This small, quaint venue has comfortable seating and a refreshment stand providing wine, soft beverages, and snacks. This Thursday, "Jazz At The Merc" hosted the Louis Van Taylor Quartet, comprised of acoustic piano, upright bass, drums, and Mr. Van Taylor on tenor and soprano saxophone. Every year the citizens of Temecula have organized this event and this is the first time I've had the pleasure of visiting! The talent was amazing, especially the second half which featured jazz vocals and upbeat instrumentals. The staff from Temecula community theater were awesome and attentive. If you're needing a glass of of wine or a snack, there's a twenty minute intermission half way through the festival program. There's plenty of seating and there isn't a bad view in the house.

The floors were noticeably messy, some might even say gross. There were random spills that clearly had not been wiped up, and even the bathrooms were bad. We waited a long time for our first round of drinks, and when the food finally came out, it was not even hot, which made it even more frustrating. The food itself did not live up to the price. The "tempura" artichoke hearts were basically just heavily breaded and fried, not light or crispy like you would expect or like the menu suggests. The charcuterie board, which was over $50, was kind of shocking. It looked like a random mix of deli meats, basic cheeses, canned fruit, and filler. Nothing felt special or worth the price. It looks amazing, but do not be fooled by what you see around you. You are better off spending $25 at Trader Joe's. The ribeye was wildly underwhelming. If I wanted a steak I could buy at Food 4 Less and grill in the park, I would do it myself. The chicken somehow managed to be even worse, dry and lacking flavor. Lemon and capers, where? Overall, it felt overpriced and poorly executed. Between the cleanliness issues, the long wait, and the disappointing food, it is easy to say it is definitely not worth your time. Check out the Gambling Cowboy instead. This is a no brainer when you read the replies from the owner to any negative feedback. If an establishment feels the need to defend itself in such an unprofessional manner, that tells you everything you need to know about taking your money elsewhere. No ownership, just blame. Nobody is out here writing reviews to ruin your business, you are doing that well enough on your own. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

Instead of trying to fix the situation, staff asked if we wanted boxes while we were still sitting there clearly unhappy and barely served. The final straw was my father-in-law saying, "I'll just eat my burger, I'm starving." The manager brought it out already boxed and bagged. He had specifically requested no lettuce. When he mentioned it, she confidently replied, "Sir, that burger doesn't even come with lettuce." We opened the bun. Full lettuce. The expression on her face said it all. No accountability, poor service, cold food, and a completely disappointing Mother's Day experience. Needless to say, we won't be back.
