I had my first visit to Trees a couple weeks ago when I went to the Mick Jenkins concert. It was a great show and Trees is an interesting space. It's kind of a small, narrow concert venue. Because of its space layout and narrow width of the room, there is no bad spot in the house, save for maybe in the corners of the balcony which may give obstructed view. I was also very pleased with the acoustics in the room. The sound system and quality was great! I was impressed with this as the sound in similar venues can be hit or miss. There's street parking, paid lots nearby, and a parking lot right next to the venue for $20 cash. I'd definitely return to Trees for another concert. read more

Started off a little poorly with customer service at the door and didn't get better while I was waiting at the empty bar for the bar tender to just ignore me. I didn't get a chance to order a drink so I can't say how are their prices and pours. I will say this venue has always structurally been a favorite of mine. They have a giant fan and even in 105° weather the inside is cool. Pretty close quarters if you've never been inside. The lighting for the stage is incredible and the "canopy" of LEDS and pillars designed like trunks is a design detail I love about Trees. The show was Sevit, Urban Heat, Rosegarden Funeral Party, and Vision Video. An all around good time of talent and amazing sound. read more

This venue is awesome. Always has the best underground/up-and-coming artists. I love the vibe here, no matter what show you are watching. Hip hop/rap, r&b, punk rock, hardcore, metal.. always a good show at Trees. Great prices, the bar tenders give great service and the security is always on their A game for safety precautions. read more

Trees is my all time favorite venue, I've been going on and off since 2003. I've seen all sorts of shows here, DMX, Corey Taylor, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Vanilla Ice, Fozzy, Rehab, Hed PE,Twiztid, Kotton Mouth Kings, Sir Mix-a-lot and most recently Canadian rapper Sonreal. I love the updates that have been made over the years, the staff is always professional, show them respect and they're cool. Don't test the security guys, I've seen too many people mess around and find out. The place has so much history, the infamous Nirvana show, Post Malone's first sold out show and even an episode of Walker Texas Ranger was filmed there. read more

And I was punished for their terrible, disrespectful security. Their management then called me a liar even though I had the front door man vouching for me. This place is really cool! My husband and I came here to see Echosmith! I really enjoyed the show. Its a nice place where it is easy to get up near the front of the stage and have a really good view of the acts. It is called trees because actual trees are inside the building. The staff is friendly, the crowd is chill, the restrooms are clean. Drinks are not horrible prices. You can't really ask for much else! read more

If you're handicapped don't even bother. I bought tickets to the Scary Kids Scaring Kids show on 03/05/22 the day of the concert. I tried contacting Trees all day. I called every half hour, my friend left a message and I sent an email about obtaining handicapped seats as I am handicapped. Upon arrival, the person at the front sent me to the bar to talk to the bartender about the seats. I go to talk to the bartender, who was extremely rude, and he first points to the left side of the stage and tells me it's handicapped accessible. As I glance over, there was a person in their wheelchair, but no actual chairs. Then he tells me that they do not nor do they ever have handicapped seating (as him and another bartender chuckled to each other). I then asked if i could just go sit on the balcony and he said no and told me no one was up there when in fact there were a lot of people on the balcony and I even saw a few free chairs. I am beyond disappointed as I was looking forward to this concert. I'm so upset because the last time I saw a show here I was accommodated and this time they laughed in my face and it made me feel so unwelcome here. I read on the website that they do have limited ADA spots and that we would have to arrive and speak with a Trees staff member for details. I don't understand why I couldn't have been offered 1 chair to sit next to my party so that I could enjoy the night with them instead I had to leave. It felt as though they looked at me and thought I was lying. I offered proof of being handicapped as well. They laughed in my face, because I don't look handicapped?? Not everyone that's handicapped has to be in a wheelchair or "appear" handicapped. I am embarrassed, humiliated, and disgusted with how I was treated in front of my friends. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Nice intimate venue with VERY strong AC. We came here with a friend to see a nostalgic 80s hair metal bill of Faster Pussycat and Bang Tango and had a fun time. This place felt reminiscent of clubs in LA like The Troubadour or The Roxy (maybe a tad bit bigger and cleaner), which are some of my favorite venues--you get great views of the stage from pretty much anywhere. Being Dallas in July means it's HOT, therefore, we really appreciated the arctic-level AC in this place. I was actually getting a little chilly before the place filled up and the crowd got some body heat going. Drink prices were reasonable and the bartenders friendly; I wouldn't hesitate to see another show here the next time I'm in town! read more

Came her for the bad bunny dj and while the dj was great the workers here suck. One of the bar tenders was on a power trip and decided to kick our group out because he wasnt tiping on every round of shots. Got him on a video hitting my phone out my hands. First and last time coming here. Bought tickets to get kicked out for not tipping on every round LOL. read more

