I love Room Salon. I used to come here all the time to get my hair trimmed and dyed by Takeo before I moved out of NYC. He never disappoint me by listening to my needs and being tentative and patient. I also love the simplistic atmosphere of the salon - Made me feel like I am getting my hair done in Japan :P read more

After a bad haircut elsewhere, I was really hesitant about cutting my hair for a while. Mika at Room Salon absolutely delivered. I showed her a pic of my old style, explained my hair goals and she listened carefully. She cleaned everything up, and added just the right amount of texture. I've been growing my hair out, and she worked with what I had to bring it back to shape. It feels lighter and I can definitely work with this style. read more

Great place! Limi always takes excellent care of me. It's small so it is sometimes hard to get an appointment but totally worth the wait :)

I've tried many salons in the area and this one was hands-down my favorite. I plan on coming back. I was very pleased with the quality of my haircut and with the extra care Kotaro took to ensure I had a good experience. A few things I liked about the experience: -He really listened to me and gave me an end result that is similar to the pictures I showed him - wavy, natural, adds volume -He checked-in often to see how I was doing -For my perm, I was nervous since it was my first time getting a perm but he explained everything to me and made sure we were aligned. He did an excellent job and I like how the technique he used was very polished - there was no mess or problems. I could tell he had done it many times before and I had confidence that the health of my hair was in good hands Anyway, this place is the best. They are experts and the price reflects their expertise and the high-quality of the work. read more

Good service. Had a perm and haircut here. Very friendly and nice space located in south Williamsburg

I just moved and was super nervous about switching hair stylists, as I've been going to the same stylist in Manhattan since I moved to NYC. I saw reviews for Room online and sent an email asking if someone would be able to help me get my desired look. I immediately got a response with all the information, personalized to what I was looking for and was scheduled for an appointment with Mayuu. Mayuu listened to everything I wanted and helped give me a breakdown of what she thought I needed. We went through pictures and decided on a style. I couldn't be happier with the color and will DEFINITELY be going back to her as long as I live in Williamsburg! Highly highly recommend. read more

Room Salon - Hair coloring by Mayuu - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I colored my hair about 2.5 months ago at a different salon and was not that thrilled with the results (I have Asian black hair and I wanted an ashy blond balayage but was left with some brassy orangey results on some parts of my hair). I decided to come to here to get this fixed. I spent about 15 minutes talking to Kotomi about what I wanted and looked through reference pictures. She was attentive, knowledgeable and explained what she would need to do to achieve the desired effect. Kotomi was very transparent about pricing as well. Turns out I needed two rounds of bleach to even out what was done to my hair before. The end result was just as I wanted from the picture I showed her. Highly recommended! read more

Had an amazing keratin treatment here! I originally came in thinking I wanted a Japanese straight perm but after consulting with Kotomi, I ended up getting a keratin treatment as it is less permanent and less damaging to the hair. My hair is soooo silky and smooth now. Kotomi was super friendly and also gave some great recommendations on how to maintain the glossiness of my hair and the treatment. Highly recommend this place! read more

Searching for a brand new hair salon is always super stressful but I'm soooo glad I found room salon! Kotomi did the fastest balayage I've ever received and did an amazing job. Before she started, she showed me the pricing list and exactly how much it would cost which I really appreciated. She was so gentle and explained every single step before she did it. My hair looks super light, bright and beautiful! Thank you Kotomi - I will definitely be back soon :) read more

Nana did such a phenomenal job with my hair! I wanted to transition from a medium dark brown hair to a lighter color but hesitated for the longest time. I'm glad I got it done as Nana took her time with every strand of hair & made sure not to leave it in a damaged state. She's a great conversationalist and made me feel welcomed during the entire visit. So happy about the outcome! Thanks Nana read more

Takeo is a genius. He understands hair so well, and understands exactly what his clients are asking for. I've been a client of his for the past 10 years, and every time I've come in he's given me exactly what I've asked for, while considering my hair texture, thickness, everything. I have thin, fine curly hair (all ringlets, no waves), which can be very difficult to cut and style. This last time I came in I asked for a cut that I could style both curly and straight. Not an easy feat! But Takeo delivered, giving me one of the best cuts I've ever had. Wearing it curly looks so cute, and wearing it straight looks more adult and polished. I've never had flexibility with a haircut like this before, most of the time it just looks "ok" one way or the other. And the price is unbeatable. I'd pay $200 for this cut gladly, but Takeo only charges $100. Can't recommend Room Salon and their wonderful work enough. read more

My experience at this place was great. Akira did dry cut. He is friendly and professional, he did exactly what I wished for. The price set little expensive overall but with the great experience, I do not have any complains. read more

I had an awesome experience with Akira! He was super detail-oriented and attentive to the example pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like. I also loved the dry cut experience, my hair air-dries beautifully now. read more

