I needed somewhere to develop my disposable camera film but wanted to get digital photos as well and shutterbug offered that. Some places give you the digital on a flash drive but they do it through a Google drive like which I prefer. The employees are SO nice and very helpful. This is a great store. read more

Amazing customer service! I'm really new to photography and being able to come in and have someone teach me how to use the settings on my camera was worth every penny. The staff here are extremely knowledgeable and have a genuine interest in photography. Recently I rented a lens from them for a special event. Due to weather many staff members could not make it in. When I emailed in to see if they might be opening later they actually let me know they weren't but would come in and open so that I could get the lens! That is above and beyond as I can understand why they were closed. If you need anything related to cameras, pictures, etc. this is the best place! read more

Very helpful and professional staff. High quality prints of your favorite photos. If they don't turn out quite right they will usually make another print to get it right. Great selection of Nikon, Canon and Sony cameras. Very good location in Eugene and a few others such as Salem. Good value if you want to trade in a camera when thinking of purchasing a new one. read more

The Shutterbug - Photography Stores & Services Near Me - Eugene, Oregon

I brought in a Tamron lens that was throwing an err1 code at higher focal lengths. I was told that it would take 2 weeks and someone would call me to let me know if they could fix it. After not hearing anything for 4 weeks, I called for an update and was told the guy who did that job was out and that he would be back until that next Friday. I called back on Friday and was told he wasn't in yet, so I asked for him to give me a call. No call, so I called back only to be told they couldn't fix it because there were no parts. They didn't tell me what was wrong with it so I could source the parts myself either from a vendor or a used camera. That was frustrating enough, but read on. I then asked if they had a 70-200mm F/2.8 series II lens used. I was told yes and that they were asking $1200, but that that price was negotiable. It was in Portland, so it would have to be sent to Eugene so I could look at it. I said I was interested. When it arrived, and after I had checked it out, I was told that it was now $1300 and when I tried to negotiate, they would only come down $50. This put me in a bind because I have a shoot this weekend, and I needed that lens. All they would do is offer to rent me a lens. I DO NOT recommend this store read more

The last time I was here at The Shutterbug was March 31, 2020. Joey was so sweet to me, and so were the others. I'm sight challenged, and I'm a sound designer who loooooooooooooooves to make recordings of all kinds. I got an Olympus LS100 recorder on Amazon.com for my birthday in 2019, and I went to The Shutterbug to purchase some extra components to make my setup easy for field recordings. The Targus tripod I got is usually $30, but that day I got it 50%off! I believe the sale was their 40th anniversary sale. On March 31, 2020, I went in to get a rail, as I'm hoping to start using my AKG414 microphones with my field recorder one day. Joey informed me that I would have to come in again to purchase some components that will allow me to hook the shockmounts of my 414's to the rail. In order to diagnose that, he said I'd have to bring my hole setup, recorder, rail, tripod, microphones and accessories, into the store so the employees can determine what extra components I need. Even though Joey's no longer there now (he told me he was getting a job in Internet Security.), he told me the other employees would be more than happy to help next time I come. They're all so friendly to me, since they seem to understand lots about field recordings. One thing I'd like to find out is if they'd be able to make sure my tripod doesn't have any loose parts, as it seems part of it seems to be coming loose now. Hopefully Kyla (I hope I spelled that right), Dave, or any others will be able to assist in making these fixes for me. Fast Forward to November 23, 2022, when my provider, Michelle took me here to fix my Beyerdynamic headphones. I tried to get them fixed at Guitar Center, which was where I went last time they were broken, but someone there now says they don't have anyone who can do that kind of repair work. I think it was Dave who fixed them for me. All he had to do was put new sliders on. It seems the left side is always the one that breaks. This is despite the fact that I'm not even the slightest bit rough with these headphones! I wanna give this fine company more than 5 stars if I could. This was my first experience with Shutterbug and I can't say enough great things about their customer service. I dealt with Joey and Allison, primarily. My very best friend, who was like an older sister to me, passed away recently after a long battle with breast cancer. I wanted to use a picture of us, from when we first met, for her celebration of life. Problem was, it was taken on now obsolete APS Advantix film, and I never had digitized it. Of course, it was on the one roll of film I couldn't find and the printed photo had sun damage. Desperate, I went to Shutterbug to see if they could help. Allison was great and thoroughly explained that while they couldn't retouch the photo in this store, they would send it to the Salem store for free, and I would quickly get a call with a free estimate. While she thought it might not be much more than $20, the actual estimate came back to be $50 to retouch the color on the one photo and I was blown away! Yikes! It WAS a quick turnaround as I dropped the photo off just before the store closed on a Saturday and got a call Monday, as promised, with an estimate. Allison said if I didn't want to pay the $50, I could opt to have the photo sent back and the Coburg store would restore the photo in black and white for free for me, since it was for a memorial service. I chose that option and by Wednesday, it was ready to go. Joey called me and said he took it upon himself to play around with some color retouching on PhotoShop and while it may not be as good as the $50 version, it came out pretty good. He said they'd made two prints of each and there would be no charge for them, seeing as how I needed them for my friend's memorial. And if I brought in a zip drive, he'd load the digital versions on it for me. I was again, blown away, but this time, for the good. When I arrived to pick up the prints, I was so pleased with the work Joey had done for me out of the kindness of his heart. It looked amazing and I couldn't help it, I was brought to tears. While I'm sure this was a very small expense for the store, it meant the world to me and during a tragic time, it's the kindness like this that really makes a local business shine over a large corporation. Customer service like that is worth it's weight in gold! Thank you, Shutterbug staff, so very much for going above and beyond to be so gracious and kind. Folks, please send Shutterbug your business. This review is a long time coming! During my last visit, I spent an hour and a half at this store. Kyla Howie, store manager, was exceedingly helpful, knowledgeable and patient. She has in-depth knowledge of specialized photography gear. Where she didn't have an answer (e.g. a third-party tripod collar compatible with my out-of-production Olympus 50-200 SWD) she was willing to research it and recommend workarounds. At no point was anyone at the store pushy or trying to make a sale. They genuinely wanted to help me. When they had something but it wouldn't have suited my needs, they told me so. In the past I've been helped by Allison - she's been great too! For instance, I do not use a tripod because I need to change locations and angles quickly, but use a 5 lb lens which hurts my back. Kyla let me try out a new kind of monopod that suited me perfectly. She wasn't pushy, but I ended up buying it and it's one of the best investments I've made. I also bought new lens caps, rubber hoods, lens cleaning solution, and more. I also tried out Sony's full-frame cameras and telephoto lenses. In the near future, I will be trading in one of my cameras for an Olympus E-M1 Mark ii, buying a new backpack and ordering dozens of metal and canvas prints. Guess who will be getting my business? My three complaints are: 1) there is no Micro Four Thirds gear in store, 2) they are not a Panasonic dealer, and 3) they do not rent gear. I hope they improve upon this in the future. Photographers have a lot of options for researching and purchasing gear, but there's nothing quite like being able to touch and hold a product and get a feel for it. If you take your craft seriously, and care about the art of photography (with a "real" camera), support your local camera store! read more

