Sandaga is in my steady rotation of Dallas hangouts. Andre W. put me on a while ago and I'm glad he did. I'm there at least one a week. Some nights are a little dry others are shoulder to shoulder depending on who's performing and day of the week. On any given evening you might catch Serra Bellum (aka Badulla Oblongata), Jidenna or more often local artists performing during open night. The band is amazing every single time even though the members rotate. They mostly play Jazz, Hip Hop and R&B. If you're brave enough to grace the stage, the band will play whatever you want. .. even your original music. Just pull it up on your phone. They'll listen for all of 10 seconds before playing by ear as if it were their song! Truly talented group of musicians. Stick to hard liquor and a chaser, or maybe a beer. This isn't a place for craft cocktails, but the bartenders pour heavy and the drinks are reasonably priced. There's a BBQ food truck that posts up in the back if you're hungry. I think hookah is an option too. Stop in and support the local talent if you get a chance. Cover is $10 unless there's a special event.

New to Dallas and wanted to try a spot that a coworker recommended..... when I say it's a WHOLE VIBE!!! I had soooo much fun!! No dance floor but I was good dancing where I was. I'm bringing my girlfriends that are coming in town.

If you're fan of jazz (and I mean artists such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, etc.) this is the place to be Tuesday night! Sandaga813 is an awesome place to chillax, enjoy an adult beverage and listen to some talented musicians play some great sounds. Seating is somewhat limited but that doesn't interfere with hearing some great sounds; some pieces are covers of existing recordings while many others are originals written by one of the musicians. If live jazz isn't your think, you're still in luck on Tuesday nights as on the patio (weather permitting) there is a DJ playing acid jazz. The patio is a nice size and has ample seating. Also, food is available for purchase on the patio courtesy of Triple D BBQ. And this BBQ is the real deal. On a recent visit I discovered that Sandaga 813 now has smooth jazz on Thursday night. Being one who appreciates live jazz I stopped by and was not disappointed with what I heard. So if smooth jazz (think Bob James, Keiko Matsui, David Sanborn, Joyce Cooling, Boney James, George Benson, etc.) is more to your liking then definitely check out a Thursday night set. There is a small cover charge at the door to get but it worth every penny. Also, there is a bar with reasonably priced drinks. Lastly, the crowd on Tuesday/Thursday night is diverse with people from all walks of life. So there's no need to be concerned with feeling 'out of place'. At the end of the day everyone is there for the music. Lastly, if jazz isn't your thing, no worries- on other nights of the week Sandaga 813 offers a variety of music which include DJs who play everything from R&B, Hip-Hop and reggae. I have not attended any of the non-jazz nights so I cannot comment on the setup, etc.

Wow!!! This place is amazing. I was very last minute in planning a friends birthday party as the location was an hour from my home but it was well worth it. I placed a request for seating and was almost contacted immediately by Ms. Carmen! She was very attentive to my needs and accommodated all of my requests. The staff had everything in order prior to my arrival and I didn't have to lift a finger. The waitress was impeccable. She is such a class act. The crowd got very large and she was able to keep up with all of our orders and returned in a timely manner. The band was amazing! They kept us all engaged throughout the night. I especially enjoyed them having 2 lead singers. Their energy was superb and my friends and I were definitely in a soulful trance! The patio was nice and warm and the dj played great music. It was definitely a different vibe so you could get the best of both worlds between Hip Hop and R&B all in one place. This venue is definitely added to our list for girls night out! Thank you to the Sandaga813 staff for this amazing experience. You all are in a league of your own!

Love, Love, Love! I am so happy to finally return to watching live music performances! The jazz band that played last Thursday night was amazing! There were tons of good looking people in the spot to make sure you look cute if you're single and looking to mingle! I would certainly return!

No frills but a good time. A great place for a birthday celebration. There's karaoke and a nice set up at that. They also serve hookah. The DJ was spinning. Nice lighting. The bartender hooked me up with some really delicious cocktails. Yes she was a real bartender/mixologist she came up with some drinks based off my preferences and they came out just right. The drinks are reasonably priced. I also had their wings and fries. Loved the crust on the wings it was crispy and flaky. The fries were real long hand cut fries. Again reasonably priced. They do add gratuity which is something I really can't stand. I noticed that certain establishments do this and I think it is really low class to do that. To assume that the type of patrons you attract are not the ones that like to tip is again low class. I am a very good tipper and I don't appreciate someone adding something for me. It kills the vibe because while you are taking 18% I might have thought you did an amazing job and wanted to give you 25%. I am not going to point out the places that do this but there is a certain demographic and I don't visit those places after I see how they nickel and dime you for things that are standard at other establishments. With all that being said I really think this is a nice spot that I would like to visit again. Just a night out with the girls.