I cannot recommend Room Salon enough! I walk by sometimes and it's the cutest salon with a great vibe. After getting a bad dye job that left strands of green in my hair, i reached out to Room Salon and Mayuu was extremely responsive via email. I had to reschedule due to the snow once and she was completely understanding. She checked in before my appointment to make sure she knew the status of my hair. When i went in for my appointment, the salon was clean and Mayuu has tremendous experience and knowledge and fixed my hair to exactly what i wanted without having to redye and damage it more. I liked that she didn't push any additional services on me and it was a very accommodating appointment where she discussed all my options very thoroughly with me. I'm extremely happy and will be coming back - the pricing was competitive especially for Williamsburg. read more

I found out about Takeo Suzuki and Room Salon NY in the most random way ever - I was at my local Duane Reade, picking up my prescriptions, when I saw this female pharmacist's awesome, layered, flowy hair and complimented her. She then told me she got it cut by Takeo at Room Salon in Williamsburg and I was 100% sold! Takeo and Room Salon takes reservations only by email. I got 10% through a referral/friend discount - you also get 10% off your next visit if you refer someone. Takeo took his sweet time on my haircut and also took the time to listen to me explain my wants and my issues. He added some texture to a previously bad haircut and cut off all my dry ends without sacrificing all my hair. While I didn't cut too much off, I can definitely feel that my hair is lighter and has more "oomph". He cuts hair dry, unless you get the wash package with detox shampoo. His hair cutting technique is very unique - dry and not the usual cut straight across type of thing... I'm no barber so I can't really begin to explain it. I have extremely, extremely naturally straight hair and he even showed me how I can add volume using some styling products and a 1.5 barrel curling iron. He does lots of styling for magazines and various shoots and has even cut the DeBlasio family's hair! Also love the minimalist decor of the shop. Real Williamsburg-y. The price he charges ($65 for a dry cut) is quite fair, in my opinion, as he really cares about your hair and takes the time to get to know you and is a very sweet dude. read more

Room Salon - Awesome haircut by Takeo! - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Great value haircut considering prices in the area but this place smells terrible - maybe it was just the day.

Recently, I booked my appointment on Japanese Straight Perm Licio. My stylist was Kimi. She is sweet and tried to have a conversation with me. My experience here was good but could be a little more better. The only thing I wish it could have been better is when washing my hair. I like it, if Kimi could give me a little more massage/scratch on my scalp. But it was not bad. Another thing is my neck was a bit tiring because the seating was a bit too high for me, which makes it bit uncomfortable for me. Kimi tried her best to make sure I was comfortable while washing my hair. Love my results. Thank you to my hair stylist, Kimi. read more

This review is a little overdue-- my first experience with Room was a year ago, when I made an appointment to get a haircut and also update my digital perm, which had mostly grown out. Their appointment process is via email, and they are very quick to respond to inquiries. Mayuu made sure to honestly assess the condition of my hair (old bleach, other treatments, etc) before committing to the digital perm, which I really appreciated. She did both my cut and digital perm, which I was very happy with. Fast forward to last week, when my perm had grown out wonderfully. I was looking to keep as much of the perm in as possible while also layering my hair to take some of the weight out. I requested Mayuu again, and she again did a wonderful job! She took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for in my new cut so it's helpful to bring reference pictures saved onto a Pinterest board or something similar. Thanks again, Room! read more

went here for the first time today and loved it. limi cut my hair exactly as i described, and was very gentle with my head throughout the whole process (+ gave a nice head massage while washing my hair haha). the salon as a whole is welcoming and has a peaceful vibe with fun decor. will definitely return here for my next haircut! read more

I've been to Mayuu three times now - for a cut, a styling and highlights and every time it's the best haircut or blowout or highlights I've ever had. She did my highlights for my wedding and they came out exceptional! Everyone has been complimenting me. She's the first stylist to ever get the blonde color I've wanted and kept it looking so natural. I'm absolutely obsessed. read more

I've been going to ROOM for any salon service I need since 2016. I started going to Marine, who later moved out of the city. Since then, I've had both Mayuu and Nana color my hair and have had cuts by both of them + Takeo, all of whom are excellent at what they do. read more

Room Salon - Thank you Nana! - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

After reading reviews for this neighborhood salon I decided to give it a try. They request that you make appointments by emailing, so I sent an inquiry and someone responded in minutes. I was really pleased with the ease and ability to get in as a new client so quickly. When I arrived, I was greeted by my stylist Nana, and we talked about my hair and desired color and style. My hair color was in terrible condition after going somewhere very cheap for a blunt cut and highlights. Nana took time to talk with me about how I'd prefer the highlights to be natural looking and better blended rather than high contrast stripes. She made sure she understood me and then confirmed by showing me photos of what she would try to achieve. Then she verified the cost of the services by showing me the menu. I felt at ease knowing exactly what I was getting into. She started with highlights and took such care to blend and give me sufficient foils. I have a lot of hair and she really took the time to make it beautiful. I was so pleased with the results. Nana gave the same attention to my haircut. She texturized beautifully, taking out heavy weight from ends. My hair feels and looks so great! read more

