Don't waste your time. Customer service sucks, the hair sucks, just don't do it. My hair wouldn't hold color and my curls dropped in less than 2 hours after curling my hair. I contacted them about it and they said I "over processed my hair with heat". Even though, I should be able to use hot tool on my hair. They didn't even try to help me figure out how to manage the hair. Please save your hard earned coins!!!! read more

I have used Brazilian body wave hair previously from Vanity Box and loved the texture and fullness of there hair. I recently purchased a bundle deal and my 18' hair was very tangled and had knots in the first week of installation. After the second week I washed and conditioned hair, thinking it would tame the tangles and knots but it only made it worse. I had to remove the 18' weave and have it replaced in just 2 weeks of purchase. We are told with good care of your Brazilian hair it could last up to a year or longer. This is an HONEST UNPAID review I'm just a normal person who bought the hair and it was horrible and I tried to put up a review on their Instagram but they took it down really quick so I think people deserve to know the truth about the hair since it's expensive! I bought 4 bundles of Peruvian body wave and it seemed okay at first but installed very thin and has a weird texture. It also wasn't anywhere near the length they claimed it was after straightening a bundle I didn't need because it was so short it was a full 3 inches shorter than it was supposed to be. The hair wasn't installed for more than 4 days before it started to feel really gross and after just 1 wash with an extremely expensive conditioner and hair mask for extra help it shed so much and feels disgusting and dead all the hair has split ends and doesn't hold the body wave at all even on day 2 my cousin and I noticed the curls were falling and looked more like hair that's been straightened for years (damaged and straight from the damage not like it was straight and someone curled it but they fell) I've had it in for a week and 2 days now and it's basically so bad that I'm gonna have to take it out soon when I've installed other hair and been able to re instal after months of use! This hair is trash it's awful I highly recommend no one purchase it they pay instagram girls to promote it but the hair is not good! Don't believe the hype! I was using another hair company faithfully before discovering The Vanity Box Hair. Now that I have, I won't be going anywhere else. I am now on my 4th install (with the same hair) and the hair has yet to lose its quality. I bleached it blond when I first got it and now I have it red. Still no tangling, shedding or lost of luster. The quality of the hair extensions is great. But the difficulty of dealing with this business requires a 2 star rating at most. The hair is expensive, but good quality. It doesn't shed, is very soft, styles well, lasts a long time, etc. If not for how frustrating this business is, I would continue buying from them. But the business itself is disastrous. The only reason I am giving 2 starts instead of 1 is because I was lucky and dealt with a very nice, patient employee during my last trip to the Brooklyn location. Other than that, it's been awful. During my first visit to the Brooklyn location a few months back the employees were rude and impatient. The store was sold out of most of its products and a lot of the deals advertised didn't apply to much of what they had in stock. I then tried to visit their new Harlem location a couple of weeks ago. I checked social media, their website, and called the store the day before to ensure they would be open and had what I wanted in stock. The employee told me I could come in the following day and they would almost certainly have what I needed. I then went to the store the next day (Sunday) only to see a sign posted on the door saying they were closed for the entire day due to a pre-scheduled team meeting. This was not posted anywhere on their website/social media, and the store employee didn't mention it when I had called. I e-mailed the company about this, but received no response. Frustrated, but still willing to buy from them, I planned to go again the following Sunday. I called the Harlem store many times to make sure they were open but got no response. I checked online and nothing indicated another store closure. Thankfully, though, I called the Brooklyn store before trekking to Harlem, and the store employee informed me that the Harlem location was closed again. She didn't know why it was closed. I find it very odd that their new Harlem location seems to randomly close on Sundays - the one day a week when students get a 10% discount. I decided to go to the Brooklyn store instead where I ended up having my only decent shopping experience at Vanity Box so far. The employee who was there that day was very patient and helpful. Even still, the company is not honest with their advertising. They promote a student discount but do not note that it isn't applicable to any of their bundle deals. Their website lists ombre coloring services for $0.00 (it looks like it's free with purchase) but in fact it's $45.00 and not regularly available in store. The website posts store hours, but the Harlem location seems to close frequently and randomly. When it was time to pay I asked if I could use the student discount instead of the bundle discount. The store employee told me the bundle discount was probably a better deal. I asked her to calculate both just to be sure, and the student discount was significantly cheaper. At the end of the day, their hair is good but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with this company. My advice - find somewhere else to shop. The frustration is just not worth it. read more

I'm so disappointed my first purchase from here was everything I had the hair for a whole year so I thought why not go back and purchase hair for my vacation BAD IDEA ....I got the hair installed on Thursday on Monday when I got back I LITERALLY THREW THE HAIR IN THE TRASH !! It had a very weird smell and the hair matted up so bad and the more I tried to detangle it the more it shed ...I purchased 4 bundles (the rapunzel) and a closure (I HAVE A BIG HEAD) WASTE OF MY MONEY!! WORST HAIR EVER! I bought two bundles of Malaysian Curly hair with a closure. The hair was nice and soft initially. I had it installed and was very pleased, and intended to return to buy more hair. I didn't dye the hair, nor did I straighten it and I used the recommended products. I usually buy my hair elsewhere, but decided to try Vanity Box because it was a little cheaper. The hair I usually buy would last a year, and it did not shed because I take care of it. The hair from Vanity Box, fell APART! The hair was SHEDDING SO MUCH! Then after about 3-4 weeks it became tangled, matted and dry. I was BEYOND DISAPPOINTED and I wasted my money. The hair was in for seven weeks until I returned to my regular store, bought new hair and PROMPTLY threw the hair from Vanity Box away! I called to express my disappointment. The receptionist was extremely nice. She asked if I did certain things to maintain the hair, and everything she recommended I did. She offered to give me a 10% discount on my next purchase, which did not work for me because I would never give Vanity Box my hard earned money again. Overall...I would not use there hair if it was given to me for free. read more

