We decided on this place for the price & proximity to Pike Place. We couldn't believe the view, the perfect view of the sign. A smaller room, but very clean & modern. We pretty much just were in there to sleep,so it really didn't matter. Checking in & out was quick & easy & everyone at the front desk was very nice. You get a $15 chip for every night you're there that can be used at the restaurant or their little convenience store. We used it at the store & got a few snacks & drinks to go. If you have a car, definitely take advantage of their little discount affiliated with the parking garage they recommend. We had the best time & hope to be back again soon.

With our luggage secured, no fees, we enjoyed walking the neighborhood. The State hotel is located perfectly for a walking tour to many of Seattles "must sees." A block away from Pikes Market, couple blocks from the Old Stove Brewing Company and Beecher's handmade cheese. The hotel has an art deco feel with some of the turn of the century nuances that promotes elegance, authenticity and welcoming. There's an onsite restaurant, coffee, tea and water in the lobby/lounge and a welcoming gift at check in to wet your whistle. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed is warm and inviting. A special robe to warm you while you unwind on the rooftop, a MUST SEE. In our room, special treats and sentiment acknowledges our anniversary. Nice attention to detail. A very pleasant surprise. The views from the room were spectacular. Close enough to smell the water but far enough not to smell the fish . The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the rooms are clean and relaxing. My only wish, I had more time. Add this place to your list.

I am absolutely WOW'ed by the incredible integrity and amazing service of this hotel and their staff. They went above and beyond to fix a minor error. Noah K, the Asst. Manager is a rockstar. Thank you again for everything. I will be back and recommend The State Hotel to all my friends and family who come to visit .

Great views!

Nice hotel, great location right in the middle of everything and great free coffee in the morning. We found a good deal on this via Costco, very happy with it. Breakfast in the restaurant was mediocre and way overpriced, but tons of good options right out the door.

Chase Sapphire Reserve edit review. Only stayed here because of the credit. It is a HUGE plus (and the only reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1. Literally right next to Pike Place. Maximum, I would stay here would be 2 nights. Ideally, if it's your first time, just use it as a hub to do your touristy downtown items. Besides the location, it goes downhill from there. Weird check in experience. Made eye contact with the staff inside since the door wouldn't open and she pointed me to go around (thinking I was there for the restaurant). So was running around in the rain for no reason. Then a bit slow on the check in process. Rooms were on the smaller side. Windows are transparent. The Chase credit you get with the card is pretty hard to use...and we didn't have a good experience with the restaurant. Parking is ~$30 a night. It is on the cheaper side, but it is a walk away each time and kind of a hassle to go in and out. Location only plus. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere.

My stay at The State Hotel was exceptionally pleasant. First off, it's conveniently located - just a block from Pike's Place. Parking is included (I I think) should you have a car. The garage is just a block away from the hotel with easy in and out privileges. The hotel lobby gorgeous. It's well lit and quite spacious. And each floor has really fantastic wallpaper designed by a local artist. It gives whimsical and fun. I do fear that the room is definitely on the smaller side - though not unusual for boutique hotels. We didn't spend a ton of time at the hotel, so it was just big enough to suit our basic needs. It was quaint and clean. They do have a cute little rooftop where you can grab a drink and catch the sunset. The front staff was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying at the State Hotel.

This hotel is very convenient. That is pretty much it. The room was decent on the surface, but poorly designed. The hotel had me fill out a "pre registration" form and it outlined a very strange guest policy. They specifically outlined "quiet hours" and other strange "rules" that made it seem more like a dorm or hostel. I tried to ask for a late checkout the night before, but was told I needed to call in the morning to request it. Why would I want to wake up early, if I'm asking for a late checkout? When I did call in the morning, I was told they already have the maximum allowed. I was up early, because there was a loud noise that seemed to be coming from wither the walls or outside of the building near my room. When I told the front desk, they said nonchalantly that it was the birds. Wtf. The gym equipment has a single channel on the tv, if that machine has a tv that works. There was one employee that was exceptional, I don't remember his name, but he went above and beyond each time I had an interaction with him. Or, possibly them. He/they had cute nails. From check in, to helping me find the Hertz location in downtown, this employee was by far the best of the 3 or 4 I interacted with during my stay.

The second room I got after my first had dog hair on the bed! Got punished with a parking lot view.

