I have seen countless great shows at the Granada through the years. Heck I remember seeing movies here when I was a kid (saw a 3D movie with the glasses - maybe some kind of creature from the black lagoon or something - yeah I'm old!). Sound is always good. I like the staggered standing levels. If you want to get into the action up front you can do it but I prefer to be in the second level which is close but I don't have to worry about a mosh pit or anything. A few different bars - lobby or just inside the theater to keep you hydrated. Parking can be easy on Greenville in certain places if you know where to look although as new restaurants are opening nearby I'm gonna lose my go-to parking. Love that the CD World owner bought this place years ago and made it such a great venue. Also love that it's in my hood. read more

I'm always finding fun and free things to do in DFW, and this one is a gem. I've been twice and had a blast both times. Doors open at 6 PM, so get there early unless you want to be part of the overflow squad. But honestly, even overflow isn't tragic. If you miss the rooftop, you can still watch the movie downstairs or out on the patio. Before the movie starts, they do trivia about the film, and if you get the answers right you win prizes like tickets or candy. So far they have shown Cruella and Hocus Pocus, and the energy has been great every time. read more

I visited this venue 2 nights in a row for a set of concerts that it was hosting, and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The shows I saw were standing room only, and while they were sold out, the place didn't feel cramped at all. The majority of the space is on the floor directly in front of the stage and there is additional space just up the stairs in the balcony area that overlooks the crowd below so you get a great view of the stage no matter where you're positioned. It's notable that both upstairs and downstairs are sloped, with the floor area downstairs having a step down every 6 feet or so. That means that even if the place is packed, you'll be able to see over the heads of the people in front of you. So again, not a bad vantage point anywhere in the house. The workers were organized and efficient and moved the lines quickly. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, and there were enough of them so that there was literally no wait to get a drink. The restrooms were clean and tidy. A few other things to note. This place has its own parking lot just behind it. It's $8 and is cash only I believe. There is also a restaurant that is connected to it, and if you're eating or having a drink in the restaurant prior to the show, you can get your ticket scanned and a wristband while in the restaurant, allowing you to skip the line when it's time to enter the show. Nice perk, especially if you're a little hungry. So overall, this place is pretty awesome. Plenty of nearby food and drinks, easy parking, efficient staff, pretty good acoustics, and not a bad seat in the house. read more

I'm so grateful that the Granada Theater is allowing Social Dallas to meet here! It was such an exciting experience! Can, I tell you about it? Ok, great! First, we arrived a little before 6:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The streets of lower Greenville Ave were packed. It was filled with crowded restaurants, traffic and a crowd bursting with excitement! The crowd was wrapped all the way around the building! These Church goes were excited to worship the Lord and see Israel Houghton! Next, the Greeters were outside helping with crowd control. Complimentary water, sweet Tea and Coffee were available as you walk in. Then, the seats were regular fold out chairs and we were packed in their like sardines, even the balcony seats were taken. I saw some people standing on the stairs to see the concert. It was really dark in there but, you were still able to see your surroundings. The aisles were slim and filled with volunteers. Also, Bathrooms are really nice but, dark.The stalls are black and the toilet is too. I hope you find it before you sit down. Lol. There's a really nice vanity that resembles a Celebrity's dressing room, way cool! The sound was incredible! However, it was so loud it sounded muffled. The Pastor of Social Dallas was really funny! He keeps it real and has great modern day examples to teach the Gospel. Finally, I loved the excitement of the Venue, the hospitality of the Church, the stage performance, the sound and the unique ladies room! If, I had this much fun at a Church event, what would any other event be like? Epic, I'm sure! read more

Great venue. Bigger than the Sundown! I saw one of the best and underrated bands in the world! The Ocean Blue and Motorcade. If you haven't heard of them then you should listen to them on Spotify or YouTube. This is the second time they have played at the Granada, and the venue did not disappoint. I'm short, so it's nice to see that they have a staged sloping floor. I wish all venues would have this. If the whole floor where all audiences are standing are the same floor level, then it's hard for people to see. I also like that they have a separating divider counters, so you have a place to lean on and set your drinks. Great acoustics and cool vintage signage. read more

