Love the location, near deer harbor on Orcas Island. Rooms were very nice, with outside hot tub. You need to be in relatively good shape though as the units are built on a steep hill. The two times I've been to Deer Harbor have been fabulous and I'm booked for a third this fall. I tend to go in the off season and since the tourist count is lower there is more relaxing because some activities close. My favorite thing is to use the on deck jacuzzi in the morning and enjoy my coffee. This area is a hidden gem. read more

My aunt is a platinum member of WorldMark, and she is incredibly generous with sharing her points. When we decided to get married and honeymoon in the San Juans, she offered to reserve our hotel on Orcas for a week! We gladly accepted the gift, and she made the reservation for us. At first, we were on a wait list but with patience and persistence, we eventually landed a 1 bedroom hillside suite. This location is in Deer Harbor, which is on the far west side of the island. The town has a harbor where sailing, kayaking, and other trips take off from. It also has a pizza parlor which was closed our entire stay and a market/grill (which mainly serves fried food). Otherwise, it's a 30 minute drive into Eastsound where most of the restaurants are. We had a rented car, so we were able to get around. But, I was not expecting how out of the way we'd be. The property itself is quite nice. Every single unit has a view of the harbor and most have their own private hot tub. If we were to come back, the cottages are where it's at! These are standalone little houses that offer a little more privacy than the hillside suites, which are all attached. Our unit was clean and nice, but we could hear some noise through the walls. Also, our hot tub was less than a foot away from the unit next to us. They're divided by a fence structure for privacy, but it was a little awkward because we could hear everything. At one point, they were FaceTiming their crying child, which isn't exactly the soundtrack newlyweds want to hear! Our unit had a small kitchenette with very basic supplies, a fireplace, a king size bed, and a sofa that could convert into a bed. The bathroom could be a little larger, particularly the shower was small, dark, and I felt like the shower curtain (which I'm sure is rarely changed/cleaned) was pressing up against me. We had a nice little deck with a table along with the hot tub and would often open up the door to let the cool air in. There was a single window in the unit (a tiny one in the bathroom), so the only way to let cool air in was to open doors (our AC wasn't functioning as well as it could). The people who work here are very kind. Every time we'd come in, they would greet us as the honeymooners. They provided maps, ice, and helped us check out movies. They have an interesting selection of movies, which we definitely partook in as the island gets pretty quiet in the evenings. Overall, we had a lovely stay. We mainly just wished that we were in a cottage or closer to town. read more

Just returned from a two-night stay here and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. We had a deluxe cottage that overlooked the marina - it was spacious and homey, with a huge jetted tub and a two-person hot tub on the porch. The mini-kitchen provided a sink, microwave and mini-fridge and the bathroom was enormous. The bedroom and living area were lovely - there was comfortable seating and a cozy fireplace. I found it incredibly thoughtful that they kept a flashlight in the room just in case of a power outage. My husband visited the management office twice to collect breakfast - they had a lot of options and trays to allow folks to take their food back to their cottages. The staff was extremely helpful - we missed the 4pm ferry from Anacortes and didn't end up getting to the resort until after they had closed the office for the night. I thought we'd have to make some frantic phone calls, but it turns out that they had made accommodations for anyone not making it over the water on time. The next day, maintenance came by to check on our hot tub (encouraging, to say the least!) and the gentleman had great suggestions on places to visit or walk to. Some things I learned after my first visit to Orcas Island: - Cell service is pretty much non-existent outside of the main hub of the island, Eastsound. - Bring lunch fixings from the mainland so you can take a picnic lunch somewhere or so you can make a few sandwiches to take onto the ferry with you. There are a couple markets and gas stations on the island, but things will be less expensive if you bring them from home. - Get gas in Anacortes. - Take a drive to Mt. Constitution. - Take a walk. We stayed at the Deer Harbor Worldmark for as a Basecamp for a destination wedding. It was AMAZING!!! I can't give enough stars for the staff and facility. Our party had 7 of the 25 units. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful. We were able to have a group meetup every morning and afternoon in the owner's lounge and to use the lounge for a small post wedding dinner (island closes down on Jan 1). It was just lovely. Everyone went away saying that they would love to come back to this amazingly beautiful resort and island. read more

