After reading the reviews on Yelp, I was not expecting a high level of service, which for me, is the number one component of a great dining experience. However, West Table exceeded my expectations! We arrived at our reservation time and were seated promptly, the server was knowledgable, polite, prompt and assured we were enjoying often, but was not bothersome. The decor was minimal, industrial, while all the while cosmopolitan. The patrons were well dressed and I was pleased to see a metropolitan clientele as opposed to the rural one typical of Lubbock (a waitress had on some boots, which was off putting, but nevertheless). The staff was young and attractive. As my aperitif, I enjoyed the Boulevardier. It was quite sweet in the beginning, but it was aromatic and full. I enjoyed it. We chose the bone marrow appetizer. At first, we were disconcerted about the charred crustinis, but the marriage of the flavors made a lot of sense-tasty. The poblano soup was a bit salty, but hardy and flavorful. As our entrees, we chose the Char-Broiled Beef Filet and NOLA Shrimp. The filet was requested medium rare, however it arrived definitively rare. I did not mind this. It was well seasoned and very flavorful. I paired it with Trapiche Malbec. It complemented the filet delightfully. The mashed potatoes were folded with horseradish. My companion did not enjoy this at all. I did not mind it, but I did become slightly nauseous because it was a bit overpowering. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the urban feel. My first trip to Lubbock and this is already my favorite restaurant. What a gem! Very cool and eclectic. The staff were professional and pleasant as you would expect in a higher end establishment. I started with a cocktail. The Mariposa Violeta. This was described as Light and Playful. It's was gorgeous, refreshing, and slightly sweet. It was the perfect drink for a Spring evening. The food was amazing. We had the Crab Hushpuppies to start. They were small but mighty. A hushpuppy batter with delicious crab inside. The remoulade was tangy and creamy. Next I shared the wedge salad with my guest. I love a good wedge salad. Two perfect little wedges for each of us with tons of flavor. The sharp and creamy blue cheese dressing with pieces of wonderful salty bacon and the fresh crispiness of the iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes. Finally the entrees. My guest had the Pan Seared Pink Patagonia Shrimp. Perfectly seasoned and seared shrimp with crispy delicious gnocchi bites. The creamy puree and flavorful bean salsa complemented the plate. I had the Carne Asada. A new item on the menu that evening. The meat was perfectly seasoned. The Okinawan potatoes were creamy and flavorful. The salsa added a freshness and the drizzle of chili oil added another layer of flavor. The plantains were a great crispy element to an already perfect meal. Best meal I have had in a while. My wife has been wanting to try this place for a while now. We finally made a point to check it out with some friends of ours and we had a great experience. Our friends made the reservation and could only get a later time, but we were seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was awesome. She was tall and had a deep voice, but we don't remember her name. She answered all of our first timer questions and suggested great drinks and appetizers. She also picked up on the fact that my wife, who is pregnant, was missing out on the bar experience and made her a ginger soda "mocktail". We had Bone Marrow for the first time which was really cool and my wife loved the beets salad. We all shared entrees with each other. The Filet was the best I'd ever had. The Chicken Fried Elk was delicious. The Short Ribs and Lamb Pie were the toss up for the winning dishes we had. Our friends really wanted dessert but had a hard time deciding after eating so much. Our waitress joked that she "loves to boss people around" and she would pick something for us. The Apple cake was really good with salty caramel and not so big we regretting eating it. This is some of the best food we've ever had in Lubbock and our waitress was very unique. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is awesome. They use fresh seasonal ingredients, have many local items, and change the menu every time we come...which we love!!! It's a great atmosphere downtown that reminds you of a bigger city, so it's a perfect destination for our date nights out (we get to "travel" and still be close to home and the baby). Autry, my favorite waitress in town started working there and brings a wonderful personality and humor to great service. We really enjoyed seeing her there too. This place is the whole package and we love to dress up and spend a night out together there. We especially love the bone marrow and Chicken Fried Elk. The West Table always has spot on Seafood. They also have innovative cocktails like "Yam on Rye" that reflect seasonally appropriate ingredients as much Chef Cameron's food does. This place is a little pricey in general for us to come as often as we would like, but it has always been worth it and always a pleasure when we do! read more

Don't really understand it. The menu was average (a little strange) and flavors were very average. Parking is terrible, service was very bad and the exposed kitchen means you get to hear the cooks yell and curse. This is Lubbock guys!
