Best nearby sit-down restaurant to enjoy food in the Damonte ranch neighborhood on spur of the moment. My daughter's go-to is their fish and chips. My hubby's favorite is still the porcini mushroom ravioli and they both loved the last couple of soups they offered with their entrees. So tasty we ordered some to take home lol. I found a new favorite, pesto salmon with broccolini and risotto. Very filling and perfectly balanced in taste! Plus I indulged in a cocktail and really was surprised by their Capricorn drink. It tastes like apple pie in a drink. Their service in both the walk-in bar seating and main dining area is spot on! Always checking on us, refilling drinks, and clearing dishes right away. What could have been a great experience turned into a frustrating one and I will not be back. My friend and I got seated on a Friday night with no wait for outside tables. We sat down and ordered some drinks and placed orders for Burrata and our entrees (I got the Ahi Tuna and my friend got the Chicken Parmesan). Each entree comes with a soup or a salad (house salad, caesar salad, or the soup of the day was clam chowder). The food was good but overpriced for what you get. The restaurant also doesn't provide the ambiance that would excuse a price that high for an entree. About 10 minutes after my drink arrived, a bug landed in it. I asked the staff if I could get a new drink because of the bug. I was told they would not replace the drink for free and they would charge me for another because "that's the risk I take with sitting outside." I understand the point, but I find that so unaccommodating and rude the way it was approached. The waitress felt bad and I could tell she was embarrassed to have to charge me for another drink. I opted not to get another and ended up being charged full price for my drink. To the restaurant manager who is 'stepping over dollars to pick up pennies' - what you don't understand is that your poor service cost your restaurant a return customer in both me and my friend, and I will not recommend your place of business to anyone. The experience was awkward and rude. You cost me $10 but you just lost hundreds in future business (especially considering this one visit was $111 for two people, not including tip). The waitress was very nice and I appreciated her attentiveness. She was kind and brought my friend a birthday dessert which was thoughtful. It's funny the restaurant will bring a complimentary birthday dessert but will make a stink about replacing a $10 drink. I can't support a restaurant that penny pinches and over charges for their meals. It sure is "twisted." read more

My son and I went here for lunch today and they did not disappoint. The coolest thing about Twisted Fork is that they change their menu seasonally so it's never the same tired old thing. I got the Cauliflower Karaage without the aioli to keep it vegan, and it was phenomenal. Their Japanese bbq dipping sauce was crazy yummy, I actually got an extra side to go with my left overs. My son devoured this appetizer with me, which is always a good sign when my carnivore child loves a vegan item. My son got the Brie and Caramelized Onion turkey burger, but he subbed in a real beef patty. His burger came out a perfect medium rare, and as you can see from the photos, he demolished every bite. It was his first trip there, and he loved their battered French fries also. For my meal I got the roasted artichokes with an extra side of the lemon vinaigrette to dunk. Let me tell you, the artichokes were phenomenal but the real star was the crispy fried capers. WHO KNEW!!!! Honestly I would love a bowl of crispy fried capers to eat like popcorn. Came to Twisted Fork with my work and sat in the back. It was a Friday afternoon so it was pretty quiet back here. Had scorpion teriyaki chicken wings and meatballs to start. The meatballs are a reasonable size and were seasoned very well. If you're going with a group, you'll probably need two servings. The chicken wings were cooked as close to perfect as they could have been. The meat fell perfectly off the bone. For the main course I had the short rib grilled cheese. Its more grilled cheese lite and closer to a melt. Regardless, it was quite tasty. The fries weren't seasoned super well, but after adding some salt, they were great. read more

Went to dinner with some friends. We made reservations (Friday night) and I was 5 minutes earlier but was able to get seated even if my friends were not there yet :) parking was plentiful. Place was clean and nice...sophisticated but not too much. It was not loud but it was busy. Our server, Tiffany, was very helpful and attentive! My glass of water was never empty -- she memorized the specials and they all sounded yummilicious! We got the appetizer special which was bruschetta with goat cheese, berries, and balsamic vinegar, and it was GOOD! The flavors, sweet from the fruit, savory from the cheese, and tanginess from the vinegar blended well together, none of them were overpowering. We've been traveling and so haven't been able to get to our regular lunch spot in a while. Today I was craving Twisted Fork Fish and Chips, so off we went for Friday lunch. Stopping in Reno on our way home to Park City we ended up eating here as it was close to our hotel. Food was decent, service was good and the server was a sweet young lady who took good care of us. My wife ordered the orzo and chicken salad which was served on a bed of fresh spinach. Orzo and the chicken were cooked perfectly and the dressing married well with the ingredients. I went with pasta served with Italian sausage and shrimp. Again, the proteins were cooked correctly and had good flavor. Was quite happy with the shrimp as all to often it is way overcooked. Pasta and sauce were fine, just way to much of it. The starter salad was supposed to be a Cesar but was basically lettuce with shredded parmesan from a bag. At least I got to eat some greens. I look at a place like this as a road food stop. I want decent food, good service, fair price and the Twisted Fork delivers. read more

