This place has been on my to-try list for awhile now, and I'm so sad it took me so long to come in! If you haven't visited before, the restaurant took over the space that used to host Wild Craft Cider (which is just down the road now) and it is a fun, modern industrial style. They have larger indoor picnic tables, some smaller tables with barstools and some outdoor seating. They also have a garage door that is open when the weather is nice which is especially helpful during covid. They also have parking in a shared lot across from the entrance. We ordered the meat pizza special and the salad special at the recommendation of our server and thought both were fantastic. Some have mentioned the crust being burnt, but this is really just the style of the pizza (it's wood fired) and it doesn't taste burnt at all. We found the portions to be pretty generous. If you're not super hungry, one of the pizzas could probably feed 3-4 people, especially if you order other sides or salads. They source a lot of their ingredients from local farmers and you can definitely tell! Lastly, we also shared a flight and got to try a decent selection of their beers. They make all different kinds of styles including IPAs, quads, sours, ales and stouts. We really liked the quad, the golden sour ale and the Oregon IPA. They offer most of their beers in smaller taster sizes if you're not ready to commit to a full pour. Overall, I highly recommend stopping in! read more

Calling pizza lovers in Eugene: you need to try this place! I don't think I would have stumbled across The Wheel Apizza Pub without Yelp--it's outside of the downtown area next to the train tracks--but I'm sure glad I did. Don't miss it! Pick from approximately a dozen pies, which are 14" and a good size to split between two people, especially if you try one of the fresh salads. The Wheel Apizza Pub has a nice variety of craft and bottled beers for you to couple with your slices of heaven, which is made even better (at least during the summer and early fall) with its half-indoor/half-outdoor table setup. Normally I absolutely love Wheel a Pizza but the last few times I have left wishing we had gone elsewhere. Cough "hey neighbor" cough! Service is great and husband loves the beer but there is wood fired and then there is burnt. No one wants burnt pizza. I have been hearing about this place for quite some time. And then when I heard their pizza dough is sourdough, that made me want to eat there. The reason behind that is sourdough bread has a lower glycemic value, meaning it turns to sugar in your blood slower than the usual crusts. I must be critical though because, as is the case with so many restaurants these days, the noise and volume of the crowd when the restaurant is busy is just too much. We were dining with two people, one of whom I had never made the acquaintance, and it was really difficult to communicate without being right in each others face. And with a new person, a little distance is more comfortable for both parties. It was a warm evening so the windows and doors were open and made for a comfortable fresh air dining experience. I had a glass of wine which I enjoyed very much and the two men in our party had house brewed beers, which they seemed to enjoy. And another person had a margarita which she didn't quite finish. So I don't know what her opinion was on it, Now, for the food. Despite my excitement about a sourdough crust, I didn't feel like having pizza! I had a polenta dish with meatballs. Normally that dish is prepared with sausage, but I was craving meatballs. It's not on the menu so it was a substitution and somehow it got kind of mixed up. But in the end, I got my meatballs which were excellent. And polenta was very nicely prepared and very moist. I think the marinara is one of the best I've ever had. The men had the pizza and they really liked that as well. I did get to try it and I liked it. Definitely a flavorful crust. The other person in our party had the beet salad which I was lucky enough to get a taste of as well. I thought it was great and she finished the whole thing which, indeed, was a sizable portion. All in all it was a fine experience and I think the four stars really just relates to how darn noisy the place was/is. We definitely will return. read more

First time but won't be the last. Had an awesome Arugula beet salad, the arugula can be bitter , but with the beets , pickled onion and oranges it took that bitterness away. Everything complements each other so well. A must order again for me! We also had the Margherita pizza & pepperoni pizza. Loved them both crust was nice a crispy and thin. I've had this place on my Yelp bookmarks for a while. My friends have had a negative experience here twice, but I still wanted to try for myself. This place is in a cool location near the Elevation bouldering gym below Skinner's Butte. The interior is cool and casual with some bar seats near the cash register. We tried the lunch special (slice and salad) and a drink (kombucha, and house made ginger soda). The pizza was good but a disappointing size. I expect sizes similar to Sizzle Pie or Mezza Luna, but this slice was about the same as a digiorni freezer pizza. Nothing exciting or memorable about my pepperoni pizza and same to say about my salad. As previous reviewers have said, it has an oil and vinegar dressing and inconsistent with toppings. Mine had only red onions and radishes, my friend's had red onions, radishes, and carrots. I would love to see more dressing options and more toppings added. Most places around town have slice and salad combos with more impressive toppings for comparable prices. The specials listed on the board looked creative and tasty, but not sure if I will return to try them when I didn't like the actual pizza at a pizza restaurant. Glad I tried it anyways! read more