It's hard for me to dislike any venue this small. Trees is wonderfully intimate and without pretense. It's a dark little box that holds fewer than 1,000 people. We went by when doors opened and there was a line, but there was no line about an hour later when the show (opener #1) started. Getting in was a breeze and hassle-free. There is no designated parking for this venue. Find a lot nearby - there are plenty within 2-3 blocks. We paid $5 when we went. Not sure if they're always $5 or not... When we got back to the car (around 2 AM), it wasn't on blocks and had all windows intact. So hey, that's good. No other cars on blocks or glass all over the ground either. Also good. Hopefully that's the norm. Still, I wouldn't leave a nice car in a Deep Ellum lot like this one at night. Lots of nearby restaurants and bars and places to pre-game. Drinks at Trees are very pricey, so pre-gaming is recommended. Aldo, other folks have said water is bottled only, which I did not verify since I didn't want to be pissed off at being deprived of this basic necessity. I just drank plenty of water ahead of time. So... heads up... There's the main standing-room-only floor and there's an upstairs loft. I'd say there's not a bad seat in the house since it's so small, but towards the back of the loft might be meh and there are pillars ("trees") in the middle of the room. So don't get stuck behind a tree. :) Sound was really my only knock against this place. It was pretty lackluster. Try to be in between the front main speakers for balance. That helped a little. Still not great. The bass was definitely turned up too much - not well balanced. But for me, being so up close and personal made up for it. Great energy. Love small venues. The other perk of small venues like this, of course, is meeting bands after the show. Done and done. We had a great night. I think I prefer Southside Ballroom for grittiness and better sound, but Trees is smaller and I'd definitely see a show here again. read more

I just saw Kimbra here and it was a great show. Deep Ellum has changed a lot since I used to frequent it in like 2005, but Trees overall feels the same, which makes me happy. You know I love nostalgia. It's still the same intimate space with inconveniently placed faux tree trunks, a bar in the back, and an upstairs with couches and a few bar tables and chairs. The bar is very basic with a few beers and basic liquor, meh. But you don't come to Trees to have a top tier drink, you come for a good show. Have a drink across the street at the Armory -- their cocktails are delicious! The bartenders are speedy and friendly, the bathrooms are relatively clean considering how many people use them in the span of a few hours, and the enormous ceiling fan keeps the crowded room cool and breezy. read more

It only took me a year after the re-opening to come back to Trees. The place looks just like it used to, just a little shinier. The sound is a lot better. Great job on that! I was here last week for Thrill Kill Kult and Lords of Acid. It was a loud concert. Duh. Sounded great, though. I'm not sure what's up with music venues having bathroom attendants, especially with just three stalls. But when I couldn't get the door to lock I was happy she was there to hold the door closed for me. Too bad I didn't have any cash to tip (sorry lady). I'd probably give this place 4 stars, but one of the bartenders absolutely ruined it for me. I waited almost 15 minutes to get a stupid beer. The bartender waited on everyone except me. On people that walked up after I was there. He even made eye contact with me a couple of times. I'm not one to make a scene or be confrontational, so I didn't say anything, but I was getting aggravated. Then out of nowhere a handsome bald bartender (wish I would have gotten his name) came up asking if I had been helped, so I finally got that beer I had been eyeing. As any frequent reviewer of my posts know, I like to periodically (annually) re-review my reviews as things can change. Sometimes businesses close, get bad, or sometimes, better. This is one of those posts. Yes, I know I've been bad about checking in, but I just had a son, so I've been a bit busy. Plus, since the Pandemic, we've been getting deliveries from here more than actually picking stuff up. Due to COVID-19, a lot of their upcoming events have been postponed or rescheduled. You should regularly check their site and social media platforms for updates. Don't just show up! As I said in my previous review, I've been coming here since I was a wee lad. I have some great memories of this place. The drinks are strong, the bands are great, and the venue is "intimate." Well, maybe "intimate" isn't the right word; perhaps, small is more appropriate. This place is only slightly bigger than a bar with a stage, which means that every spot is a great spot. It also means that, unless you're on the balcony, it's standing room only. And, if there is a popular band on the stage, the place will be packed, and I mean packed. You'll know what a sardine feels like, which means if you're sensitive to heat or confined spaces, Trees may not be the place you want to see your favorite band. I've literally had to carry friends out of this place because they passed out, and security told me that it's pretty common. If your favorite band blows up, you'll be happy you got to be this close. Plus, getting crushed by hundreds of screaming fans as your favorite band plays is a right of passage. (The pandemic makes this sound horrifying.) The sound system is always spot on, and I've never thought the sound system had issue. Lighting is also well done, and bands are able to put on a visually interesting show. The staff are usually pretty cool, as long as you're not acting crazy. And, the bartenders are generous, if you treat them right. Security is generally courteous, and they do their best to make sure everyone is safe. But, if you start acting crazy, you may get a left hook to your face and dragged out. The intimate nature of Trees though means that you often get a chance to hang out with the bands after the show. If you eat at one of the pizza joints nearby, you may spot some band members eating before the show. It's not often you get those "chance" meetings, but it's cool when they happen, and they seem to happen more often around Trees than any other venue I've been to. (The pandemic makes this unlikely now.) As it's in Dallas though, the parking can be challenging, so get there early and be prepared to pay. Or, maybe just Uber/Lyft there so that you can have more fun and drink responsibly. Do I recommend this place? Yes. Trees is a great venue, and I recommend it. read more