The last time I visited the Granada Theater before yesterday was probably 6 years ago, and it's still just as great as I remember it. The ambiance is amazing. Even the bathrooms are pretty nice! The tickets here are usually on the cheaper end and the bands they book range many genres. Great place to see a show. My favorite part of this venue is that it seems to understand that when you go to see a show, you want to SEE the show. I've been to various venues where if you aren't in the first few rows, you won't be able to see the stage. The Granada combats this by having a sloped floor where the back of the venue is higher up than the front, so that even at the very back, you can clearly see the stage. Sections of the GA area are delineated with short walls that help with crowd control and spacing. I tend to get warm at concerts being in a huge crowd, but at the Granada, nobody was ever in my space, and I think it's due to their genius layout. They have three bars scattered around the venue, so I never had to wait in a line, and you can open a tab at one and use it at another, which is super convenient. The show I was going to required masks and vaccine cards and they actually checked them, which I appreciated. They also had disposable masks to pass out to anyone who didn't have one. All of the staff were wearing masks. This was impressive to me in Texas! Parking costs $8 cash in their lot, but you can find street parking on the neighboring streets. We had a dinner reservation at their restaurant an hour before doors and found parking easily. You can rent this venue or the neighboring restaurant for private events, and if you get married here, you get free concert tickets for a year! I think that's super fun. read more

This review is primarily for SOCIAL DALLAS, which is a church service that's held Sunday evenings at the Granada. I arrived at 6pm an as I entered I was greeted as if I was a All Star MVP stepping onto the field/court! There was tons of cheering an smiles from the Social Dallas team! Even complementary tea an water! A little overwhelming but super welcoming an hyped from all greeting! There was about 3 songs sung before Pastor came out. All songs I didn't know but had the lyrics up on the screen to follow along. It did feel like I was at a concert with lots of pyro lighting an jumping up an down, all praising the name of God so I liked that. There was a song that had the words , "allelujah" an that left me stumped as I've always known for it to be Hallelujah?? Anyway, I definitely felt warm an good vibes here but I think I may go to the morning service at the Hifi. Parking on Greenville is always a mess too. read more

I came for the Gimme Gimme Disco event on Saturday (Dec. 21, 2024). This venue is perfect for dancing! I didn't care for the DJ and his music choices later in the evening and people were starting to leave early. I'm commenting on the actual venue which is great for dancing and seeing live music from the way it's fixed. I like the stair-step fashion with the dividers to keep from too much crowding. I wish people couldn't bring their drinks on the floor though. The security was nice to me though. read more

I came here for a show a few weeks ago with my husband. I really enjoyed it. Not too crowded, there is an upstairs section and a downstairs section. Lots of counter space to put your drink down. More than one bar so you can get drinks if you are in the upstairs section or the lower section. Lots of cool lights for light shows. The best part for me is the clean restrooms that are super easy to access and have properly locking doors! Many places like this you go to have terrible restrooms. The Granada theater - a Greenville avenue landmark which fills many of my memories. Visited this past Thursday for the Mike Rhyner documentary. The show was excellent! I was shocked and impressed that our temperature was checked prior to entry. Masks were required for staff and guests. Each attendee received a free taco which was pre-made and handed to us hands free. Sound was good and restrooms clean. I really want to love this place. I've been to maybe 8 shows here over the past 3-4 years. The look of this place is so cool with the old architecture and decor and there definitely feels to be a love of music for the folks who run this place. I love smaller venues for experiencing live music. I saw Allen Stone here (who I've been following on Youtube for years) and was absolutely blown away. One of the best shows I've ever been to. That being said, the audio quality and acoustics in general of this place are like my 1990-era Sony boombox cranked to 11. It's painful to listen to blown-out speakers without sound engineers expertly overseeing the mixing. You would have to spend the whole show at the bar or have no musical ear to think otherwise. (To that end, Allen Stone seemed to skip the house speakers and just pump out the show from some stage amps). Some high-level sound would take this place from a random band at a frat-party feel to an intimate and more high-end experience. I would happily pay more per ticket, the prices are already really low, but I can't go back until they invest some money into the actual MUSIC. read more