It may be "apizza" (not pizza), but it's the best goddamn pie in the Eug. I've waited far too long and consumed far too many pies from this place to not finally slap a review on Yelp. The world must know just how good the pizza scene is getting in Oregon with the help of these dudes. I'm pretty reserved when it comes to handing out five stars, but they've earned the shit out of them! I know I'm always going to get an impeccably crafted pie with local, organic ingredients and a beautiful lightly-charred but chewy sourdough crust. There's nothing I would change about their pies as they clearly know what they're doing, from the dough to ingredients all the way down to recipe design. They know just how to fashion the toppings and portions to nail all the yummy spots. I've been all over the map with the pizzas I've ordered. I've gone through phases with different ones (lately it's been the Meatball Pie). The Longbridge Hacker is a go-to when I want a meat pie with lots of garlic. But my favorite is the Moby Dick. They absolutely crushed this one with the fresh baby shrimp, bacon, chives, garlic and the lemon ricotta cream. Salt, fat, and acid ... and garlic. It's divine! And let's not overlook the regular old Tomato Pie. It's simple and traditional, but so delicious. No apizza feast is final without some veg. We always get a large Kale Caesar Salad for sharing, and while the $13 price point is a bit steep for a salad, it can't be helped. Their dressing is on point with just a wee hint of anchovy. Topped with hazelnuts and romano cheese, this is a sublime affair with leafy greens. Other accoutrements of note: the Smoked Wings. Oh my, these just snap when you bite into them. Juicy and plump, your lips shall sizzle while you're gnawing away. Get your wet wipes ready! It's almost a crime that we've yet to discuss the beer. This an apizza PUB after all. Their beers are delish and hold their own with some of the more well-known breweries in the area. The Oregon Love IPA is their definitive brew, very drinkable and well-balanced. It doesn't eviscerate your palate with hoppiness like so many other Northwest IPAs do, and it jives so well with all of their pies. Any time you walk into this place they'll most certainly offer you a taste of one of their many beers. They do some terrific sours, and I've got my eye on that Cascara Cherry Stout for my next apizza encounter. In sum, I've never been disappointed here. Always friendly and inviting vibes, and now that the pandemic doldrums have passed us by, there's a new buzz about this place (as people are finding out just how fantastic it is). I would go as far as to say this is my favorite food spot in Eugene. My perfect take-out feast for two looks something like this: Kale Caesar Salad (large) Smoked Wings Tomato Pie (for my wife) Moby Dick or Longbridge Hacker (for moi) 4 Pack of Oregon Love IPA or Stratus Hazy IPA Am I forgetting anything? Delicious! I got the Mariota (minus the pineapple) and it exceeded my expectations. Thin crust deliciousness!!!! My husband had a diy pizza and he loved it. They have lots of different toppings to choose from. The wings were superb. Beer is lovely. They said they switch the recipes up often. Let me start of by saying how cute this place is! I don't know how long it's been around but everything looked brand new. The buffalo cauliflower was super spicy (but really good) so beware if you're not a fan of spicy things. The (v)ishiny pizza is vegan and super good. The tempeh was awesome. What a find! We were in the mood for pizza on a Sunday evening and found this place that uses organic ingredients! The employees here rock! So very friendly. We told them we were visiting and they were helpful suggesting things to do. We got our pizzas quickly and both were top notch! We brought our own wine and paid the $15 corkage fee which isn't bad. One of the many things I have learned this past year is to really jump at the chance to visit a business I am interested in visiting. If there is a spot that you have been meaning to check out sprint to get yourself through their doors. The Wheel Apizza Pub is one of these spots for me. I have been wanting to visit their Whiteaker location since they first open but only recently had the chance to finally make it in. I am so upset with myself that it took me so long. As soon as I walked through the patio entrance I was hit with a great sense of nostalgia for warm summer afternoons getting together with friends for a drink and good food. The Wheel would have been an excellent location for on of these outings. It still can be if you are comfortable with dining out! They have a spacious seating area, a full bar, and an open area where you can watch them sling pizza. Now onto the food! Their pizza is what I would call 'easy pizza'. What I mean is it's very easy to eat. I ate nearly a third of the pie before being stopped by my husband begging for his own slice. I could have easily eaten the entire thing myself if there wasn't any interruptions. I ordered the margherita, which is always my go to pizza. But I am looking forward to trying their others. I can not, CAN NOT, wait until the world opens back up so I can send out that group text to everyone saying to meet me here. I'm really looking forward to that day. read more

They serve their naturally leavened dough pizza in one size (14 inches). They use brick ovens to cook at super high temperatures so in my experience the pizza comes out decently quick. Also super tasty with the slight char around the crust. The ingredients all seem to be of great quality (they claim to use local butchers and farms to source ingredients). I find their pizza to be decently priced for the quality (around $25 per artisan pie). Most pizza restaurants I call my order in before I get there but I love to order in house so I can get one of their beers or cocktails smile I wait. I love this place!!!! The pizza is delicious and they have a really good kale Caesar salad which is impressive because I'm not the biggest fan of kale. Their food menu has a nice variety of vegan such as cauliflower wings, veggie and meat options. They have kombucha on tap for the non beer drinkers as well as organic house made sodas. I personally like their beer and cocktail menu. My go to is their "amargarita" which is made out of el Jimador blanco, citrus juice, house orange liquer and citrus bitters and the ice they use is that small circle pellet ice which is always fun to crunch on hot summer day. Outside seating is limited to two people per table. Indoor seating is available staff are wearing masks and patrons wear masks unless eating. Staff is friendly and prompt.
