Extremely rude waitress. I do not remember the last time I left zero tip but I'll remember this time. She told me I hadn't ordered 30 seconds after I had ordered, literally. I said I'd just ordered and she replied sharply, "No you didn't". (We should have walked, then and there.) My friends heard me order. So I ordered again and said "I just read this order." She then said, "no you ordered from him" meaning the owner who brought drinks. So she did hear me the first time and failed to write it down on the pad she was holding. The pizza was just OK but upon reheating the next day it was obvious the cheese was cheap, like rubber. We dropped ~$400 there over the previous few weeks; never again. read more

When The Ridge is on, they are on, when thy are off they are way off. Been here 4-5 times (take out and dine in) and each time a different result. It's unfortunate about the inconsistency because the first few pizzas were great but the last 3 were not. Nice soft yummy crust vs a crust that shatters, is burnt or tastes of nothing. Great pizza, great service, but most importantly, great happy hour. The pizza always comes with generous toppings and bubbling cheese. The crust is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I've always had great service from multiple servers. I love that my water glass never goes empty. I've also noticed that there are always regulars there, but I never feel like I have to compete with them for the bartender's attention. The Ridge has one of the best happy hour menus around. They have a great range of snacks and meals to choose from. I recommend the 8" happy hour pizza. Only $1 per topping. Delicious. read more

It is nice to have a solid, locally-connected pizza spot in Phinney. GOOD: The salads are HUGE, tasty and worth every cent. Trust me, a full salad here is 3 meals. Ingredients are fresh. Top-notch. The meatballs are yummy, too! Super convenient if you live in Phinney/Greenwood, and not much competition in the area. AVERAGE: The pizza. Strangely, for a pizza place, the pizza underwhelms. I have tried 4 times, and I think the issue is actually the super-bland crust. The toppings are fun and fresh (the meats need a little kick, so get red peppers, etc), but I like a good pizza dough, and the Ridge crust is just there to keep the toppings off your hands. read more

I have wondered about this place for a while and finally went there for dinner. The food is OK, although definitely no real vegan options without customizing things. My husband said the pizza was pretty good, and I had a salad that had garbanzo beans and other veggies which was good. We did order the bruschetta because it did not say that it had balsamic vinegar. My husband can't stand it, and surprisingly it came covered in it. We then ordered a second bruschetta appetizer and asked for no balsamic vinegar, and the second one didn't have any on top but the little breads seem to be soaked in it as well which was pretty frustrating. overall it was so so. read more

I thought I'd give this place a go after driving by it for the last few years. We ordered the breadsticks, turkey meatballs and Ken's Market pizza. The breadsticks are not breadsticks, here is the description on the menu, "fresh baked breadsticks topped with garlic, grated parmesan & truffle oil, served with a cup of marinara." What we got was a pizza crust smothered in grated parmesan, and the sliced. If you are going to call that a breadstick that's great for you, but don't mislead people on your menu, I was expecting a breadstick akin to what you'd get at Olive Garden. The meatballs were fine, a bit heavy handed on the fennel, but not too bad. The pizza is just ok, not terrible, but not spectacular either. It's a little bready, especially at the edge, so if you are a lover of the crust, this might be for you. read more

