Our last experience was so poor that it took us more than 6 years to try this place again and it somehow continued to be a disappointment. While the hostesses were kinder and the waitress nice, we again had to wait too long at our table for service, were rarely checked on, and had an ordered item never arrive. We asked for ketchup -with three people at the table eating burger/sandwich meals- and were provided one little ramekin for everyone; I just had to laugh at it. The food was fine... nothing I could not easily throw together at home. There are plenty of significantly better places with nice atmosphere, patios and live music, I truly don't understand any positive review for this place. We let the birthday boy pick our spot for brunch and this was it! I love the atmosphere. My husband and I agreed that we thought it felt more like we were in Austin with the large outdoor patio and live music. The family style brunch was better than I expected, especially after reading reviews. Our server had such a great personality, which was very much welcomed after how rude the hostess was. I can only imagine that she was either having an off day or genuinely just hates every human being on the planet. She made an entire ordeal after we didn't like the area in which she tried to seat us. We had a ton of rain the day before and the table was nearly flooded out. I really hope the restaurant sees this and has a chat with her because that attitude could have ruined our experience. I apologize that I have no food p0rn to share since we dove right in. Let me tell you about our meal! Frittata - I honestly don't ever order it so I don't know if the consistency is usually similar to that of tofu. Regardless, it tasted decent. Crispy fried chicken - the breading has just the perfect amount of salty and it was everything I want in crispy chicken. Bacon and sausage - the cheesy jalapeño sausage was good and the bacon was just the right amount of crunchy and soft. Hash - super cheesy. To quote my friend: The hash is fire!" Teensy weensy muffins - I could have eaten all of the blueberry ones. French Toast - y'all, it has orange zest in it and it was amazing. I could have also eaten a ton more of it. The food concept is there, but it's not quite hitting the mark. For example, I'd much prefer a nice flaky piece of salmon with micro-greens, tomatoes and fresh tartar sauce on a buttered toasted brioche bun. And a grilled lemon to squeeze on it, instead of a salmon croquette that had no flavor and it did not taste good, which detracts from its potential. However, the Smoked Dip Duo shines -- the smoked brisket, spinach and cheddar fondue, cold pimento dip, and smoked salt potato chips come together beautifully, offering both comfort and creativity. Beyond the menu, The Rustic has a cool vibe and great atmosphere, especially with the outdoor space and live music creates a vibrant and inviting environment that captures the essence of The Rustic's appeal. So good I ate here twice during my last work trip to Dallas! For lunch I got the Joe Leo tacos and when I came back for dinner I got the Beer Can Chicken! The peanut butter pie was also amazing and was great for sharing with my group. I really enjoyed sitting outside and listening to live music on stage. Even thought we were there until closing time, the staff was attentive and provided great service. I definitely recommend to anyone visiting Dallas. read more

It wasn't what we expected. We yelled it and thought was like steak house with baked potatoes and so on. The ambiance reminded me San Diego's Stone Brewery. We order appetizers and it wasn't what we expected and was a lil bland. We let the server know we weren't satisfied and he kindly said he'd remove it, my acquaints wine she said tasted like box wine after that we decided to leave and go else where. We came by here to celebrate my husband's graduation. We are happy that they have a huge parking spot. Being in downtown Dallas, parking could be difficult. At first, we were intimidated because of how country the vibe was. Theres a live music playing and it was nice. But the moment we sat down and our server introduced us to the drinks, we were excited. We first had the spritz and it was delicious. Very fruity drink with some nice carbonation to it. Food: hubby ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. He really enjoyed the brisket as it was cooked beautifully. We split the Mac and cheese and it was a heavenly concoction of creamy cheeseey goodness! Then I ordered the mushroom chop. I was very curious as to how it would turn out and I was impressed. It's pretty much 3-4 portobello mushroom and it tasted like they smoked it and then marinated it in some sort of balsamic based sauce. It was delicious and I haven't had a mushroom tasted that good! We came to the rustic because we missed the one in San Antonio so much! The one in SA was voted to have the cleanest restroom. We