When we here, this delicious cake was presented for the 6 of us in one of their largest suites.
    Whitney B.

I came here with family for 2 nights and 3 days during the summer. We stayed in the Lopez Suite, which has a max occupancy of 8 people. We found Harrison House Suites by chance because everywhere else around the area was already reserved and booked. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when we arrived. However, after spending 3 days there, all I could think was, "Damn, this is what it feels like to be spoiled as hell." How spoiled? I'm still trying to lose the weight that I put on in the 3 days I was here in July. Breakfast here is served promptly at 8-9 AM, as well as additional homemade snacks like pastries and granola. I would go out to eat an overly filling meal at a restaurant, and then come back to our suite expecting to sleep it off. Instead, there were baked goods on the table. Each night, I essentially ate myself into oblivion and felt like Jabba the Hut. I was so confused. I wasn't sure what to do or what to eat anymore, so I just ate everything. I have very good logic. Each and every space in their B&B is quaintly decorated with a homey feel, yet updated and modern. When you check-in, you enter a living room type of space and we were greeted by a lovely woman who gave us the ins and outs of the place. We originally booked the room for 6, but ended up having 2 others with us. She voiced no concern with that, so I thought that was a bonus. Sometimes hotels and Bed & Breakfast places are uptight about how many guests there will be before you check in, but not here. Everything they make for you here is fresh and delicious, and they can accommodate dietary needs. The entire suite is fully furnished from the bathroom to their kitchen. They have fresh orange juice and milk in the refrigerator; they refill it every morning, so there's no need to be conservative with the beverages. The cabinets are stocked with Nature Valley bars, tea bags, oatmeal, and other breakfasty-related items. There is a stove top, microwave, sink, knives, utensils, plates, everything you would need to cook a fine meal yourself. But why would you? You're in San Juan Islands. One thing to keep in mind is that this suite has only 1 bathroom. We had 8 people, and most of us were girls. Just think on that for a minute. Being neither a child nor an elder, there's a tendency to get the butt end of every deal. I showered here after everyone else, and pretty much had cold showers every night. I slept on a twin size in the kid's room, and the ceiling was like a foot away from my face. It was still the best 3 nights I have had, ever. Come here if you're looking for a place to stay on San Juan. Very pleasant people and service here, as well as a menu that you can't complain about. This B&B is also very close to the ferries, in case you're with any group of people who have poor time management. You could pretty much walk out of your room, roll down the hill, and you'll find yourself in line onto a ferry.

The staff at the San Juan Collection (Tucker and Harrison houses) is superb. Really could not improve on our experience. We had people there and willing to help if needed, but otherwise we had space, peace and quiet. They are well situated to the ferry and town. Food was spectacular - even catering to my need to abstain from gluten. If we could live within our time here, we would. Alas, even if only for a couple of nights, it pressed the necessary reset button. Definitely recommended.

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

The grounds -- consisting of about 4 or 5 separate buildings -- had a lovely chill vibe, lots of greenery around the compound, an indoor pool and sauna and a nice array of separate outdoor seating areas. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.

We were unfortunate to be there when the water pump for the property broke on our second evening. We had been out cycling all day and desperately needed showers. So this meant no showers, no toilet, no hand washing, etc. etc. They gave us a pitcher of water so we could brush our teeth and a bucket of water to do 1 toilet flush. They were super nice and apologetic. They gave us a bottle of wine and a few pieces of nice soap as a consolation. That's the disappointment and why I knocked them down to 2 stars (it would have been a 1 star had the rest of the experience note been so nice). I know this was an unexpected event. And they should have refunded part of the not-inconsequential price for that night or offered a discount on a future stay. A bottle of wine did not change the fact that I went home from my birthday weekend filthy and dying for a bathroom visit. Running water is expected when you've spent $500 a night for a room.
