The cookies every day were such a nice touch. The area is easily walkable which was nice. The complimentary breakfast was so good! The hashbrowns on the second day were quite literally the best hashbrowns I've ever had, I was so impressed. You eat with other guests at the same time which is also charming. The Nantucket Inn is the quintessential B&B: Great old house, wonderful grounds, friendly staff and owners, and hearty breakfasts. We booked the inn well in advance for our north sound adventure and were able to secure the Captain's Quarters - the room with its own balcony over the front porch. The room itself is spacious and very well maintained, the bed comfortable, the sitting area chairs are perfect for reading, and the balcony is a big plus. Blankets are provided for warding off the chill when sitting outside. The location of the inn is just outside of the old town Anacortes and with easy access to highway 20 for exploring Fidalgo and Whidbey islands. You can also get to the tulip farms in 15-20 minutes. There are some good places to eat just down Commercial (see other reviews). A few notes: Commercial can be noisier than we expected all night, the daily cookies are delicious, and the guests, at least when we stayed, are all friendly - making for a lively breakfast conversation. read more

I had a wonderful stay here while I was in town for a friend's wedding. Check-in was quick. There were fresh cookies in the room waiting for me after check-in. The owners were kind and friendly hosts. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. I got one of the spa add-on packages which made for a fun self-care moment. The Nantucket Inn is in an historic building with a 100 year history. It is in meticulously cared for and in exceptional condition. One can tell the owners take great pride in their property. Everything is clean and perfectly decorated. Our room (Dungeness room) was very comfortable and quiet. The queen bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight as Jessica made eggs, bacon, pastries with fresh fruit, OJ, and coffee. All was delicious. We will stay there again if we find ourselves back in Washington state! read more

Beautiful bed and breakfast, phenomenal service, and great suggestions for ways to enjoy your trip to anacortes. I am terrible with names but the owners of this bed and breakfast are fantastic! The wife suggested a wonderful little road-trip around the island which made our trip even better and her suggestion for our anniversary dinner (Adrift) was on point. The room we stayed in was comfortable, clean, and homey but modern with all the charms of an older house. The grounds were gorgeous and the owner (husband) was quick to come out late in the evening and turn on the fire pit and heaters for my husband and myself to sit and enjoy (without us having to ask). It was so welcoming and thoughtful. We also got delicious fresh baked cookies in our room upon arrival, the best coffee and tea stand with a variety available 24 hours a day, made it feel like home. The breakfast in the morning was the icing on the cake. Made fresh and delicious. We will be back. read more

I actually don't know where to start! We arrived in the afternoon and were promptly greeted by Marilyn at the front desk. SO helpful with the questions we asked and then we went to our room (Captain's Quarters)! A package of homemade cookies awaited us as we looked around the well-appointed and spacious areas! After familiarizing ourselves with Anacortes, we returned to the Inn for the evening. The following morning, freshly roasted coffee and a variety of teas were available, followed by a beautifully set table featuring fresh orange juice and a different gourmet breakfast each morning prepared by the owner and host, Jessica. We rarely saw Mike, her husband, but were able to say hello to him one of the mornings! This is what a true B&B should be. Always a warm welcome to their guests, food preparation specific to a guests needs, and the love and compassion one must have when owning this type of establishment! I loved my stay here! My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights in the mermaid room, which was great. The bed was comfortable, and there were lots of pillows. We arrived past the check in time and the owners made it super easy to get to our room, which was stocked with fresh cookies! We bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed it outside next to the heaters- it was lovely (and wine glasses were provided for us!). Jessica made an amazing breakfast both mornings we were there. I stayed there last night, and the experience was seriously comfortable. The owner was out of state but James was a fantastic host and he had great recommendations for where to eat dinner. The room was big enough with a large bed and electrical outlets conveniently located. No workspace and not much surface area for things in the bathroom but this is a b&b not a business travelers hotel. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful - I had an egg, fresh fruit, and muffins. This is a must! I can't imagine a better experience than the one provided at the Nantucket Inn. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and given the keys to the charming Mermaid Suite. Homemade cookies were waiting for us inside our room. We opened the windows and enjoyed the cool breeze coming in from the water. The gazebo in the back provided a lovely setting for some afternoon wine drinking where we met other guests in the hotel. Everyone remained safely socially distanced and wore masks the entire time. The cleanliness of the hotel can only be compared to some of the nicest hotels I've stayed in in Japan. It was impeccable! However, the cherry on top of this AMAZING Inn is the breakfast! We arrived downstairs for our scheduled complimentary breakfast and had our choice of several locations to sit. We chose a lovely table on the patio. Expecting the usual continental breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised when we were brought homemade skillet breakfast burritos. They were DELICIOUS! I can't imagine a better place to stay!! This place is absolutely fantastic in every way. Great decor, wonderful complimentary breakfast that changes every day. Not a buffet but made from scratch by Jessica the owner. Tables are communal style and she knows your name when you come down. We stayed in the Crows Nest which is on the third floor facing south so there were no noise issues. Jessica is super friendly and has tips on where to go if you are looking. We were there during the Anacortes Art Festival so the town was quite a madhouse. They also have window mounted air conditioners in the rooms which are handy in August when we were there The only issue I could see was that there was no elevator so it wouldn't be feasible for someone with that need. I stayed in the Dungeness room and it was so beautiful. The owner was so nice and made me feel right at home. My ferry was early the next morning and she asked what time it was leaving. She makes a homemade breakfast from 8-9 but told me she would pack me a to go breakfast to take onto the ferry before 8. She made me a breakfast burrito and it was amazing!!! I want more right now! I tried to have my wedding at this venue. The grounds are really pretty and they've done a good job with the landscaping. We gave them a deposit to hold the date, we talked about a menu, and then I stopped hearing from the owners... Completely. I was told I would have a contract and a menu with pricing by the end of the week and I heard nothing. Over the next few weeks I texted, called, wrote emails, and I heard nothing. 3 weeks before my wedding date I still had heard nothing. I finally threatened to move to a different venue and 5 days later I had a contract. Well, the menu didn't have what we had discussed and the pricing was ridiculous. I changed venues. Thank goodness there was another place with that date open or I would have been SOL. This venue does not have its own linens, tables, china, or flatware. All of this must be rented to the tune of thousands of dollars. Under NO circumstance should you give these people your money. They didn't want mine, and they probably won't do a good enough job to show that they want yours. Take your business someplace else. read more

What a hidden gem! We stayed here for a weekend wedding. Super accessible off Highway 20, off the main drag Commercial Avenue. The Victorian home is stunning!! Owner Jessica greeted us as we walked through the door and immediately made us feel at home. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious and made from scratch - rotated daily sweet and savory (french toast and biscuits and gravy). Jessica was very sweet to work with my vegetarian needs! Gazebo in the backyard lit up with twinkle lights, fire pit and blankets. Rocking chairs on the front porch. Freshly baked cookies. Seriously, this place was magical. Will absolutely come back! If I had to think of any cons, it was the lack of plugs in the bedroom and that - given it's a bed and breakfast - the walls are pretty thin and the floorboards are creaky. Wow this was a really great experience! This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast. I really loved the hostess Jessica. She was really welcoming and conversational but she also didn't make me feel weird for wanting to go up to my room and be alone. There are homemade cookies and coffee and tea available 24/7. The house was seriously spotless, beautiful and old. The sheets were 1 million thread count. The backyard was so nice. I really enjoyed my stay. A beautiful house with wonderful innkeepers that make your visit to Anacortes so much more enjoyable. During a last minute decision to get out of Seattle for part of the weekend we stumbled across the Nantucket Inn's website after exhausting our options to stay on Whidbey Island and Leavenworth; in the end this was a wonderful diversion to our original plans. We ended up getting to Anacortes later then the check in so we called to alert the in-keepers of this and they were quite accommodating. When we finally made it to the inn (which is almost impossible to miss), we where greeted Jeff and shown straight to our beautiful room on the first floor. We didn't meet Stephanie during our stay but Jeff was kind enough to give us some history of the house and let us look at any of the rooms that weren't rented out that night (~50% occupied). I cannot stress how beautiful and homely this house is, as a previous reviewer stated, you feel quite comfortable walking around without shoes and it's very true. Access to kitchen if you choose to cook your own food is there and the ability for