The State Hotel is a lovely hotel and conveniently located within a 5 minute walk to Pike Place Market. I also wanted a hotel close to the link station drop off. It was a 5 minute walk from there, which I took from the airport! PICTURES BELOW. EXPERIENCE: The lobby is stunning. I was only there a night before a cruise. It's a short 5 minute drive to the cruise terminal! That was in traffic! The restaurant looked great, but I didn't try it. Unfortunately I got a room that was dirty. It had a nice view that I paid for though. There was hair on the bed which was a turnoff. They had me switch rooms. Then I had a view of a parking lot. I tried not to let that bother me. The room was cute. I bought a robe! They are so cozy! Unfortunately there are still dirty features in these rooms. The fans were filthy as well as the blow dryers. The boxed water was $10. Please just give one free water! This hotel deserves a 3 Star Rating for this experience, but I feel like being generous. I will possibly give it a second chance if I'm in Seattle again, simply because the location is ideal. Overall, I loved the hotel! The rooftop terrace at sunset is a must!

Great place! We stayed here a couple of nights in Seattle after an Alaskan cruise. As someone who grew up during the grunge rock era, I have had many ties to Seattle, even though I have never been here before. This hotel is located downtown near the public market, so it is just a few hundred feet away from Pikes Pl., Fish Company, chewing gum, Alley, and a number of other famous sites here on the waterfront. It is also close to the monorail, which makes it very easy to get to the sky needle, the museum of Pop culture, and Chihuly Gardens. Comfortable bed and spacious rooms. Great staff! And a very nice restaurant that is attached to the property. Highly recommended!

We booked this hotel through a Costco travel deal and were absolutely THRILLED with our stay here. The ambience of the hotel is incredibly chic and cool and the front desk staff were very friendly. Our room was spotless and they came and cleaned our room every single day while we were out sightseeing which was SO nice and a huge bonus for us. The room itself is a little small, but that is to be expected in an older/smaller building downtown. The location itself was also incredible. A Target/CVS right across the sidewalk, a Salt and Straw on the other corner, and right next to Pike Place Market. The restaurant in the hotel (Ben Paris) was also incredibly clean and delicious. The only downsides to this hotel was checking in was difficult as there wasn't really a good place to park and finding the entrance was confusing. The other downside is that there is no on-site parking-you have to park in a garage a little ways down the street and walk to and from the hotel, which although isn't necessarily difficult and is common in a city, is still a little inconvenient. We also had issues with the room service-they had switched over to a new system one day without notifying us and so we placed a dinner order, never received it, and then the restaurant was closed for the evening. We tried a burger another night and it was mediocre. Besides the room and parking-I really was pleased with the hotel in regards to cleanliness and location. Overall we were REALLY impressed and would absolutely stay here again!

Love the art deco atmosphere and the incredibly comfy bed! Noah, at the front desk, was very friendly and helpful to us two old ladies. (Patient and kind to us with our million questions.) Lots of information upon arrival! The expensive daily parking was a surprise, but I guess we should have guessed this would be an added expense. The rooms are small, but the bathrooms are huge. So, that's a thing. I'm not a huge fan of the open shower concept, but it was a great shower with lots of water pressure and roomy. We had a pretty city view from our room. One thing.... You really can't sit and relax in your room. There's one chair, and it's very tight in there. If you're in your room, you're in your room to sleep. If you're in town to sightsee, this is the hotel for you! It's right smack in the middle of everything you want to see, do, or eat! Short walk to all!

We loved our stay here! We were a little late to check in and the front desk was speedy so we could catch the end of Drinking in the Rain event at the Roof Top. The views were incredible and really relaxing. We enjoyed our cocktails that the bartender made and had a great conversation with him. Everything was immaculately clean, stylish, and convenient. The walk to Pike Place was great and we really enjoyed our early morning stroll before leaving for our cruise. This hotel is great, has wonderful security measures to ensure safety, and everyone here is super pleasant. A must if staying in Seattle.

WOW! The State Hotel for the anniversary win! What an excellent surprise in Downtown Seattle, a gem of a place! Took a chance on our travel plans to Seattle to celebrate our 13th anniversary, and found an excellent priced bundle that included The State Hotel on the itinerary. I just had to go for it! Wifey & I were pleasantly surprised we did! Since it was our anniversary I decided to email The State Hotel ahead of time to ensure a special dinner for us at the restaurant located within the hotel, Ben Paris. Another great experience I will save til next time! I got an email response right away from the general manager Anne that all was ready and the staff was looking forward to our stay. Nice touch! Upon arrival to The State Hotel we were greeted warmly (it was a chilly day LOL) and was told upon checking in they took the liberty of upgrading us to a room that was overlooking Pike Place Market, letting us know it was one of the rooms with the best view! We loved it! And upon getting into the room there was a nice setup of munchies and a card welcoming us and thanking us for celebrating our anniversary with them! Much thanks for the super welcome! The State Hotel is seriously conveniently near the heart of Downtown Seattle - Pike Place Market is literally 80 steps from the hotel entrance, Target is a hop away across the street for your necessities, and the Link Light Rail entrance is a skip away for when you need to go back to the airport! We even had some drama at our stay with The State Hotel! I managed to somehow knock over my wedding ring to the back of the room dresser and couldn't reach it because the dresser is bolted into the floor! I went into panic! But hotel staff to the rescue! The next morning we were leaving on a ferry to Victoria BC so we stopped by early to let them know of my predicament. Front desk staff told me not to worry they'll get maintenance on it. No more than an hour after we left the hotel & we were on the ferry on the way to Canada - I received a text saying that my ring was found and it would be left on a secure spot on the dresser. OMG - what life savers! Totally made me feel at ease the rest of our stay is Seattle. I even love the check out at The State Hotel, most places would give you til 11 AM but they gave us til 12 noon to enjoy our time there! What a difference that hour makes! We were able to conveniently enjoy brunch at Pike Place Market before leaving to the airport. I can't say enough nice things about The State Hotel and it's lovely staff - it was one of our most memorable stays in Seattle, and we do visit often for our anniversary. Seattle is one of my wife's favorite places to visit during this time. It's almost a yearly pilgrimage. I think The State Hotel will be one of our mainstays now when we visit again! I sure hope we get to go again real soon!