Akira was an absolute dream at Room Salon. Super responsive when booking an appointment and assessing my hair, and thorough when I came in for my Japanese straightening appointment. I've had this done a few times now, and can say without a doubt he is a star at it. My hair is silky soft and poker straight; they're using the latest concoctions (so no need to keep your hair dry for 72 hours as I have had to in the past for the formula to work). Entire process was seamless, he was attentive and it took around 3 hours for medium length, quite thick hair. A bit cheaper than going into Manhattan too! Awesome salon; great music and vibe, will definitely return!! read more

I've come to this salon twice during covid and have had an especially great experience with Nana. I love the way she cuts & styles my hair and if you opt for the shampoo as well, she gives an amazing scalp massage! Also, it's clean, everyone wears masks & gloves and they have you sanitize your hands as you walk in. Overall, Room Salon is such a gem and I couldn't recommend it enough. read more

I have been going to Room Salon for quite some time now, it has such a great vibe and everyone working there is kind and attentive. The salon itself is gorgeous with an incredible anesthetic designed and curated by the owner. I recently started getting my highlights and cut done by Akira, who is beyond talented. I almost don't want to write this review in hopes of keeping him all to myself! Not only is Akira nice and easy to chat with, but he is amazing at blonde color. The first time I got full highlights with him they lasted 8 weeks which is incredibly impressive considering how light I go. If you are picky with your blonde, stop by and ask for Akira. You won't regret it! read more

I've been very happy with my haircuts and balayage coloring. I'm very picky with my stylist since I only get my hair done 2x a year. It's hard to find a good stylist i trust in Boston, so i'm glad I found a place I like even if it's in NYC. It's worth the hike! Takeo, the owner, is friendly, experienced, and good at what he does. I usually have an idea of what i want for the cut and color and Takeo is always ready to give useful suggestions. My last haircut and color from him was over 8 months since he was always booked when I'm in NYC, and but my hair surprisingly still kept it's shape and the color still looked good! I was very happy with my haircut/color this time around. The prices are up there like any other salon in NYC but it's well worth it. You get what you pay for! read more

I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Tomomi. She's amazing, patient and listens. I always leave very happy!

I have gotten a haircut here before that was beyond excellent! And recently I got a digital perm from Takeo. I am 100% Caucasian with medium-fine hair and have had mixed luck with digital perms before but the results were great. The whole process only took 2.5 hours which is pretty quick for a digi perm. When I left the salon Takeo had blow dried my hair and added a little styling product and I had a soft bouncy wavy at the bottom of my bob. After I washed my hair for the first time and air dried the wave really came out. My hair is still really soft and manageable as well, it doesn't feel damaged at all. read more

This review is for Tomomi ** I wish it was possible to give her a million more stars. I am one of those basic girls that has been going to the same hair stylist in NJ for my entire existence. I decided it was time to find a salon in Williamsburg because NJ is, like, ew. I did a TON of research. I made appointments at two other places and ended up cancelling when I came across ROOM on Yelp. Yesterday afternoon I emailed ROOM and Tomomi emailed me back within 5 minutes and said she was able to see me the same day. The salon is very minimal, clean and modern. They play great music and the ambiance was just perfect. I don't like getting my hair done because I HATE being overwhelmed by busy, obnoxious salons and clients. ROOM is the total opposite. I'm an extreme anxiety case and I honestly don't remember the last time I felt as relaxed as I did at ROOM. Tomomi was very sweet and spent a ton of time asking me questions to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted. I am a platinum blonde and I find that EVERYONE tries to talk me into doing double process or whatever when I don't need it. She did not try to talk me into anything. We decided to do a root touch up and run a purple shampoo through my hair to see if I needed anything additional. The amount of time she spent on painting every single hair on my head AND monitoring the dye to make sure it wasn't damaging my hair was seriously impressive. I've never had anyone be that attentive. AND she stayed after the salon closed to perfect my beach wave blowout. My hair came out WONDERFUL I could not be happier and this will definitely be my place from now on. If you are unsure about what salon to go to, especially if you are a blonde, this is the place for you. I promise you won't regret it. ILU TOMOMI!!! xx read more

I had several services with at least three or four ppl here. One time was with the owner Takeo. All the visit was pleasant and satisfying. Came here based on the yelp reviews and I am so glad I did!! Takeo is an artist. He took what is usually a triangular poof of one length mixed texture hair and gave me a super cute haircut that flatters my face and has lots of movement. I was nervous about getting a dry cut for the first time but I am completely converted! The dry cut was exactly what I needed. The best part is unlike other haircuts where after the first shower I spend weeks trying to make my hair do what it did when I walked out of the salon, my hair somehow always looks fantastic with little work. Definitely my new go to hair dresser!! read more

After moving to Brooklyn, I was desperate to find a good salon for blonde hair that provided the results and service worth the price (I've been getting full head highlights for 8+ years in Manhattan, and my hair is naturally a mousy blonde). Room Salon has made my blonde hair look the best it's ever looked. I can't even explain it, the highlighting technique they use never makes my hair look streaky/obviously bleached. The color is so seamlessly blended, it looks like my natural hair, and I never get a straight line of roots when my hair starts to grow out. While a visit may take several hours, it is beyond worth it once you see how meticulous and professional they are. I constantly receive compliments on my blonde color by women in stores and on the street! read more
