So large it was bigger than the plate. I thought someone was kidding when they said no steak sauce was needed, nope. Melted in your mouth, favorable and NO sauce needed. My only complaint is the live music,while the music selection was great it was just too loud,even with twenty or so people in there eating and conversing. Great little spot that at first glance doesn't impress you on the outside. It's in a strip center at the end, right next to a Five Guys. We read many other reviews and honestly this place did not disappoint in the slightest! From a great wine selection, mixed drinks, and beers, they have something for everyone. The food though is where it gets even better. Meals are priced very reasonably given the industry and quality of products they are serving, and every entree comes with a side and your choice of a salad (mixed greens with about 6 dressing options, or a ceasar salad), or you can choose a second side. My wife ordered her usual filet cooked medium rare, which a filet can be tough to get there and not overcook it or leave the middle still rare or less. The filet (and the wife from the other couple with us also ordered the filet) came out perfect. I ordered the ribeye, priced at just under $40 with the salad and side, cooked medium rare and I chose to add the blue cheese topping to my steak which was a reasonable add-on cost. My ribeye (and I am 100% a ribeye snob being I used to run a fine dining restaurant for close to 15 years in south Florida) came out perfectly to temp. A nice 14oz portion cut very well with excellent marbling and tasted even better than it looked. Definitely don't pass up on The Steakhouse if you want a quality restaurant, linen table settings like any high end steakhouse, and very peaceful atmosphere to have great conversations over an amazing meal! read more

Saturday night dinner was a big disappointment. Our server was great and overwhelmed but did what he could. The food was mediocre at best. There was an outstanding char on the steak. It was absolutely worth bar seat's plus our bartender was super nice. We will be back to sample the prime rib for sure. Food was okay. They are aiming to be fancy but they fall a bit short. Service was pretty good. You should have a reservation. We did not but they gave us a table in the bar. There were many open tables when we arrived and several were still empty when we left so Im not sure why they made such a big deal over the reservation. Heard do many nice things about this place. My side salad has 1.5 pieces of Ramain lettuce on a very small plate. Orderd the Salmon topped ofc with lobster. My salmon had a wet red substance that looked like a small mound of caviar. The restaurant has pieces of decorations that looked like nothing but dust catchers. The very old private standing in the corner for example. The floor was constructed in concrete. Nothing nice about this dump. Located between a burger place and a BBQ restaurant, The Steakhouse can be accused of hiding in plain sight in this unassuming strip mall. On the night of my visit, they offered a choice of three steaks (filet, ribeye and sirloin) with all the trimmings (choice of salad and side items) for under thirty dollars. We dined here on a Saturday night and were welcomed with the wonderful live music of guitarist Annie Allman. Service was impeccable, and I ordered the fourteen ounce ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted corn. The steak was cooked perfectly, and seasoning on all of the items was amazing with no need to add any salt or pepper. Without a doubt, this steakhouse ranks in the top two of all I have ever visited. The are closed on Monday and Tuesday, and reservations are highly encouraged. The meal was amazing and I look forward to many return visits in the future. read more

Last Thursday, we arrived at opening time, and The Steakhouse was already booked for the evening. Upon arrival tonight, at 5:00 pm, only bar seating was available. This unadvertised restaurant opened about a year ago, it's a small restaurant and Covid social distancing is respected. Another highlight of The Steakhouse is the live entertainment. Annie Allman plays here Thursday - Saturday, 6-9, and each Thursday is wine tasting night. Make reservations! I was thrilled to see they had several Manhattan cocktail choices. I said "yes, please" to the Woodford Reserve, Cherry Street Manhattan. Cheers! The three steak entrees here include a choice of salad, potato, and vegetable. My filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly medium as requested, $26.95. The House salad with balsamic was fresh and crisp, and the add on request of crumbled blue cheese - no problem! Visiting Savannah for a night with two adult sons. We were looking for a good steak at a locally owned, non-chain establishment. We struck gold with Chris McGary's steak house. Loved the tomahawk ribeye special! Excellent flavor NY Strip with sautéed onion and mushroom toping. Excellent prices with salad and sides included. Got here at exactly 5pm, when they opened, and within five minutes half the dining room was full, which was stunning, I've never seen such a visible display of local popularity. Once I got my food I fully understood why, too - everything was incredible. I had a ribeye (the remaining half of which is currently in my fridge calling to me), and the curry shrimp appetizer, and my husband had penna a la vodka and steak bruschetta, and then we split a slice of classic cheesecake for dessert. