Easy peasy. Needed to shred an abundance of household paperwork and found that this place was close enough to me to check out. Drove to the facility which is in an industrial section --but was easy to find. Parking is right in front of the main building entrance. You check in with staff in the little trailer on the left and they count your load. They give you instructions and direct you to the payment window in the main building. You can pay with credit, debit, cash. Fill out a quick form and pay. The current rate is $5 box of documents/paperwork. Not sure if there are different rates for different types of material ie: hard drives, DVDs, CDs, etc. Once you pay, you are walked back out and you place your items in a locked bin. That's it. It took all of 5 minutes. The staff was very helpful and friendly. After finding this place there is no need to ever be buried in excess paperwork around the house. Ok, so this review goes into the category of my spring cleaning section. I recently cleaned about 10 years worth of outdated and useless paperwork. Needless to say, this was a big job as there was SO MUCH paper that needed to be thrown out. Unfortunately, some of them had sensitive information on it and these needed to be shredded. So began my quest for low-cost shredding services. WOW, I never realized this would be such an expensive proposition. Some places charged $15 per box for on-site shredding. I figured with about 30 bankers boxes, that would leave me in the poor house. With my sharp internet research skillz, I found Safe-Shred in Commerce. They pick up for a fee but I opted to drop them off for free. The catch is that: they accept only 5 boxes a day for FREE. All paper is shredded and customers are sent a FREE certificate of destruction. Although I could have donned 6 different disguises and killed it in a day, I, instead, made 6-7 trips over the course of a couple of months. TERRIBLE customer service. I wouldn't recommend them to shred confetti. First, I call them for information and a quote, telling them that I'm driving from far away; yet no one bothered telling me that they close earlier (3:30pm) than their website lists (4:30). No one also bothered telling me that they only accept cash, for individual shreddings. Experienced a complete lack of empathy on their part, total waste of time on my part. Lastly, there's two parking lots, side by side. Had to figure out that the left lot was for walk-ins (no signage, and I was ignored by the employees walking around in the parking lot). Keep that in mind if you go-- which I recommend that you don't. Spend your cash elsewhere. I've generally stuck to posting positive reviews here, but this company deserves to be put on blast: what a horrid way of handling someone who just wants to BRING THEM MONEY! read more

Not the most secure shredding place I've ever been to. Dropped off a couple boxes worth of stuff, was charged $3/box. Then they unlocked a padlocked dumpster, put my papers in and that was it. Seems like anyone could open the dumpster and get at your documents if they really wanted to. I also noticed some large stacks of shredded paper tied in bundles, the strips were pretty large and intact. Probably wouldn't use this service again. read more

A business that has been a lifesaver for me! and they have FRIDAY FREEBIE!! I came across Safeshred at a time of crisis almost a year ago. I was informed by a medical facility I had attended for Dialysis Treatments for about a year in Nov 2013 that due to a "Data Breach" my medical, financial information ( including my social security number and banking info) had been compromised due to the negligence of an employee, along with 325 other patients. I have been in the business of Healthcare for over 25 yrs and know the importance of properly securing patient's health information and patients Personal Information (PHI, PPI). I implemented a program across the Health System, and trained my 200+ staff on proper handling of PHI and PPI information. At home I did the same with my personal shredder and my own data. Little did I know that despite all precautions, I would become a victim of Identity Theft. It was not until June on 2014, when I received a letter from the IRS inquiring about the 1040EZ (which I have never been able to file), that it was determined my SS# had been used to commit a federal crime. Now after hundreds of hours, Thousands of Dollars, A 200 POINT DROP IN MY CREDIT SCORE!! did I realize that the "1 yr free Credit Monitoring" I received due to the Data Breach was nothing even close to what I would need to gather all the information, police reports, file affidavits etc... to fight the thousands of Collection Calls, numerous medical bills from NY to OK from collection agencies and medical services I never received. Fortunately the State of California have been progressive in legislation to assist and protect Victims if ID Theft, but the Education and Resources that help assist the victim in recovering from this invasive crime is still lacking. However, Safeshred is doing an incredible community service by educating the public about protecting your confidential information. They also back up the talk with the walk by holding Free drop-off Friday's once a month, where the public can drop off up to 3 small boxes of paperwork to be disposed of for free AND you get a Certification insuring that your data had been disposed of properly!! YOU CANNOT BET THAT, as for the cost for additional items to be disposed of, they are very reasonable, but you cannot put a price on the PEACE OF MIND you have when you know that you are doing your part to help protect yourself and your family from the nightmare of being the victim of ID Theft and mental, physical and psychological toll you pay when you reaching for guidance or a lifeline to be rescued and recover from this crime. Safeshred was there when I needed guidance and because I am now hypersensitive to insuring nothing of a personal nature goes out with the trash. Safeshred gives me a sense of security that I will not be the cause of this crime happening to my family ever again! The shredding service is fine, I don't have a problem with that. However when I called with questions about my service, I spoke with Elaine. Instead of answering my questions in a professional manner, she was very snappy and hung up on me in the middle of another question. It was one of the RUDEST experiences I can recall. Just dropped off a large bag of bills, files, etc. and a printer that no longer works. They measure by the "box" which since I had a bag I still don't know exactly what that means (large? medium? Etc). But a box is $3 and every electronic is $5. It's a great deal to safely shred your important documents. read more

We had accumulated five boxes of tax and financial records. Read the reviews on SafeShred. Looked at traffic on Google Maps. Decided the City of Commerce would not be a bad drive. And it wasn't. This is a very large paper recycling business that also shreds documents. Despite the size of the operation and the smallness of our request, they welcomed us warmly and a lovely lady in spike heels even helped unload our boxes. They no longer do up to five boxes for free, but $3 per box is a real bargain. And they provide a certificate of destruction. Highly recommended. read more

This place and the people who work here are really great. They are easy going professionals that make doing business with them a pleasure. If you want to actually watch something being shredded they can arrange that but you must make an appointment which is no big deal. Their prices are very reasonable and I feel very safe about the shredding they do. If you need to shred in a high or low volume they can do the job for you.