I recently purchased two bundles of Brazilian wavy and a full lace Brazilian closure from the vanity box during there pink Friday sale on November 29th so I could have my hair for the holiday season that was approaching . After purchasing the bundles I rinsed the bundles because there was quite a few gray hairs in the closure which I know can be normal some times when purchasing bundle. That following day I proceeded to make a full unit . I wore the unit for the first time and used a wide paddle brush to brush my hair. Immediately the hair started shedding profusely , this was odd to me cause I did not once cut the weft of the bundles when making the unit intentionally to avoid excessive shedding . So I left the unit to the side out of frustration . As the holiday season has approached I decided to give the unit another try being that I spent around $300 on these bundles . Again the hair began to tangle and Sheed but worse became matted . What made matters even worse is that the lace closure texture after drying became matted and tangled while the bundles were slightly tangled . Yesterday on Christmas I wore the unit and my closure went from Beyoncé to don king in a matter of two hours . I brushed my hair about 7 times during my family gathering and each time about 30-45 mins later it frizzed up . To make matters even worse I had just assumed that I may have gotten a faulty closure out of the bunch , as a business owner my self I do understand that when you order in bulk that some times there may be a faulty item or two out of the bunch so I gave the store a call to explain my dilemma hoping to come to a middle ground. Unfortunately they didn't even have the decency to offer me an exchange or even a discount on purchasing another closure that way to save face for there so called highly recommended product but continuously repeated that there was nothing they could do . I went here because I was desperate to get quality hair at a good price. It was my birthday coming up in a few days and my appointment was set, but I was still in search of hair. I read the reviews which there were few at the time but all were good (probably written by the staff). So I went to the location in Brooklyn on Broadway. The decor was modern yet tastefully tacky. Zebra print and pink for the hot mess in all of us. I was put off a little by the girl in the shop helping me because her hair was a mess. It was dyed blonde and matting a bit. That should have told me right there, but desperation and it being very last minute I went ahead anyway. I bought their bundle deal which at the time was 3 bundles 18,20,22, for 250. They didn't have straight so I went for the body wave. The guy and to the back wrapped it and came back so I didn't see. They gave a cake pop with the purchase. I was in a rush so I didn't check or anything until I got in the car to go to my next destination. One of the curl patterns was differing and It had a smell of ammonia and was a little greasy feeling but they told me to wash it before so I did. It still smelled bad and the greasyness seemed to be in the track. I installed it two days later and after one day at work, some sticks with friends and falling asleep on it the hair was disgusting. Tangling and matting and feeling nasty sticky and greasy. Weave is almost like a religion to me by now so I knew this was wrong. I called them and emailed and got slow responses and no type of effort towards rectifying the problem not replacing the hair. I took it out in 2 weeks. I usually wear a weave for 2 months so their product is totally inferior. Pay more get more. So now I only buy indique or true Indian hair. They both have locations in Brooklyn and I still have their bundles after dye bleach and two installs. With return policies that back up the product. I will NEVER give my money to the vanity box again. And you shouldn't EITHER! read more

Please do not spend your money on this hair. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of hair after having such high expectations. I am not sure how the Vanity Box has managed to open so many locations and have all of these endorsements when their hair is complete TRASH. I usually keep my sew ins for two to three months and I had to take my weave out in less than a month when I installed the Vanity Box hair. I purchased three bundles of the Brazilian curly and straightened the hair as soon as I installed it (wearing the Brazilian curly straight is probably the only way to manage this hair). It looked beautiful the first day, after three days I realized it was extremely dry no matter how much spritz or conditioner I used. I washed the hair and wore it curly for about two days and after the second day it was extremely matted and tangled. It looked like a bunch of dreadlocks had formed. I was forced to remove the hair and throw it out. About $300 wasted. This hair doesn't even deserve 1 star. I hope they go out of business soon and stop wasting people's hard earned money. read more

I hate this hair. Worse hair for price!! Your better off going to the beauty supply and purchasing cheap hair. When I first purchased my frontal from Vanity Box it was very nicely packaged (the packaging is probably what you pay for, not the hair ) and the hair was very soft, too soft in fact. I had to bleach the knots which involved washing etc. on the paper that was in the packaging says you don't need to co wash this hair which was kind of weird (just like beauty supply hair). After I applied the frontal the hair was very flat no body and stiff. It felt oily even after I washed the hair. After the first time wearing the hair it started fluffing up and looking nasty. Never again. I could have spent the same price and got hair from another good vender. I loved Yandy Smith hair and she was promoting it, which was the only reason I wanted to try it. I had hair better for cheaper than this with way better quality. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. Never again Vanity Box. You guys scammed me and I will never trust you again. Hair sucks!!!!!! Let alone customer service lady rushed me into making a decision and was not helpful at all smh. They are probably trained to rush the customer so they won't realize the hair is synthetic. Smh. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Only reason I gave it one star because of packaging. read more