There's only a small area for parking in front of the hotel and it's also the spot for Valet. You'll likely have to post up in the travel lane to check in or drop off your car. The hotel has some unique amenities but I wasn't able to use them for such a short stay. The King corner room far exceeded my expectations. It's spacious and felt pretty luxurious. The star of the room is the soaking tub. It's deep and the water is hot. I especially liked that there's a separate shower. The workspace is nice and there are plenty of plugs for everything. The Nespresso comes stocked and is free to use. The mini bar, not so much, and it's pretty pricy. The bed. THE BED! If I could have brought it home with me I would have. It's lush and it smelled good. Like fresh dryer sheets good. I don't think I've ever said that about a hotel bed before. If you need a firm bed you won't like this one. I didn't have much interaction with the staff but when I did it was pleasant. I am definitely staying here again.

Gym location is not great - below basement so it's small and without any natural light. Because I often use Hyatt points, I find I am usually placed in a room very close to and facing another building/ parking garage . . . making the room very dark and without any view. Sigh . . . so make sure to ask the front desk if you can get a room that doesn't face another building that feels like it's 8 feet away. I booked it partly because it's part of Hilton's Tapestry Collection, so I could earn and redeem Hilton Honors points. That was a huge plus since I was visiting during the World Cup and hotel prices were absolutely wild: close to $800 a night if I had paid out of pocket! The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. There was a bellman opening the door, everyone we interacted with was friendly and accommodating, and it was always easy to grab an Uber right outside the hotel. One feature I really liked was the little pantry in the lobby. It's basically a self-service convenience store stocked with local candy, snacks, wine, beer, and other treats. You scan everything yourself and can charge it directly to your room, which was super convenient. We used our HHonors stay credit to buy a small bottle of Washington State wine and some local chocolates. The hotel has a really fun music theme throughout, and the design is modern with a Scandinavian-inspired feel. As a Gen Xer, I thought the vibe was just plain cool without trying too hard. Our standard King room had huge windows, a spacious sitting area, and clean, minimalist European-style décor that felt fresh and comfortable. The hotel itself was also surprisingly quiet despite being located in an urban area, so we slept really well. The only disappointment was our view. It wasn't much to look at. I was secretly hoping for an upgrade, but no luck. Not a deal breaker, just a minor letdown considering one side of the hotel affords perfect views of the Space Needle. The location is excellent for sightseeing on foot. We walked to Pike Place Market in about 10 minutes, and the Space Needle was also around a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. Just be prepared for Seattle's hills! They're no joke, and you'll be going up and down some very, very steep streets to get to the waterfront. There are also plenty of great restaurants, bars, shops, and coffee shops within easy walking distance. One thing I'd mention is that while we felt comfortable during the day, after dinner around 10:45 p.m. we decided to take an Uber back from the Pike Place Market area instead of walking back to the hotel because parts of the area felt a little sketchy at night. Seattle has a very serious problem with drug users and unhoused folks, and they can get a little scary. I feel so badly for them, but I also felt a lot safer in an Uber than trying to walk back in the downtown area that late at night. The Sound is a stylish, comfortable hotel with excellent service, a great location, and a fun personality. If you're a Hilton Honors member, it's an especially solid choice when Seattle hotel prices are high.

Upon arriving at the front desk, I checked in and was told the room would be ready shortly but it was more like 4 hours later. I found the front desk staff to be professional but not very friendly. There is a lounge area on the 7th floor with a bar and indoor / outdoor seating. At night it is particularly nice because there is an electric fire pit with great seating and view of the Space Needle. Again, the bar staff was professional but not very welcoming. The room we stayed in was a corner room but it only had one windows on one wall so the room stayed pretty dark. It was comfortable and cool with very good bedding. The bathroom was great and it even had a heated floor. Check-out was okay eventhough they had to adjust our bill because we were not credited our Hilton Honors credit for both of us in the room which took a while. It seems that the ride share car services wait outside the hotel on cruise ship mornings so getting a car takes only a minute or two. I would stay at this property again with hopes for a more welcoming staff.