We went for the Nekrogoblikon concert and had VIP tickets. Last minute, they pushed the show back by three hours. We didn't know that and arrived at the original scheduled time. Their website still reflected the original time and nothing was announced on social media. When we asked the staff about the VIP access area, the staff member aggressively told us that the show starts later. We stood there for less than two minutes looking at our emails to see if there was a change made. That same staff member marched up to us again cursing us out and telling us to leave immediately. This was my first experience at Trees, and I'll never go back. read more

I went to see a Day 26 concert and there is tons of space. It is your typical concert venue. I did notice that they had a pretty large bar area that seemed to serve pretty good drinks. I was just happy that I got in line early enough to be in the front of the stage! You would never know by looking at it, walking the streets of Deep Ellum that the place would be as big and roomy as it is. Great surprise. I would recommend subscribing to their website. They have shows that are not well publicized but everyone enjoys. I just stumbled on their website one day, and found the Day 26 reunion concert splashed on the front page. the best part is the tickets are affordable for any budget. Honestly had never been to this venue and was very surprised. Parking, unlike many areas of Deep Ellum, is easy and convenient. The stage is large but you just need to get there in time to get a good spot. Bar is good too, with a great choice of house liquors to choose from. I hate winding through Deep Ellum to get here, but that may be because this isn't my hood so I don't know the back ways. read more

First time at Trees; saw Stiff Little Fingers/Avengers. I was impressed with the venue. The show was not crowded so there was plenty of room on the floor to get a close view of the bands. The sound seemed good. The beer price, while not necessarily a bargain, was not excessive for a venue of this sort ($5.50 for a Lone Star tallboy.). I bought a ticket to the Lucy Dacus concert (9/17/21) at Trees Dallas in Deep Ellum and I was unaware of any vaccine mandates when I bought my ticket from the ticket exchange and I did not see any notice of mandates on the original place where tickets were sold (AXS). I was in line and they would not let me in because I am unvaccinated and don't have a vaccine card, they did not even offer to let me use my mask as an option. I have been going to this venue for DECADES. And last night was the worst time I have had at any place EVER. I went with my daughter, who is a minor. I went to the bar and bought a beer for me and a mixed drink for her. Something that is legal to do in the state of Texas. The bartender watched me give the drink to her, because, we were at a table near the bar. She finished her drink and threw the cup in the trash. I went to the bathroom and left my beer on the table. When I returned, I was told by others in our party that my daughter had been thrown out. I went outside and told the door man that I had bought the drink for her. He told me that even though Texas law allows this, their bar does not. I asked how I was supposed to know this, and promised she would not have any more drinks. The headlining band had not even started. My daughter was not intoxicated. I was not intoxicated. We just wanted to return back to the show, and they were not budging I am 48 years old and have been a patron of this bar for nearly 30 years. I will NEVER GO BACK read more

Finally made it to this live music venue when we saw Butch Walker. Trees ROCKS! It's not big but for me that's part of what makes it so great. If you like to be up close and personal with your favorite performer then come here. We were so close that I felt like I was part of the band. Good club, located right on Elm smack in the middle of Deep Ellum. This is an intimate setting, maybe room for 700-800 fans. Stage front is SRO and the only seating is up on the balcony area with about 20 stools but plenty of comfy couches if you're okay with just listening and not watching. Sight-lines are poor but sound is good and the staffers I met were friendly. Sound system is decent but not amazing. Stage is a bit narrow and not that deep so you won't see a ton of onstage action by the performers. VIP area is facing right side of stage and quite narrow with maybe enough viewing spaces for 10-15 people max. Prices are usually quite reasonable and ticket surcharges are fair as well. Good sized private lot parking is available in the back for a small charge ($5 for our show). Overall, a decent venue to catch your favorite band in the big D. read more

