Happened upon the Square Deli when a friend were in Chelsea for a medical test. OMGOODNESS. It was amazing. The menu was huge and so were the sandwiches. We had a Reuben and Paisano with lotsa fresh ingredients including yummy fresh bread. Served with homemade chips and pickles. Enough for 2 meals or to split if we agreed on the sandwich, lol. The owner was SO nice and friendly and accommodating. We opted for take out containers for another meal and the chocolate chip (homemade & huge) again with a great balance of soft in the middle and crispy on edges. They have been working on their cookies for a while, so they say, I think it's by far the best cookie I have ever had! hopefully don't have to go back for medical tests but would definitely field trip for their pizza next which has won many awards. read more

May have been good years ago with original owner but I have tried 3 times and it sucks! Pizza is not worth the rating from idiot Portnoy! Steak in steak and cheese sub is fatty and cut too thick. Italian sub is a joke, cold cuts are not authentic Italian, the meats are more like what you find in an American sub! A decade ago I moved to Boston from New York, it was really hard to find great pizza in these parts. With the exception of one or two places, pretty much all pizza I encountered was way below standard. Especially Greek pizzerias. Good lord. So anytime I find a pizza place that is legitimately good, it's a highly coveted find. I ordered delivery from Square Deli and my pizza was absolutely fantastic. In fact, it was one of the best first bites I've had of any pizza ... anywhere. Including New Haven (though it's not the same style). it was perfectly thin and crispy without being overcooked, an incredibly flavorful sauce, and didn't flop over much with the soppressata ingredients weighing it down. I have tried to order from here 2 days in a row, and both days, they fail to answer the phone and their online ordering system is faulty. The hours on the website change every 5 minutes. One second, it's marked that they're open 12pm-5pm, then it says "closed 6pm - 6:45pm" and now it's telling me that the establishment is closed entirely on Thursdays. I've only been coming here recently with their semi new release in pizza. Cheese or pepperoni? Either or please! Not your average delis pizza. It is hand tossed and has a thin crust. The sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes which is key to making a great sauce. They use fine ingredients and you can just tell after your first bite. I feel like I'm at a specialty pizza joint, but I'm at the square deli and we've gone back numerous times. Yesterday was our most recent visit. We opted for subs as that's their original specialty. I had my first meatball sub and my boyfriend has the Italian. Both were amazingly delicious. The one thing I could possibly recommend for the meatball sub is maybe using a baguette to get a better crunch, as the roll got quite soggy by the time we got home. read more

I had no idea about this place and I live around the corner! My daughter and her husband who live about 15 miles away saw it on social media . I brought food from there today and it sure didn't disappoint. The three of us thought it was so good. The Square Deli has been me and my family go to spot since the owner Chris opened. His sandwiches were always phenomenal, but his pizza is now our hands down one of the best pizzas I have ever had. It's me and my family go to for pizza night. You can tell how much care goes into making his pizzas if you're looking for a new spot in the Everett area I highly highly recommend going in and grabbing some pizza. A reputable lunch at a local deli. The Square is a small storefront shop in Everett. There are 3 or 4 small tables, but most of the business is take out. It's clearly a local favorite as many customers were know by first name and ordered "the usual". I tried The Bronx: grilled corned beef and pastrami with swiss cheese, chopped pickles and dijon mustard on a toasted sub roll. It's an OK portion (not huge) of freshly sliced meat, grilled till warm and a little crispy. The dijon and chopped pickles do the trick to moisten it up and add some tart to the rich meat. Served with thick cut chips. Not gourmet eats, but a good spot for deli fare. read more