I recently attended the Mac Sabbath and Cybertronic Spree show at this venue. I had just had emergency surgery the week before and now could not stand for the show. I was placed in the handicapped area in front of the bar inside the theater hall itself. This is an area that is the same height as the regular floor and with nothing to keep everyone else who is standing from crowding in front of you. I paid to look at the backs of people for 3 hours. I had no sight line to the bands. This was one of the worst concert experiences I have ever had and it was all due to the venue and how it chooses to "accommodate" the handicapped and temporarily handicapped. read more

Okay, so I really REALLY want to give this venue 5 stars but I just can't. So first, let me say that I love the idea. It is an old theater in Dallas converted into a music venue and it just looks dope as hell inside and gives you a cool vibe. However, the sound quality is pretty atrocious. I went to go see K.Flay perform and her opener, Yungblud was pretty much inaudible. You could hear the music, but as far as vocals, you could not understand a single word he was singing. For K.Flay, you could make out what she was singing a little, but it was only slightly better. So, Granada Theater, I really want to love you, but please work on your sound system and then I'd love to give you a 5 star review. read more

Been to a few shows here. Nothing too special, their venue is pretty nice ! The only thing is there's no public parking.

Came here for the Amanda Palmer concert and I was so excited to be able to attend. There's parking behind the Granada but it's pay to park and CASH ONLY. Honestly, it was complete kismet that I had cash on me that night or I have no idea where I would have parked. I'm also glad I listened to my friend about grabbing General Admission and not a table because the GA is right in front of the stage and all the tables are off to the sides. This means that if you pay more for a table, you actually don't have as great of a view as others! The staff here is organized though and got things moving fast once the doors were opened. The sound was ON POINT and the inside of the Granada is gorgeous. Huge painted ceiling, and an old fashioned feel. The bars are not the best stocked inside the venue, but right next door is the Sundown at Granada which has amazing food and drinks with good prices if you want to pre-game (which we definitely did). This is a venue I can't wait to come back to because it was such a positive experience! read more

I've lived in the neighborhood behind the theater for 11 years, and I've noticed that this past Friday night/Saturday morning, there were many young kids, mostly "teens" were walking the neighborhood causing disturbances, urinating on peoples cars lawns, I've witnessed this all myself, I had to chase off a group of young boys and girls from vandalizing my neighbors property. This type of activities make the neighborhood look bad. I walked over to the front of the Granada theater to witness nothing but under age teenagers intoxicated and hanging around the premises. I plan to address this with the city of Dallas and TABC because this will no longer be tolerated. The property management and event manager/owner have to be more responsible. This is outrageous and something has to be done about it. read more