It seems to me this Shutterbug location lacks a sales & customer service interface. My phone call experience was short & unhelpful. I explained my camera needs & did have my camera cleaned, but felt they wanted to just get rid of me rather than discuss anything further. I don't recommend the Coburg Rd. location in Eugene. Valley River location might be better, at least phone call to them was a better experience. read more

I walked into Shutterbug knowing nothing about photography or filming, definitely camera's are an expensive toy and I wanted to be pointed in the right direction for my personal needs. Dawn and Joey were more than helpful and knowledgeable pointing me into the right direction after picking their brains for an hour before making a final decision. Even after my purchase two weeks ago, both Dawn and Joey have helped me with the dozens of questions I've had regarding my new Canon T5i. After calling around to every other camera store in the city looking for a basic product, I took a chance by walking in here and they of course had exactly what I needed. Just got back from taking by father who is 90 and a WW2 vet to the coburg rd store. (He had on his tin can sailor hat and it is the day after Memorial Day is why I mention this) he came in on my arm, as walking is difficult. There were two people ahead of us, the first finished promptly and left. The second was taking quite a while. I could hear someone else in the back and the clerk even when back to ask a question,but one one came out to help. So we waited. No chair was offered, another customer came in, still the mystery person in the back did not appear to help. So we waited. Finally the person ahead of us was finished. And we were helped. Just wondering how you plan on staying in business while making people wait when there is obvious help around the corner and ignoring the elderly who could have used a place to sit. read more

Five stars for the amazing customer service we received when coming to buy a new flash for our camera. We were helped over the phone by a very friendly employee who then helped us in person after putting our item on hold in the store. We came in thinking we would only get the flash but decided to rent a lens as well for a wedding we were shooting the next day. The whole process was very well explained and there wasn't a single hiccup with the credit card hold or payment once we returned the lens three days later. If you rent the equipment on a Friday afternoon you don't have to return it until Monday morning and only pay the one day rental fee which is great! The store isn't huge but has some camera accessories, printing information, camera equipment of course and more. If they don't have something you want they can order it for you and we actually got our new flash on sale. I will for sure be coming back to this location next time I need a rental or other camera equipment. read more

First let me say I went to this store instead of going to the one on Valley River Center because of the ratings. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get to this store. Never again do I shop this store. I had called and talked to Joey about a specific camera that he reassured me twice they had it in stock and after getting to the store and making a decision to by the camera which would have been over $500 with the extras I wanted Joey told me no we do not have but only this camera THERE DEMO MODEL I worked retail a number of years and never ever did we consider a demo of anything an in stock item. Not once over the phone did he offer this information and I had driven 1 1/2 hours for this camera and the store had no NEW camera. I contacted the other Shutterbug who had none as well and offered to order it and ship it for an additional $16.95 and I said no way. I wanted to help local businesses but this was not for more. I was going home and order off the internet something I hated to do. It was then suggested I go to Best Buy which I did hoping it would not be a wasted trip to Eugene. At Best Buy I found the camera I wanted same price but out of stock and they said they would order it for me and I would have it in about three days and there would be NO SHIPPING CHARGE. Thank you Best Buy for great customer service. I will see you again in the near future when I need a second camera. No more Shutterbug for me. read more