Been wanting to try the pizza here for a while, but the hours they are open have made it difficult. It was decent but it was not as good as the hype. Maybe I built it up in my head too much, but I would not put it up there with the top tier pizzas. The crust was really good which is probably the best thing going for this pizza. The sauce and overall taste was overpowered by the basil. This was even after I took off the extra basil they sprinkle on top as the sauce has a lot of it mixed it. Was not a deal-breaker but just an FYI on that. I debated between a 3 and 4 for this place but just didn't feel they were quite on the level of a 4. The level of care that this gentleman puts into his pizza--and everything else he serves-- is something else. This is hands-down one of the very best pizzas in the Boston area. Thin, crunchy, flavorful sourdough crust, a bright, delicious tomato sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. You can tell the ingredients are top notch. Most pizzas become less appetizing as they cool-- that's when the quality of the ingredients shines through. This one is delicious from the first bite to the last. A truly elevated pie. This was about a week ago and I'm never ordering from there again - and I didn't even get to eat the food. Not that they care. But, what had happened was... my order was taking forever, well over an hour, and GH support said they're using their own driver and are on the way. Ok, no big deal, I wasn't really upset about the time, just wanted to know that it was happening - I had been a big fan of this place for years and was looking forward to this meal. Now, I've had repeated issues with GH drivers where they never let me know they arrived and leave my food outside on the ground in a high-traffic area for residents and pets, bugs ... whatever, food doesn't belong on the damn ground. So because of these issues, I have delivery notes mentioning there's no tip if food is left outside. It's not meant to be so much of a threat, I just appreciate communication... especially when I'm hungry. So, another half hour goes by and I call Square Deli directly. The girl who answered asked me to hold and then some guy picks up sounding like he's already got it out for me - I was confused by his attitude when I didn't have one. He tells me their driver called and tried the building intercom but I didn't answer. My phone *never* rang, for whatever reason, and when I said that he just seemed to get more upset. So I go out front to find my food cold like it had been sitting there for a long while, oh, also the note attached to the bag. First off, my address is barely 2mi from the shop and if they're listed as a delivery option for whatever address, don't get mad at me for taking advantage. I'm trying to patron your damn deli. Then, as I'm opening up the bag to get to my sandwich, fries & juice, I stopped, considering the fact that if they were bent outta shape enough to pen this love letter, I can't trust what was done with my food. I've seen too much in my lifetime to put good faith into this situation. So I conveyed this to GH and got refunded for the food part of it, paid for the juice and left the $4-5 tip as is, just the tip. I ordered delivery through the website. It came when they said it would arrive and the driver was kind enough to text me with a picture to tell me where he left the order. The portions were extremely generous. I ordered both the paisano and the beauty and the beef and both were well made and packaged with care. The chicken cutlet was hot and freshly made, so it arrived crispy and juicy. I've had chicken cutlet sandwiches where you could tell that the chicken had all been pre-fried well before the order and were cold and soggy. So glad that they made to order or I caught them at the right time! The beauty and the beef had a very generous softball sized portion of meat with crispy fried onions, cheese, and bbq sauce. I would have liked it better if the beef was warm, but I can always pop the sandwich in the microwave. If you're thinking about ordering delivery and live in the vicinity, I would recommend going through their website and not a third party service. I was going to order on Door Dash, but the prices on Door Dash were at least $1 to $3 dollars more per sandwich. If you order more than 1 sandwich, the store's service is a much better deal! read more

After my last review I received a message from the Owner of Square Deli with nice words and insisting I try them again so he could make it up to me... So one night we were hanging out recently it was too hot & didnt want to cook, I reached out to Chris... Ordered the Steak Tips again, Meatball Sub & some other things. Steak was GREAT this time, I asked for them as rare as they could legally walk out the door... By the time they got to us they were a nice Med Rare... Just great, Love the rice. Everything was good. BF said the Meatball was GOOD (for him thats huge - normally you just get a nod)... I got Mozzarella sticks which were super good (I mean you really cant screw those up.) and a Steak Bomb - It was a little overcooked but I know that it was prob just an off night, the toppings were good, everything was good just the meat a little too browned but no Biggie it was still really good! All in all a good try & Im glad I tried again, just wish they were open a little later as with all the running around I do and the kids its usually close to 8 when we are sitting down & decide to order, but on earlier nights and we are home hungry, we will def be going back. Customer Service is HUGE to me, I mean C'Mon anyone can make a sandwich & bring it to my house, do it with some personality & Service & you get more points for that! Can't believe it's taken this long and covid for me to find this gem. It's "Beauty and the Beef" is easily my favorite roast beef sandwich in the area, it's unique blend of fried onion strings and horseradish sauce squashes the traditional bbq sauce to set the new bar for roast beef sammiches. It comes with a side of homemade chips, at times it's fried to a perfect crisp, other times it's undercooked with a soft meh texture Other decent options are the homemade meatball and chicken parmesan subs, although the marinara sauce is sometimes too sour or salty. While the steak bomb bomb is tasty, the steak portion could be better and the seasoning consistency can be improved. The prices are reasonable and staff are always friendly.
