, which was across the backyard into the other side of the house. Food: it is all frozen food that you heat yourself. There were Schwann's omelets, pancakes, sausages, frozen Greek yogurt and eggo waffles. The cereals available were mini wheats, raisin bran, corn flakes and others. There is a keurig that only had coffee available. Overall the view is beautiful and the decor is very nautical and unique with pictures of Oggie during his fisherman days also it is 5 min driving to the ferry. But it isn't worth the $135 a night due to poor sleep quality from thin walls and frozen food. At $50 it is definitely worth it just for the view itself but the location isn't in walking distance of anything except for the ferry.

We were unfortunate to be there when the water pump for the property broke on our second evening. We had been out cycling all day and desperately needed showers. So this meant no showers, no toilet, no hand washing, etc. etc. They gave us a pitcher of water so we could brush our teeth and a bucket of water to do 1 toilet flush. They were super nice and apologetic. They gave us a bottle of wine and a few pieces of nice soap as a consolation. That's the disappointment and why I knocked them down to 2 stars (it would have been a 1 star had the rest of the experience note been so nice). I know this was an unexpected event. And they should have refunded part of the not-inconsequential price for that night or offered a discount on a future stay. A bottle of wine did not change the fact that I went home from my birthday weekend filthy and dying for a bathroom visit. Running water is expected when you've spent $500 a night for a room.