people to host parties or events is available making this a superb choice for anyone. I don't want to write a super long review, but the only reason we gave this 4 stars is we where hoping for more for breakfast. It was simple; grain products, some eggs and great juices. But it wasn't what we expected for a Bed and Breakfast (though to be fair this was my first). If you want to relax, be in a clean, beautiful and well managed B&B that cannot be matched in Anacortes I would highly suggest the Nantucket Inn. tldr; Amazing place to stay, not expensive, wonderful detail and great rooms. This is our third stay at the Nantucket in Anacortes, WA. Our past experiences were always enjoyable (with wonderful hospitality from each prior host) and we LOVE Anacortes. But... This time, the property had really changed... Jessica, the newest (2017) owner, transformed it into a true coastal Inn. THE HOST: Jessica lives on the property with her husband. She is very personable, engaging, and eager to make your stay comfortable. Having lived on the island for decades, she knows the area well (so just ask for tips on what to do and where to go if you're new to the area). She's a wonderful cook and has a delightful sense of decorating. THE DECOR: The vibe is refreshingly different from other typical BnBs: No weird cat lady to greet you, no pink roses on hunter green striped wallpaper - everywhere. No fat baby cherubs flying around the ceiling, or other hauntingly Victorian motifs to overwhelm your senses and creep you out. Instead, you're instantly enveloped in a soothing array of grays, blues, and whites creating a calm, fresh atmosphere. Jessica's personal fingerprints on the interior's transformation was inspiring! BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served* between 8:00 am and 9:00 am (thank you for not making us get up at the crack of dawn just for a Costco muffin and coffee). We were lured out of bed by the delicious smell of home-cooked Dutch Babies, crisp bacon, yogurt parfaits, and fresh- brewed local coffee. (We only regret not trying the different breakfast menus on all the days we were there). *Community style at the main dining table. TIP: Advance adjustments could be made for food allergies or special dietary needs. THE ROOM: We stayed in the High Tide Suite (where we've stayed before). We love this third floor, top-of-the-house room, equipped with many long-term accommodations including: a small kitchen table next to a window with a view of the bay, a kitchen sink, place settings for four, mini fridge, microwave, paper towels, serving tray, Keurig coffeemaker and coffee pods (decaf and regular), teas, sweetners, vanilla Coffeemate creamer, full-sized washer and dryer, ironing board and iron, generous closets, and enough floor space for a two-person yoga session. The bathroom is well-stocked with loads of towels and washcloths, as well as hairdryer, travel sized lotion and shampoo, makeup remover towelettes, and soaps. The uncovered porthole window in the bath feels a little exposed, but Jessica assured us no one could see in from outside so no worries there. TIP: if you unlatch the bathroom window for air, the porthole window falls all the way out in your hands and is slightly heavy as you set it aside. THE BED: The king-sized bed is firm, yet deliciously cushioned by a mattress topper sandwiched in clean white sheets and layered in a soft down comforter, a lightweight blanket, and piles of squishy feather pillows. There's also a high-raised single bed tucked in an alcove where you can dream out the window as the sun sets over the distant bay. NOISE: At night, you can quiet the sounds from the busy street traffic below by closing the room's well-insulated new dual pane windows. In the early morning, open the windows to the fresh ocean air and the sound of passing seagulls. Guests' noises were very minimal (to us). One night we heard people arrive after we had fallen asleep. Another night we heard muffled voices coming from somewhere in the house down below the room. Otherwise, from inside our room, we were unaware of other guests* in the house. *BnB guests tend to be better neighbors than hotel guests in our experience. -No barking yappy dogs. -No 2 AM beer pong games. -No zumba dancing on the ceiling. NOTES: Easy to find - off hwy. 20 in the first block of Commercial Avenue, off to the left. Parking is backwards as you enter from the street so you'll need to make a U turn for angled street parking. Close to town, and local shopping. Great chowder and fish (Bob's) just across the street for takeout or dine-in and a yummy donut drive-through just down the street on the right (look for the purple-trimmed building). Good food choices in the old historic downtown. CLOSE TO: Deception Pass Campbell Lake La Conner historical waterfront village Tulip Festival Anacortes Ferry to Sidney, BC Sea-Tac (83 miles) PERSONAL WISH LIST...or what I like to call: we-would-even-pay-extra for: A few firm pillows, a small couch to sit & watch TV, a sharp kitchen knife in the kitchen to cut things like apples & cheese, a toaster oven (we were really craving toasted bagels), a coffee maker (with regular cream) (serious coffee addicts). We should have asked, but not sure if it was available... We would have loved breakfast delivered to the room each morning (for the exceptionally indulgent stay)!
