Better than I expected. The crust was pretty solid! Had a nice chew, properly raised with nice airy bubbles, and could be more crispy on the bottom but not bad at all. The toppings were probably where I'd dock some points - the veggie pizza tasted better than the meat lover one, but neither were too impressionable. Didn't really like the cheese at all, and the toppings weren't too loaded but not my fave either way. But the crust is the harder part to get decent, so I'll keep the 4 stars! read more

Came here on a Thursday afternoon, during their weekly trivia night. There's street parking all around but it wasn't that easy to find an open space, but that is standard for Ballard. The space is quite nice, with both bar and table seating. The host asked me if I was ok with the bar versus a table, and I went to sit at the bar. I ordered a cocktail and a slice of pizza, both which came out very quickly. The cocktail was pretty good, and I enjoyed the pizza overall! During this time, trivia got started. The bartender gave me my bill, I let him know I'd be playing for a while, and he said it was fine and I could get to the bill when I was ready. I ended up ordering a second slice of pizza. Stopped in for a late lunch and grabbed a couple seats at the bar. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but everyone cleared out not long after we arrived. Ordered a couple of beers and a pepperoni pizza. Pizza was good but a little greasy (pepperoni cups) and the crust was light. Our bartender was nice and very chatty. came in on a Saturday night around 430pm and got seated right away at the bar, I was intrigued by the happy hour menu and I'm glad I came in. I got the dynamite wings for 10$ and a draft beer for 9$, as well as some slices. The servers were extremely welcoming and hospitable. The wings were solid , great portion size, Buffalo/smoky/ chipotle like flavor and goes well with ranch. The daily rotator was the slice with jalepenos, pepperoni and pineapples, great combo, the Ballard slice was the classic meat lover/ combo slice, solid as well. Been here 3 times in the past 6 weeks. The food is great and the service is always kind. The location overlooks the athletic fields. I swear sometimes it looks like there a 1000 people out there. Point being, when the field is busy you can tell Ballard's is extra busy. Have a little patience! 1 star reviews are a bit punitive don't you think? There's no way they deserve that kind of review because you didn't get "the level of service" you hope for. Be kind, be patient, and be understanding. With that said the food is very good. We've had the pizza, wings, flatbread, burrata, and Caesar salad. All very good. The wing are baked not fried. I love that they offer single large slices as an option too. Death Spiral Complete We used to love this place. When we moved to Seattle in 2016, we ate here all the time. We loved it, our kids loved it, the food was great, the service was great - it was a fun night out for all. We started going to Frelard because it was a little closer to our house, and that place was great too - with some fun outdoor seating. This was our go-to option for a pizza night out, or ordering delivery for years. The the pandemic hit. This place suffered the same as every other restaurant in the country. The problem is that they never really recovered. The quality went way down and staff turnover was pretty high. We tried for *years* to give them a chance to recover. When our delivery pizza was bad, we made excuses for them and said it must have been a busy Friday night, or that we should have gone there in person. Going in person didn't help - it was just as bad. We kept going anyway hoping they would recover. Our final visit to Frelard was so bad we left 2 pizzas to be thrown away, and Frelard shut down not long after that. Ballard Pizza Company recently moved to a new location, and we thought it was time to give the another chance. Surely they would put some effort in to make the food good a new location. Nope. It was awful. The cheese was bad, the sauce was bland, and the crust was simultaneously burnt and soggy. How is that even possible? I was really at a loss trying to understand how the pizza had become so bad. Ethan Stowell is an experienced restauranteur who knows how to run a restaurant that makes good food. What has gone wrong here? Then I read a McSweeny's piece about your local mediocre pizzeria, and it explained a lot. Go search for that article and read it. Also, take a look around at the space. It has a horrible sports bar vibe with the expected clientele. I guess if you are there to get drunk you can choke down the pizza. After this last visit, half of our family swore we would never eat there again. Someone from the other half decided to order from them anyway. They were warned: "We can't stop you if you want to ruin your dinner, but we are eating something else." The order arrived and there were errors - no shocker. And it was as bad as expected. There was one redeeming quality to the order - it came with pizza box and big paper bag that we could use for our compost. read more

Good pizza in Seattle often entails enduring Herculean trials just to find out that they've sold out or won't seat you (eg, "we're open from 2:37 pm - 4:31 pm on days that begin with the letter "T" and the line starts forming at 3:00 am"). Ballard Pizza Co is a nice counterpoint to the madness. It offers a comfortable space to relax with drinks and decent, but not phenomenal pizza. Regarding the pizza itself: I'm nitpicking, but I wasn't crazy about the cornmeal on the crust and I thought the slices needed a bit more structure. That being said, the toppings and flavors were on point. I'd go to Ballard Pizza Co over Delancey any day (much more relaxing), but don't think the pies are as good as Dantini. read more
