I went for full bangs (ah!), and she made it feel totally manageable by showing me how to style them with easy tips to make sure I could do it on my own. I did not enjoy my service here. While everyone was very nice, my original appointment was pushed back half an hour with less than an hour notice (I was already on my way when I got a text about this). I then ended up waiting longer, so my appointment didn't start until 45 minutes after my original time. Due to this, it seemed like my service was very rushed and I was unhappy with how the cut came out. I had to go back in the following week to have it touched up. Also, the salon bathroom smelled awful and the salon gets incredibly smoky and hazy. While this place wasn't for me, it seems a lot of people like it, so maybe it's all dependent on the stylist read more

Really disappointing first experience here. I booked a color appointment a month in advance with a senior stylist to get a time after 5pm, only to have it randomly canceled via text by the stylist two days before. There was no apology or effort to find a time that worked for me to reschedule. I also emailed the salon to make them aware of the situation and to get help rescheduling, but never received a response. At this point, I won't be trying to make another appointment here. read more

I came in for what was supposed to be a trim to keep my hair healthy and walked out with broken and damaged hair. I have very fine and thin hair which I made sure to point out to the stylist - after my cut she put rollers into my hair which got stuck and she literally had to rip them out of my head - she was sooooo rough with my delicate hair I have NEVER experienced styling like this. When I walked out of the appointment I had a new fuzzy halo of broken hair all around my head and am discovering more places where it is broken off every day. When I emailed the salon to address this with them directly they offered me a $50 credit for next time I came back and said that they know that "noticing changes after a haircut can be frustrating"... as if I would ever go back. read more

Shout out to Ally! I had went full platinum blonde/teal/pink 5 years ago and am understandably hesitant to dye my hair blonde again due to fear of breakage and uneven lifting. After a few years of playing with the idea of a full-head balayage with money pieces framing the face, I finally pulled the trigger and Ally Mammana made my inspiration a reality. Ally is transparent and mindfully walks me through her thought process on each step. She is in tune with her clients and makes sure to ask you what you want, manages your expectations and gets you as close to what you are aiming for or better. It felt like just chatting with a friend. She made the 4-hour process an absolute breeze (granted I mostly sat there). She was able to get me balayage-blonde while maintaining my hair's integrity, and even suggested adding a brown at my roots to help blend it better. I absolutely loved my experience here with Ally! I needed a refresh on my cut/color and she absolutely killed it. I naturally have very dark hair but have spent the last couple of years fronting as a balayage blonde. My color had gotten VERY brassy and had lost some of the great dimension that a previous stylist had built up. Ally brought all of that back and then some! She also did a great fix on a shag that had gotten a little TOO shaggy and we're on our way to building back some of the volume I've been missing with all of the choppy layers. This was my first and definitely without a doubt my last visit to this salon. It was a hot day and they do provide you with refreshment la croix upon checking in which was great. I had to wait an extra 30 plus minutes while the hair stylist finished her prior client (even when this client finished the client went onto jibber jabber eating into my time). I had booked a Natural and Olaplex which was supposed to create an all over natural color I was quickly dismissed by the stylist who stated that my expectation and what I ordered could not be done today. She then proceeded to look at her phone. I didn't care for her attitude especially since another client's appointment went into my time and the stylist didn't care to give me a good first impression. Plus, I had a date the next date. All she would do is tone, olaplex and blowout. Honestly, I knew she was lying about it taking a few sessions to achieve my expectation bc if you go to the Greenpoint salons (which I should have stuck with) I would have walked out with what I requested the same day. read more

Received a full balayage from Ally last week at the open and airy Williamsburg location, and I couldn't be happier. The check-in: After checking in on the tablet, Ally greeted me and did a consult about what I was looking for. I generally said, "lighter" and then looked for a reference photo, which ended up being much more helpful. Ally reconfirmed how she interpreted what I was looking for and we aligned on what to expect. The service: Ally was so kind and helpful- offered water/coffee and was with me every step of the way from consult to wash and styling. The space: So bright, clean and airy enough that there's a beautiful live tree in the middle of the space! Magical. The end result: I couldn't be happier about the multidimensional, lower maintenance and overall lighter color! There was even another client in the salon who immediately gave me a compliment while Ally was blow drying my hair. I went in for a quick appointment on a Sunday - the toning treatment I received was what I expected but what I was not expecting was to pay $180 to have my hair cut crooked. My stylist was not personable - she had an assistant wash my hair which I've never experienced, especially for such a short appointment, and considering the fact that she wasn't tending to other clients. I had to coach my stylist to cut my bangs straight, and when I left the salon and took a better look at the cut I received I immediately noticed the there were other parts of my cut that were uneven. When I'm paying close to 200 dollars for a haircut i shouldn't be afraid that I might walk out of the salon with my hair looking lopsided. I'll definitely won't be returning to this salon anytime soon. read more