So when I heard that Joan was playing a show there again, my friends and I were pumped! 2 days in after tickets went on sale, the ticketing website (AXS) was saying "There are currently no tickets available" ...no way it was already sold out. So I called the venue and left a voicemail. Just a few hours later I received a call and text message from a kind gentleman. He got in touch with someone & the ticketing website (AXS) was good to go the following day for me to purchase tickets! Tree's is one of my favorite places to see a show/concert. If your favorite band is playing here, you must realize you're going to have a great time. The fact is, I've never had VIP, because I didn't need to. The sound system is incredible. The drinks are great and then there's the large outdoor area, which is where you will be before & after the show. Last year I saw Mobb Deep and I was practically dropping a verse on stage. I was front and center during the whole show. Last week I saw the soulful Charles Bradley and once again, I was close enough to practically play trumpet with the band. Your favorite tasty beverage is served quickly with out any delay. Recently I've noticed food trucks outside. I'm not sure if the food trucks were just for a special event or if they are hosting them on a regular basis. Either way.. the food trucks are a awesome addition. Parking can be challenging, there is a $5 lot behind the venue, but there are plenty of $10 parking lots on Elm street that are always trying to flag you down. If your favorite band is playing at Tree's.. buy a ticket and bring a friend. You're guaranteed to have a good time. read more

Was having a fun night with friends and family at a show here and some lady starts talking to my friend(just talking not flirting) and her husband or boyfriend gets mad and comes after my friend. I step in the middle to try to calm the situation down and the next thing I know I get grabbed with 2 hands by my throat and pulled out of the bar by my throat. An investigation needs to be done about this as I did nothing to warrant a physical altercation much less being choked and pulled out of the bar. The bouncer either needs to be fired or the place needs to be shut down before he hurts or kills someone with his idiotic and reckless actions!! I will never be back and will be informing everyone I know about this horrible establishment read more

Was here on 10/3/2015 for Years & Years + I don't understand why there was a line to get in when we were there relatively early (arrived around 8:30pm, when doors opened at 7:00pm and it wasn't crowded inside) + There are tables and seats in the balcony area which I think some (if not all) can be reserved + Bathrooms on both top and bottom floor, yes!! + Bartenders were attentive and quick + The sound was pretty good for a small venue +/- Parking was quite difficult because The Bomb Factory also had a big show going, so I had to resort to street parking, but everything in Deep Ellum is so close together that I won't complain about walking a few blocks - If you have a ticket stub, you can get in and skip the line. If you printed a ticket you bought online, you have to wait in the regular line. I don't understand why the latter applies, but it didn't take long to get inside, so no real complaints read more

In the many years I've lived here I've never been to Trees. I finally got my turn last night as a friend from high school was playing there to compete for an Edge Fest spot. They had several bands (with no cover) that played up to three songs each and you were to vote for your favorite. I heard a wide variety of bands and I have to say the sound was amazing. I agree with CN, the speakers will rip your clothes off. They were so loud, I actually felt my heartbeat beat back to the bass. The place was great in that the crowd was well blended and I didn't feel out of place at all. The bar served me up one strong cocktail, but be leery of using credit. They have a $10 minimum (can't use tip to get there), so pay cash if you only want one drink...which I doubt you'll want to do anyways. But now you know. read more

Trees: small and intimate, I love it! I came here when XXYYXX and Shlohmo had their concert back in November and had such a great time. Trees was the perfect venue for this kind of show! I love EDM music and the blast of the bass really hits you in the face whilst in here, literally. It made my eyes close, a lot. The drinks served here are definitely affordable, I ordered a Malibu and pineapple cocktail and only amounted to $7 - which I thought was pretty cheap. Dallas bevvy experts may tell me otherwise as I'm quite ignorant with price points relativity in the USA... For the concert, we sat upstairs at VIP at the very front where it overlooked the stage, it was perfect - super close to the sound system too so by the end of the night, our ears were definitely ringing. Had such a blast here at the Mickey Avalon show. It's a small enough venue that you really get to see the show and feel like you're a part of it (even crammed in with hundreds of sweaty people as everyone presses against the stage). However, it's also big enough that a decent crowd can get in, and you don't get shanked on ticket prices. Others that have complained about the staff, I don't get it. The staff was totally cool there, bartenders were nice and poured pretty well, just don't be a jerk to them and enjoy yourself! Also, please wear deodorant for the sake of everyone around you. What a cool, fun venue! I came here on a Wednesday night to see Gin Wigmore (who is awesome by the way), and I loved the atmosphere. It was chill. There was room to move. Everyone was just happy to be there and were having a great time. A really fun way to spend a normal weekday night. :) Also, I was looking around at their upcoming shows, and there were some big names coming through. I'm intrigued to how pack or crazy those concerts would be. I feel like it would still be a blast though. read more