Very nice place, super friendly staff. We stayed in a one bedroom and it was beautifully done. Amazing view, private hot tub, nice pool and BBQ area and gym. Would definitely go back! Across the street from the marina and close to Island Pie Pizza which you can just walk to for a great meal. This island is so pretty, go up to Mount constitution and see the AMAZING views you won't be dissapointed. If you have a Discovery Pass bring it. Tons of hiking and tent camping on the way and beautiful lakes! East Sound has shopping and some fun little places to eat. read more

This is the place is the place to be. You have it all here. The location is right on the harbor side. You access to fishing, crabbing, whale watching and sea plane rides. The cottages face the harbor and the amenities are perfect. But if you plan to be on the phone forget it. The cell reception is non existence. But they do have wireless. So you can keep up with emails. The island has a quaintness to it the town of filled with shops and restaurants and there is a grocery store. The island is home to Moran State park a must if you visit. Lots to do. read more

We came up for a quick spring overnight escape after I found a Tippr deal for the Resort at Deer Harbor. Loved the resort (though it is corporately owned, and I felt a little badly about not supporting local business! ). We stayed in one of the renovated Deluxe Cottages (#109), which was really lovely. We enjoyed the afternoon relaxing on our a sunny porch and two chairs overlooking the harbor. The hot tub was a perfect 103 degrees. The unit was very spacious, with an open floor plan that included a sitting area/TV room, king sized bed, kitchenette, desk, and giant bathroom with a jetted tub! Great value for the price, even if we hadn't had the coupon. The breakfast was a basic but nice continental buffet-style, no hot items. Resort staff was very friendly and always helpful on the phone during the couple of times I called with questions. Wifi was spotty at best; we got okay service on Verizon here, but don't count on the internet. We forgot to bring beer (to enjoy on the sunny porch, of course) and were thrilled to find it was an easy walk down the hill to the marina store to buy a six-pack of decent microbrew. The close proximity to the marina makes this a great place to stay if you are coming up to Orcas on a boat that isn't set up for sleeping. It's also great if you want to stay somewhere off the beaten path; it is ~20 minutes from Eastsound or the ferry landing, and just 10 minutes from the hiking trails at Turtle Back Preserve. read more

Amazing! Right on the marina, spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains. We also bought a Livingsocial deal like some other reviewers and I am thankful we did or we would not have even heard if it! The negative reviews must've had something bad happen to them, we had great service despite the deal. It helps I made a July reservation in February so we got the best cabin! First time here. We arrived late Friday 3/21/14 but front check in was awesome I did not get her name. Security was so nice. My hubby was tired but they managed to get him to laughing his but off that made our whole weekend there awesome. They help us with our internet connection even told us about the cell phone booster that we can use. Honestly we have been to other wyndym resorts & they were the best friendly attentive customer service we ever had experienced. Wish everywhere else people could be more like them. Stayed here for two nights this weekend- 3rd and 4th- it was a Living Social Escapes deal. As I understand it, some of the units have been updated but not all of them- We got an older one that they refer to as "the honeymoon suite". Everything was great, we got into our room easily, the place is nice, not impeccable but nice. We lie down for a bit of a nap when "housekeeping" knocks and come's in rather quickly and leaves us a blanket? strange. Then, we see an ANT, a big black ant. On the ceiling. We watch it. Where did it come from? And then it reveals the answer. There is a large square on the ceiling where there were clearly some poor repairs completed- and there is a tiny crack and then the ANT disappears into the tiny crack. We keep watching, because it's right over our bed. I get boyfriend to kill the ant- BUT THEN MORE ANTS JUST KEEP COMING! I call the front desk and they don't sound surprised, they send a guy with a bottle of bug spray and he sprays into the hole- hours later- the ants are back! yah, we were pissed. this place is not cheap. I then remember that I had sports tape in the car and we get it and put tape over the hole- literally a band-aid on a major issue but that's not for me to care- I just don't want to have nightmares on the stream of ANTS that were invading my bed. The tape worked and we lived through it- but really it was icing on the cake to a mediocre and lackluster trip. We won't be back- way too much of a hassle to get there and the its way too expensive. Came here after purchasing a Living Social deal. This resort is beautiful! We stayed in a deluxe cottage which was very spacious, huge bathroom, wonderful and comfy king bed, fireplace, living room and mini kitchen! Also, a private hot tub on the deck which overlooked the marina! Each morning they serve a nice continental breakfast with many options so everyone can find something they like. They also serve Starbucks coffee - yay! The unit was clean and comfortable, the bathrobes were soft and comfy, the jetted bathtub was superb! I can't wait to stay here again! Janine (I hope I got her name right!) checked us in and was at the lobby everyday. She was so friendly and helpful. It was like having breakfast with a good friend each morning. Holiday at Orcas Island: Deer Harbor is great for families. The little cottage we stayed in was a perfect launching point for the various activities on the island. The kids loved the jacuzzi (of course). A good sized porch allows eating alfresco. From there, you get a nice view of the lake. A short walk away is a pizza restaurant and the pier which has a sundries store. This is the kind of place where memories are made. read more

