I got a wash (brought my own products) used their deep conditioner, brought my own leave in conditioner, twisted my hair myself (lady didn't know how to) and sat under the dryer for 20 mins and was charged $42. My hair was not roller set nor blow dried. Posted prices aren't accurate, was told that was there from when they opened. Magda the owner is very skilled including all the wonderful ladies who work well as a team. The ladies are very knowledgeable about different products and hair techniques. Their products are top of the line but at times I like to bring my own for a change. My girls are Nelsa, Morena, Ysmerly, andAngela. This lady completely ruined my hair. I am 100% natural, went into the salon to get a wash and blow out which I've done a few times before. She put some sort of chemical like relaxer on my hair and claimed it was a deep condition. 2 weeks later when I washed my hair it was falling out, instead of returning to its natural state (curly) my hair was bone straight, tangling and falling to the floor. DO NOT get your hair done at this salon. I was completely devastated and in disbelief. Because of this woman my hair is now breaking off. This was completely deceiving. Unfortunately. I had to stop going to this salon as my natural hair suffered tremendously. My hair started breaking, very dry and really the service went down hill whenever the amount of clients to serve increased. I personally believe that the last time I went, the person who did my hair had a very poor attitude so when I tried to reiterate that I wanted a semi permanent hair dye, she actually mixed up something else because she was too much giving me the stink eye while Magda was laughing and joking with some man that came into the salon. As a natural that had shoulder length hair to now a mini Afro, I really only have myself to blame. When she had me sitting there with hair dye in my head for an hour while she did a relaxer on another woman hair, I should have rinsed out the dye myself and walked out the shop. Instead, I stuck around and Magda fried the rest of my hair with that blow dryer from hell to cap it all off. Naturals, be especially careful of this salon. They don't care about the health of hair. Relaxed ladies, a relaxer shouldn't sit in the hair for 40 minutes like I witnessed with one shop patron. Be very weary.... read more

When it comes to hair each individual knows what they are doing but if you're natural or transitioning this isn't the place for you. I went in on a pretty empty day and the environment wasn't welcoming at all. I'm transitioning or was transitioning from relaxed hair and i have naturally thick hair as is. I was under the assumption that they could handle all types of African American hair but boy was i wrong. They young lady doing my hair sneakily snuck in a mild texturizer/relaxer. I knew this because of that familiar rotten egg smell. While she was doing my hair she was also making faces as if it was unmanageable although she did put in some relaxer. Next time I'll just stay home and put in the work on my own hair and stick to what I know. Other than that if you are relaxed or if you have thinner more manageable hair you'll love it here! read more

I was excited to come in because of the pictures I saw on yelp of black women. For those who don't know- finding a hair salon that can take care of natural hair is a struggle. So I thought I'd give it a shot for an event I had to attend. My hair was washed, blow dried, trimmed, and curled. I didn't mind any of the techniques that were being used but I did question the products that were put on my hair. It didn't seem like there was an emphasis on protection with all the heat that was going into my hair. Sure enough, a week later, when I tried to reverse my hair I discovered heat damage all over and my hair smelled burnt for a month plus. Now I have to trim my hair again despite just having it done last month. Heat damage ruined the entirety of some my strands not just the ends so that sucks. The service wasn't bad at all, Nelsa was very friendly and the salon looks very professional. However, if you're looking for authentic natural hair care, I don't think this is the place for that in terms of deep conditioning and heat protectant. Also the curls unraveled as soon as I stepped out of the salon so it felt like a waste. read more

Great service and good prices! The staff were friendly and tried to get people in and out although it was packed. I loved how the regular customers appeared as family to the salon as they greeted the hairstylist. Everyone was nice including the customers, friendly atmosphere. Salon itself was lovely nicely decorated and clean including the restroom. Hairstylist made good suggests to help my hair! I got a deep conditioner and wash and set and it was only $35 how awesome! I enjoyed my experience, but thought the stylist put wayyyyy to much heat on my hair. My hair is not course or too thick, but she ran the blow dryer on each piece multiple times that my hair looked really thin and unhealthy once done. By the 3rd day it was totally flat and looked stringy. Maybe it was just the stylist who styled my hair. Overall a good place just too much heat for me! read more

I came here for sew in track extensions and my god , MAGDA IS AMAZING. I have never seen such perfection in my life. Her braids were perfect and nice and tight how I like them. The price per track is only $20 for high quality work. My hair came out looking flawless (Her blowout skills are also amazing). I decided to check this place out after reading a bunch of reviews on yelp. When I arrived, I was greeted, asked to sign in and immediately put in a chair. There was only me and another woman there so I expected quick service. The person who did my hair did an excellent job of washing my hair. I just took out my twists and she gave me the best scrubbing ever. She even used a comb to really clean my scalp. After roller setting my hair, she blow dried it, then trimmed my ends. I'm always scared of getting my ends trimmed by Dominicans but she actually did a good job. I am extremely satisfied with the service at this salon. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because the credit card machine wasn't working. But I will definetly be back with cash next time. read more

I usually go to the Dominican house of beauty which is further away from my house but I noticed their beauticians are not exactly the nicest. My hair is fully natural and I needed a change. As soon as I walked in the salon I felt a very professional yet fun vibe. The music was so good I didn't even have to put my headphones on and zone out like I usually do in hair salons. I spoke with a beautician and expressed to her what I wanted and she completely understood. I chose to do a wash, deep condition, color and style. Everything came out so nice I loved the color and she really put her time and heart into it. She even showed me styles that would look good on me. I've been coming to this salon since it opened. At the time my hair was relaxed and I always had a pleasant experience with the staff. My hair started to become thin and eventually I decided to cut my hair off and go natural again. After about a year of growth I decided to straighten my hair and go back to the salon I had always loved. I thought the ladies would take great care of my hair and being a long time customer, I thought I would feel right at home. I experienced the complete opposite. The ladies went on a full blown conversation about my "ugly hair" and stated that I had "bad" hair numerous times, not knowing that I understand Spanish. I felt like I was being ridiculed for wearing my natural texture. I requested the salon owner Magda to do my hair after hearing the comments, thinking my hair would be in better hands. She was always glad to do my hair back when I was relaxed. But then Magda, left me sitting in her chair while she walked around and conversed with other clients, telling her other worker that one must have patience. Then she began blow drying my hair without applying any leave-in conditioner or heat protectant. When my hair began to look straight, she began boasted with another worker on how well her hair straightening skills are. Flat-ironed my hair, again with no heat protectant. The experience was so bad if I wasn't getting ready for an event and was pressed on time, I would've gotten up and left. Worst experience I've ever had in a salon. If you're relaxed or have straight hair; this may be the salon for you. But for those with curly, kinky, highly textured hair, stay far away from this establishment with your "pelo malo," as they say. I've recommended this salon to numerous people who were relaxed throughout the years, but after this experience I would never recommend this salon to anyone, especially someone who is natural. read more

I came in for a blow out and trim and they gave me a hard time because they wanted to wash my hair. I already washed my hair and it was already dried.im guessing they didn't know I was spanish, because she started talking about me and said this black girl..meanwhile I'm light skin. Anyways as I'm in the chair getting my hair done she continued to talk to the stylists next to her about everybody who walked in the shop down to the kids. By the sounds of things it seems like this is an everyday thing for them. I mean like these are the people who help your business thrive, shouldn't you be more welcoming?
