I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

I literally just got home from having my haircut and am officially writing my first yelp review ever because this place is amazing! A little high for my budget (poor college student/actress) but absolutely worth ever penny! This is my second time visiting Parlor. The first time I went was during one of their free hair days during the early summer, but this time was on my own. Not only were they quick to get me an appointment (I called yesterday night) but they also directed me to the best thing to happen to hair - Liz. She knew exactly what to do to fix my damaged and badly died hair (reason for my visit) and was not only amazing as a stylist but also as a person. She was super helpful in giving me hair and life advice and was just pleasant to be around, in fact so were the rest of the ladies that worked there.( If they offer tea, take it, its delicious and refreshing.) I also bought some of the Aveda hair products, like I said Im poor but honestly this product is so worth it AND they will help you there at the salon buy whats necessary for your style and type of hair, as well as giving you a list of the product used during your appointment. I honestly had the best time at this salon and my hair is so gorgeous, I will be budgeting Parlor into my next month of "money" because the experience and the results are both worth it!!! read more

This review is so long overdue. I've been a client at Parlor for as long as I can recall, 10 plus years. Actually, at their other location though: 102 Ave B in Manhattan (between 6th & 7th Streets). I have always left there with hair that feels and looks great, and I have never been dissatisfied or disappointed. I have a lot of grey growing in now and I've been doing some enhancements with high and low lights. It takes a real pro to be able to make this look beautiful and natural and to have it grow in gracefully without any apparent roots. Attention is paid to every detail from the initial consult until the finished look. The staff training is this salon's secret. The level of skill and service is second to none. Everything is always just right too-- the music especially, the staff-- so professional, thorough and friendly, the artwork and decor, the relaxed and light vibe, and...the Aveda scents. Never anything other than stellar! Bravo to Gwenn and her incredible staff! I have had cuts and color by many of the other stylists who also work at the Brooklyn location including Autumn, Fae, Vanessa--they are all fantastic! read more

I have curly/wavy hair and love a natural look. I stumbled upon the Aveda products and decided to try and look for a good Aveda salon. This one had intriguing reviews. When I called, the person on the phone listened to what I was looking for and booked me with Liz. When I walked into the salon it was all that everyone says. The atmosphere was peaceful and professional, but very warm. Someone greeted me immediately and offered me a place to sit, tea or water and I felt taken care of. My hair is very long and rather curly and thick. Liz was an angel. She listened carefully to what I wanted and was careful not to make any assumptions in length or style, yet she offered clear and practical advice on how I should care for my hair to keep it healthy and curly and growing. She was friendly and open, but sensitive at the same time. I will be going back. The salon itself is beautiful and a bit of an oasis in the long hair world. (although they do everything, not just long hair) No hype, no attitude, just professionals who know and enjoy their craft. I am glad Parlor is in Brooklyn! read more

Had my first appointment at the Parlor (in Brooklyn on Atlantic Ave.)during this Covid pandemic. Their Covid policy is very thorough! The Health Survey is sent electronically via text 24 hrs. before service, temperature check, and handwashing immediately when you enter the salon and before service. and Their staff have Covid testing on a regular basis! (weekly/bi-weekly I believe). They were cognizant of everyone's safety and health. The service was stellar as usual. I had a Pramāsana™ Scalp Treatment, which was glorious!!! A good 20-30 minutes of luxury (scalp massage and treatment) and a cut and style. I have a lot of fine, stick-straight hair, so when it grows out, it becomes very heavy at the crown! Sarah did an awesome job on my blended layers and face-framing. It is so much easier to wear and maintain a great cut!!! Thank you so much! Love the Aveda Products as well! read more

My first haircut in New York was at Parlor, in 1997, at their first East Village location. It is now somehow 2021, and I am still getting my haircut at Parlor. That might tell you everything you need to know about how wonderful this salon and its stylists are. (Especially Melisa, who currently cuts my hair--even when the cut's growing out, and I'm overdue for a visit, her work still gets me compliments. She's a geeeeeeenius. And the greatest company.) Their COVID precautions are beyond impressive, and the care they've taken to organize this response, to keep it going with unflagging commitment, and to communicate with their customers about it has only made me more loyal. It's a peerless oasis of professionalism and warmth! read more

Parlor is a lovely place - you're welcomed & made comfortable as soon as you walk in. Best part, of course, is the service you receive. In my case I went for a haircut. Hair was extremely long (donating to Locks of Love) & Liz Martinelli was very careful in braiding & cutting hair to meet standards of Locks of Love. She also paid attention to my desire to have a haircut that is easy to maintain & is modern for a middle-aged woman. Olga is amazing! She is a magician with hair and I always get many compliments on my hair when she…read moredoes it. She works wonders with balayage and knows how I like my hair cut. Thank you Olga and keep up the amazing work! Highly recommended:)

Came here for a haircut on a Saturday morning. Was pretty happy with the haircut by Olga. She took…read morethe time to recommend a style for my hair. Additionally she ensured I was comfortable with that length prior going for the chop. Olga was also very personable and friendly. When I paid for the check I was a tad surprised it cost more than what I thought I signed up for - a cut for $30. Unfortunately when I was asked if I wanted to be shown what my hair was going to be like with a blow dry, i signed up for another $22 if service. It was not made clear at the time that it was going to cost extra. Would definitely come back here again but will be asking what the extras are prior to agreeing. Shampoo, cut and dry was $53 plus tip.
