I had a really disappointing experience at Southgate Pack N Ship. Before I came in, I spoke with the Cesar over the phone and explained that I had 190 Forever stamps I was looking to sell. I told him the price I was hoping to get, and he told me to come in because they would buy them. When I arrived at the time he told me to come, he wasn't there, so I had to leave and come back later. When I returned, I waited for him to finish a conference before showing him the stamps. Almost immediately when inspecting the stamps, he asked if I had been kicked off Amazon, which caught me off guard. Throughout the interaction, he repeatedly laughed at me and at the price I had originally mentioned over the phone. He said he could get stamps for $10 a sheet at the post office, and each time I tried to explain my reasoning, he would laugh, walk away, and then come back to continue the conversation in the same way. He even started speaking in Spanish to customers in the store about me. The entire interaction made me feel uncomfortable and belittled. At one point I explained that I was simply trying to sell the stamps so I could go home and visit my dad. His response was, "Oh, to Minnesota, huh?" I also explained that the price I had mentioned was simply my asking price as a reseller, and that I understood a buyer's offer would naturally be different. When he finally made an offer, I politely asked if there was any flexibility. Before I could even finish, he interrupted me and said, "Actually, I wasn't going to offer anything." After I accepted the offer and was paid, I decided to buy a couple sheets of stamps. As I handed over the cash he had just given me moments earlier, he told his employee, "Make sure to check for counterfeit." That comment was especially uncomfortable because I was using the exact cash he had just handed me. I completely understand that businesses are free to make whatever offer they think is fair, and I have no issue negotiating or even walking away if we can't agree on a price. What bothered me wasn't the offer--it was the way I was treated throughout the interaction. I expected a professional conversation, not to be laughed at, interrupted, or made to feel embarrassed. He asked me to open and power on my machine so he could make sure it wouldn't cost him anything. I found that very disappointing and asked him if that's how he usually treats customers. The second time, I came in to ship an electronic device via priority mail and asked for a box. After some back and forth about which box to use, they asked for my ID. I asked why, since I've always used my phone number before. I was told it was a new policy. I asked where that policy was written. After handing over my license, I was told my name didn't match because it included a middle name. I said I didn't want to use the middle name, but was told it was required. At that point, I was very frustrated and left. I don't know if they're overly cautious about electronics or profiling people--but either way, it's disappointing. read more

Originally just came in to pick up an Amazon purchase since it was the closest location that wasn't a big retail shop to have Amazon drop off. But truly found a GEM in the city of South Gate. They had soooo many selections. Whether is boxes, shipping supplies, printing shop..etc. truly a one stop shop. The employees were very knowledgeable on what they offer and were always willing to help. Value was definitely great compared to big brand stores. Sent a box with fragile ceramics to Oaxaca Mexico and they made it there in less than a month and in tact. I didn't take any packaging and I regret that because this location is real laidback about that. It's the senders responsibility. Personally, I enjoy packing. But the attendant set me up with good wrapping paper and double boxing. My items arrived in tact! I appreciate them big time. I was able to get it sent to location. That is so much nicer than the cheaper places that send it to a general location for pick up - because that's how boxes end up getting opened. This package arrived fine, even after passing customs. Called yesterday asking about notary public person said yes and that the place closed at 7 and I can bring the documents . Come over the next day with my papers , one male employee said " we don't do notary here" then another guy that worked there said "we do but they aren't here " like really ? Went here a few months ago for passport photos for my children. The wait is always long at this place, but it's expected as they offer many services. Went to get my kids passports today and the photos were no good. Both photos have a shadow and the background is not white as required. Waisted my money and time. I had to go to cvs and they have a guarantee to meet the requirements or your money back, plus it is cheaper as well with fast service .