First off, the 5 stars are for the staff of this venue. I was greeted with a smile, easily checked in, the bartenders made strong drinks and were very kind to me and my group. I made it a point to find one of the managers, I think his name was Joe or John, to comment on how gracious his staff was and how well-run the building is. I've been to a lot of music venues in Dallas and Granada's staff are hands-down the best. Well done, guys and girls. The music, however, was a trainwreck. I'm normally not a fan of cover bands but I thought what the heck, this Grateful Dead tribute can't be half bad, right? Good lord, it was awful. I'm sure filling dates is a challenge but come on, y'all. Give some local bands a chance to strut their stuff. Deep Ellum is running a train on you guys. On top of that, the main act had the balls to sell their own merchandise with Jerry Garcia's face on them. I'm no attorney, but pretty sure that's grounds for a lawsuit. Went to the Granada theater for the first time last year to see the amazing Valerie June. And just this week,we went to go see Roky Erickson. I was quite impressed with how nice it was inside this week when I went to see the show and how nice and clean the bathrooms were. I know this may sound LAME to some readers BUT I am in my late 40s but this kind of stuff is important to me and I still go see live shows and I'm not a spring chicken anymore and I like that they have padded chairs to sit on.I didn't care for the female bartender too much she was in the warmest friendly person when I asked for the restrooms but other than that everyone else was really cool. I think they do a pretty good job of sound and lights. The guy that sat us was really friendly. Their online system of buying tickets seems easy and prices are affordable. I love their location near all the different restaurants. One thing we really liked was while waiting for Roky to come on stage, they project their tweets on the screen and that us entertaining and they advertise all their upcoming concerts. They use the same recommendation concept that Pandora and Netflix use of recommending music by saying that music artist or band is similar to another band you may like. That's really superb marketing and it helps us figure out what concert we may want to go to next. I'm definitely a fan of Granada theater and highly recommend it and I am truly grateful to their programming team. I will definitely be back sooner than later. My daughter and I attended the Grace Vanderwaal concert on August 16, 2019 with Jade Jackson as the opener. This was our first time to the Granada Theater and we loved it. We can't wait to return for more concerts. It has such a cool vibe. This is the best use of an old movie theatre from the 1930s/40s. The security staff was so nice too and I was glad to see that they purse checked everyone and wanded everyone. We had general admission tickets and chose the balcony. There was room on the main floor but it looked a little too close with other people...a bit too mosh pit for me. We had the first row on the balcony with a little counter in front of us for our drinks. There was a bar in the main lobby, one on the 1st floor and one in the back of the balcony so if you needed a beverage, you didn't have to go far. There were also restrooms on the main floor as well as in the balcony. This was a standing only concert which was great because even if you're at a concert with chairs (i.e. AT&T Stadium), you never sit anyway!! People were friendly and we made a few friends. The lady next to us gave my daughter her early admit pass which had Grace's picture on it. She had been to previous concerts and this was my daughters first concert. She was soooo sweet and kept asking my daughter (12) if she could see okay and offered her spot many times. The view was great, acoustics were fine and all in all we had a great time. We can't wait to go back and really like the smaller concert venue like this instead of American Airlines center. Easy in and out on a busy Friday night in Lower Greenville too. Highly recommend concerts here. read more

Granada Theater reminds me of a venue you would find in a more arty type town... i.e. Los Angeles. The decor is great and different than any other venue you will find in the Dallas area. Small intimate setting and all seats... are good seats. I have seen numerous great shows here... Grizzly Bear, The Bravery, Ani Difranco, Widespread Panic, St. Vincent, She Wants Revenge, etc. Not one was disappointing! Parking can sometimes be a pain... either too expensive or there just really is none. Anytime attending a sold out show I would recommend cabbing it to the theatre just to avoid dealing with traffic and parking... especially when having a few drinks. We all know how the Dallas po po can be on lower Greenville! Only one complaint (and the reason I didn't give them 5 stars). I went to see Crystal Castles here once and the show was cancelled. No big deal, stuff happens, BUT the crowd stood outside for almost 2 hours before the cancellation (due to technical difficulties) was announced! I understand musicians can be a little touchy and picky when it comes to performing their art, but it would have been nice of the venue to keep us all informed of the situation, rather than letting us all stand outside for hours with absolutely no idea what was going on... but, eeehhhhh.. in the end not that big a deal. Tickets were refunded. All in all I would recommend this place for an intimate setting to get more up close with the music you love. read more

What a cool place! On Sundays, The Granada plays the Cowboys games on the big screen. It's so swanky and fun. You can't beat a nice cold beer, queso, football, and some comfy chairs. My parents took me here to watch the game a couple weeks ago and I was impressed with their hipness. It's a great location and a unique joint. There's just something fun about watching a concert at The Granada. I like how the floor steps down and there is a railing on every level. That makes it easy to stand and have a place to put your drink and/or purse. Plus that eliminates the need for me to move when the tall dude ends up in front of me (and that happens every time). I like the upstairs seating too. Not a bad seat up there plus there's a bar and a restroom. No need to mingle with the common folk if you snag a seat up there. There are four different bar areas now so it's super easy to get a drink no matter where you are. All the smokers, or people needing a break from the music, hang out in front of Granada. That can be fun to watch the people going up and down Greenville. Parking is pretty easy. I sometimes try to find a spot down one of the side streets, but if I'm unsuccessful I'll fork over the $8 or so to park behind Granada. The sound and lights are great, plus the live tweeting feed that scrolls on the wall makes for good entertainment. read more