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and flavorful, I have no complaints whatsoever. The cocktail menu was practically laser-targeted at me, too - I had a rosemary gin martini with my dinner and a black raspberry chocolate martini with my dessert. I commented to my husband, as I was drinking the latter, that this is in fact the precise thing I'm constantly trying to manufacture at home with various chocolate liquors and fruit wines and dairy products, and which I almost NEVER see at restaurants because everyone seems to prefer fruity cocktails (not that there's anything wrong with that! If you want a local lively restaurant experience the Steakhouse is great. A funky and eclectic small restaurant that serves great food. Our shrimp appetizer came with four jumbo(2-bites each) shrimp chilled with a lemon wedge and homemade cocktail sauce. We each had a salad, Caesar for me and house with blue cheese dressing. The croutons -a mark of a great salad were a nice delicate seasoned crunch. Not jaw breakers! We ordered two glasses of a red French Bordeaux blend and they were served in large red wine glasses with nice pours. The wine was delicious and perfect with steak. If you want steaks cooked well done, get the seafood! Steaks are cooked in an 1800 degree char oven, so medium is the most it can cook inside. I ordered the NY Strip medium. Oh so good. I love my steak with a good char and ribbon of red in the center. - Perfect! The seafood trio (salmon filet, grilled shrimp, & 1/2 lobster tail) was delicious and a plate full. The sides are standard fare. Potato either creamed or roasted and green beans. We finished this fine meal splitting a generous slice of Tuxedo cake. The chocolate cake was moist, kept that way by the mousse filling. Divine. Our server was polite and explained dishes we will try on the next visit. Hope they have the Bourbon smoked Bacon appetizer next time I'm there. We were not rushed and we loved the 70's music. We were there fairly early and the restaurant filled up fast by the time we finished. For this four course meal with a glass of wine each and tip we spent $200.00. I had an incredibly disappointing experience at The Steakhouse tonight. My family and friends went there with high expectations, but the evening was marred by poor food quality and atrocious service. One of our friends ordered the lamb chops, which arrived raw in the center. After sending it back, it returned still uncooked. He then requested a medium-rare filet (pictured below) which was also raw inside upon arrival. Despite multiple attempts to try to get them to thoroughly cook it, each dish came out undercooked. To make matters worse, when we asked for the meal to be removed from the bill, they refused. after stating that we will not be dining there anymore, the owner's wife told us, "we won't miss you." This place clearly has no regard for customer satisfaction or quality control. I would strongly advise against dining here. read more

The Steakhouse on Whitmarsh is BY FAR our favorite steakhouse we've found in the Savannah area! The staff is very nice and they have live music every Saturday! My favorite thing to order is the Caesar salad with steak and the penne alla vodka. Their Caesar dressing is delicious and creamy, and they top the salad with Parmesan crisps instead of croutons. The penne alla vodka is the perfect consistency creaminess and I like to top it with crushed red pepper to give it a little kick! We tried the desserts for the first time recently and the peanut butter cheesecake was TO DIE FOR! I really appreciate that they actually give you a real slice instead of a small sliver like many restaurants do now a days. read more

We ordered medium. They were MUCH less cooked than medium. My brother's steak was purple in the center. My scalloped potatoes were not good. I make those for Christmas Eve dinner and mine are WAY better (Thanks to the Pioneer Woman). We rely on Yelp to find new, yummy places. This is NOT it. this place was very classless, with horrible management , poor customer service. First i would like to start out with when me and my company walked in we werent greeted we were starred at thankfully we had a reservation. our server wasn't bad but we could tell she was either new or unfamiliar with knowledge of the menu. Neither is it stated on the menu. when I received my dish my meat was undercooked red and pink!! When I specifically asked for MEDIUM WELL which should have been very thin slightly pink center NOT RAW UNDERCOOKED!! I spoke with my waitress informing her I wasn't pleased then she told me , the meats are prepared medium rare in pasta dishes I asked the server