Sandaga is in my steady rotation of Dallas hangouts. Andre W. put me on a while ago and I'm glad he did. I'm there at least one a week. Some nights are a little dry others are shoulder to shoulder depending on who's performing and day of the week. On any given evening you might catch Serra Bellum (aka Badulla Oblongata), Jidenna or more often local artists performing during open night. The band is amazing every single time even though the members rotate. They mostly play Jazz, Hip Hop and R&B. If you're brave enough to grace the stage, the band will play whatever you want. .. even your original music. Just pull it up on your phone. They'll listen for all of 10 seconds before playing by ear as if it were their song! Truly talented group of musicians. Stick to hard liquor and a chaser, or maybe a beer. This isn't a place for craft cocktails, but the bartenders pour heavy and the drinks are reasonably priced. There's a BBQ food truck that posts up in the back if you're hungry. I think hookah is an option too. Stop in and support the local talent if you get a chance. Cover is $10 unless there's a special event.

New to Dallas and wanted to try a spot that a coworker recommended..... when I say it's a WHOLE VIBE!!! I had soooo much fun!! No dance floor but I was good dancing where I was. I'm bringing my girlfriends that are coming in town.

If you're fan of jazz (and I mean artists such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, etc.) this is the place to be Tuesday night! Sandaga813 is an awesome place to chillax, enjoy an adult beverage and listen to some talented musicians play some great sounds. Seating is somewhat limited but that doesn't interfere with hearing some great sounds; some pieces are covers of existing recordings while many others are originals written by one of the musicians. If live jazz isn't your think, you're still in luck on Tuesday nights as on the patio (weather permitting) there is a DJ playing acid jazz. The patio is a nice size and has ample seating. Also, food is available for purchase on the patio courtesy of Triple D BBQ. And this BBQ is the real deal. On a recent visit I discovered that Sandaga 813 now has smooth jazz on Thursday night. Being one who appreciates live jazz I stopped by and was not disappointed with what I heard. So if smooth jazz (think Bob James, Keiko Matsui, David Sanborn, Joyce Cooling, Boney James, George Benson, etc.) is more to your liking then definitely check out a Thursday night set. There is a small cover charge at the door to get but it worth every penny. Also, there is a bar with reasonably priced drinks. Lastly, the crowd on Tuesday/Thursday night is diverse with people from all walks of life. So there's no need to be concerned with feeling 'out of place'. At the end of the day everyone is there for the music. Lastly, if jazz isn't your thing, no worries- on other nights of the week Sandaga 813 offers a variety of music which include DJs who play everything from R&B, Hip-Hop and reggae. I have not attended any of the non-jazz nights so I cannot comment on the setup, etc.

Wow!!! This place is amazing. I was very last minute in planning a friends birthday party as the location was an hour from my home but it was well worth it. I placed a request for seating and was almost contacted immediately by Ms. Carmen! She was very attentive to my needs and accommodated all of my requests. The staff had everything in order prior to my arrival and I didn't have to lift a finger. The waitress was impeccable. She is such a class act. The crowd got very large and she was able to keep up with all of our orders and returned in a timely manner. The band was amazing! They kept us all engaged throughout the night. I especially enjoyed them having 2 lead singers. Their energy was superb and my friends and I were definitely in a soulful trance! The patio was nice and warm and the dj played great music. It was definitely a different vibe so you could get the best of both worlds between Hip Hop and R&B all in one place. This venue is definitely added to our list for girls night out! Thank you to the Sandaga813 staff for this amazing experience. You all are in a league of your own!

Love, Love, Love! I am so happy to finally return to watching live music performances! The jazz band that played last Thursday night was amazing! There were tons of good looking people in the spot to make sure you look cute if you're single and looking to mingle! I would certainly return!

Very cool space. Only issue is drink prices are high. The patio is very nice. Like the paintings on the interior walls.

There is plenty of room to dance and also sit. If you want bottles service for those very busy sold out shows, it's more for convenience of not having to go to the bar and to have a home base to sit if needed. Definitely not the VIP pretentious typical bottle service. Otherwise regular tickets are just as great! Were here to dance, right? Staff is always kind, welcoming and friendly. They also do have a job to do, so there are times they have to be firm and they are not about the riff raff. Respect them and the club and they will respect you. This is a club that remembers why we go out in the first place. This spot strips away all the superficial nonsense of the typical nightlife scene--there's no dress code to stress over and no "gatekeeper" energy. It's a rare, comfortable, no-frills atmosphere where a shared love for the music is the only thing that matters. This isn't a place to "be seen"; it's a space to be yourself. Whether you're a pro dancer or just vibrating in the corner, nobody is judging your style or your outfit. It's pure, unfiltered energy. If you want to dance like nobody is watching with a room full of people doing the exact same thing, you've found home. Go for the sound, stay for the community. Come as you are and come to dance.

It's like they're always switching it up which gets really confusing when you want to go to a place based on music alone. Punk Society is small, dark and has the worst photo booth in Dallas. The drinks are weak and there's more seating than places to dance. But I can vibe with Punk because of the three points below. 1. The music is always consistent. Whether its Friday or Saturday, if you want to hear hip hop, then you're going to hear hip hop. You don't have to second guess the tunes because there's a Comic-Con fest in town. 2. Relatively clean bathrooms. Sure, there are only about 4 WC's total but they always seem to be tidy. 3. Girls run the WORLD. A few words of advice...if you're a woman and you're about 2-3 lades deep, the bouncer will let you skip the lines. Typically this will happen anywhere in Dallas but it happens on the regular at PS. The lines don't get too crazy but when it does, this tactic comes in handy. It's a nightmare when it's packed, but there's a couple of cool incentives about this place. A bit of a younger crowd but you'll manage. To sum it all up, Punk Society is a slightly sophisticated hip-hop club with a mixed crowd. It's a good time as long as you take it for what it is. More of a 3.5 establishment but I'm feeling gracious.

He made sure we were seated in an area where we could get the maximum amount of air conditioning, as it was a little warm inside, but still very lovely overall. Kennady, the bartender, was wonderful from the moment I arrived for the reservation. Even though I had dined there many times before, she still took the time to go over the menu thoroughly. This was not previously my favorite location, but it quickly became my new favorite because of the level of service we received. Lexi (Alexa), our server, was awesome quick, sincere, and friendly. The food came out perfectly, and everyone truly enjoyed everything. We absolutely enjoyed both the food and the downstairs service. However, when we decided to experience the rooftop area, the experience unfortunately declined. The servers upstairs refused to serve us directly and made two members of our party go downstairs just to place a drink order. Additionally, when we asked for the restaurant's plastic blinds to be closed to keep us from getting soaked by the rain, there was hesitation, and we were told it would become too hot. While we understood the concern, our request was simply to avoid getting wet from the rain. Overall, despite the disappointing upstairs experience, the service downstairs, the food, and the hospitality from Tucker, Kennady, and Lexi made the visit an excellent one. Would I come back? YES! Would I recommend? YES!