were expecting that Dallas will be the same standards, but nope! It was too far from it. The one in uptown Dallas had ripped chairs and flies all over. Bathroom was nasty and food was just bad. Even the chips were destroyed by this place!! We hosted a casual brunch baby shower here and It was perfect! The family style brunch was delicious, so filling, so much food and a great value! I met my bestie for lunch on a Friday afternoon - right before Christmas eve. She had one more dental patient to attend to, so it was a LATE lunch - 2:30. When I entered the Rustic, I was hesitating because I hadn't been there before. The hostess had just walked back up to her little counter after seating someone. I had done a quick check of the place and asked if she had a booth. No, she replied matter-of-factly. I asked her if she knew how long it would be before one opened up. No, she replied again. Why don't managers train front people that they can make a difference in whether I stay or go?? I ignored her indifference to me and told her I don't want to sit on a bench and laughed, to which she said, "I'm not going to sit you at a picnic table". Ugh, no personality. I love the windows here and the seating - casual but with options. There is a stage that opens to the inside but is facing outside, pretty cool. I remember another friend & I tried to come here on a Friday night once & there was a 2hr wait! We didn't... She sat me in the middle of the section and I was immediately greeted by a much different personality - a polite young man who asked if he could get me something to drink. I asked for 2 waters. He brought them promptly, then I was visited by Delaney, who asked if she could get me anything to start with. She was all smiles, but efficient and professional. I told her my friend is running a few minutes late and I'll just look at the menu for a sec. My friend arrived and Delaney was back so we decided on the cactus fries. They were served nice and fresh - hot greasy batter on sliced cactus - dip it in the great ranchy dip & it doesn't get any better, lol. We both ordered drinks - I was dying to try the Spicy Gold Rush made with Knob Creek Rye - one my faves - and they didn't disappoint! I had a 2nd and can't wait to return to try more from the bar area. My buddy ordered the Lynchburg sour - and great news, we got there in time for happy hour at 3pm!! You can't beat a great drink for $3.24! Since it was late for lunch, we both ordered a light lunch, a half-sandwich with salad. Boring.. I wanted the quail, although I know that can be tricky, but I didn't want to ruin dinner. I ordered a half club sandwich, it was really good. But I'm a girly-girl and had to eat it with a knife & fork - too messy for me, lol. The salad was amazing - it had little bits of freshly chopped jalapeno which really complimented my drink. But be aware in case you don't like spicy. I loved my salad but can't wait to go back for some real food. Our server knocked that hostess out of there in terms of attentiveness, professionalism and friendliness. She checked on us often, made suggestions, had a great sense of humor and made us feel welcome. We are world travelers and I can be pretty picky about my service. Never coming back. It used to have such a great service. The last 2 times we've been here have been opportunities to go back to loving it but it keeps getting worst. Tonight it took them over 30 minutes to bring me a cocktail. It took 45 minutes to get the food and one dish got forgotten; our out-of-town guest got her food after all of us had finished our dinner. All the special requests were ignored. The manager stands by the door looking at the place like the owner of a casino looking at everyone over the shoulder, oblivious to what is going on. Great place to eat brunch while a solo artist serenades you. The most common brunch is a family-style affair. It's basically a pre-fix brunch that they bring out all at once. A crustless quiche (country baked eggs) with a side of spinach salad, jalapeño and cheese polenta cakes with sausage gravy, fresh toast, link sausage, bacon, avocado toast, mini muffins and a cheese and fruit plate. It was more than enough food for the four of us. One star off for the slow and inattentive service. I expect that they may have assigned our waitress more tables than she could handle. But it's a great place to meet and reconnect with old friends (which we did). And they didn't harass us for staying there as long as we did. I would happily return. We sat inside but the outside seating looked really cool. It's hot in Texas, but we'll ask for outside seating next time we come here. And you get a better view of the stage performer that way, too. Good vibes here. Fun food. We didn't drink but they had mimosa, bloody mary and other brunch alcohol by the glass or by the pitcher. They also had french press coffee, and a nice cold brew. Three stars. It's not the most