On this day, we were with friends that were sampling some of the small plates for an upcoming celebration, so we ordered more appetizers than normal. Pastor Pork Tacos - 3 stars - While the pork was fine, good flavor and not too dry, the tortillas were very dry. The chili sauce added the necessary flavor and moisture to make this starter. Tamal de Champinones - 2 stars - I wanted this to be so much better. Beautifully presented, this dish is just hard to eat. The combination of the mushrooms and masa just had a weird flavor. Not my favorite. Roasted Artichokes - 4 stars - While I personally did not try this starter, it looks lovely, and our friends really loved this dish. They all agreed it was the best started that we ordered. Twisted Burger - 2 stars - Normally a must order entree, on this day it was barely eatable. My wife did order the hamburger to be served "medium well", which in fairness is difficult to get right, this burger was a hockey puck of dryness. Porcini Mushroom Ravioli - 3 stars - A black truffle crème fraiche, topped with organic arugula, heirloom tomatoes, basil pesto, finished with parmigiano reggiano and toasted pine nuts. Another dish that I just wanted to be better. For my taste, the Mushroom Ravioli just had an odd flavor. Now the truffle creme fraiche and pine nuts saved this dish. All in all, we've had better at Twisted Fork. A lovely restaurant, just not that great on this day. read more

The servers were great too and helped me choose what I ordered. Get the piccata, and tiger shrimp tamal. And the banana cheesecake dessert was delicious. Very mid. There is nothing really special about this restaurant. The atmosphere is basic, as most of the decor could be found in target, and they don't change the lighting to make it more romantic. The food is okay and doesn't justify the price. I went with my partner here for the first time on valentines days. They didn't add anything to decorate for the occasion, except cheap heart necklaces worn by the staff. It's not a bad place but I don't plan to go again. read more

Birthday Dinner #2! We LOVE Twisted Fork and invited another couple to join us to celebrate my birthday. The dining room looks as nice as ever. We had an early reservation but our friends got there first and got seated in a booth. My husband HAD made a reservation and wanted to let the host know...and somehow this created a problem. She appeared to not understand...oh well. I guess this is the curse of online only reservations. You never speak to someone! Anyway he got over his aggravation! Generational issues I guess. The cocktails, wine a food were fantastic. Sadly I forgot to take photos! So busy chatting, sipping and eating! (Tip to servers. If everyone at the table is eating drinking and chatting, you don't need to interrupt.) Attentiveness can be "how's that tasting" or it CAN be observing the table! (Gosh I sound cranky). I had the Tamal with champiñones...it was a yummy as ever and I didn't share! It's such a special dish. One friend had the French Dip and fries...some of the only shoestring cut fries around! The other friend had wings and my husband had the Petrale Sole. Everything was wonderful and, considering this is not a new place, as good as ever, not tired at all!!! I also ordered a Baja Salad which I was too full to enjoy last night , but had it this morning. Just the right amount of dressing and the greens were so crispy they still had crunch this morning. It's such a solid and at the same time, innovative restaurant. Certainly out of the core of restaurant Reno, but well worth it. Popped in for a glass of wine and dinner before going to the movies. We sat at the bar, and were greeted with quick service. I don't love the gambling machines on the counter, but we were able to find a spot that was free of them. The vibe in the bar is more like a sports bar with all the TVs. We ordered a few things to share. The pork belly with polenta was the star for me. Perfectly meaty/tender pork belly with delicious polenta! The salad was also good, but we skipped on the bread, or was it supposed to be a crouton? No idea, it was very hard. If it's bread, it needed to be toasted less... if it's a crouton, chop it up so it can be eaten. The tuna was good, definitely more on the savory/soy sauce based flavor instead of a citrus/fresh profile. If I could make one suggestion it's to get some nicer/thinner wine glasses. The wine list here is decent, but I cringe at the thick rimmed glass. read more

Two of my coworkers had the French Dip, one had the grilled chicken sandwich special, and I had the Chimichurri Tri Tip sandwich. The tri tip was super delicious and flavorful. It wasn't fatty or chewy at all. It is the same meat in the French Dip, and my coworkers raved about it as well. The pepperoncinis on my sandwich really made it awesome! I chose the regular fries for my side, and they were hot, fresh, and crispy. I cleared my whole plate! I also had the Scorpio Sangria with one of my coworkers, and it was super refreshing and delicious. The host was very nice and gave us the option of a booth or table, and upstairs or downstairs. She mentioned the upstairs seating was quieter, so we opted for that. What a delightful meal! We came to celebrate our anniversary on a Tuesday, and the place was packed. That was a surprise given the day of week, and I was glad we made a reservation. Despite that, service was super quick and attentive! They were very accommodating of food allergies and our server Mimi went above and beyond to check with the kitchen and make sure everything was dairy free for me. The short ribs were flavorful and juicy and they happily subbed in extra broccoli rabe since I couldn't have the potatoes.