Just stayed here through a living social escapes deal. I will start off by saying Orcas Island is very beautiful but the Resort at Deer Harbor is one of the WORST places to stay. My boyfriend and I came during the week and biked around the island. The rooms were ok, but not even for the living social deal would they be considered a deal to me. It was an overpriced escape that I won't do again. The hot tub never stayed hot and most of the time wouldn't get above 97 degrees, the continental breakfast didn't have room for people to sit and eat, the cleaning staff was practically waiting at the door for us to check out, and the staff accused us of stealing. We thought everything was fine until I got a call when I was back in Olympia to say that my credit card would be charged because of a missing part to the cable box. This is very odd considering we had no trouble turning the TV during our stay. They accused us of stealing some network card, of which I have no idea what it is. My boyfriend and I went to Orcas Island to ride bikes and hike-not steal weird cable that cost $70. This is absolute crap and DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE read more

The Resort is located in the far side of Orcas Island on Deer Harbor, about 15 minutes away from "downtown" (Eastsound). We snagged a deal through Groupon for a two night in a Deluxe Cottage. It had a spectacular and serene view which overlooked the harbor. Each cottage had its own private hot tub and deck, which was very nice. We had a king size bed, which was nice, but was somewhat uncomfortable to my taste. I prefer softer bed as opposed to firm. We had our own private hot tub, small kitchenette with mini fridge (Awesome for leftovers when vacationing) and a 360 fireplace. The bathroom was very spacious, and even had a jetted tub (It was broken, but we had a hot tub so we didn't make it a big deal). The ladies at the lobby was very accommodating and helpful. Mariah was very nice and helped us choose restaurants, and gave us a map of places to hike nearby. Complimentary breakfast was very nice. Cinnamon rolls, bagels, English muffins, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juice, milk, tea, and coffee. I thought it had quite a variety for what they had. Grills and utensils were usable at the resort if you wanted to grill up food. For the price, it was an amazing purchase! read more

Beautiful location for a relaxing stay. We like the privacy and quiet surrounding, as the condo units don't have upstairs or downstairs neighbors. Both the front desk lady and the facility guy (Ethan) were wonderful. They offered to let us borrow sand toys when they noticed our toddler. We got great advice on local trails, fishing, dining etc. When our jet tub didn't heat up quickly enough before we had to leave for our ferry ride (we turned it down too low the night before), Ethan rushed to bring a cart of buckets filled with hot water. We were very touched by his hard work. The resort is not far from ferry landing. I wish it's closer to the state park but we are not here for exhausting hikes anyway. Our kid enjoyed the few times we saw deer around the resort and on local trails (esp. around the fruit trees). read more