Our last two nights of our journey were spent in Seattle at the Shafer Baillie mansion. I would highly recommend staying here. The location was great for getting to downtown and all around. It is close to the Cap Hill neighborhood with shops and restaurants. There is plenty of street parking in the vicinity. The mansion itself is part of what was known as Millionaire's Row. It was built in 1914 and has been well cared for over the years. When we came back from one evening out, we all gathered in the Library and set up some charcuterie and wine to share from our travels. It was so cozy sitting all together and chatting about our adventures. The rooms are historic with modern conveniences. Our room was the Queen Ann Hill. We slept soundly in our comfortable 4 poster bed. There was a helpful step stool for me to climb up as I am vertically challenged. It has original pushbotton light switches. It had a beautiful full length mirror. There was a flatscreen TV, but we had so many wonderful activities we did not use it. The bathroom was updated but still fit with the historic look. There were two showerheads in the tiled shower. Breakfast was lovely. I, personally, have a great deal of food allergies. There was ample selection that I was able to enjoy just as much as anyone else. There were breads and pastries, jams and spreads, yogurt and fresh berries, and a hot breakfast dish. Hard boiled eggs were available as well as cheeses and meats. There was a coffee bar that was available all day that also had tea and cocoa. We sat at the long dining table enjoying each others company and conversation. We got to meet some of the other guests which added to the experience. The greeters always opened the door for me, the check-in desk staff were courteous and always had a smile, and the checkout process was also quick and ended with an invitation to return to the property the next time I'm in Seattle. As soon as I stepped out of my Uber upon initial arrival, a staff member walked up to open my door and asked if I needed help with my bags. My room was comfortable in every aspect. The temperature controls worked great, the bed was very comfortable and had an adequate number of pillows, the bathroom was well-appointed, and everything was very clean. The bath towels were large, soft, and plush. The frosted door to the water closet was a nice touch for the sake of privacy if you were sharing the space with someone. The shower was not huge but it was more than adequately spacious for me. There were 2 robes hung in the bathroom (though I didn't use them). The small table and chairs near the window were convenient and comfortable to work from. The view from my room was very nice, especially during clear days when you can see the water and the mountains in the distance. The room was always well maintained after the typical morning cleaning as well as during turn down service. I appreciated the staff placing slippers by the bed and how they always nicely arranged my toiletries in the bathroom, replaced used towels with fresh ones, and even placed things on the table in the bedroom (like my charger, earbud case, eyeglass case, and so on) neatly for when I returned. The bar area at the back of the restaurant was a nice little area and had a table large enough for our group of around 8-10 to comfortably sit at while enjoying a nightcap. My breakfast the day I checked out was also high quality and my server Nathan was pleasant, timely, and honest about prep time of some items I wanted to order but was constricted due to a time crunch. In general, every staff member I encountered was pleasant, eager to help, and always smiled and made eye contact when speaking with me. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and have no complaints. This property is one of the top 2-3 Four Seasons hotels I have stayed at over the past several years. This hotel is an excellent choice for those wanting to stay in a waterfront property that's walkable to the cruise terminal as well. Though Four Seasons is not the most cost effective option for a comfortable hotel in downtown Seattle, I highly recommend this hotel based on my recent experience in June 2025. Where to start.... Location, location, location! The hotel is literally a block away from the entrance to Pike Place Market where you can spend days shopping, snacking, and enjoying the views of the water. The views from the hotel room are breathtaking as the Great Wheel (Ferris wheel) and Aquarium are just a few minutes away by foot. From the Four Seasons, we were able to walk to Chinatown in under 30 min (you can also take the train just 2 stops down) and Seattle Center where the Space Needle is located is also walkable and also accessible via monorail. The staff greets you at the door every time you enter and exit, and the lobby is full of surprises like premium coffee and tea in the mornings and a candy bar in the afternoon. Every time our room was serviced, it was done to perfection and then some. The chat function on the app was amazing as I was able to make requests and ask questions with ease. Responses were close to immediate. At the front desk and concierge, staff are also very friendly and treated us with respect and honor. They also provided great advice for food and sightseeing options close by. They never tried to sell me stuff where they would make money off of it. I could go on and on, but I have to say that my family's experience was extremely memorable, and if I could give this place 6 stars, I would. If you're looking for the optimal location for breathtaking views, seconds away from Pike Place Market, and still walkable to the Space Needle, Chinatown, the Convention Center, etc., this is it, y'all!