awesome place we have ever been but it's also not the worst place we have ever been. This place looks just like its name. Very Rustic on the inside. Almost gave me a barn type feel. Let's start with the service. Our party of seven got waters to start with but our server only brought out five. We had to ask for the other two. I got a drink and it took about 10 minutes to be dropped off at the table. Every time we had a question about the menu, our server would answer said question, but then would leave us and not come back for another 7-10 minutes. If you are coming on a weekend before three pm, they only offer brunch items and those items are very limited. Saturdays and Sundays brunch is offered from open until 3pm. The brunch menu can be found on the right hand side of the menu pic posted below. Brunch is $17.95 a person but is a pretty nice spread. Spicy fried chicken, eggs had spinach mixed and were more like a quiche. Potatoes were cheesy and shredded. Sliced sausage was good. Had a little bit of spice to it which made it that much better. The bacon could have been cooked a little better. Was just a touch too tough. You get a little fruit assortment and two slices of cheese. French toast with rosemary infused syrup. Very interesting flavor to say the least. Now, the reason for the three stars. In the brunch column, there is an area for drinks. There is one price listed for ONE drink which gives you the impression that this is the price for ALL drinks in that particular area. That is not the case. The price that is listed, is for that drink and that drink only. This was not explained to us but when we questioned it, our server lied and said it WAS. So when we got our tab, the carafe of mimosa actually cost $13.95 and not the $6.95 that was originally discussed with the server. We were charged for two kids drinks but we only have one daughter. The charge for a kids drink was also not disclosed to us. She didn't even order anything from the kids menu. She's two. All in all, it's not bad but not the best. We had a 1:45 PM lunch reservation on a Thursday. I was very excited for our out of town guests to experience your restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted by an unenthusiastic hostess that informed us that we had 15 minutes to place our order including dessert because the kitchen was closing at 2pm and that we would need to hurry and eat and be gone by 3pm. We felt like a burden to your staff and wish we would have made the decision not to stay. The food was good but the experience was not. My boss made reservations nearly 2 weeks in advance. Apparently reservations were not a priority at this establishment. When he finally complained, the hostess kept rolling her eyes. So he got a manager involved. We were finally seated about 35 minutes after our reservation time. We ordered several orders of onion ring appetizers. They came out after the entrees. Over half the table was finished eating before the last two entrees finally came out. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was average. Man I do not even know where to start. We walked in a party of 6 and had an additional 3 people joining and the hostess had a hard time seating us. Said she would have to see mind you this place was empty only two tables were being used. Finally after 10 minutes we were able to have a place. The waitress came over to our table she was nice took our drink order. Then came back and took our order. We placed our order at 610pm. Our other party joined and they placed their order. Never received their drinks. A coworker asked about them and was given attitude. 720 rolls around and still no food. I asked about it and was told I don't know. I said well can you ask. Never heard anything back. Then our waitress came back I told her I wanted to speak with the manager. I also wanted to know where our food was time passes manager never came out and our food all came out separately not all at once I asked again for the manager asking a total of three times she said that he already came out. I said no, he didn't finally he came out. I explained everything that happened not one apology and still had not received all of our food one of my coworkers ordered a burger to be well done that burger was raw like really raw blood all over the plate again no apologies. One of my other coworkers never received his crabcakes. Another coworker didn't receive two of his items. No mind you. We're going on over an hour. Each person's ticket was a minimum of $40 didn't get one apology and nothing comped. I would highly recommend that you stay away from this establishment if it's a small group maybe but even then there's a difference between customer service and hospitality. This restaurant failed miserably way overpriced for the quality of food so disappointed not a good way to start off a business trip when we're gonna be here for two weeks will not ever be back. read more
