Owner is so, so, rude and lacks basic customer service and transparency skills. The employees do not seem sure of what they are doing regarding differences in shipping or handling of packages. No one greets you upon entrance. The owner made no effort to help or explain to either me or his employee and wouldn't even stop to explain, speaking in passing to his employee as if I was not there. UPS is a chain, go to literally any other one for an experience with any semblance of customer service or transparency in why rates suddenly jump from a quote of $58 to $138 other than "it's a return label" which was what it was when I was quoted $58. I never really visited the UPS store in Downey until I started doing Amazon returns here. They're super efficient here, very friendly, polite and professional. I walk in and I'm greeted every single time and I never have to wait! They always have a team working quickly. I've never really looked around, but it looks like there's all kinds of supplies here. They also accept other returns from stores and businesses. I don't know why they don't have higher ratings, but I've never had an issue here! The only issues I've had are completely out of this store's control. Sometimes there are people outside asking for money or people in an altered state hanging out outside. It doesn't always feel comfortable or safe but again, it's out of their control! The parking is so so. There's a busy Chipotle and Panda Express so the parking lot is a little chaotic to navigate. Hopefully in the future UPS will upgrade to a large store elsewhere in Downey with better parking! One can hope. read more

Notary service was available on site with no appointment. Cashier let me know I did not need to pay more for any upgraded higher cost level of shipping to get proof of delivery. I've been charged for two years for returns from Amazon on a 30 day free return purchase. Today I confirmed once more with amazon and I've finally got my email scan for no return fee. Amazon states with no receipt I can't help you. But Amazon sent me there to drop off a return. The receipt I get printed out from ups is a "tracking* receipt with no charges stated but weight ID. Millions of us have returned item how many have noticed this hidden fee???...but I paid cashed so everything was money in there pocket. Is there anyone else whos been charged for this? Scammers in ups as well. But they will change their name and then do another business. Ups is been up for years..... multi million dollar companies fucking ppl by taking little by little... Had to return an Amazon package. Siri said this was the nearest UPS store. Walked in. Was greeted right away. All staff wearing masks. Scanned my label. Asked me if I wanted a receipt. Said yes. He said he would tape up the box for me. A few hours later got a notification that I received my refund. Nice! Easy peasy. Great service. Parking sucks. Reduced spaces. I had went in today about 1:30pm to drop off my return for Nike. I was expecting it to be super busy thankfully as soon as I walked in I was able to walk right up to the cashier right away. I wish he had a name badge on because he was so friendly and had me in and out within a couple minutes. This used to be my go-to drop off location. Now it seems they're desperate to make a dollar and some change off Amazon customers. They literally refuse to accept the return unless you pay Them to repackage the item. I walked in yesterday with an Amazon return and I hadn't noticed it said "Customer Packed or packaged" below the QR code, nothing new here. Since I ship regularly I had slightly oversized shipping bags in my car so I cut one to size, wrapped the item and taped it securely. This was not acceptable to the children working at this location. They demanded they repackage the item otherwise they would reject my Amazon return. I paid the $1.87 because I was far from the next closest UPS store. I'll go somewhere else from now on and you should too. It's not about the amount they charge to repackage, it's the lack of integrity to serve your community not price gouging the customers of a contracted company you fulfill orders for. read more

They always seek to acknowledge you when you walk through the door, they try to do that even if there are other customers there, the free guy will wave you over and help you and get you out of there fast as possible. I dropped off a grow light about 5 days ago, turns out my buyer received the product today and notified me that the cord was pulled out and the plastic was broken blaming me for these things. When I dropped off my light it was in mint condition, no broken cord no broken plastic. This just upsets me because now I look like a liar for selling a broken product and this will affect purchases from future buyers. They try to screw you here. I brought a box in and they tried to charge me to repackage it. The manager came over and told the employee who was helping me that he had measured my box incorrectly and needed to charge me for a larger box. It made no sense. But I got distracted with the sports key chains & house key available. They also do it there for you. Not expensive. I was happy with it. They also do Notary. Not sure if they didn't have their coffee this morning or what. But out of the 3 employees there this morning, only one was nice. Employee number 159753 was rude. I forgot to tape my package so I asked if he could. He said he has to help the other two customers behind me ( there were two other employees standing behind him so why not just have one of them help me). I walked out but then walked back in because I just didn't like that. My package was sitting on the counter and it had not been taped even though the other employee was taping other packages and sat another package on top he had just taped. So I asked if I could see my package be taped ( I want to make sure the company receives my order return and give me my money back). He said that it had to go to an actual post office, but the thing is, I take my prepaid packages to the ups store all the time and they usually accept it. I've had 2 Amazon returns that had to be made here and both times was specially told by Amazon that a box was not needed. Now the first return was a large package so I purchased a box giving the store the benefit of the doubt even though Amazon did state a box was not needed. The second time I had a return here on a separate day I was again told a box was needed. Now this item was not large so I rejected their claim knowing they were just trying to get me to purchase one of their boxes. Avoid this store's scammy business practices. read more

Been dropping packages here for a month now and they refuse to weigh the boxes. I drop off anywhere from 3-10 boxes and they place one box on the scale and scan the rest. UPS is supposed to weigh each package to make sure the correct weight was entered and for customers receipt should they be overcharged down the line. When i told them i need individual weights for the boxes, they stated they don't do that at THIS location and to go somewhere else. Employees (more than 1, it was 4) actually got into an argument with me stating that even if they weigh it, it holds no value. Not to mention this location is small, you can barely walk inside with your packages & be comfortable. The workers don't look like they want to work there, and offer no help when they see someone trying to carry in 10 boxes by themselves. When you drop off returns, they also take longer to process (example amazon, you drop it off, but it doesn't register that you did til hours later). I'd avoid this location if you can, there's another location in Lakewood that's more friendly and helpful. Although this one is down the street from my house, I'll make the drive. Oh yeah, and parking SUCKS. It's across the street from a high school so if you're dropping off around 2-3PM, there is TONS of traffic inside the small parking lot you can't park, can't leave, or move for over 10 minutes. read more

I went in a few days ago to send out a package and I've been to this location many times before for my returns and have NEVER had an issue with anything , or anyone, the staff is always helpful and courteous and I'm in and out. However this last visit on Monday, I went in and dealt with "Eric" who had the worst demeanor from the beginning and you could tell he wasn't going to lift a finger to actually help me. He walked away while I was asking him a question and went to help someone else which was fine but he did it multiple times and never came back to finish helping me, honestly we just plain rude and lazy!!!
