If you like the experience of drinking a beer in your garage, stay home and drink a beer in your garage. No AC, in the middle of a Texas summer. It's not the staff's fault but shame on management. There was nothing about the experience leaving me thinking this was fun nor wanting to do it again. I'm new to the neighborhood and saw this spot which is within walking distance from my apartment. I made reservations for an early dinner for two. We arrivals and were immediately greeted and sat. The decor is indeed rustic with warm wood themes throughout and a huge boar that greets you on the wall as you enter lol. Our server was a friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. Since we hadn't been there before, he offered suggestions which were spot on. For drinks, Sauvignon Blanc and the trusty Old Fashioned which was perfectly balanced. For apps, with the wild boar meatballs and onion rings. The meatballs were tender and juicy; over a lightly sweet jalapeño jam. The onion rings were fried well. We came to The Rustic this past Sunday for my cousin's wife's birthday celebration. We were sat at a long table right next to the stage which was fun being so close the live music. I have been wanting to try The Rustic for a while, and I decided to stop in for brunch with a girlfriend on Saturday. I was extremely disappointed with my experience. To start with the positive, there was someone performing covers of popular songs and he was excellent. It really added to the meal, and though it was a little loud as we were seated near the stage, I loved it! The parking lot is also very large, which is uncommon for this area of Dallas. The eggs & migas were AMAZING! The negative (and reason for my rating) is everything else. When our server, who was friendly, came to take our orders, we asked if there could be substitutions made for the family-style brunch as one of us was vegetarian. We weren't looking to sub out dishes for ones off the regular menu, but possibly get two of another dish instead of the fried chicken or bacon. He told us no, the chefs would not allow for any substitutions unless there were allergies. We said ok, no worries because we didn't want to be difficult and I assumed there would still be enough to eat based off the menu. When our plates came out, despite letting our server know I was vegetarian, the french toast and bacon were sitting in the same place and touching. I somewhat understand not being able to make substitutions, but they couldn't use an extra plate to separate the meat from the vegetarian dishes? The "avocado toast" was the equivalent of avocado spread on a cracker with seasoning. It was so small (pictured), it could be eaten in one bite. The potatoes were dry and unenjoyable. The jicama salad was decent, but nothing too notable. I could only eat half the dishes, and I left the restaurant hungry. I understand that making accommodations is not ideal for any restaurant, but I also believe it is part of prioritizing customer satisfaction. Had a great time here! Fun Dallas atmosphere. My family really enjoyed the cactus fries, which was definitely unique and fun for those from North Carolina! The beer can hen was also a great experience and very tender and moist. The taco platter was flavorful and I would order it again. The only thing that was disappointing was that the restaurant 86'ed 3 of their cocktails, and the waitress had a difficult time naming similar drinks to replace the ones they were out of. been to the rusic before (the cactus fries are amazing) but first time for brunch. Our server, Melissa, was exceptional. We asked a million questions about the brunch menu and she was so willing to answer, and was incredibly considerate of our dietary restrictions. Unfortunately it started to pour so we didn't get to eat the brunch given we had a dog with us who couldn't come inside (as a giant dog lover, I appreciate restaurants willing to be strict about inside dining with a dog because it's truly for the benefit of other patrons), but the whole staff at rustic bent over backwards to do their best to accommodate us! Casual and relaxed place with live music, great service, and tasty food!! Saw a lot of big groups and families on a weekend night. Parking is really easy, which is a plus! Brunch was great. Our truck got broken into while parked in their parking lot. We spoke w/ the manager on duty and was told it's not their problem. And they DO NOT have any security cameras in their parking lot. With it being so close to the highway, you should expect this to happen often. Especially if you have a nice vehicle. read more

I am an upstate NY long term temporary transfer to the greater Dallas area. I have come to The Rustic since 2022 by myself or with friends and have never been disappointed. The servers are excellent and make you feel that you are their only custOmer. The food doesn't disappoint either because there is literally something for everyone here. The Rustic absolutely delivered. The service alone deserves a shoutout--Luke was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The burger was amazing, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The meatballs were solid and well-seasoned, but the deviled eggs were the real standout--absolutely fantastic. Number one it's Texas the first day of August, and it was extremely hot. We had to move a few times because apparently you can't just sit anywhere you want to which is fine. We move to the bar after I pay for a drink at my table. It took 10 minutes to get my drink and it was wrong. I like the atmosphere here, as it is spacious, has indoor and outdoor seating and just gives that "Texan" vibe. However I was disappointed with the food, hence the lack of stars. I ordered the Hot chicken sandwich which was basically just a chicken tender thrown in some Texas toast with American cheese. There was nothing "hot" about it and honestly the tenders were so hard and thick it made it difficult to actually eat. The house made chips that it came with were good though, as was the side of jalapeno ranch I got. The drinks were solid. The first one was the mezcal drink (can't recall the name) I wasn't really a fan it was a little too sweet for me. However the Gold Rush was perfect! I had two of them in fact! read more

Come for the brunch menu! Everything is family style and made to order depending on how many are in your party. I've come before for their previous brunch menu but like the newer version. The chicken and potatoes are so seasoned and egg, jicama, and pastries are refreshing. You will definitely be full after this but I feel like it's worth the price. If you come during peak brunch hours you might have a short wait. We waited at the bar, got a lil mimosa and by the time the mimosa came out, our table was ready! One thing to note is that they weren't able to do vegetarian substitutions in case anyone is vegan/vegetarian, they'll only be able to eat a select number of dishes! read more

Met girlfriends here for brunch the last Saturday in June. Let me start by saying this place has a huge parking lot, which is surprising for being in Uptown. I wish I had known that before I took car service. At any rate, my friends were already seated at two high-top tables near the bar area. I get that this place has a great patio, but it was a scorcher that day, and even with the glass doors between the inside and the patio closed, it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. So, taking off one star for the temperature. Rachel was our server, and she was fantastic! Especially since she told us at the end of our brunch it was her first day. We never would have known it. Her service was on point, and she was waiting on 12 of us! So, applause to her! I started with the Texan Candy cocktail, and it tasted like a watermelon jolly rancher. Yum yum! I ordered the avocado & shrimp salad, and it was cool, crisp, and tasty. Half of our group ordered salads, and the other half did the family style brunch. I wish I had participated in the brunch! Everything looked delicious, and I heard the French toast was extra special. The Rustic has been on my list to visit for a decade, and this was my first experience. Love the live music. Our group had reservations for 9:15 but there was an accident on the freeway and most of us didn't arrive until 9:35. It was Friday night busy, but they were understanding and let one person hold the table until we arrived. Three of our group were celebrating their birthdays! The Rustic brought out Peanut Butter Pie to help us celebrate. The food all seems to have something different and unique. They have cactus fries made with prickly pear cactus. Giant spicy onion rings served with jalapeño ranch. Be warned , they are spicy! The brisket tacos are served on a platter to be shared. Spicy chicken sandwich was not as spicy as the onion rings. Burger with brisket and several other options were all good. Deviled eggs with cracklin' were a little too salty but no complaints from anyone. What a great fun venue. We were too busy celebrating so I didn't have time to take pictures. Will upload some on my next visit and review! read more