Just a genuine neighborhood pizza bar. Great beer list and wine list, fair prices, and a solid menu. Salads were big enough to share as an appetizer as well, which was nice. As I've come to expect from Seattle pizzerias, the variety of toppings, styles, and base sauces was huge. Not only that, but the preparation was more European than American-- a focus on having really good toppings spread evenly or sparingly, as opposed to having tons of mediocre toppings covering the pie. Great pizza! One closest to me even said second to Serious Pie...that's huge. More traditional than Serious Pie but delicious fresh ingredients on top of a crust that you won't want to leave on the plate. Great choices to pick from and they are also great at making the pizza to ones liking without any scoff. Try this one ...mama l'il peppers with their sausage and white onions. Kind of really really good. Salads are big fresh and nicely dressed. Drinks are good from hot toddies to a great selection of beers. What gives these guys a push over others is their excellent, excellent service. I love going out to eat places where they treat everyone from myself, to my son, to some elderly bar patron with kindness. I saw the bartender one day go over and give a grumpy looking old fella a big fat hug for his bday. It almost brought a tear to my eye. Ah, Pizza. One of those foods that is so beloved by many. Easy to please food, simple enough, but hard to get right. I mean really right. Sure I was hungry, our entire group was. But this has to rank up there among the best pizzas I've had. Our group ordered four large pies. Of the selections were the Oliver's Twist, Avanti, Martino's and the PTA. (except for the latter, they're all named after businesses on the street. How cute.) All four pizzas were amazing! Read about these on the website, but the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The crust was so good, I actually ate my crusts (which I often will leave behind). My personal fave was the Oliver's Twist: Sliced red potatoes, onions, and bacon, topped with truffle oil and rosemary on an olive oil base. The others were more/less a margarita, meat lovers, and supreme. But all of them totally delish. Lots of beers on tap, a pretty diverse selection. A really nice and comfortable interior. Since we were a big group we got the entire back area to ourselves. (Sorry, Ridge for hoggin it up!) And I am pleased that this place is actually not very far from where I live. First mistake was coming here way too hungry and then ordering the mezza platter. But maybe I should have been warned that I was ordering a group platter with intentions of two people eating as an appetizer before a meal. I loved that they had Angry Orchard Cider on tap (few places in Seattle have decent cider on tap, which I head is being mended with a Cidery on Capital Hill - must investigate!). We sat at the bar while my Friend watched a match - and we did have to wait over 20 minutes for the platter to arrive - and with reason as it was so huge! That being the case our pizza arrived soon thereafter, so I ended up boxing up most of the meat, bread, and cheese which over flowed off the plate. Our family used to love this place, not just for the ambience and food, but the friendly staff. The last three times we have been in, the staff (particularly the hostesses) have been very rude. The only exception is Chris who is consistently exceptional. There are too many other pizza options in the neighborhood that have good pizza that I'd rather give my business to than be repeatedly disappointed and annoyed after having a meal here. The Ridge makes really excellent pizza, but they also recently betrayed me when I needed them most. The day was March 20, 2017; a balmy day in Seattle, and also my birthday. For my special birthday dinner, my darling wife picked up a pie of my choosing. Wanting to try something new, I chose one of the signature pizzas--the Sip and Ship--which is described as: "Italian sausage, red and green bell peppers, and fresh mozzarella, on a marinara base." As soon as the pizza arrived at my house, I eagerly opened the box only to be hit with a wave of dizziness and abject despair... The pizza did contain all the ingredients listed, but was devoid of the traditional, foundational layer of mozarella cheese. The aforementioned fresh mozarella was dolloped intermittently, but for most of the surface all I saw was sad, naked, light marinara staring back at me. While I fundamentally disagree with this recipe, I do acknowledge its right to exist. However, the unfortunate product description resulted in a catastrophic if unintentional bait-and-switch. None of the other pizza descriptions specifically call out that a given pizza does, in fact, feature a crust-to-crust coverage of cheese like every other pizza in the ever-expanding universe. Hopefully one day I can recover from this momentous rug-pulling. In summary, the pizza is usually top-notch, but the Sip and Ship is missing a bunch of cheese. You've been warned. read more

We'd lived in Phinney Ridge for over a year before we first went to The Ridge. Not entirely sure why we never went, I love pizza -- I guess it felt more like a place you take your kids to let off some steam. We started going a few months ago and it is now my favorite pizza in the neighborhood. Unpretentious. Great pizza. Great people. One time, my wife ordered the entirely wrong pizza and we didn't notice until we brought it home. I really hate being those people and will go to great strides to avoid it, but she called them and told them about her mistake and they made another one at no charge. Last night, they didn't hear me order pepperoni over the phone, threw the pepperoni on and cooked it for a bit longer and didn't charge me for the extra topping. I've learned two things, I guess, The Ridge is a good neighborhood pizza place that has become our go-to and we are poor at the ordering process. read more

I was keeping my friend company who just had surgery on her hand and was directed by her doctor to keep it easy. She wanted out of the house so we decided to venture out and get some grub. She listed off the places in the neighborhood and as soon as pizza was mentioned I was sold. We walked right into The Ridge. The Ridge is a cozy space, full of wood paneling, tables, and benches. There is a bar with about four stools with a selection of taps. This place best suits small groups of up to four. Actually this would be a great place to rent out for a casual party. The Ridge offers pizza and similiar to many pizza joints it is more upscale. Sure you can build your own pizza with minimal toppings like cheese and pepperoni but why would you with the choices offered? We decided to order the Greek salad and the Carmelita for the pizza which comes with roma tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, black olives, red onions and roasted garlic finished with fresh basil. Since I am not an olive fan I asked if they could be on the side for the salad and on only one side for the pizza. The waiter who was very personable had no problem dealing with my request. The Greek salad was the perfect size for two people. The Carmelita pizza was yummy but I like all those toppings, with the exception of the olives, so I thought they were a great combination. The crust was between medium and thin and a bit chewy which I am a fan of. I am glad we chose The Ridge. I enjoyed the pizza and the salad as well at the atmosphere. read more

Happy hour at the Ridge is Italian food bliss. Garlic bread, meatballs, artichoke dip... everything on their menu that I've tried in the two visits here (which is everything) was well priced and completely delicious. I confess I have avoided spending 26 bucks on one of their pizzas, but only because I fear I will love it and then be sad that I spent so much money when I could have had the whole happy hour menu for the same price :-) P.S. What I got to say is the staff here is out of this world polite and kind and just makes the experience out of this world.
