The perfect sub for your cheat day
    Jamie C.

The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is very warm and welcoming. The owner Nick is a man of the people. He's the definition of servant leader in the community always willing to help and donate to various charities and organizations in the extended community. Once you walk in you feel like you're in a traditional old style Italian deli there's no frills and thrills just the smell of great food being prepared and smiling faces behind the counter. The best stuffed peppers in the game. I buy several jaws during the holidays as gifts and people go crazy over them. It's like walking into an Italian family's house on Christmas Eve. Every time you go in there.

Lovely people, great food, easy on the pocketbook. What's not to like? Guy behind the counter nicely directed me to a local bakery when I asked for sfogliatelle & he said he didn't have any. Two of us shared a large Italian sub without onions for lunch (which we were told was their best seller.) Sandwich was great and huge! Only downside for us was limited 2hour street parking, but we did find a spot. No indoor seating but there are three tables outside & we ate at one of them. Not exactly a scenic locale but the weather was gorgeous. BTW - my spouse loved the sign on the garbage can so much he took a photo of it.

Vegetarian sub loaded with veggies, olives and cheese

A true find in the Jeffries Point neighborhood, Carmella's has some of the biggest and best authentic Italian deli sandwiches in Boston. Their imported meats and cheeses are the real deal and you can great deals for buying in bulk. My partner regularly gets a caprese sub with bacon (on a recommendation from the friendly sandwich-maker), and I'm a big fan of any sandwich with their asiago cheese. The storefront is small but there is a table with a few seats for the lunch crowd, also a table outside when weather permits. It's also packed with lots of other Italian specialties that make for great gifts around the holidays (the Ferrara Torrone nougats are our family's favorites). Parking is very limited, but they are less than a 10 minute walk from Maverick square and 1 block away from two stops on the 120 bus route.

Looks very authentic inside like a restaurant / deli you might find in Firenze. I decided to order the Italian Sub as they make it; no changes. PRO-TIP: Place an order online for pick-up; walk up, go in the second door (to the left) straight to the counter where you pay and pick up your sandwich which will be ready by the time you get there. I will try this place again; I'm just modifying the sandwich to a version I know I'll love. Side note: The chip selection had some crazy flavors I've never seen before such as "Fried Egg"

If you're in the Boston area, I would consider it a sin NOT to try Bricco's Salumeria. Not joking when I say that my favorite bite experienced during my entire trip to Massachusetts, came from one of the focaccia sandwiches I ordered from Bricco's. I have already made it a point in my mind to hit this spot in the North End of Boston any and EVERY-time I find myself in the Boston area. It truly is an Italian staple and a Boston Classic! I am a sucker for the majority of places that promote and sell to the public the local or imported ingredients and produce that are used in the making of the speciality menu items that make the spot a household name. The bakery is cash only and sells a variety of breads: baguettes, ciabatta, sourdough, & olive bread. In addition to the sfogliatelle, they sell muffins, croissants, and focaccia and muffins. The sfogliatelle was pretty good, the pastry was crispy and flaky and the lemon ricotta filling was very rich and creamy. I would've loved to have a couple loaves of the bread, but there was no way I was going to be able to bring it home as I was already maxed out with my carry ons!

The inside is pretty small so make sure you get a reservation ahead of time. In the warmer months you can sit outside but we sat at the bar since it was too cold outside and the regular seating was all booked up. The bar seating is tight so beware if you have a big jacket or bag with you! We ordered the celery Cesar, cavatelli, and margarita pizza. The celery Cesar was interesting. It's literally thin pieces of celery tossed in Cesar dressing. It immediately reminded me of the small side you get when you order buffalo wings -- not exactly in a good way. The cavatelli was delicious and perfect to split. My friend and I split the salad, pasta and pizza which was great. The portions were just right and this meant for an inexpensive dinner for each of us which you love to hear. The margherita pizza was good but nothing that'll blow you away. The slices are tinyyyy though. My friend took home the pizza leftovers (2 slices) but we almost left them on the plate because that's how small they were. All in all it was a cute spot and I'd be interested in trying other menu items!