to show me where was that stated on the menu because if I knew that I wouldn't have ordered that. And it needs to be put on the menu if that's the case, to for warn customers that they don't have a choice on how their steak will be cooked,it will be served medium rare! The waitress attempted to accommodate me, she asked did I want a different entree, or what would I like done about the situation. I did like the penne alla vodka but I would of liked for my meat to be cooked longer, the waitress proceeded to say when pasta dishes are made at that restaurant the meats are cooked medium rare... well why would the waitress ask me how would I liked my steak cooked if it was going to be served to me how ever the recipe or restaurant calls for,not what the customer requested and has to pay for! I then told her I would like another steak to be cooked well done. The lady manager came to the table with no compassion or remorse for the issue at hand. She advised she would take the meat off my plate and take it back into the kitchen to be cooked more, that is unsanitary. She then told me well you have a Togo box you can take it with you. I will not pay for something that wasnt properly cooked correctly nor was it cooked to my liking as asked when the order was put in. My total came to $67 .and some change I politely deducted the $12.95 for the steak I was charged for and left the other $53 on the table along with the under cooked meat and the pasta penne. I proceed to call the police because the environment became hostile and I was scared for my life. The police never showed and when I called back 911 dispatch told me it would be a second for an officer to come I told them I was leaving because I was afraid and being harassed by the staff and management I called the police for HELP and that's just crazy how law enforcement never showed up to help come to a conclusion or to deescalate the situation. The entire staff followed me out the door unprofessionally while it still was other customers in the restaurant. They were screaming and yelling as If I walked out on my ticket and I didn't! I had already told the manger I wasn't paying for their mistake and would gladly pay for everything else. They proceed to get my tag number and yell and be GHETTO in the parking lot. This place seems to be racist from the start!! I tried to be a great guest but the poor management and lack of customer service skills made my experience horrible. This place was very tasteless and seems like the only way you would get good service and treat properly is if you are Caucasian. We came on a Friday night with reservations. The hostess greeted us, but left a lingering of cigarette smoke with her "hello". This was a turnoff. The server was very nice and informative about the menu. Compared to many restaurants in the downtown Savannah tourist area, the prices are very fair, however, in one case, the prime rib came with a very large lump of fat on the top of the meat that should have been removed by the chef before serving. The Caesar salad had crunchy pieces of Parmesan which were interesting, and seemed to replace croutons since there was none in my salad and few in others. Also the dressing tasted more like bottled Caesar dressing. There was a musician who played guitar had a nice selection of recognizable tunes however, at times the levels were too loud. We enjoyed a special anniversary dinner last night. We discovered the Steakhouse a couple months ago and have enjoyed dinner several times. On weekends, they have a fabulous musician playing familiar tunes softly. Last night, we both wanted something other than steak. I had the salmon and he had a spicy shrimp pasta dish. Both were excellent. The starter was filet mignon bruschetta which was so fresh and delicious. On previous visits, we've enjoyed their steaks--rib eye, New York and Filet, all expertly seared and cooked to perfection. Terrible experience. We ordered lamb and it came out raw. We sent it back and it again came back raw. We sent it back a third time and opted for the filet. It also came back raw. We complained again. Chris the owner and I assume his wife took a very defensive stance. No compensation on our meal...She had the audacity to say "oh honey we won't miss you if you all never come back". The tomahawk steak we ordered was rare even though we ordered it medium. Jerry our waiter felt it was acceptable to make a sexual joke at our table to my girlfriend. When my gf said the steak was " too small" he looked down and said something about how he just met her. Implying his genitals were too small. They did offer to cook the steak to a medium like we asked originally after it was cut and all the juices drained. Reservations are a must, which we had. If you make 5:00 pm reservations, wait in the car if you come early. They don't open the door until 5:00. The steaks were good, nicely seasoned and well priced. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and the corn in the vegetable medley did not taste fresh. The service was pleasant, but slow. We didn't try the desserts.
